Bluetooth disconnection cause sport activity not to be measure exactly ! - Samsung Gear S2

Hello
The problem with s2 is that , after a period of time, it disconnects from the phone. I'm talking about the s2 non 3g version, that from the official specs it doesn,t have GPS. The local store where i bought the watch it said that it has internal GPS, so that's why I bought this watch in the first place. Anyway, in health activty, like running, after a 6 km running, the s2 only showed me 5.5, because it disconnected a period of time from the phone. Why in the hell is disconnecting when you are in an sport activity, isn't this the main reason that you sell this watch, Samsung ? I am so pissed of this, I will sell it if they do not fix it in an update. When you are running, cycling or any gps monitorised activity, the s2 SHOULD NOT DISCONNECT from the phone until you stop the sport activity ! If you know any fix to this problem, please share it ! Thanks !
P.S. Correct me if I am wrong, this is only a suposition !

50% error in GPS tracking a walk on S2 3G in standalone mode

I walked a 5K downtown with the Gear S2 3G in standalone mode, starting and stopping at the finish line, and the S Health summary screen says I only went 1.8mi, a little more than half of a 5K, 3.1mi. That's a tremendous error.
What's strange, though, is the map of my path is accurate, and if you use a tool like Google Earth to create a path roughly following this picture, you'll get about 3mi. The area is downtown Knoxville, if you're wanting to try it out. Race course map is also attached.
I don't see how it can draw the map correctly and then be unable to measure the distance of the line.
Yep...Gear S had same problem. Needs a better GPS tracker

I wrote a pretty long review of my similar experience. I saw your post before buying and decided to try it anyway. When I got to the end of my street, my Garming Forerunner said .40 miles and my watch said .20. This is using the AT&T version with the GPS. Pretty terrible.
Its a shame because it was really nice as a smart watch. I would really love to get a running watch that doubles as a smart watch. I can't justify the smart watch alone. Really putting hope into the Moto 360 Sport....
I am glad I found this thread. I purchased an S2 3G for the sole purpose of replacing my Moto 360 and using it as a standalone GPS running watch. I am 2 days away from reaching the end of the 14-day return window and had not yet used it on a run.
So after reading this thread, I immediately went for a run. I am glad I did. The watch is going back to T-Mobile tomorrow. I ran with the watch in standalone mode and with my phone so that I could compare the two.
According to my phone using Runkeeper, I ran 2.16 miles; the watch: 2.02 miles. Also the watch lost GPS signal after walking under a tree. I then compared the maps. Runkeeper had an accurate map of the entire run. S Health only tracked on the map something the equivalent of a quarter mile but yet showed 2.02 miles.
Thank you guys for bringing this to my attention.
Edit: I too hope great things for the Moto 360 Sport.

If youre looking for a running watch, I ended up getting a Garmin Foreunner 230. Smart watch wise, it doesn't come close to the Gear S2, but is great for running. 10 hours with GPS active. I can even see what side of the road ran on during a past run.
You get Notifications, but can't respond to them. The screen isn't backlit either, but front lit. I don't see me liking the Moto 360 Sport better than this, but I figure I can return the Forerunner if the reviews are good for the Moto.

I am a runner and I first tried Garmin Forerunner 235. Smartwatch features doesn't come close to Gear S2 but GPS worked perfectly and runner software features were great. My wife wanted me to be reachable when I run so I returned it and got gear s2 with great hopes. Unfortunately I didn't read these forums, there was one good review somewhere else and I got mine from t-mobile last weekend. However, gps is really bad. I believe some of the issues can be resolved with software updates but if the gps reception is bad, there won't be any remedy for that. I will try a few more days and return probably. I tried to attach the screenshots from a walk recorded with gear s2 nike+ and runkeeper on galaxy s4.

I'm in the same boat. I talked about it more in the Nike+ thread, but my watch is currently at Samsung being diagnosed. I'm not hopeful that it will be fixed though, seeing that everyone else is having the same issue.
Has anyone compared the Moto Sport 360 GPS to the Gear S2 3G GPS?
Also, do we know anything about what type of GPS chips they both use? It doesn't look like iFixit has done a teardown on either device yet.

Hello everyone.
I have a s2 3g gear and when I use the s-health of the clock to register my race training it does not record the route taken with the internal gps. Now if instead of opting for a race training I start a bicycle training the gear s2 makes the registration of the course from the beginning to the place of termination of the training on the map. Is there any way to make the s2 record the route taken in the race training? Or does my gear have a problem? Because that does not make any sense if it's the way that samsung programmed the app!

Note 5, Gear S2 Classic: Bluetooth connection cycling

I have a Note 5 and a Samsung Gear S2 Classic. The bluetooth connection between them, at times, is very intermittent. Sometimes, the connection stays rock solid for hours.
Sometimes, it disconnects, I reconnect using the Gear app, and it disconnects again as soon as I put the phone to sleep. I'll cycle through this four or five times, then it finally stays connected. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, since it has occasionally disconnected with the phone awake and the Gear app on screen. Oh, and it isn't a range problem unless 3 feet is too far between them.
Samsung support walked me through a factory reset of the watch and uninstall/reinstall of the gear app, but it didn't resolve the problem...trying to find enough time to once again be online with them.
Prior to the Gear S2, I had a Pebble Time, which never lost connection.

Hi,
have you found any solution to your problem yet? I encounter exactly the same one with a Honor 7.
I got both my phone and watch one week ago and connexion is most often lost as soon as the smartphone goes asleep. This makes my gear S2 classic absolutly unuseable for notifications and connected functions (which is the main reason I bought the watch for, I would have bought a normal watch if I just needed to get the time :crying.
For information, my honor is based on a Lollipop 5.0.2 OS.
Thanks for your help.
I can tell you that I have the Gear S2 and Note 5 and there is no issue at all with mine, so it is not a compatibility thing at all. There may be some issue with your gear s2 or note 5

Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Just picked up a standard Gear S2 and updated the firmware. However, it's constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to my Galaxy S7 edge. Bluetooth stays connected for all my other devices. Any tips?

I'm having the same issue with my S2 Classic, but I've got a SGS7. Both are running stock software/firmware. My issue started a couple days ago, so I'm thinking an update was applied to something that introduced this issue. I am hopeful it will be fixed in a future update (sooner than later).

How often is yours disconnecting? Mine was every few minutes. Today it's been flawless. Weird.

I have the same problem and it is very annoying, bluetooth keeps disconnecting from my car, specially during calls and then tries to reconnect again. This never happened to me before in any smartphone so this is a specific problem from the S7. I tried clean cache etc. but the problem continues. Sometimes the call can go 15 minutes without disconnecting, other times it disconnects 2 times in 5 minutes, but it happens everyday twice at least. This is a very strange problem, can't find any solution. It is driving me nuts specially in a 700 euros phone!!
not only on S7
It's the same here with a Gear S2 Classic and a Huawei P8max. A few minutes after being connected (manually) the Gear disconnects.
I just switched over from my S7 edge to a Moto Maxx I had in a drawer - no disconnects today. Gonna swap out my S7 Edge for a replacement I guess.
Replacement didn't disconnect until I switched on high accuracy GPS. When I switch GPS over to power saving, the disconnects stop (so far).
Anyone else noticed a correlation with high accuracy GPS being turned on and frequent Bluetooth disconnects?
After working with three different S7's (2 edge's and one regular) as well as a Droid Maxx, I found that the phones would regularly disconnect when I had High Accuracy GPS set to on (with disconnects occurring multiple times per hour). If I switched the phones to power-saving GPS, disconnects would never occur.
Not sure why this would be but I don't recall it happening before the latest S2 update. I have always used High Accuracy GPS because I use the Tile app which requires it....HOWEVER, the disconnects were SO irritating, I guess I'd rather lose my keys and/or wallet because I turned the GPS to power saving to eliminate the disconnects because it was SOOOOO annoying.
PROBLEM FIXED -Bluetooth on gears2 /note 5 keeps disconnecting
Hi guys,i'm new to this forum. Came across it a few days ago when i needed assistance. I have been wearing my gear s2 classic and note 5 for approx. a year now . As of last week it kept disconnecting and connecting every five minutes which became really frustrating. I was missing important calls and message as my phone is on silent and gear on vibrate mode. After trying numerous attempts of clearing the Bluetooth cache and even hard reset watch and phone twice . It still did the same. I contacted my buddy over at Samsung headquaters is South africa to confirm my warranty date on my note 5. Thats how far i was heading, to return the headset for a new one. Luckily my warranty expires in October 2017. He then advised me the following
1) Check gear software updated - My gear was updated.
2)Check phone software updated- My phone was not updated.
So i got down to doing the update, size was around 1.4 GB
A fast WiFi connection will take approx. 15 minutes.
Had this done 2 days ago
Problem solved :good:
Phone looks and feel way better with the updated software and Gear has not disconnected since then.
Hope this helps.
Please share .
I'm starting to suspect it's a problem with my S7 Edge. I had the Gear S2 connected to a Nexus 6P for a couple months and never encountered connection problems. It's only since I switched to the S7 that I started getting the sporadic disconnects. I've tried changing my GPS settings but there doesn't appear to be a low power mode on the S7 edge with 6.0.1 stock so I just kicked down to the basic GPS only and turned off wi-fi and bluetooth location.
Not impressed so far.
also happens on S8+, but not on Note4
This is happening on my S8+ also.
It also doesn't work properly with my car radio and microphone (I can receive calls well enough, but issuing voice commands is a nightmare).
I had the Gear S2 and car radio connected to my Note4 before. They worked perfectly.
I will try lowering the Location accuracy. In any case, looking forward to upgrading to Note8 in a few months when my S8+ contract ends.

HELP: T-mobile S2 requires constant light reseting because of lost bluetooth pairing

I have the T-Mobile G2 and ever since the latest software upgrade a few days ago, I've losing my bluetooth pairing every time I reboot the phone. (I know that sounds like a phone problem, but it's the s2 pairing specifically that is lost).
That means I have to re-pair my phone, and that means the watch gets reset, and I invariably need to spend the next hour restoring the 25 apps and watch faces that were lost.
This is literally happening every single day, and is really becoming a pain. And in a potentially related issue, bluetooth pairing seems a little flakey: my watch is often is standalone mode even with the phone nearby. And remote connections, despite being turned on, almost never works.
I really love this watch, but I don't enjoy spending a significant part of each day trying to get it to work properly.
Any suggestions?

Samsung gear s3 classic connectivity

Brand new to the Watch, this could be an issue with iPhone or maybe it doesn't support it, but I jut got the gear s3 early, just while waiting for my new s8 plus to arrive in couple weeks, I set it up with the limited iPhone, but I was having bad problems connecting to the internet, it worked if I turned Bluetooth off and on and used wifi only. But one question does this Watch not just connect to my phone and then use the phones data like my Apple Watch did?
Or is this just limited due to iOS ? Downloading watch faces just gets stuck and goals all the time too, can't wait for my new s8, not complaining just interested on connectivity I expected it would use the data on the phone via Bluetooth. Maybe I just set it up wrong
