[Q] Tablet Acting Strange Lately - General Questions and Answers

Okay, so a few months ago, I rooted my Honeycomb 3.2.1 tablet and installed the kernel from joe.stone.
I'm pretty sure they're compatible and all. The tablet model is myPadP4 (Which is only available in Taiwan I believe).
And later on, the tablet is acting weird.
Sometimes it freezes, randomly reboot/shutdown, and recently, I can't even turn the tablet off, it just shuts down, and reboot. (Note that the battery is irremovable.)
I tried the "Quick Boot" app to shutdown, doesn't work.
I tried shutting down via "reboot -p", doesn't work.
Not sure if it's caused by the kernel OR some app that I installed (That's the most unlikely case I think.)
And yes, I did try to do a factory reset, doesn't help.
Any idea? Or I simply have to send it back to the manufacturer?

I dunno if this is needed but just in case.

I'm pretty sure its the custom kernel that's causing you grief, try going back to the stock kernel
remember custom kernels are not always perfect, they may have bugs.

Well crap, kind of expected that, problem is I dunno where I can grab the original kernel now.

well if the dev is still supporting the kernel, you can wait for the dev to fix all the bugs.
if not, there not much anyone can do.
guess that is what you get for buying a cheap unknown tablet
click thanks if helped

Well guess that means I have to send it back to manufacturer then.
Oh and it's actually just a ZTE tablet with name changed, just re-published by one of our mobile services.

Anyone wanna reply as to how this is flashing for them?
Flashed it just fine but once in a while (I'd say about 45 mins-1 hr) it goes back to the original icon for like 20 mins. Hope you can get a fix for this cause it's very nice to look at. HTC EVO CM7.0.3.1

I have to look into the xml's a little more . Everything looks where its supposed to be. If it wasn't it wouldn't compile right. I will just rebuild a complete new one.
Fixed it myself. Just flashed my cyanbread theme without the stop battery
Having a problem with getting it to work with CM7.1 it just gives me a bootloop. Yes i did the proper wipes.

[Q] Interesting problem with HTC sensation

Ok, I'm a noob and I'm sorry - I tried to search but couldn't find anything relevant.
This morning when I came to check my phone after charging it all night I noticed something weird with my sensation, the top of the screen is at the bottom of the screen and the touch screen is also out line. (its hard to explain the problem)
I have attached a picture which will hopefully make some sense.

Thanks for anybody reading this and if anybody could help then I would be forever grateful.

You didn't say what kind of ROM you're running? Is it custom or official OTA?
If the ROM is custom I would ask the question in Dev thread, you might get more support there. Or someone might of experience the same issue and have a fix already.
Pretty sure it's the rom, which one are you using?
Yeah ics on sensation has to be custom. Totally sounds like an os issue. Try backing up User apps/data, wiping and reinstalling. If it is an os issue definitely someone on the ROM thread has addressed it.

'N' icon in status bar

I have disabled NFC and all Android Pay/Samsung Pay apps, and still the 'N' icon still appears every now and then, and it will only go away if I restart the phone.
I notice that after a night of charging that most times I wake up and see the icon. I can't remember another situation when it happens, but I'm not using wireless charging so it's not being used. Does anyone know why this icon appears after disabling NFC, and how I could prevent it from doing so?

No, it's stock M. It's the AT&T variant G930A, which does not support root yet.. I'm wondering if there is any other app or something I could be doing that's dependent on NFC, but like I said I can't even turn on NFC if I wanted to, everything's been disabled which a package disabler.

...Clearly then its witchcraft, Voodoo, or the 'Ghost of Near Field Communications Past'... Considering its a phone though, who you gonna call?
In all seriousness, backup and try a full reset after you go through all Settings options fully; try restarting it as well before factory reset. Shouldnt be doing that. I have an S7 Active never had that issue but it would drive me nuts.

Since this reply found out the G930A is rooted now! I don't know where I've been the past week. Anyway, thank you for your help, I'm gonna do a backup and root and freeze the apps. See if that helps.

[Request] Attentive display for Cyanogenmod

Hello,
Did anyone find how to put Attentive display or an equivalent in Cyanogenmod 13 ?

This feature, available on stock, keeps the screen awake while we're looking at it, and it uses the IR sensors to be battery efficient. That's why I was looking for this app.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

Previously this feature called "User Aware Display" was in CM12.1 (Lollipop) for Quark but was removed by the dev as it stayed on even when it shouldn't.
ChazzMatt said:
And as you know the most recent snapshot works well -- except no "user aware display", which I miss also.

The reason I removed user aware display was lack of stability of the feature (would keep the display on persistently in unwanted cases).

Okay. It's sad to hear but not a big deal. I miss this one but the other Motorola features work surprisingly well in Cyanogenmod.
That's all I wanted to know, thank you very much !
still there on RR:
Yeah, I saw that ! I would like to know if it's stable. Because I guess that if it was the case, it would be merged back into CyanogenMod...
The straight way would be to test myself, but I don't have time for now and I don't know how to reproduce the bug !
If someone has some information, feel free to post about it...
Cheers

It works. I dont like it because it stays on if something is in front of it. For example i threw a shirt on my phone and it stayed on. My solution for that is increase the screen on time to 2 minutes.

It's been an ongoing issue since the beta. Samsung was made aware but chose not to fix it.

I reported it once on the first initial one ui 3.0 and then again once I upgraded to ctl7, hopefully it gets fixed, but it doesn't seem like a priority to them. i actually just downgraded to 2.5 cause I hate the bugs they currently have.

It probably will get fixed... eventually
Strange I'm not having this issue on mine at all. I got European version too but nordic one and my notification part is fine for me.

Samsung will substitute smaller chipsets and components during a production run if need be. Result is the firmware may not be compatible for those chipsets/components until the glitch is noticed and firmware updated to include them.
Add to that there are many variants of firmware because of different carriers and countries.
