Beware of the Ultra Stamina mode. - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems to be a common issue among the Xperia devices not only on the Z5, it will make most of the applications disappear after restarting back from the Ultra Stamina mode, the applications are still there, but cannot be opened, I checked different forums and so far I could not find any solution that does not require root or a factory reset. Any suggestion on how to fix it would be appreciated.

Autorotation upside down (Galaxy S4)

I have read many threads on this subject, but all of the solutions on this and many other sites, involve flashing roms. My wife's phone (SPH-L720) is rotating 180 degrees off, causing apps, photos, web pages, menus, etc. to be upside down. Her phone is stock and not rooted. Sometimes autorotation doesn't rotate at all, where it normally would. She is against rooting (she doesn't know mine is) so rooting isn't an option. Factory resetting the phone does nothing to fix the problem and recalibrating does nothing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Galaxy S7 Rotation Stopped Working - Hint / Solution

Hey guys, just wanted to post my experience with my non-rooted at&t Galaxy s7. A few weeks ago it randomly stopped rotating the screen. I tried everything short of a factory reset: the obvious setting, every display option I could find, sensors fine in diag mode, clearing cache, installing the force rotation app, installing updates, enabling / disabling apps, countless reboots, etc. I finally decided to try throwing it in the Gear VR headset and like magic if FINALLY started rotating again. Not sure how helpful this is, but figured I'd throw it out to hopefully help others having the same issue. It seems to be a somewhat common issue with no common or known cause.

Strange 6.0.1 Face Unlock Behaviour

Hello everyone, I have been searching for this specific issue and have found nothing, apologies if this has been addressed. First, I am on my second week of Android after 6 years of iOS so please bear with me, I may not have all the terminology down.
I am running a Nexus 5 (bootloader unlocked if that matters) with 6.0.1, otherwise stock. It was a new-in-box model with 4.4.3 loaded, I updated by flashing it rather than a side-load. I was having the following issues with Face Unlock:
1. First issue, Face Unlock would randomly stop working, when you go into the settings to 'Improve Face Matching' it would report that 'Google Play services has stopped'. This would be accompanied by an increase in processor demand from Trusted Face and a severe drain to the battery, I am assuming it was frequently trying to connect to Google Play. No issue in Safe Mode. This was resolved by disabling Google Play and reinstalling the latest version.
2. Second issue, Face Unlock would again randomly stop working, but this would be accompanied by the Camera also failing to function. I would either get a 'Camera cannot be accessed' report or just a blank screen (camera controls visible, but no picture in the viewfinder). Going to 'Improve Face Matching' would report a problem with the camera. No issue in Safe Mode, so I am assuming the camera hardware was fine. This was resolved by disabling the Camera app and reinstalling the latest version. I had to do this twice, along with the Google Play update, before it worked consistently. This would again result in a reported drain coming from both 'Trusted Face' and the Camera app, again I am assuming it was constantly trying to connect to the Camera.
3. Last issue, Face Unlock randomly stops working, with no issues reported in either the camera or Face Unlock settings. no change in battery life and no reported processor demand using System Monitor Lite. If I open 'Improve Face Matching' I get the white screen with white dots with a permanent "Starting up..." notice. This is easy to fix, a reboot always gets it working again. Usually it stops within 6-10 hours of use, sometimes shorter or longer. Rebooting into Safe Mode also fixes the problem, but I am not sure if that is just because of the reboot. I have not run Safe Mode long enough to replicate the issue.
Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot? I suppose I can just disable Face Unlock but I find it quite handy. It seems to be a little bit different than the plethora of other Nexus 5 camera / Smart Unlock problems I have been reading up on.

Z5 problems, share your thoughts and help me

My z5 started to lag a lot. Too much app crashes. Mostly youtube, every day when picture is freezing but audio continue to work and i must go to home screen and then clear all apps and go to youtube again. And instagram not working too often.. Not happy at all with Phone performance. I did everything, factory reset, deleting apps and nothing.. Do you have same problems or somebody have solotion? Phone is just one year old, and it was working fine at start. Pls help i cant buy New right now
This is on stock ROM? Because that's extremely odd and I have no idea how you'd go about troubleshooting. Personally I have no issues with my E6653, rock stable and great performance.
Have you tried flashing a different version of the stock ROM via Flashtool? MM perhaps? At least then you can determine whether it's hardware or software.

I have noticed that as well however YouTube would crash with no warning and show static on the screen, locking up the phone. However I realized that my case was not good at dissipating heat, so my phone would overheat. Removing my case stopped the issue entirely as far as I can tell. See if removing your case helps.

All issues Android 10 update xz2 compact

I think it would be useful to have a collection of all bugs of the android 10 update. From my point of view it is a disaster.
I noticed the following (after I factory reset it) :
Touch issues - touching the screen lightly does nothing. I have the actually tap it... This makes writing a pain, as hard to reach keys do not always register
Backlight auto adjustment issues - now it's very aggressive and basically stupid. I'm sitting in home, in the evening, almost without moving, definetly in the same spot and the backlight just jumps around in big increments
Lag and shutter in daily usage - a restart solves this for a couple of hours...
apps are now often reloaded - memory manager is too agresive and kills background apps
GPS NOT WORKING. It was flawless before update ?
build-in swiftKey keyboard does NOT remember how and where you type IF you change the keyboard layout /position (compact, split, side, etc...). This essentially makes it useless
A factory reset is not enough , try software repair using Sony companion
Im not having touch or GPS issues, but my phone is definitely slower and laggier since the upgrade to android 10. ALso my battery seems to be depleting faster. Is there any way to roll back to 9?

Wifi is often lost and quickly reconnects
fingerprint sensor isn´t as sensitive as it was before
battery drain is bigger than before
bluetooth pairing with tablet doesn´t work properly...being paired: YES, but no connection at all...tried three different tablets...bluetooth headphones work!
The camera application is crashing when I take photos.... :crying:
I really haven't faced any of those issues. The fingerprint is the only things that have become laggy, the phone is louder now when playing music, camera works great even with unlocked bootloader.
You should try to do a clean install with newflasher my phone is even rooted and works great.

Scratch that... I am experiencing all the issues from OP's post. It is especially severe when trying to use two apps at the same time in split screen.
Sony mobile engineers answer my bug report
Android Beam doesn't work (transferring files by touching two phones with NFC).
Nothing works on this phone any more!
I will never buy another Sony phone and surely I will advice others against buying such sh*t.
------------------
I contacted the Sony support in my country and they said "the download must have been corrupt" and I "should try to reinstall" via the Xperia companion (some kind of desktop app).
Mind boggling is the fact that this answer comes "directly from Sony engineers".
Now... I guess it is clear for everyone why they f*ucked this phone so bad. Their engineers think that a corrupt file can 1) be installed successfully 2) cause all these bugs...

Why factory reset is not enough?
If the corect procedure is to use that "companion", WHY they pushed the update via OTA?

The only brand who has this crappy issue is Sony ! Companion fills all the missing files or damaged files .. during the ota download and installation sometimes things go wrong
For everyone reading this thread: there is no such thing as instalation with corrupt or missing files.
All files in today's IT world are uniquely identified and double checked after download.
Their answear is only a way of not telling us that they f*cked up this + they think that we are stupid. Some of us might be fooled by this, but surely the majority won't be.
We have primarily the camera issue, a reboot resolves it temporarily.
Anyone managed to fix these issues with a fresh Sony companion install?
52.1.A.0.618 here. Fingerprint is slower and the battery drains faster while screen on. (Standby and deep sleep are both ok). Everything else is the same as Pie, at least for me.
Add me to list of unhappy xz2 compact owners. Phone is almost unusable since the update. More often than not the finger scanner only works when you press the power button first, it lags awfully in most apps, I get errors in apps I never did before, battery drain is about the same as previous. Overall this is my last Sony. Very very poor. Should add I did full companion restore and it made zero difference
I have to add my voice to this thread, short as it happily/sadly is. Since the update I've experienced a number of issues: Fingerprint scanner is less sensitive and sometimes doesn't work, the wake-up procedure is strange, in that the icons will appear before the background loads and even though I have security set to not show notification details on the lock screen, they'll reveal for a split second before waking up to the home screen, the camera is unreliable, the timer app doesn't reset or dismiss when appearing on the notification bar..
It's the first time I've ever emailed Sony Support on what was (and I hope still will be) my favourite ever phone. They of course just tell me to factory reset. Such a shame and I hope they fix it.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure what is wrong. I have not factory restored my phone. That is ridiculous
I also add the bug of Google Assistant in Stamina Mode:
I always keep It disabled when long press home button, but when Stamina Mode turns on, Google Assistant switches on again automatically although in settings shows that is off.
wow its been 2 years since I bought the XZ2C, had issues with the wifi and data so I went back to android 8.0, and use it for O2 priority only. Came back to see if android 10 fixed the problems. Disappointing.
I am not surprised at all that Sony still hasn't fixed any of the issues.
With today's New Update the the voicemail-Record-Volume Bug is fixed.
Finally. Too good to bei true.

there are still a lot of vital features that were bugged in android10 and i´m not sure they´ll be adressed in the near future.
