Hi, I updated my HTC One M8 today (stock ROM) to Android 6 via an OTA update sent to the phone.
The update went fine - no error messages. But after the final reboot, I am getting constant (and I mean constant, not every few seconds) errors that all process are stopping. Particularly, after everything else has stopped, I get repeated messages about android.process.acore, android.process.media, Google Services Framework, and Google Play services unexpectedly stopping (I guess these are the ones that keep starting up and failing). By pressing "OK" or "close" on these messages, sometimes I can press something very quickly before another message pops up. In this ridiculous manner, I was able to do/find out the following:
- Pressing the home button shows me the white screen with "htc" written on it, like on phone startup
- Pressing the recent-apps button actually does show me the recent apps and I can click on them, though most of them just close right after I open them. Some work (like I can receive phone calls; I just don't hear the phone ring, and I have to press the "talk" button in between pressing OK on error messages)
- I can get into the settings screen. In this way, I tried:
- Disabling one by one every app I could - no help
- Clearing cache & data for all contact & calendar app I could find, and also for Google Services Framework
- I tried to remove my Google accounts from the "accounts and sync" menu, but whenever I press "Remove" it gives me the Google Services Framework has stopped error.
I also tried booting into the recovery screen and clearing the cache partition.
Nothing works!! Please can anyone help me save my phone without wiping it? Unfortunately, since I started the Android update by accident (pressed "now" instead of "later"), I didn't backup anything beforehand... and while my contacts and calendars are always backed up, my apps & preferences & media files are not. I also tried connecting to a computer via USB, but while the computer recognizes the phone, I cannot actually access the files (I see it as a drive, but when I open it there are no files or folders) - so no possibility to back up the files in that way...
Thank you!!

So I have rooted my Droid X and have removed bloats that I don't use (e.g. Kindle, blockbuster, etc.). So now I notice that because of removing those apps that I am unable to upgrade my OS. So what I did was find the .apk and .opex files online for the programs I have removed and the reinstalled them. Well here's where my issue begins. After I reinstalled all the apps I removed I powered my phone down and restarted it. Upon its reboot an error came up saying "the application Voice Commands (process com.nuance.android.vsuite.vsuiteapp) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.) Then it has a force close button on the bottom of the message. I hit the force close button and the error message continues to pop up again. It keeps me from being able to do anything with my phone. Please if anyone can assist me with this I will be extremely grateful, even if it means getting it back to factory reset.
Thanks
Chris
Hello and thanks for your efforts! I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G SGH - T769 for T Mobile but as I have Verizon I can not use it, so I decided to use it as a toy basically. I did a factory data reset then successfully rooted it using blaze-root-kernel.tar, blaze.pit, and using Odin 1.85 and everything was working fine. I installed Titanium Backup pro, backed up entire phone which was basically just the stock apps, just for the purpose of removing bloatware and if necessary restoring them later. My daughter got ahold of my phone, went into Titanium and froze, and uninstalled the contacts app. I restored it but because it was frozen it did not appear in my applications window. Of course I tried defrosting it but when I would check it still wasn't showing up. Also I noticed that the phone app was gone too. Im not sure if she deleted them, I guess it's possible. I tried rebooting after restoration, nothing. So I did another factory data reset, which I read in a few places would not harm my phone to do so after it's been rooted. After the factory reset it had all the animations and went to screen that says touch the droid to start. I touched it. It said to sign in to google account I hit sign in button and the screen went black and kept showing messages saying twlauncher has unexpectedly stopped and another saying android.process.acore has unexpectedly stopped. I re-performed the rooting process ( blaze-root-kernel.tar, blaze.pit, Odin 1.85 )stil nothing. Any how now when I turn on my phone the lock screen works but when I swipe everything goes black again and the messages (unexpectedly stopped) appear every few seconds. I can however see and pull down notifcations bar menu and play with wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc. Its actually connected to the house wifi right now. I can also long press the home button and pull up recent applications menu (its empty) and I can also enter task manager from here. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated!
To start off, recently out of the blue, whenever I would open any app and had other apps already open, the current app I would be on would close. For example, after trying to open the Google Play Music app and having it close seven times after opening it, it'll finally let me open the app and then listen to music. I click the change song button and then the app crashes with a notification saying this or just crashes without one. I read also this had to do with the Google Play Services app. I disabled it and enabled it twice. No difference at all.
This is for all applications and drove me insane. I eventually decided to research it and came up with the answer of resetting the cache partition. I did so but then was stuck in boot loop. I wasn't really sure what to do at this point. Perhaps this was a mistake but, I decided to factory reset my phone. Now, the boot loop only vibrates and goes to the light-green Motorola symbol. Nothing else for hours.
The previous times I've had to reset this phone (about four now) the device would show the commands it's doing and then you would see it finish. It didn't do it this time, simply saying resetting cache and reformatting.
I'm lost at this point.
Perhaps someone will have knowledge about this?
Try to reinstall rom from fastboot.

Original post:
"Hi all,
Been forever since I've made a post to XDA, but I have a problem I'm not able to solve without taking an inconvenient plunge. I should mention that my phone was 100% fine yesterday evening, but since I was asleep last night it seems to have run out of battery, so this morning I charged it a bit, then I turned it on to a world of problems.
Ok, so let me run through a list of just a handful of the problems I'm having right now...
Totally stock (not rooted) Nexus 5 running Android 6.0.1 (Security: 1 March 2016)
1. Home and App switch soft keys don't work
2. Notifcations are not working at all
3. Notification shade wont pull down
4. Widgets cannot, and will not load
5. Cannot get into Developer options "Developer options are not available for this user"
Seems I'm not the only one to experience the strange bug, some folks over at Android Central were experiencing the exact same thing toward the end of last year.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...me-button-not-working-many-more-problems.html
Some people to have resolved this issue using "adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity" but I cannot get into Developer options to turn on USB Debugging (unless I don't need to?)
What I've tried already...
1. Cleared all Google App data "CLEAR ALL DATA"
2. Tried to make another user, just flashes and goes back to "Opula" my main and broken user profile, never creates the other profile, same thing happens when I press on Guest too
3. Safe mode, but the problem persists there too
4. Virus scan, turned up a whole lot of nothing
I'm now at the point where I'm thinking I'm going to have to do a Factory data reset (the "inconvenient plunge"), even though I think I've backed everything up the "Touch to sync" option on my Account > Google doesn't do anything, neither does the "Sync now" from the drop down menu. So despite having explored my Google account on my desktop I cannot see if it has backed up my Apps and App data, but it seems to have backed up my contacts and such.
I'm going to get a third party app to back up as stuff as I possibly can as well, but even Helium is useless now since I cannot get into the Developer options so enable USB debugging.
Anyone got any experience with this issue or how to resolve it?
Many thanks to everyone in advance."
Hi all,
Just wanted to update this thread to say that I did a factory reset and the phone is now fixed, but I wouldn't to give a more comprehensive account of the problems I was experiencing with the phone until I did the factory reset.
List of problems
Home and app-switch soft keys not working (back key is working)
Google Now 'on tap' not appearing (cause of home key)
Cannot see notifications just says "No notifications" (but the light and sound work fine when a notification is received)
Cannot pull down notification shade to toggle controls
Widgets cannot be added and will not load
Cannot pull down the immersive mode overlay
Google Backup not working (after 8+ days)
All types of syncing not working
Phone's storage doesn't appear on PC when plugged in via USB
Cannot access developer options (due to active profile level)
Cannot create or switch users
The best advice I can give to mitigate such an unusual problem (that appeared totally out of the blue on a cold boot) is use Google Backup services, keep on top of syncing, and manage your data via your Google account! Or as an alternative, manage and maintain manual backups.
As soon as I boot my phone I'm bombarded with constant popups saying that "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped", along with many other processes such as Launcher3 (mostly Google apps). Even after pressing OK it pops back up after 2-3 seconds!
Because of this I can't even use my phone anymore. Only thing I could do was get into Settings but only for a limited time since it will also crash after a few minutes.
I did a bit of research and found other people who had the same problem, but their solutions didn't work for me.
I've tried clearing the data and cache of Google Play and Google Play Services, but they wouldn't work. It seems that the "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache" buttons wouldn't work. I tried disabling and deactivating Services but it wouldn't work for me either.
I also tried disabling Sync and deleting my accounts but the delete button wouldn't work.
I didn't know what to do from there so I just decided to factory reset my phone, but after rebooting no data was erased!
What should I do??!!
