Galaxy S7 Rotation Stopped Working - Hint / Solution - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys, just wanted to post my experience with my non-rooted at&t Galaxy s7. A few weeks ago it randomly stopped rotating the screen. I tried everything short of a factory reset: the obvious setting, every display option I could find, sensors fine in diag mode, clearing cache, installing the force rotation app, installing updates, enabling / disabling apps, countless reboots, etc. I finally decided to try throwing it in the Gear VR headset and like magic if FINALLY started rotating again. Not sure how helpful this is, but figured I'd throw it out to hopefully help others having the same issue. It seems to be a somewhat common issue with no common or known cause.

[Q] Accelerometer, orientation, gyroscope dead. Fixable?

My phone is a LG Optimus G (a F180 converted to E975, stock Euro firmware), but from googling this issue it seems to be a problem that can strike any phone with no readily apparent solution...
I first noticed it while playing Star Wars KOTOR, where it'd get stuck; flipping the phone (to better orient the charging lead) started leaving the picture upside down. Initially, I could fix it by long-pressing the home button to get at my notification bar and toggling auto-rotate off and on, before it crapped out entirely (necessitating an orientation-locking app), which led me to think it was a software issue...
But after googling the problem and seeing how widespread it is, I'm thinking maybe these sensors are just prone to failing? I saw all sorts of possible solutions offered, which apparently work for some, but it seems nothing solves it for many, including factory resets and flashing firmware... I uninstalled KOTOR when I was done with it, but to no avail. I don't fancy figuring out how to flash the firmware again, but if that's what it takes...
Does anyone know anything about this issue? Am I stuck with a slightly crippled phone now?

Vibrations not working?

Hi all,
I've had my S2 classic since January but since the latest update introducing auto brightness thing and flight mode, vibrations have stopped working. If I switch off and back on again it's fine and works as it should but I'm assuming since I put it on charge the vibrations stopped again, though again a reboot sorts it.
While it's easy to sort it is pretty annoying to have to do it every day just wondering if anyone else has the same issue and how I can fix it hopefully without having to factory reset it?
Hi,
I think I just got the same issue today with my Gear S2 classic, latest update. It didn't vibrate despite an active notification. Still have to check if it works after reboot.

How do I fix my screen rotation?

I just purchased my Samsung galaxy S7 yesterday and the screen rotation worked fine until today, the screen rotation did not work at all so I started looking for a way to fix it(factory reset, restart, making sure I had auto rotation activated, tried scanning the gyroscope sensor but it failed) without having to make my own post but here we are, what do you think I can do to fix this?
As its a day old I would return the phone to the store. you've done more than I would have if it's that new.
Looks like a hardware issue, since it exists even after a restart.
do check your rotation setting

Rez Infinite: black screen issue

Anyone else having the problem that only a black screen appears when Rez Infinite is started? The middle indicator for the Daydream is visible, also the "X" on the upper left and the settings gear on the upper right, but nothing else is happening. It doesn't matter how I installed it (Playstore or within Daydream), how I start it. I have tried rebooting, deleting app data from all involved apps, nothing helps. What I haven't tried so far is a factory reset, and downgrading to Android 8.0. In the Playstore there are two reviews which describe the exact same behaviour on the Pixel 2 with Android 8.1.0, so it might be a problem with this constellation. Several other VR apps work fine, I haven't found another VR app that does nothing but a black screen so far (tried a handful).
This is really a bummer, I basically only bought the Daydream for Rez Infinite...
Hi kendong2! Yes, I have the same problem wit Rez. Also happens to me with Darknet and a few other daydream apps. I'm on a Pixel XL though. Also latest official 8.1. And I'm also really looking forward to a fix for this. Anybody else experiencing similar issues? Or maybe someone already has a solution or we can figure it out?
Hello again. I just came back to report that the game is working now. I did a fresh install of Android P DP2 when it came out and decided to give it another shot last night and it worked.

Camera issues

Hello I was wondering if anyone has any help with issue I started having with camera, it started closing it self after 2 seconds of opening. I tried clearing cache, restarting phone, and clearing apps permission and can't seem to fix the issue! I noticed that if I turn off Bluetooth the camera doesn't closes and works with no issue, any help would be greatly appreciated so I don't have to factory reset phone. Thanks
Did you recently update your phone?
On my N8 and Galaxy Tab S4, the camera app would crash, so I installed Open Camera. Really enjoyed using Open Camera on both devices, so I also installed it on the N20U.
I always use open camera because a couple of things, record video while on call and flashlight while picture because spammy doesn't know how to do either, way too complicated for spams ham. yet open can can't quite focus as good as spam, well I can only guess it's because spam hoarded stuff away from other cam apps, sounds like something spam would do anyway.
never seen the stock cam close after couple seconds those, does alternate can app work?
