Slow wifi speeds - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

Anyone else getting slow wifi speeds? I get constant buffering on youtube, netflix, and Instagram videos take forever to load. My wife has a g4 and never has these issues her youtube has zero buffering and I always have to use her phone to connect to my chrome cast cuz my note either won't find it or disconnects randomly as well as cause buffer.

Are you using 5ghz wifi band?

Ok, I thought you had slow wifi but it looks like you've normal wifi speed.. maybe you need to check qos setting on your router, not sure.
I had interference in 5ghz band because of my new wireless surround system which uses same channel..

I don't have slow download speeds but when I watch a video or try to cast netflix on my TV it buffers like crazy. I have to watch videos in low definition to watch them with out buffering.

Seems like QOS setting on router to me or some sort of interference with 5ghz band so it's slow and you notice slowness only while watching video..

Maybe but my g4 runs fast on wifi..

try changing your wifi to static IP instead of DHCP, something about DHCP is ****ing up my phone too.

I read somewhere that someone rectified that issue by disabling 'Binge On' in their T-Mobile online account. Might be worth a shot.
All I know is you go into your online account and disable that feature. Hope it helps.

I figured out my problem, go into your Router and enable DNS relay, I am using Arris router connect to a Ruckus R700 ap router (ISP is time warner cable), at first I thought it was a DHCP problem but further research tells me to go into my router and enable the "DNS relay" and everything is fast now...
very weird but hey whatever works.

[REQUEST] Upload Large Videos to YouTube over 4G rather than WiFi

What is the point of the 4G network if I can't use it. First off all the only way I can share my high quality videos is YouTube. Second I can't upload them to YouTube without having WiFi access.
I'm at college where the WiFi signal is horrible so I was wondering if someone had a work around or a hack that could allow me to upload my "large" video to Youtube over 4G (it's less than a minute of 720p recording).
Thanks for any help.
Tether to your laptop and upload it that way.

Youtube app needs fixed. It's broke. I get errors saying I can't upload files bigger than 1GB when my file is like 500MB.

I never went to college but i'm shocked to here yours has poor wifi. don't they hardwire the dorms with ethernet and you can use your own router?

The dorms here have terrible wifi, they cap the speeds so you might get 3 megabits down/up. ethernet is the same, and they don't let you use your own routers here. some schools are picky.
also just log into youtube, click "mobile setup" and send your videos to the email they give you.

[Q] wifi tether

Does anyone have 100% stable wifi tether with any tether app? I tether to my ps3 for netflix and gaming. It is fine for a bit then mobile network just starts cycling. From that point its worthless.
I use it often for netflix or other video or music playing, anything that can buffer, and it works fine but I dont think I would trust it for gaming.
stable and wireless dont go together
Geez....get cable internet.

I think this hits it on the head. Buffering is your friend on mobile/wireless networks, more so on a mobile connection shared via a WiFi connection. There are just too many variables there for latency-sensitive applications.

I'm not entirely convinced it's your tether, though. You say that your LTE connection begins cycling. What ROM/Radio are you on? I've never had trouble with leaving the connection open for long periods of time. Sometimes it drops, but it's never begun cycling.
I game on the 4G usb modem from Verizon in a 3g area... Works fine

Doesn't gaming require very low latency? I thought Mobile Wifi hotspots had extremely high latency?

Hi. I have similar problem. When I've installed 3g router I have problems with all flash videos. Same on laptop and phone. Whey stops loading. Maybe anyone know a solution? But when I'm putting my 3g stick directly to laptop it's ok. And phone loading videos perfectly when on mobile Internet. Thanks in advance.

Your problem is probably bandwidth issues. 3G dongles can't carry too much data at once like a standard router can and when its broadcasting its signal to multiple devices it will use up that bandwidth fairly quickly. The fact that it works fine when used with a single device points to bandwidth being the issue. Are you able to get another 3G dongle without paying for another plan?
I could try to get another dongle to test. Now I'm using Zte Mf112 with netgear n-mbrn3000 router. It's interesting, when I'm disconnecting all other devices it's the same problem. Maybe i should change something in routers configs? I have 10mbps plan, but the dongle is supporting 7.2 mbps. I always have download speed around 400kb/s.

[Q] Laggy Youtube App

Hello there,
I compared the Nexus 5's YouTube playback with a Nexus 4 and an iPhone 5s, and it feels as though the video on the N5 is pixelated and choppy. Are any of you guys seeing problems in YouTube quality?
Yes I do. YouTube seems choppy.

Are you on WiFi or 3g?
I noticed a similar problem when I was on WiFi.
Then I ran a speed test on my network... Now, I usually get around 38 Mbps on my laptop... but my N5 was like 1.5mbps max... I went in to advanced wifi settings and changed it from "auto" chanel mode, to just 2.4ghz mode, and then changed my wifi routers chanel... I'm now getting around 27mbps on wifi and youtube is great

Thanks for the reply. I am on WiFi, and I changed to 2.4ghz mode to see if it made a difference. Sadly, it didn't help at all.
NOOOOO! I get all OCD over things like this.

[Q] Youtube and Play store slow wifi only speeds

Anyone else have this issue?
Just started on day 2 of having this phone. Youtube and Play Store download speeds are ridiculously slow only on wifi. All other apps are fine with their speed and performance on wifi. What's even stranger, is if I switch off wifi and use LTE/3G download speeds are normal again with YouTube and Play Store. Very frustrating for updating apps, watching videos, etc.
Things I've tried: Turning wifi off and on again. Reboot. Signing out and back into hangouts. Deleting data and cache from play services, rebooting, signing out and in of hangouts. Same issue.
Any help greatly appreciated.
In advanced settings under wifi swich of "wifi optimalisation"
Fixed it for me. You might try it.

Yes, I read some folks saying BT might be causing Wi-Fi interference in the N5.

This works. Two meters away from the router and I was getting a link speed of 19mbps while my old g2x got 72mbps. Unchecked wifi optimization and got 72mbps on the Nexus too!
Unchecking Wifi Optimization is NOT a solution.
You should NEVER do this.
It will result in a MASSIVE increase in battery consumption. Your phone does not need 70mbit download speeds to stream from YouTube/etc. YouTube videos max out at around 2-3mbit/s anyway.
