I noticed that since the last two updates of Google Now, it doesn't update it's theme anymore which corresponds to daytimes. Only if I pull down the cards and do a manual refresh, it updates again. Is this a bug?

Anyone?

I haven't seen this behavior, mine updates auto without any intervention.
Have you updated it?
Google play services up to date?

A lot of people are having issues with Google Now, from display bugs to location errors. Just note this is probably just a blow back from that.
Mine only had this issue you're having once, then it seemed to be just fine.

I have installed a newer play store, 3.10.9. I don't get notifications about updates, so I want to get to the stock version. I tryed uninstalling updates but after reboot I get 3.10.9 again. What do I have to do ?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk 2
update of store is manage by Google and this is the reason why you have newest version again. I think you can't change it anymore.
I have new on mobile already, but old one on tablet still
What version is normally on stock ics ? I'll try to download the correct version but I don't know which one to search.

it's not aout version of Android, but about version released by Google, I have X version for last few months as eveybody. You can found it just by checking of version usually.
I was asking about the app, not about the android version. The version of playstore app on the note 10.1 might be different that the one on nexus 10 for example, or the one on older phones that still run android 2.3. I need to know the version of the app, is visible in playsore/settings at the bottom. Should look like 3.9.15 or something.

it's clear for me. I have 3.9.16 on SGN10.1 now, ICS 4.0.4 and 3.10.9 on SGS2 on ICS 4.0.4
No matter what version I try, it gets back to 3.10.9. I'll leav it like this for now, until jb comes.

I have almost the same problem. 6 days ago PS updated, I recieve notifies but when trying to update, the window shows downloading (forever).
I have this issue with my G TAB2 7.0 and my SGS3. When i connect to my friends home network it works. When i connect to my GS3 hotspot it works. Its driving me nuts.
I have made no changes to my router settings. I opened both firewalls on my router, same results. I cant see where port 5723 is being blocked on my router.
I searched XDA for answers as well as GPS and read where there are issues but i cant find or see where my settings need any changes.
If anyone has suggestions please let me know. Thanks.
Try uninstalling updates for P.S. and let it update again, maybe will fix himself. I even did a reset to factory default and still it's updating to 3.10.9... but I'm not sure yet if I'll get notified for updates because there are none at the moment.
Edit : Nope, I don't get notified about updates.

Hey guys, has anybody tried had sync? I always used it on my nexus devices, however, the last update for it is on October 6th, way before KitKat release date. I've read through some of the reviews and some have mentioned of it preventing phone from going to deep sleep and causing wake locks. That was on a galaxy phones though, no mention of issues on nexus 5. I have just got the nexus, don't really want to install something that's not fully compatible yet.

Working fine for me.. Just got my phone a couple hours ago, so can't really say much on the wake lock part. But, the contacts sync up and its fine so far..
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Why not try it for your self? If it causes problems just uninstall it. Plan and simple. Not like it can brick your phone because an app isn't 100% compatible.
Working fine for me too.

I have sync.me on one of my old androids letting it update my contacts...good idea if you have a old phone laying around...not sure but you could use haxsync like that too.

I did when I got my nexus. My battery died faster than expected. I looked through logs, and noticed that yahoo weather was draining a lot of battery on the background, ended up uninstalling that and haxsync because I figured that it could have been both as android usage was also high. Today, everything was fine. I will try to reinstall it.
I do seem to get some contact pics synced, I'm guessing by default Facebook app still doesn't sync contacts on stock, right? Pictures might be coming from Google +?

Been using haxsync for a week now on my N5 & no battery drain/wakelocks according to bbs from haxsync so its ok to use.

I have not as the Dev put in the description that it's only needed for 4.1. Calendar and contacts are syncing just fine without it.

Uhm I installed it, but the pictures seems to be all in low resolution.. It's because this Nexus is bigger then the previous?

On 4.4.2 haxsync doesnt work anymore at least for me
are there any alternatives?
I don't find HaxSync on Play Store, on both Play Store app (on Nexus 5) and Play Store web
There's a playstore fix in xposed installer. This may fix your problem

he removed it from play store because it is atm not whitelisted through facebook more infos on Facebook page
I was unable to find HaxSync on play store, so I searched through Google and clicked the link, works flawlessly.

MersauX,
Can you please tell me where you found it? What link? When I search for the Haxsync APK, I find a lot of sites, but I am always a bit leery at downloading them from these types of places since I worry about the files authenticity. Thanks in advance.

Thanks but it's not currently available on the play store. That's the reason I asked in the first place.
I've never had any wakelocks using haxsync, and it has never shown up in my battery stats ever.

Odd, that link works for me. Must be because I've had it installed for years...
Wow, just saw my battery drained to below 50% and noticed that gmail smart extras were downloading a lot of data.
Here's a screen shot.
Wth is it downloading?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Same here.
Gmail apps itself not consume that much data compare with Gmail smart extras.
Have been post note on Google playstore but no any responses yet from Sony.
Sent from my HTC One dual sim using Tapatalk
Hopefully they have a solution soon, or at least someone else would be able to tell us what its doing.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I had to uninstall it because of its battery consumption.
I Will install it again to check the data usage too.
I uninstalled it. The **** did it a second time.

After a full charge. Left it idle.

have you tried downgrading to the previous version of the extension?
the current version caused too many FC's for me, that's why i downgraded
(bloody annoying, can't hit the "update all" in the play store because of that)

Have you still got an apk for previous version? If so what version number is it? And could you share a link? Thanks.
Edit
Found your link on separate post

Not sure I'd this is the right place to post as I'm not sure if this is just a nexus 5 thing or not but I've noticed a couple of apps have updated on my friends phones from the play store with new ui and mine haven't changed.
My wife's nexus 4 and my friends HTC one he m7 facebook have both updates a week or so ago with a new ui and mine is still the same.
Also according to play store hangouts has updated today with a new ui which merges conversations and stuff now but I don't have that either.
Is this a nexus 5 thing?

No idea about hangouts but the facebook ui is rolling out to users slowly.

I had the same thing as well, had to sideload the hangouts update apk
I think its just a rolling update for those 2 items.
hangouts still shows the 4/21 update, but it wasn't the new UI. Same happened back when they were updating Instagram for video a few months ago - it said that date was the update but it wasn't showing as an update in my apps at the time.

Facebook gives the new UI randomly to some users. They aren't rolled out through Play Store updates. Both UIs are built into every version of Facebook.
The Hangouts app was updated today. That means it just started rolling out on the Play Store. You will get the update most likely by the end of the week at the latest. They do this in case there are issues in the update. This is a feature (rolling out updates) that Google uses for almost all of their app updates. It is a bit annoying because it may take you a few days to get a big update, but in the end, it is good for users.
Noticed that for about 3 weeks, Google play services uses more battery then ever. Can't really understand why but I assume that it is somehow connected to the updated play market. The market updated also an about 3 weeks ago.
I'm using xtrasmooth rom with racer kernel.
Before the update, everything was fine with location services enabled.

Have you tried another ROM?
Not yet. I don't think that it's rom related because everything was fine until play market was updated.
