[Completed] Marshmallow, SD Card as Internal Storage and TWRP (wiping data) - XDA Assist

So, as everyone should know, latest Android 6 aka Marshmallow has the new way for using SD Cards. I won't discuss the idea and usage of this, my question is very specific.
I have:
1. CM13 on Moto G 4G (peregrine)
2. TWRP 2.8.7.0
3. SD Card formatted as Internal Storage.
Sometimes, it's good to make factory reset/wiping data before installing a new ROM. At the same time, SD Card formatted as Internal Storage is encrpyted and can't be used after such resets. Is there a way to save those data and to use this formatted partition after factory reset using TWRP?
As I understand, now TWRP doesn't support it. But what about saving information about partition from /data? Maybe such information stored somewhere and I can backup it and then resotre it by myself? Any ideas?
For now, I see that the only solution is to use SD Card as Portable Storage.

Hello,
Before flashing a new ROM it is better to undo the mod that uses sdcard as internal and then flashing the ROM then reapplying the mod to use sdcard as internal.
I imagine there are several ways to update and retain everything the way you have.

[Q] Is internal storage safe?

I'm freshly rooted, and will soon work out the SD card issue. On my X2, I love using Astro to back up all my apps. This way, if I need to, etc. I can restore them en masse, without visiting all the markets, etc.
With CWM, I can make nandroids too.
BOTH these would go to the SD card on my X2. Neither go to the SD card on the Xoom (for now). So, if I just say, "who cares" and let them drop to the internal storage, is that safe? Meaning, if I have to do resets, etc. wipes and such, does the internal storage act like an SD card? Or does it get wiped too?

Your nandroid backup through CWM should be saved on your external sdcard ...if it isn't you must have updated to the recovery version 4.0.0.x which doesn't recognize your external sdcard and only uses your internal storage. You won't be able to flash anything from your sdcard either.
I suggest you go into Rom manager to all clockwork recoveries and choose an earlier Xoom recovery...preferably 3.2.0.0 if it's available, or get it from solarnz's thread in development. That way you'll get your nandroid back on your sdcard for safekeeping.
I looked, I do have the 3 version, and am backing up as I type! Thank you!

[Q] Missing 2nd Partition on my tablet...

Hi.. First of all I am new to this forum (actually a semi-noob on android stuffs) and I don't even know if I posted on the right thread (If I did please let me know or delete it or move it to where it should be and I'm sorry).
I've been searching for a while all over the internet to find a solution on how to recover the missing 2nd partition on the internal storage of my tablet but I can't seem to find a solution. How did I end up missing my 2nd partition? I think this is what happened:
1.) I installed a custom rom (cm10) on my shw-m180s, and it worked fine at first. I was able to download apps until my internal phone storage got full so I decided to make a partition on cwm (so that I can put some data files and apps there by using link2sd).I went to recovery mode then I put 2gb as ext and swap file as 256mb (if I'm not mistaken) because I have a 16gb internal sd card (I don't have external sd card though), after that, I rebooted then checked if I am able to use the ext part but I was not so sure so what I did was to do a full wipe and deleted everything (data, cache, dalvik cache, other format options on storage) then reflashed the original stock rom.
2.) Now I manage to use my stock rom and checked if I managed to restore the 2gb ext, but no, it didn't show on my internal memory. It only shows 14gb (or 12.68gb to be exact). So clearly the 2gb just went to some place I don't know where exactly and I don't think it was completely gone maybe just hidden somewhere in my tablet. I installed link2sd to check the partitions and it says that SD Card 2nd Partition not found.
3.) Tried to reformat the sd card through laptop (even used minitool partition but that too didn't work) and now I am stuck. I can't seem to find a way to recover that 2gb internal memory.
Hoping to find some answer here in xda where there are lots of experts and good people that helps others.
Have a nice day everyone.

[Q] The mysterious case of the "invisible" SD card

Smartphone Newman N1 with lingfude ICS custom ROM.
I extended the userdata partition following this guide. Unfortunately, after flashing the phone wasn't able to property start Android anymore (but I was able to start in Recovery Mode).
So I have re-installed the ROM (factory reset and wipe all the data) and now the phone it's OK, except for the SD card. It seems like I have no SD card at all.
Some facts:
The SD is OK. I tested it on both PC and on a different smartphone, no problem at all.
The SD is correctly formatted FAT32 (no multiple partitions).
In Recovery Mode I can still access to the SD card . I can mount/unmount it, I can even install software from it in Recovery Mode.
I think the problem is related to the extension of the userdata partition but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

No Internal SD, TWRP shows internal storage (0mb)

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Well I'm guilty of reading around for a while, but this is my first post! I'm using the LG G3 from AT&T (D850 10f) still on stock kitkat ROM. I rooted the phone through stump bruteforce and then tried to flash TWRP (bump) as per this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/orig-development/bump-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-t2900569
However, I think I may have put the image file in the external SD instead of the internal SD. Now I can't see the internal SD card partition on the internal storage (not sure it was there to begin with) and when I load TWRP and try to create a backup it shows: Internal storage (0mb).
I tried to create a backup on the external SD but it goes through the whole process and fails in the end (no surprises there).
Anyone ever face this, know how I can fix this? I haven't slept much just been reading and scanning through the forum trying to find a solution.
TIA.
Alright, all fixed! I guess I was too sleepy doing this yesterday, I basically unrooted my phone and did it right this time.
On CM12.1 now!

[Completed] I can't partition internal memory.

Got a Tab10DUALC Sunstech tablet (RK3066 chip, 8 GB Flash NAND).
As I started to install some apps it quickly became out of space, checking storage settings I found out that internal storage was about 1gb full and Nand flash 5.26gb free.
So I started to search how to root it and after a lot of trials and errors I got to flash CWM and root it.
Now, I wanted to make a partition out of that 5gb non used space but when I tried that with CWM recovery (advanced, partition) despite having doing it correctly, when the tab restarted it all reseted back to the way it was, this is, no ext2 or whatever.
I've tried just about everything, Link2SD tells me there's no SD CARD 2nd Part. I went to recovery and mounted USB and tried partition it with Mini Tool Partition Wizard and while succeed, when restarting, the tab reported bad SD so made me reformat (Link2SD reported unmountable 2nd Part) so it all came back to the way before, no partition.
Could it be some safe measure or something that doesn't allow me to get this partitioned? I've tried just about everything and can't come up with any other ideas. I mean, I don't want to use my only mini SD card if I can help it, I just don't understand why I can't use that extra 5gb while running out of space on the internal memory.
I also tried moving a few apps to SD and got all kind of errors like not loading.
