Which ROM fixes the most issues with 12.1? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated both my OPO's from 12s to stock 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL and there seems to be more bugs than fixes. Which ROM has addressed the following issues...
#1 In-call mic quality: This is the worst. My phone is nearly useless for a phone call unless i use speakerphone/headset.
#2 GPS/Compass calibration: I've tried calibrating apps on both phones but they still aren't as accurate as they used to be.
#2 Truedialer removed: I've tried all the techniques to remove/replace it and none of them work or cause rebooting.
#3 Headset volume: quite low, sounds like it's at 30% when at 100% on the slider
#4 Random reboots: Just yesterday i used "OK Google" to set a 3hr timer and as soon as the timer started it rebooted the phone. Another instance when it randomly rebooting while locked in my pocket. It seems to randomly reboot about 2-3x/week
#5 Bluetooth: I stream Pandora/Spotify/AIMP/etc over bluetooth in my vehicle. Pandora via the radios "Pandora" function (not sure what this is called, phone shows "Pandora - Accessory" when streaming) works flawlessly. But if simply using bluetooth connectivity it will show song info for the very first song and never update again. When i was on XNPH44S track info would fail to update maybe 1 out of 6 times.
I did completely clean installs on both phones. I'm tired of updating and getting everything reinstalled and back in order like i like. I just want something that works.

I've tried nearly all the ROMs including Resurrection Remix, and I find CM13.0 by sultanxda the smoothest and the most stable one.

Thanks for the info. I may give this a shot if all my exposed modules are compatible.

Awesome! I use a few of those myself. I really need Boxer (Nine) Exchange Policy Cleaner to be compatible. Can't live without it

I'm just going to give CM13 by sultanxda a shot. Backing up now...

Just seen that AdAway isn't working due to a bug. Ugh! I think i'll wait on CM13 until thats fixed.

[Q] Tablet Acting Strange Lately

Okay, so a few months ago, I rooted my Honeycomb 3.2.1 tablet and installed the kernel from joe.stone.
I'm pretty sure they're compatible and all. The tablet model is myPadP4 (Which is only available in Taiwan I believe).
And later on, the tablet is acting weird.
Sometimes it freezes, randomly reboot/shutdown, and recently, I can't even turn the tablet off, it just shuts down, and reboot. (Note that the battery is irremovable.)
I tried the "Quick Boot" app to shutdown, doesn't work.
I tried shutting down via "reboot -p", doesn't work.
Not sure if it's caused by the kernel OR some app that I installed (That's the most unlikely case I think.)
And yes, I did try to do a factory reset, doesn't help.
Any idea? Or I simply have to send it back to the manufacturer?

I dunno if this is needed but just in case.
I'm pretty sure its the custom kernel that's causing you grief, try going back to the stock kernel
remember custom kernels are not always perfect, they may have bugs.

well if the dev is still supporting the kernel, you can wait for the dev to fix all the bugs.
if not, there not much anyone can do.
guess that is what you get for buying a cheap unknown tablet
click thanks if helped

Well guess that means I have to send it back to manufacturer then.
Oh and it's actually just a ZTE tablet with name changed, just re-published by one of our mobile services.

Cm12 Mobile radio active issue?

In KitKat Display was the highest battery drainer. Now i switched to lollipop ,
Problem is that in c12 based Roms mobile radio active time is insanly high and drains my battary a lot.(See image)Does anyone else got this issues and is there any fix for this?
I usually do clean installs of my roms. When i am in wifi my battery life is mich better.
Here is chrome for example, but nearly every APP runnimg im the background has the same behavior.

seeing the exact same behavior on my device
Same for me.
which is installed gapps?
mobile radio active
someone managed to solve it?
Same problem here, it's on majority of my apps and the screen time is all the way at the bottom. I've switched Roms, modems and firmwares. I really don't want to go back to lollipop lol.
Any solution?
Same problem here. Clean install of CM12S. When I'm on WiFi I have no problem.
I think it's this is a know issue of lollipop. No one knows why. Someone have the problem someone not...
I can suggest you to go on privacy guard and block keep alive from the apps who use most of the battery... And sometimes check if they are running and close them...
Until someone find the fix... Like Wakelock...

Problem also here...IT's not a wakelock issue...Looking for a fix!
This is a screenshot the difference drain between WiFi and 3G
Issue ist still there in CM12.1 . Thibking about switching back to Kitkat.
Same problem, COS12 with default kernel. I changed the modem to see if the OxygenOS' one could fix this and one particular app (WhatsApp) went from 3+ hours/day to 40min/day with similiar use and signal reception, but others remained high
Even 5.1.1 has it
I can't believe this annoying bug hasn't already been fixed as I can't believe why the entire group of lollipop users all around the world is flooding the web underlining it.
I've tried at least 3 different 5.1.1. based ROM and they all have this bug (not to mention how many different 5.1 based ROM I've already tested or 5.0.2 as well for what matters).
Funny thing tho, the first day I'm using the ROM the bug never appears: it's only after a couple of days that the mobile radio active stats spike up to 2 or 3 hours for some apps that use internet (it could be spotify, google search, etc.)
Really hope someone comes up with a fix, this is getting more than annoying...

Viper4Android on 5.1.1?

Has anyone been able to get it working? I've installed the paid version of busybox. When I'm prompted to install the driver, I get this.

I've been wondering this too so that I know before I decide to upgrade to 5.1.1... I know it worked on 5.0.2 with this mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/themes-apps/viper4android-s6-edge-root-t3072183
Can anyone confirm if it at least works?
So I decided to just go ahead and go for it. I was able to install Viper4Android and I didn't seem to encounter your issue with BusyBox. So, I'm not sure if I can be of much help there. :/ I pretty much followed the steps in the previous link I posted exactly as it's stated. Just be sure you set SELinux to "Permissive". I always forget to do that for some reason.
It seems to be working perfectly with Google Music, Pandora, YouTube, Songza, etc. However I can't seem to get it to work on Soundcloud, the ONE music app I ACTUALLY use. Not sure what's up with that.
Hope you get it to work too.
Seems I was able to get SoundCloud to work by installing a slightly older version. I guess they changed something in the newest update.
EDIT:
SO, turns out installing an older version of SoundCloud also comes with many, many force closes and bugs. But I actually found a different solution that seems to work. I don't know how the heck I figured this out, but if you download the latest version of SoundCloud from the Play Store, then go into /data/app/com.soundcloud.android-1/lib/arm/ and delete everything in that folder, Viper4Android works! And for as long as I've been trying out the app, I haven't experienced any negative consequences on the app or its stability either.
Also sorry for bombarding this thread lol. I just hope I help someone else along the line who might be experiencing the same issues that I had.
UPDATE:
Haha sorry, THIS is the LAST UPDATE.
If you delete everything it breaks the SoundCloud recording option. The only file that actually needs to be deleted is /data/app/com.soundcloud.android-1/lib/arm/libgstreamer_android.so
That's it.
HUGE thanks SeekerofLight.iz! This had been keeping me from updating to lollipop for the past few months...:good:
Coincidently it has been just over a year. Wondering if there are currently any working methods to get Viper working with Soundcloud's latest 2016.x versions?

I have been able to get viper running on most devices. Basicly as long as u can get the kernal to permissive. And the driver to install. Some times ive need to install a lot older versions of viper to get to run but usually setting the kernal to per is the key to viper
I'm having a weird problem, got the latest version compatible of V4A for MM.
V4A works fine when using the Deezer App but when using Soundcloud it doesnt use the V4A settings.
Looked in Soundcloud to see if there is a way to amend settings and there isn't, have checked that Permissive is set which it is.
Anyone else got any ideas? I have the latest version of Soundcloud installed. Seems to only be soundcloud from what I can tell.
Thanks
Soundcloud problem finally solved! See https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...soundcloud-compatible-viper4android-t3555613/

[Request] Attentive display for Cyanogenmod

Hello,
Did anyone find how to put Attentive display or an equivalent in Cyanogenmod 13 ?

This feature, available on stock, keeps the screen awake while we're looking at it, and it uses the IR sensors to be battery efficient. That's why I was looking for this app.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

Previously this feature called "User Aware Display" was in CM12.1 (Lollipop) for Quark but was removed by the dev as it stayed on even when it shouldn't.

And as you know the most recent snapshot works well -- except no "user aware display", which I miss also.

The reason I removed user aware display was lack of stability of the feature (would keep the display on persistently in unwanted cases).

Okay. It's sad to hear but not a big deal. I miss this one but the other Motorola features work surprisingly well in Cyanogenmod.
That's all I wanted to know, thank you very much !
still there on RR:
Yeah, I saw that ! I would like to know if it's stable. Because I guess that if it was the case, it would be merged back into CyanogenMod...
The straight way would be to test myself, but I don't have time for now and I don't know how to reproduce the bug !
If someone has some information, feel free to post about it...
Cheers

It works. I dont like it because it stays on if something is in front of it. For example i threw a shirt on my phone and it stayed on. My solution for that is increase the screen on time to 2 minutes.

Question ViPER4Android or Dolby Atmos working?

Just got myself one of these lovely devices and so far I'm enjoying it!
One thing I'd like to "fix" though - I'd like to get either ViPER or Dolby working on this as it's the sound I'm used to from the Samsung side of things.
Has anyone managed it?
Thanks!

Thanks - that's very useful to know!
I did try this and whilst it does appear to work (no errors, no warnings, JamesDSP manager starts, etc) I didn't notice any difference in the actual audio output when changing options. Have you? Maybe I'm just going deaf!

It's a common issue with Audio mods and unpatched kernel/system, a simple fix is just to force stop and restart the Jdsp manager, make sure nothing is playing while you're doing this
Confirmed that latest Viper4Android works for me. On global WW .188 rom rooted.
Edit: After testing for sometime the inbuilt audiowizard sound effect equalizer will not work eventhough you can move the sliders and eq.
Noticed a wierd bug if you force close v4a then you will lose control of the app and you would not be able to enable or disable effects. So you will be having the last set audio effect of v4a. For that you need to do a Fast reboot or a full Reboot then a short enable and disable legacy and compatibility mode to get it working back.
