[RECOVERY] start loop on TWRP after a backup on x2 gem-702L - Huawei MediaPad X2

good morning,
(escuse me for my english I am french, thank google)
I was passing by Rom KangVIP B015 (Android 5.0) and TWRP TWRP-ENG-5.0,
I was the original B003 702L, all works very well for several days,
I decided to make another backup with TWRP (with compression) externally on my sd,
all goes normally, and I then reboot,
and continually find myself on the recovery TWRP menu.
Can not start the system by download from TWRP.
I restored my backup but always the same.
I can put myself in download from the connected computer,
and I have access to the adb command.
by searching the internet, the problem has already produced on LG2 and other,
and there would execute commands either by download or in TWRP in terminal mode.
but I do not know if that works under the MediaPad x2,
and knows the commands to perform.
thank you in advance to all those who have the solution to this problem

Did you try to Factory reset/Wipe your phone from recovery?

Try to flash the stock recovery with the ADB, and then install back the original ROM from the sdcard with the local updater.

You need to boot into bootloader mode and fastboot flash 4 img files. It's mentioned in multiple threads here just use the search button or look in this thread:

I extracted the images of the GEM and GEM-702L-703L, but I have an error
when I want flasher fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img, both with
the system images of the 702L and 703L,
LOAD_FILE: could not allocate -2140949684 bytes for 703L
so I did not flash only the boot.img and recovery.img and reflash
the recorery TWRP TWRP-ENG-5.0, then reboot on TWRP,
restoring my last backup, and all is back to normal,
all working again.
thank you again to all

Honor 6 - Unable to access recovery mode. Stuck at boot screen (honor logo)

Hi,
My Honor 6 (Indian Version) was stuck in boot loop post OTA upgrade from B822 to B831. In order to fix this issue, I went through many forums available online and then decided to use the Multi Tool to downgrade to Android L & EMUI 3.1.
To get this done I have followed the below steps:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Extract BOOT, CUST, RECOVERY and SYSTEM files from the update package downloaded from Honor.in site. //(Honor 6_Firmware_H60-L04_Android 5.1.1_EMUI 3.1_C675B570_India_Flipkart)//
3. Used Multi Tool to unbrick.
Post this the phone is not able to get into recovery mode; it's stuck at the logo screen. It doesnot recognise the 3 button command to boot into recovery mode.
I have tried using the 'boot to recovery' command in Multi Tool but it throws error "daemon not running starting on port 5037".
I have also tried adb command but for some reason my computer does not recognise my mobile.
i.e. adb devices --> doesnot show my device. (yes, I have updated the abb drivers). So I am not able to use any adb commands.
Then i tried installing/flashing CWM & TWRP recovery. None helped. :crying:
Now I am here, out of options and do not know how to proceed.
Could someone in this forum help me fix the current issue? Please.
In addition, I would like to know a few things:
a. How to install a new OS/ROM on a dead phone? (Healthy hardware with corrupt software)
b. How to format any phone and start a fresh installation?
c. How to read internal memory of a phone which has no ROM or corrupt software?
I am new to all this. Please bear with me.
Thanks,
Sampath

First of all hold and press power + vol down to boot into bootloader mode and type
Fastboot devices
After connecting your phone to PC and opening a command window in platform-tools. Your device should be listed.
adb devices works only when your phone is already booted into Android or running twrp.
Copy and paste the four image files to platform-tools folder and fire these commands
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash cust cust.img
And then use the 3 button command.

I am in a bit different situation, let me explain.
Till day before yesterday I was on B570 Rom, then I upgraded over OTA to B831, then Unlocked Bootloader, Rooted, Installed Latest TWRP Recovery & Installed Latest Xposed Framework, everything went successfull & My phone is running fine.
But the question that arises to me is that none of the Stock Marshmallow update for Honor 6 - H60-L04 has been stable as compared to Lollipop Version & I found B570 super stable & the possibility of myself reverting back to B570 is more. What would be the procedure to revert back to B570.. I think first of all I would have to revert back to stock recovery & then flash the rom package, but how to do this successfully.
Kindly advice.

Thank you for your response. :good:
I have flashed all the files using the fastboot mode, but my phone does not recognise the 3 button command.
It either displays the Honor logo or restarts with a quick vibration. the only command it recognised is 'Vol Down + USB plugged into a computer' (for fastboot).
When flashed with Honor Custom or CWM recovery the phone does not recognise:
1. Vol up + Vol down + Power - for recovery mode
2. Vol down + Power - for hard reset/clear cache partition
When flashed with TWRP recovery the phone only recognises: Power + Vol Up button which boots into recovery mode; however this works only when connected to a power source, the moment I disconnect the power cable the phone switches off.
I tried to install Honor 6 custom ROM EMUI4.0 using TWRP. Need guidance on the below two scenarios.
1. TWRP only recognises .zip files. HONOR custom ROMs are in .app format. What should I do?
2. As a work around, I have downloaded 'Honor 6_Firmware_H60-L04_Andriod 6.0_EMUI 4.0_C432B820_Channel-Others.zip' from xda forum and tried installing it, but TWRP throws a 'no md5 file found' error.
To address this I tried using WinMD5.exe to get the MD5 code and manually created a .MD5 file, but TWRP did not recognise it. Please guide.
Thanks,
Sampath

You need to flash stock recovery first, by executing this command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
@sampathnayak09
Make sure your power button is working correctly. If the files can be flashed successfully, you should be able to boot into recovery.
Honor firmware can only be flashed using three button method. You can search online for making .zip from .app but I am not sure that will solve your problem.

There are rollback packages for going back. I have read those threads on XDA but could not find them again. Will look for them and will send you a link as soon as I found one.

Thanks for the reply.
If I extract the recovery.img from the B831 Rom Package & flash the same using the below command will it give me back my stock recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
And if once I am on Stock Recovery I hope I can again Install a full fresh copy of the B831 Package which will be with Stock Recovery i.e NO TWRP Recovery & root free. And after that when I get the rollback package I can revert back to B570. Pls advice am I going right or is there any possibility that I will brick my phone.

My honor 6 bricked about a month ago so can not verify this method but to get out of bootloop, always keep a nandroid backup of your device somewhere safe.
You can make a nandroid backup using twrp. Save it to SD card and then copy it to your PC to keep it safe.

Hi,
I did flash the stock recovery, but my phone keeps rebooting and doesn't get into recovery mode.
I am sure it has sufficient battery charge. (Close to 90%).
Is there a way to do a clean install on Android phones? Like the way we install Windows OS on computers. Format hard disks, create partitions and then install a fresh OS?
Thanks

Find attached below the required links for Rollback package & TWRP.
1) https://club.hihonor.com/in/honor6.217/downgrade-link-from-marshmallow-b831-to-lollipop-b570.7935
2) https://twrp.me/devices/huaweihonor6.html
Regarding TWRP, it lets you install custom roms & other apps which cannot be installed thru stock recovery e.g Xposed Framework. Further TWRP is useful for restoring the phone as it allows to restore the phone by using Nandroid backups taken earlier, provided the Nandroid backups are stored in SD Card. There may be more advantages which I am still trying to find out.

Let me know which Rom version is your phone running now & which version you are trying to migrate to.
Also if 3 button Force update is not working then you can try the project menu option.
But first let me know what state your phone is currently in.

I didnt get anything from the post. you have to be little bit specific.
i mean you
1. unlocked bootloader(fine)
2. installed twrp(also fine)
3. installed cm13(great)
4. you reverted back to stock rom??? How from twrp, flashfire or fastboot.?
and now how are you trying to install twrp? from fastboot?
Flash twrp image with fastboot, start TWRP, reboot recovery within TWRP, then twrp sticks... profit.

TWRP is not sticking...
1) Start the bootloader, flash TWRP in fastboot with the command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (Replace twrp.img with the name of the TWRP img file)
2) Press VOL DN to start Recovery and select it, TWRP should start... When prompted if you should allow changes to system, say YES or allow or whatever so that is allowed to mount system as read-write.
3) In the TWRP main menu, select Reboot, then Reboot - Recovery
4) The device will restart and TWRP will start again, if asked to allow changed changes to system again, allow it
5) Go to Mounts and make sure Mount System Read-Only is NOT ticked
6) Press Home, then Reboot and Reboot Recovery again
TWRP will start again and be set, it will not go away unless you flash something with a recovery.img in the file (custom ROMs do not normally contain this file).

At what point? What command are you using to perform the flash?
I'm sorry... I've just done this on numerous G3's and what you are describing doesn't just happen for no reason... either the initial flash was done incorrectly, the process to set it was not followed, or there is actually a defect in the device (which is unlikely if TWRP boots even once after bring flashed).

NEVER USE KINGROOT OR KINGOROOT on a Moto G3 with Marshmallow, it will soft brick... We have seen at least a half dozen specific examples by experienced users... Somehow you got lucky, but I would never recommend this method to a user.
Now, once rooted Flashify is a viable option.

Huawei ascend G8 stock rom for UAE region needed..

I need the stock firmware for Huawei G8(UAE region) to unbrick my device.
Can someone plz upload it for me?
Hello,
Brother more info please is the model RIO-L01 or what?

I tried to root my device after rooting it went into a boot loop then I flashed it with it custom rom using twrp it still didn't work out. Later I used clear data option in twrp and deleted everything including the rom....Now the message"No rom found " was shown in the recovery....So I tried to replace twrp with normal Huawei recovery, so I used the Huawei extractor tool to extract the recovery file and flash it...mistakenly I flashed Erecovery...now I am stuck with it.. I don't even enter fast-boot mode no even into the normal recovery and is not recognizable by pc
Now, the only way out is to flash stock rom using force update method (by pressing both volume buttons and power button simultaneously)

What command did you use to flash the ERecovery?
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=80950&version=321934&siteCode=lt
This is the EU ROM B340 for the L01
Also did you try reinstalling fastboot drivers?
Good luck!
Also next time when you encounter no OS please just move the zip file using the mount function
Or using a SD card

Huawei Mediapad M5 TWRP test

Attention ! ONLY for devices delivered with OREO 8.0.xxx. At 8.1.xxx there are problems!
This TWRP has been made for the P10.
On my Mediapad M5 10.8" LTE it works!
It can be safely used IF
- you have a FULL update of your build on the PC
- from the Update.zip the Update.app have unzipped
- with the HuaweiExtractor from the Upate.app
- - ramdisk.img
- - recovery_ramdis.img
- - system.img
extracted. The Extractor automatically makes a *.img.header for each *.img. These 6 files copy in yours
ADB-Folder. IF ANYTHING SHOULD WORK - flash this 3 img
- fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
- fastboot flash system system.img
AND the pad is reset to stock-rom again.
If you can handle it, you need a TWRP and want to test it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-emui-8-0-4-04-2018-t3773449
download
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
If this works on a Mediapad M5 8 " ? I can not test it because of the lack of a device!
Who has no idea as a beginner: PLEASE LET IT BE !!!
Turning € 400 into a paperweight is NOT fun!
Absolutely important: look at the screen before flashing - "Bootloader: unlocked" & "FRP: unlock" !!!
With stock-rom OTA updates can still be received BUT only be installed with stock-recovery !!!
If the update is on the pad "Update now?" NO later !
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
Now install the update
Should the update "*****ing" helps https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho.../recovery-bkl-nocheck-recovery-flash-t3778085
This is flashed instead of stock recovery.
When everything is done, you can install TWRP afterwards.
This did not work for me on an SHT-AL09 that I had already bricked (soft bricked as I can flash via fastboot). The TWRP screen came up at boot, but the menu never loaded. I couldn't say for sure that it wouldn't work on a stock SHT-AL09.
I can confirm this version of TWRP is working on my Mediapad M5 8.4 SHT-W09. Thanks for trying, it out. I wasn't brave enough to be the first.
i am write what i do with my pad. My Pad : Huawei Mediapad M5 - CMR-AL09 8.0.0.151(C432).
other type (example : SHT-AL09, SHT-W09 ....) i not have !
if this writing other user help - that's ok
@AndDiSa @rcstar6696 @MishaalRahman
@tabletmen I am already looking at it ... the only thing I do not like much: only a binary download from Mega
I would prefer to have the sources to build it by my own.

@darren1 thanks, I've found it already ... but I need to dig in a bit deeper to get a twrp environment set up.
@darren1 I can confirm that the twrp for the P10 is working (partly) on the SHT-W09 ... It boots, it decrypts /data and you can access via adb
I didn't try to install anything but I tried to do a backup ... unfortunately neither "adb backup --twrp" nor backup to the sdcard is working for me

I was able to make a complete backup to the sdcard on my CMR-W09 and then restore from it. I did remove pin & fingerprint screenlock prior to booting into twrp. Installing zip files works.
@magnumlove that's strange .. I didn't remove the pattern for unlocking, but the backup went well for /data the error occured when backing up /system
Probably I should try it again with a different sdcard.
(btw. adb backup --twrp failed due to /system/bin/bu missing)

you won't need twrp at all for any custom rom for our m5
its simply useless becazse you have to flash system images via fastboot
has anyone tested this on gsi ?

I am just about to flash v19 of Phh-Treble gsi. I will let you know how I get on.
@rcstar6696 I like the idea to have a full backup to be able later to restore to a certain stage. This is the main reason for me to have twrp.
Btw. I found another issue with the TWRP from P10: OTG is not working. I wanted to use a pen drive to test the backup but it's not even mounting the drive.

Is there some other easy way to flash GApps and other similar zips without TWRP?
Sent from my CMR-AL09 using Tapatalk
The recovery works on the stock ROM SHT-L09 .125(C00). At least for me it doesn't work with either of phh's latest(v19) GSI images; just stays on twrp logo screen. I am unable to get a logcat as that returns an error but can get a shell.

Yes, unzipped with 7zip and flashed to system partition. I tried with vanilla also.
Recovery is nice, but GSI v19 in nicer. It will come.

I flashed to System Image not System.

Stuck with fastboot mode.

Ok, so I had oreo in my 6x indian variant, and wanted to flash elemental OS V8. But for some reason the TWRP was not able to access the data partition. And when I read somewhere in XDA (in other device's forum) that changing the file system from f2fs to ext4 can help and did so and it worked. I could access my internal storage and everything on TWRP. But I didn't change the file system back to f2fs and sideloaded the elemental 8. It worked find and I installed it. When rebooting it got into bootloop. After that I tried to get into the TWRP but didn't work. I flashed the TWRP again which said flashed OK, but when I tried to enter it took me to the stock recovery. When I tried the dload method with the nougat B360 version, it gave me blank screen with red led blinking and nothing working after that. I tried dload with the oreo file which gave me back the stock recovery and erecovery, but again flashing TWRP didn't work. After dload, it reboots to erecovery and asks me to wipe data partition since it is severely corrupt but says factory reset failed. In some cases it does go factory reset but doesn't boot into OS. Since I do not have access to TWRP I am not able to bring it back. I had got into this situations before but the dload always worked. Maybe now it isn't because I am on Oreo and the partitions are different from Nougat? I also tried formatting/erasing partitions from fastboot but gives me error/ remote command not allowed. I also tried Multi-Tool8 and used the unbrick option. but doesn't work it gives me all flashed, and when i flash the oreo files gives me all flashed Error#1, Complete, Something went wrong and bootloops again or gives me blank screens.
I have attached a screenshot of my device info. If anyone could help me breath life into it.

What command you use to flash TWRP? And what image are you trying to flash? Try this. In Fastboot flash RECOVERY-V2.img (Elemental ROM TWRP) via command.
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY-V2.img
After it's flashed, press and Hold Power and Volume Up till you see Honor logo then let go. It Should boot to TWRP. If not then extract the Uodate.zip (the large one) and you will get Update.app and using Huawei Update Extractor extract System.img, Ramdisk.img and Recovery_ramdisk.img then boot phone to fastboot and flash them manually as
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk Recovery_ramdis.img
And,
fastboot flash system system.img
This should work. It's a boot error.
I was in same mode in fastboot when i updated to Oreo and it was b340 which saved me from this via dload. You give it a try.
You may not be able to flash twrp now as your BL me be locked after dload.

I did try that but from the unbrick option from Multi-Tool. And also there are two recovery images in the UPDATE.APP and I don't know which one to flash. When I tried from the Multi-Tool, it says you're trying to flash the wrong image. Also I think the boot partition in oreo is ramdisk? I am not sure... because there is no boot image in the unbrick option. Although I didn't try flashing them individually. I will try it and let you know. Thanks.

So the B340 dload didn't work for me. Gives the same results. Always boots into erecovery and then fails to factory reset. Also the phone doesn't get switched on or boot into recovery without connecting to the USB. Only when it is connected it works, that too after 5-10 mins after I press the Power button or the Recovery key combination. And I used a 4GB memory card, could this be the reason the dload didn't work?

You may need 8 GB SD card if you have or can borrow and see if that helps. Whats the size of update.app file?

Something around 3.3 GB. There's only some 250mb left in the card when I copy the update.app

Hi, so none of the methods work. But I could get back to TWRP for Elemental Rom. Still flashing roms from TWRP doesn't boot me in. And now the dload screen doesn't appear when I press the combination. All I have is fastboot mode, erecovery and TWRP installed. But none of the methods work. I am not able to figure what I am doing wrong!!
Try hurupdater.
http://https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
0.3 for nougat or 0.4 for oreo (in my case works)
And remember format data in first time
You need the firmware for your 6x...
Good luck!
hey i am in the same situation as yours, all i am able to boot into is fastboot, nothing beyond that is working, i have the extracted update.app for oreo , the last system i flashed was emui oreo , and nothing else is working i have tried all the options suggested.
