I was more so just asking for my own curiosity. I didn't mean SIM unlock, I meant bootloader. I got a Galaxy S6 and LG G3 and ended up selling them due to the hideous touchwiz and optimus user interfaces and the inability to unlock the bootloader and install aosp ROMs.
I vowed to never buy from at&t ever again lol. They sell you phones, say you own them, but don't allow you to do as u wish with them while being forced to use up your system memory with useless crapware. That's unacceptable to me.
It always surprises me when people have XDA accounts but don't modify their devices.
I'm interested to hear your comparison between the A9 and S6, as I used to own the S6.

I would like to jump from my n5x to htc A9 cause my storage is almost full and that phone look very well build

hi
well i have jump the samsung ship my self i will never buy other samsung phone its HTC for life for me
i love my HTC A9 the samsung S6 was OK but you have too wait weeks if not a year for android updates at lest with HTC you get your updates sooner then later now i have the AT&T 32GB model so i have 3GB of ram wish is a pluse now i may not get the same 15 days after nexus for my HTC android updates but at lest i will get them march sooner then any other phone i have ever own i have owned LG Samsung and moto and iphone this is my 1st ever HTC phone
pro i love the new android 6 update and sense 7 on top this makes the phone buttery smooth all most stock android every year HTC gets better and better with there phones
next for a snapdragon 617 its fast and smooth i really dont need a super high end phone has long has the space is right and with it haveing 3GB of ram this phone makes it a high end phone why the 2GB ram of the HTC A9 is more of a mid ranges phone
i love the build quality of the phone but i would get a case for it
next i love haveing a SD card slot some in that the poor samsung S6 removed this last year not cool samsung not cool at all
all in all i love the HTC A9 i love the build quality of the phone and every thing else
now the samsung S6
the samsung S6 was a OK phone but i did not like it when they removed the SD card slot
other thing i did not like about the S6 was the small battery it had
and other thing is you can not put a QHD screen on a smart phone and then put a small battery in it if your going to put a QHD on a screen then you need at lest a 3000 or above battery so that a fail
long wait for android updates and upgrades wish i do not like i dont mind owning AT&T phones but i all so like to have android updates and upgrades on time so thats why i picked HTC A9 has i new HTC has the best android upgades and updates out there follow by nexus
no SD card slot fail
samsung really got the S6 wrong this year
how ever i did like the back glass casing on the phone it made the phone feel nic
all in all samsung sucked this year and i wont be going back too them or any one else i will be staying with HTC for a long long time

My vote go to LG optimus 2x . Fills all your requirements
Don't get that phone too many problems. Get the galaxy nexus if on contract or wait for the new evo/htc one X or galaxy s3
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I recommend the Asus Padfone, greatest versatility of any mobile device, with massive battery power and a Krait S4 core. LTE version coming later this year.
Get Samsung galaxy s 15
Get the Nexus S, pretty hackable.
you can get a nexus one off contract for $299
on contract, you can get anything
generally nexus' are more supported by the community
I'd say the new Nexus or RAZR MAXX. Both current top of the line and hackable.
The push for the MAXX is obviously the ridiculous battery life. How awesome can your phone really be if you only get 6 hours of battery life when it's finally able to do everything you want at the speed you want?
galaxy note! i love the big screen and i'm in the process of customizing it like crazy.
LG Optimus One is very cheap and perfect for overclocking (If you are into modding your phone). Without the mods and overclock the device might be a bit laggy compared to high end devices but it is still good. The phone is about 2 years old now so it is very cheap today.

You should get the samsung inspire 4g it got some new no scraches or nuthin.. intrestd
Both the galaxy nexus and sgs II will stay active for a very long time but hack friendly would be galaxy nexus, can be unlock by just using 1 fastboot command and you can also lock it back as easily. Will also get OTA updates of new android version very quickly. It will most likely be my next phone, only 1 problem it does not have a sdcard slot and only 16 gb of internal space for everything..
nexus is good....

Would you like to buy USED phone? Then you can buy used Senation which is a Dual core,ICS running device. Not only Sensation, but also have some used dual core phone.
OR
You just wanna a MyTouch 4G?Me too currently using MyTouch 4G.I love it..haha.I dont think that you can find Brand New Mytouch 4G.But check eBay first..
Hmmm. I really prefer new ones. I found some for $282... refurb for 238.. But I'd like more suggestions like this phone, can be maded by other brands. I saw Sensation and it costs a bit more.
I saw Galaxy S but I think mytouch 4g is a few better, and galaxy s is a more expensive.
I wouldn't go for a refurbished phone if I were you. I prefer paying a little more and not having to worry about anything.
Maybe you could take a look on a Nexus S (not Galaxy Nexus), all my friends have great experiences with their devices.

Hmmm... Galaxy Nexus S seems to be a nice phone really. But it's a bit expensive than mytouch 4g. Nexus S used is the same price of a Mytouch4g new.
I don't know mobile processors, but the speeds are the same and Mytouch4g has a bit more ram memory (768mb x 512mb), but it has a better screen (S AMOLED vs LCD)
Don't know if high memory is needed, but maybe I'll consider an used nexus s.
Thanks!
Hello,
Personally i would suggest the HTC Incredible S or the Samsung Galaxy 2.
The Incredible S isn't that expensive anymore and with newer software things are working very well. However, it has just a single core 1 ghz processor but the camera and storage capacity are very nice.
The one i prefer is the Samsung Galaxy S2. Because of the new S3, i think that this current device will lower in price and it has a dual core processor!
Good luck,
Greetings Arjan
Personally i would suggest the HTC One S ATM. Beautiful, smooth, aggressive and .. HTC. Good compromise in my opinion
Thanks for your suggestions. I think these phones are still expensive to my wallet. Maybe I'll wait to see if prices will be lower or get the Mytouch 4g. Maybe wait a month to see if prices get lower.

No Warranty Devices Available, Carrier Offers Alternatives - Advice?

Ok, so I have had a spot on the screen of my Sensation 4G for a while where the pixles just aren't right, the coloring is off, etc. I also haven't been overly excited with the low volume from the phone (during calls, ringing, etc). I have played with S-Off, root, custom ROMs, Kernels, etc and I'm thinking I might want to just try something else all together, but I'm not sure.
I decided to see about getting a warranty exchange, and my carrier has said they don't have any Sensation 4Gs, but they can give me a Galaxy S (the original I'm sure) or a MyTouch 4g (I don't want this one) as a replacement for my Sensation. I'm not completely sold on either one. I asked about getting another device and paying the difference between the replacement value and retail and was told I can not do that. Since I don't really want either of those phones, I called HTC directly. Although they are able to warranty repair my phone, I would have to do without a phone completely for the time they have it since I have no spare phone (I donate my old phones).
I'm thinking about just buying a used device in the classifieds since I'm not eligible for an upgrade, then doing the warranty on mine and selling it. So, if you had to get a new phone in the market now, which one would you be looking at? The specs of the Amaze have me intrigued, but honestly, I stopped following the new phones after I decided on the Sensation 4G so I can't say what the Galaxy line is like, the new One S, etc. Or, would you just find a loaner phone, warranty the Sensation, and stick with it for the next year or so until the upgrade eligibility rolls around again?
Any input would be great, thanks in advance!
I would just get a cheap phone to use while your Sensation having the warranty work done on it. I had to send my Sensation into HTC because of dust under the screen. And my Sensation was only gone like 4 days, so I doubt you will be without your Sensation very long at all. Plus to be honest with you unless you upgrade to a device with a quad core processor, NFC capabilities, and a bigger screen with higher resolution screen you are not gaining anything by changing devices. That is just my opinion.
Well, the Amaze has a better front facing camera and NFC, it's native as a dual core 1.5 GHz (mine is clocked to that anyway), but I think the screens are about the same. That's mainly why it caught my eye actually
There's no phones that are really an even trade for the Sensation. The MyTouch4G would be a downgrade. The next level up would be an Amaze or SGSII.
The closest would be the MyTouch4G Slide, but that has a smaller screen.
Why not Galaxy S 3? It's one of the few phones which matched the pre-release hype. Also the samsung note is a cool phone if you are ok with it's size.
Sorry HTC, I won't touch your phones after my sensation experience.

I probably won't be going with HTC after this either, but tmous SGS3 leaves a bit to be desired if what I've read is true. For one, it won't be compatible tmous' upcoming LTE because of the spectrum tmous is planning to use. Another thing is that it will be significantly more expensive than the other carriers' SGS3, which is lame. The last and most disappointing thing for me is that it still uses the dualcore S4 Snapdragon processor instead of the quadcore Exynos that the Euro SGS3 gets. Boooo!
Sorry to get off topic there. Sensation is a decent phone for what it is, so personally I'm going to just wait out my contract. I can't see anything out right nite in the US market that would make me pull out the wallet.
Trade for whatever, sell it bnib, and then get a galaxy nexus for $350 from google play store.... Done.

SG3

Being an HTC customer for years, I'm debating if I should jump ship to a Samsung product, the SG3. Should I and why? Or is Tmobile getting another HTC device in the near future worth waiting for?

I am planing to join samsung club too. I have been using HTC over a year now. I am just thinking its time to change. As for as more into why Samsung s3 newest phone with lot of Kool thinking like just looking at the contact will dial number or screen will not dim . Better processor and super amolded screens are few.
Question of if HTC coming up with something new maybe yes because these companies are coming out with new phones every single month

not me, never been a fan of Samsung phones... personally, I dont like the look of the phone. Im waiting for my next upgrade to come around before I start looking for a new phone, around October. the Sensation is def more than enough until then
i would surely choose HTC One X than SGS3

**** SGs3 if you whant allways the better feel of aosp, buy a galaxy nexus or any new upcoming galaxy phone from google,
btw i prefer the HTC one X
I was a sony fan then went to samsung....never going back! Looked at HTC's, rooting is alot more work than samsung and samsung have alot more custom ROMS available but the speeds etc of the standard firmware was perfect, i just like messing with things, constantly playing about with the S2 my S3 is for work purposes but tempted to become a toy aswell

Honestly? I'd go GS3 if I was gonna upgrade right now. The One S is 'eh' at best and since it's a "high end HTC device", we probably won't see another one for a while. I contemplated upgrading to it within the week but they said I'd lose my 10 GB grandfathered data plan - which I absolutely refuse to do.
Funny thing too, they offered me a One S for $350 + Two year extension. I asked them if they realized that it's two hundred to two fifty on Craigslist in my area. They had nothing to say to that.
I absolutely love the SGS3, but wouldn't get it right now for T-Mobile for three reasons.
First, the T-Mo version costs more than other carriers SGS3s. That just rubs me the wrong way.
Second, we get the Qualcomm S4 version here. Dual core? Seriously?? I think that's lame considering EU gets the Exynos quad core version.
And last, and most annoying, the T-Mo SGS3 won't be compatible with the upcoming LTE because of the spectrum T-Mo is planning to use. Boo!
TL;DR I'd just wait. Sensation isn't top of the line anymore, but it's still pretty decent until some real upgrades find their way stateside.
Well i thought google said they will release at least 5 nexus devices in november, one for each different manufacturer. Why not get the next htc nexus then?

What's bad with dual core? The S4 keeps up with the Tegre3 and even beats it in some benchmarks. Does Android even benefit from quad core yet? I don't believe it really does. Hell, I have eight cores in my notebook and Windows hardly uses four of em.
If you want a good phone with good performance and best AOSP experience (speed, battery life, etc) wait for upcoming nexus.
I can live with sensation until google released new nexus phone.
But if you want a beautiful software and functionality go to HTC.
I dont like samsung experience but i should admit their hardware still the best (not its build quality tho).

I was considering to get the S3 but went to T-Mobile store and I was underwhelmed. Mainly because of the screen. And it didn't give me that wow feeling.
Anyways, I will wait. Sensation is pretty awesome at the moment.

Nothing bad with it really. Like I said, our Sensations are more than capable right now with dual core. It's just that if I'm going to break out the wallet and potentially renew my contract, it better be for a serious upgrade. An update from s3 to s4 just doesn't blow me away.
Remember when our Sensations came out and GB wasn't ready for dual core? Well now we have ICS and all is good. Same concept. I'd really hate to be on a dual core SGS3 and then the next version of Android comes out supporting quad core.
Silly to upgrade now. The GS3 is certainly "better" than the Sensation, but it's not enough of an improvement imo to justify the upgrade. I side with the people who say you should upgrade once new phones absolutely blow yours out of the water, not when they are merely a bit better. S4 dual core is pretty nice, and it beats the Sensations lackluster S3, but I'd rather wait for S4 quad core + Adreno 320 (a truly next gen gpu rather than Adreno 225, which is a slightly modified version of our gpu) or A15 exynos + Mali t-604 phones to hit, because they will undoubtedly roundhouse kick our sensations.

Good point. I, however, would like to mention that I never meant that I would get a GSIII right now, cause I'd have one if I did. All I meant was that if OP was getting a phone upgrade right now, GSIII over any HTC offering [T-Mobile's One S] is the way to go.

Galaxy s3 or nexus 4 or HTC one x?

I've done alot of research and it seems there are major flaws (to me) with all 3 devices and I need some of yalls opinions first I'll point out the flaws that I hate about each of these well a couple are More just conserns nexus 4 non expandable memory big issue galaxy s3 well this is a concern because you see I'll be using tmobile prepaid and the tmobile version features 1.5 ghz dual core and 2 gb ram where as the at&t version I believe it is features the 1.4 quad core 1 gb ram my other concern with this if I did chose the at&t version will I have the same data speeds as I would the tmobile version now the HTC one x I have failed to find one of these for tmobile just the at&t version my same concern with the s3 bout the speeds I just wanna know what would be my best choice right now I have the HTC amaze it was the unlocked world phone and I'm selling it for 300 to put with my check so I'll have enough to buy one of these this phone is brand new I got bored of it lol please help oh and I forgot to mention out of the 3 devices which is better for custom Roms I'll be rooting I haven't rooted my HTC amaze cuz I saw there wasn't really much worked with it so I want a device that will have a good development thx
