Question for anyone who has FastCharge enabled at bootup - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone tell me if fastcharge when enabled at boot on the N5, fast charges straight away when the USB cable is left plugged in during phone boot up. ie: if you power the phone from off when plugged in to USB, does it fast charge immediately or do you need to unplug and replug the USB cable? I want to buy one to use in a car environment, but don't have access to power button or USB connection....
Many Thanks
James

Anyone?
Also would HTC Desire charger work with it? (the sticks looks same - microUSB, but looks like the phone is not charging)
Also if the phone is dead, is there any way i can check if the battery/screen or whatever else is faulty?
When i connect it under Windows with USB cable, it says that the device cannot be recognized and the drivers cannot be installed.
When connected with USB, i did hold the power button to turn it on but it doesnt start and the phone keeps vibrating continuusly.
Look on the back, or inside, even under battery, for more information.
I already know it's Samsung Galaxy Mini II, homever i have issues turning it on.
All microusb chargers are the same except for amperage. Try all you have. This phone is probably terminally damaged, but try a new battery if possible.
It's really strange (the phone was little wet) homever, sometimes it's starting just fine and sometimes wont turn on at all.
I have removed battery and put it to the bowl with a rice for a night and will see if that helps.
My "dampness" recovery is to disassemble and put phone/tab/laptop in in very low oven ie 125-135 degrees F for several hours. You may have ti turn oven on & off manually to get that low temperature. Your mileage may vary.
OK so basically the phone is in following state:
It's charging fine, homever the biggest problem atm is i cannot get the usb mass storage to work.
I'm connecting it to the PC and the phone is detecting it as AC charger not USB - PC is not even trying to install any drivers.
PC is not detecting the phone at all (phone is detecting that its being connected, the button backlights are lighting up)
I got no dropdown in the phone to select charging, mass storage etc. (when i do it in settings/communication/usb settings it keeps saying to connect the usb cable, but the phone is charging so its connected just fine)
When i was connecting it for the first time windows tried to install drivers but failed, also it was constantly disconnecting the phone from usb cable (now its fine it seems)
When i connect it using "Kies Air" it's working homever i still dont see the SD Card in "My Computer" for example.
What a mess, anyway any idea how to get the USB working again?
Try different cable, and/or different PC.
I ordered new usb cable, homever i doubt it's the problem as the phone is recognizing connection and also it's charging fine.

[Q] USB Car charging - Different cables/Different results

Firstly, I'm asking on behalf of a friend (saves him signing up) so I don't know all the details
Anyway... I recently gave him a Car USB charger (I had one lying around) which I tested out in my car using my HTC Desire HD....just to make sure it worked...& it did
(not sure but I THINK the cable I use is a standard USB to MicroUSB cable - not sure if it's a 'Data/Charging' or just 'charging' though)
However, when he tried to charge his Samsung phone (sorry don't know which one) it didn't
(BTW he is using his own cable he had lying around)
He tells me that he plugs in the cable between car USB charger & the phone - the screen brightens, but the charging indicator doesn't 'animate' & after a few second the screen then dulls back down into standby
Now I suspect that perhaps it's the cable - but he assures me that the cable he used worked on the PC. making me think it's a Data/charging cable
I know there's a difference between 'Charging only' cables and 'Data/Charging' cables, something about a couple of pins may not be connected but onto my question.....
[Q] IF he was using a 'Data/Charging' cable on the car charger
- would his phone assume it's being connected to a PC & automatically go into 'data connection mode' but then (because there's no data) the screen then 'dulls' back to standby mode ??
- If so, why won't the phone go into 'Charge only' mode if it doesn't see any data signal instead ??
BTW On my HTC - if it sees data connection I get a popup asking what mode I'd like (if unlocked) but it automatically goes into 'charge' mode if it's locked - I'm thinking his Samsung does the opposite when 'locked'... going into 'data mode' instead
Thanks in advance

[Q] Regarding ElementalX Kernel

I have a custom USB peripheral that I use to communicate through USB OTG of the tablet. The device is wired in such a way, that I don't use a Y-cable. In the USB line, I have wired it so that the device can either be powered by the tablet, or it can be powered by an external power supply.
Scenario A:
---------------
When the USB peripheral device is self-powered, it directs power to itself and sends the power to the tablet as well. The tablet is charging while hosting the peripheral device. The USB connection is still intact.
When the power is pulled, the USB peripheral device shuts off completely. What should happen is when the power is pulled, the tablet should detect this and start supplying power to the USB peripheral. This doesn't happen for some reason, until the tablet is rebooted. When the tablet reboots, it detects that there is a USB device plugged in, and starts supplying power.
Scenario B:
--------------
When the USB peripheral is bus-powered, (meaning the tablet is currently supplying power to peripheral device and is currently hosting it), plugging in the power to the peripheral SHOULD start charging the tablet. This doesn't happen. Instead, the tablet continues to discharge.
So basically, I would like the tablet to supply power to the USB device when it detects that the power is gone. Alternatively, when the tablet detects power coming into its port, it should start charging.
Because I custom made the USB peripheral device, I am able to manually force the host to re-enumerate the device by pulling down the 1.5K pullup (hopefully you know which one I am talking about). Do you think this will work? In my application, I wouldn't have access to the OTG adapter and therefore I wouldn't be able to pull it out from the tablet. [That's what he said...]
How would I come to realize in my app that the power is lost and I need to re-initialize a new handle for the USB stream? Suppose I am able to do this, re-initializing the USB port will enable the tablet to start charging again?
Thanks.

Cable data stop working after being used to charge power bank

Hello all,
To put it simple:
1. I buy oneplus power bank
2. Charge it with my original opo cable and charger
3. My oneplus didnt recognized as storage when connected to PC yet it is shown in charging state.
What I have tried:
1. enable disable usb debugging
2. select usb connection mode (mtp or charging or pnp) but it is not available
3. Recognized as storage using other cable data which havent been used to charged the power bank.
My question is : is it normal that your data cable will broken as soon as you use it as power bank's charging cable?
Nope, I think that's virtually impossible, have you tried using other cable to connect your phone with the PC?

Nexus 5 OTG help needed

Dear,
I am trying to connect my logitech F310 via USB OTG.
When I plug it in, the power light on the controller is still off. However, when plugged in to the PC, it turns on.
Whenever I plug in a keyboard, it works fine. USB flashdrive power light is on but I can't read data from it.
My OTG cable is only powered via the phone, is it a possible solution for me to solder two extra wires for some extra power?
Thanks in advance!
~Luca
