new here,
wasn't too interested in rooting, but i decided to give in and install a custom rom as stock was sluggish and, i was tired of the colors.
I'm pretty happy, i'm now running fresh's 1.0 rom.
now, i'm pretty happy about this phone.. but i've seen videos where people are playing games off flash sites? why the hell can't i do that? i just get a error,
i've been very curious about this, what are your guy's experiences?
I can't do it either. The flash part was one the deciding factors for me over the Hero and the Samsung Moment.
The Hero has flash support...or more of a "flash lite". Some of the older flash games that haven't been updated to use the new features of the current versions of Flash do work for the most part.
Official Flash for android is slated for next year I believe.
Personally, I think we'll see 2.1 come out for our phones before full flash gets released.
I agree completely that is a feature I bought this phone for. It doesn't seem widely talked about.. this sucks.

My brother actually holds that skyfire browser over me with hes touch pro and keeps telling me how much better WM is over android lol
i have been an owner of the Transformer for just under a week, to be honest i think its a let down.
Internet experience is slow and jerky, flash takes a while to speed up. (Ive tried all browsers)
N64iod runs better and faster on my xperia play (which is a 1 core processor)
Some games seem to re-download every time i run them.
Cant play 720p with HW enabled with SW there slow.
Live wallpapers slow down the OS, my Xperia doesn't!
I could go on.
I know the OS is relatively new, but i cant buy that. The tablet cost me £415 with dock, If i was a normal customer, (the everyday user) i would take it back to the shop as i would think it was broke.
My last point is the constant crashes, it even locked up while trying to shut down.
So please please please tell me there is an answer, i so want to like it, as the concept is brill, i based buying this on my xperia play, i love the os, but honeycomb maybe the problem here!
Cheers.

First of all, what android version and firmware build are you running and are you rooted? Secondly, have you performed any OTA updates since you bought your TF? Before I installed a custom rom on my TF, I myself have experienced serious lag and slow down due to multiple OTA updates. As with any pc based platform, its typically best to do a full wipe and perform a clean install to have it running at its peak. Before I took the route of a custom rom, i did a full wipe and fresh install and could immediately tell the difference in speed. So my suggestion is that you take that route first. Also, if you are interested in rooting and installing a custom rom, be advised that starting with the B70 revision, ASUS changed and locked down the bootloaders and they are currently unrootable at this time...which means you won't be able to install a custom rom. Find your S/N and if it starts with B70 or higher, then you won't be able to root at this time.
I have not had to many FCs, either stock or on Prime. Most times that I get any problems at all are in the stock browser, and usually thenjust a matter of slowness and the occasional "FC or Wait" prompt; particuarlly on more 'involved' web pages. Loading pages are also fairly sloow at times but still faster than my phone. My phone uses Opera for tremendous inprovement over it's stock browser.
Don't know about the 720p, haven't tried and don't know what program you used. Out of box is rather minimal audio/video playback as far as I noticed.
General performance wise, this thing beats a number of x86 systems I've had, espiecally while compiling C/C++ code.
If it's not something closer to the hardware, doing an nvflash to a custom rom might be worth trying but it can be an irk to deal with nuking everythiing you have stored, backups or no.
Internet experience is slow and jerky, flash takes a while to speed up. (Ive tried all browsers)
Latest Flash, Latest Browser (3.2.1) - runs good.
N64iod runs better and faster on my xperia play (which is a 1 core processor)
I have this issue, too - probably Tegra2 related (OCing may help?)
Some games seem to re-download every time i run them.
What games? Never noticed it.
Cant play 720p with HW enabled with SW there slow.
Get DicePlayer - best player around, supports HW acceleration and 720p is good as well (compared to others) - thanks to tegra2 plugins. Not free tough.
Live wallpapers slow down the OS, my Xperia doesn't!
Higher resoltioun and tegra2 issue AFAIK (might be wrong).

Strange how some people experience things that most others don't. Weird. But anyway, you should return your TF. Get a proven product like an ipad 2.

Ok troll. Your kind isn't welcome here unless you own a TF and can offer solutions other than being apple fan boy. This is not the thread you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along...move along...
cheers for all the suggestions, i have got the latest updates and firmware.
i will check my serial when i get home.
for video playback ive been using mobo and mx player
games which redownload everytome are reckless getaway and the spaceship one which i cant remember the name lol its for tegra 2 and its free
if i decide on a custom rom i take it its purely personal preference? i fancy revolution for the ota tools

You are correct, custom roms are always going to end up being preference. If you are able to root, the best way to start off this endeavor is to visit the posts of all 3 major roms for the TF in the development section. Find out what each rom offers, and make your decision based off of that. You can always try out each rom to see which one you like better.
My choices are limited now
checked my serial and its B70.
Looks like i'm stuck with stock until asus / google sort my issues.
One last question?
i here good things about opera, but i dont like the way it loads (waiting for the page to load before displaying) is there anyway to disable this feature?
Sometimes you just want to click on a link i dont really want the whole page to load!
Asus changed the bootloader not too long after they started making the B70 revisions. So there is a very small window of chance that your TF can be rooted. You can always try, but the chances are slim. I can't answer your Opera question...I don't use Opera.

There is no option for this in Opera Mobile; I should know, it's what I use off the phone next to me .
Opera Mini is probably the same, but I would highly doubt it would support that feature even if it wasn't.
@blonqe: I posted something similar and goodintentions replied the same way... he has down syndrome, bless his heart...
Anyway, just accept you got suckered in to all this EEE Fad, iFad marketing BS. The Tegra 2 is a $5 PoS SoC... kind of like the PoS Atom CPU.
Tabs are fairly useless, but you wanted to waste some money
Oh if you disable flash in the stock browser it's speed is good.
I'm stuck with stock too ... REALLY FARKING pisses me off that I'm locked out of my own device.

Lol, this man has made the greatest mod to his TF!
But yeah, try running a custom rom (if you can) and see if your problems are still present. If so, contact Asus and maybe they will give you a replacement, could simple be some hardware malfunctions.
well i tried to root using the all in one tool, when trying to backup and root i kept getting an error cannot boot to pad or something like that, so for now ive had to admit defeat and wait for some bright spark to hopefully crack the new bootloader :-(

Just wanted to bump my original thread to say after alot of complaing from me i can now say i am a proud owner of the Asus Transformer TF101.
Thanks to the fact i can now root and install custom roms.
After a few weeks of trial and error, i tried, revolver, Prime and KRAKD.
The latter for me was easily the best so so smooth, OC 1.504 i tried same on the other Roms, but with KRAKD i had no issues and its just so much quicker in my opinion.
One issue that exists in all the custom roms is that the xbox controller doesn't work until you change the kernel. Weird.
Brwosing is more of a joy and with ICS on its way my tablet experience is looking up!
Still tempted by windows 8 but we will wait and see.
Glad to hear everything worked out.
If you have a PS3, you should be able to use a Sigaxis controller using the Sigaxis application on the market as well.
I do a tonne of reading and usually all my answers are found through searching, but I am stumped on this one, hence, my first post.
I simply cannot get flash to work on my Skyrocket while running Jelly Bean.
I have the older APK of Dolphin. I have several APK versions of Adobe Flash. None of them seem to work.
I have tried the old version of Dolphin (and the new version where you delete a certain file to allow flash), the built-in browser, Firefox, Firefox Beta, Opera, QuickICS, plus a few others just for good measure. All these plus trying different versions of flash with each one.
The best I can get is the little circle where a flash video is loading, then a blank/black screen. Then I have to re-start the browser I am testing because it will lock up.
I have no issues with ICS running flash, but as soon as I load ANY of the JB roms, nothing.
Most of the posts I see on the web are to load the Adobe APK and then to load the older Dolphin APK and they are good to go. Not for me 8-(
Just a couple of flash sites I am trying are:
Amazon Instant video
South Park Studios
Watch South Park Online
BTW, thanks for all the work you guys put into these ROMs, etc. I am so glad I got away from the iPhone. I love the freedom Android gives.
I think I got it!
I tried the superlite ROM by vincom tonight.
I loaded the older dolphin apk and adobe flash apk and viola, it is working now.
His ROM says it is really lite, so I don't know if something he has left out was what was messing with flash in the others ROMs.
The only thing I noticed is that now I get ads when starting the videos. With ICS, it would go straight to the video. But hey, just glad it is working now.

Adobe has an even newer .apk on their site that never made it to the market. Thumb around for it. You wont be able to see flash on chrome at all. Different JB roms act differently with it. Some work, and some don't. The aosp jb wont work with flash, but the official cm10 does.

Thanks for the info.
I did try the cm ROMs. They have the look and feel I like the most. The ROM I mentioned above is the first one on JB I could get flash to work on.
It seems to be good to go now, but I will look for the latest version just to see how it works.

So i know how to install the adobe flash apk and everything. i have been watching flash videos on my Galaxy S 2 and S 3 ever since i got them using xScope Pro. But for some reason the TF300T wants to freeze the second i load a video. The most insane thing is i watched an entire episode of Blood+ last night but when i went to watch another episode flash caused the browser to freeze. Tried with stock browser same thing, tried with angel browser and same thing.
Does anyone have any idea what to do? Im running CM10 btw. Never had any issues with any other device just this one.. And this was essentially the main reason i purchased the tablet as well..

I'd recommend ditching flash altogether, if you can. Try this: set the stock browser's user agent to ipad (this should be possible in the CM10 stock browser, through the settings). This forces most web sites to render their players in HTML5 instead of flash, which, for me, has been a much better experience. Also, if you do not use this already, install browser2ram. It's a must.

lol. ditch flash.. lol.. You have any idea how many websites use flash? I cannot believe android abondonded flash. That was just plain stupid. Lol.
But i just flashed CROMI and am gonna try it. I have a feeling it may be the kernel. (I was using untermensch's) so if it works with CROMI, then i'll try CM10 again with the stock kernel. I dont recall having issues with that. Thanks for the recommendation though!
Confirmed it's a cm10 issue. Doesn't happen on cromi or stock. Trying baked ROM now. Then cm9 lol.

Two things are misguided in your thinking:
1. Adobe is ditching Flash, not Google/Android. They realized that maintaining a plug-in for capabilities that are built-in to most modern browsers.
2. I understand that, yes, a lot of websites use flash. But think about how many tablets are out there, especially ipads which have never supported flash. If you run a web site of any popularity and you're forcing people to use flash, your traffic numbers are going to go down the tube. Most sites out there, especially those that stream videos, offer an alternative to flash; and that alternative (HTML5) is usually better.
You're clinging to your cassette deck while everyone is streaming on-demand. Flash is old school and the more people give it up, the quicker web designers will adapt modern alternatives.
Give it a try. Load up Baked6 and switch the stock browser to ipad and see how little you are losing. It might change your mind.

I thought it was adobe ditching android.. I wasn't sure lol.
But dude seriously the Almighty YouTube hasn't even abandoned flash. It's still needed to watch videos on their desktop site. I have only ever encountered one HTML5 website in my millions of hours online. HTML5 is just dumb. Not many people are using it and it's been out for what feels like forever.
Flash works and has for years. Abandoning it was just absolutely stupid. It's nowhere near dead.

Oh and that didn't work. Gogoanime.com still uses flash because it works lol. It's definitely a ROM issue as it works perfectly on my galaxy s 3 running cm10.1

Back in the old days I bought the Eee Transformer TF101 and after years of loyal service it got a second life at a the house of my sister. Last week it has returned home however because the games my niece wants to play can't be installed on ICS anymore. I am planning on using it as a dedicated unit for my Chromecast, so that I don't have to search the whole house for my regular tablet when I want to watch Netflix.
Now the question: what would be the most usefull thing to do for this in terms of ROM. At the moment it is completely stock ICS (4.0.3), no root or anything. I can cast from youtube and Netflix, but for instance Chrome cannot be installed because it is too old. I have seen a 6.0.1-ROM, but I also see a lot of problems with force-closes and sometimes other issues as well, so i don't know if it is worth the hassle to install this.
Any suggestions? What would you do in this situation? Just leave it stock and disable as much as possible (like Gmail-sync, and updates of various system-apps), or would you root the device and possible flash a completely new ROM?
Only posting to follow this thread as I am in a very similar boat, I loved this device and recently rediscovered it at my parents house in pristine condition - so I want to re-purpose it. I have rooted it and installed a few custom roms but they are all sluggish and riddled with problems. I am looking for whatever rom is fastest, stable and new enough to install most basic apps (Chrome, Gmail, Netflix, etc...).
Hi Cabrone,
I'm still on stock, hoping for someone to share his/her personal view on this. Not being able to install a (slowly, but always increasing) number of apps is my biggest concern with this. At the moment this boils down to Chrome, but I can imagine that at a certain point in time Youtube or Netflix will no longer be updatable, and that would be a shame as long it is possible with alternative roms.
Best rom i ve found is Katkiss Marshmallow for now. They are also in builds for a Nougat version, but is too risky, from my point of view. Runs very well, its like it has a new life. The rom is quite optimized, i could get more into details, if you want.
Just FYI, Showbox will play great on the stock rom Tf101. I tested before updating my rom to Tim's 5.1. Chrome won't install, but Firefox will on stock. I'm wondering if anyone has tried stripping apps to improve performance?
