z5 Compact System Memory Usage - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else commonly seeing "system" consume 1 - 1.2GB of RAM? When restarted, system consumes about 600MB of RAM and the phone runs smoothly. After several hours, the entire phone is almost unusably slow because Android is constantly killing and restarting applications, redrawing takes forever, and it may even take 5 to 10 seconds just to return home.

phone is stock but am using google launcher. most process is consumed by facebook, followed by line.
i did wipe it before and it seemed to get better but also could have been placebo. i haven't tried installing firmware from another region mainly because i'm worried about potential radio issues.

same issues here, but happens after 1 or 2 days. possibly some memory leak bugs. have to restart my phone when it getting lag

[Q] Motorola Defy+ keep rebooting

I have a stock Motorola defy+ updated to 2.3.6. Been using it less than 6 months.
I have about 150 apps. About 50 are games and all games are transfer into my 64MB of sd card. The rest of the apps are in the phone memory.
Recently the phone started constantly automatically rebooting usually after i change battery, it will stays on for about 2-5min after the reboot, then it turn off and reboots again. This goes on for about 3 cycle before it all went well. At times it only auto reboot once after start up.
Initially i thought its the app so i reset the phone but still this occurs.
Everything seem normal and functioning well except for the few ocassion everytime when i change to a fully charged battery (because i have alot of spare batteries) , it will reboot again and again 2-5mins after the reboot.
This happen everytime i change to a full charged battery, does the battery got to do with it?
in addition, my phone is always very laggy too and whenever I run too much application that consume alot of memory, it will reboot itself too but that happen seldom. My cpu consumption is also always very high and i wonder why because do not run any major background processes except those from Motorola service(quite abit), Super task killer and NQ mobile security app.
anybody can offer advise?
Thanks.

If ur phone is rooted try overclocking the CPU to make up for the number of apps. Also try partitioning the SD card and putting the apps there instead because if u put so many on the SD with apps2sd the phone gets real slow as it loads all of them
Read about rooting, overclocking and partitioning

It isn't able to hold GPS tracking app in background; help me please

Hi, I have a problem with RAM management, or keeping an app running in the background to be more specific. I'm running stock EMUI 4.1.
If I have too many apps opened and stored in RAM (like 5+ or so; such as fb, messenger, email, youtube, instagram, ...), it often causes restart of the apps while switching between these apps I have already opened and stored in RAM. Even if it shows I have 1,5 GB RAM free. What's the point in high RAM capacity in phones (3-6 GB thesedays) when even with that much RAM (and that much FREE RAM) the phone isn't able to hold them really "opened" in RAM all and the apps "reloads" (as if it was launched for the first time) when you try to recall/launch them (quickly, but still).
It doesn't bother me that much generally, but only with one app - GPS tracking apps. After some time (maybe 1-2 hours) it always "drops" the app from RAM (it's still in recent apps though) therefore deleting my existing workout and tracked route. It's annoying. And yes I have the tracking apps selected in "protected apps". It happens still. Once I rebooted the phone, cleared apps stored in RAM so the only app running was Runkeeper. I went cycling and after some time (1-2 hours) I stopped, took the phone out of pocket, turned the display on, clicked on the GPS tracking app and it started to reopen/reload itself and once it reopens -> no trace of my existing workout, everything was gone. All of that with ~2.2 GB of free RAM.
What good does 2.2 GB of "free RAM" do when the phone isn't able to keep the only running app in the background for few hours? I tried many GPS tracking apps, happens always. It didn't happen with my Moto G (1st gen.; 2013) with 1 GB of RAM, but it happens with a lot newer and better phone with 4 GB of RAM?
Any tips for that, anyone? Please?
Don't know if this will help or not. Had a similar issue with a music player app. Gave it permission access for 'Phone'. Did not happen again till now. You can try that out.
You can also try Setting>Apps>Settings>Special Access>Ignore Battery Optimization>'Your App'>Allow

Xz lags

Hi
I have an almost brand new XZ, lately it's been very laggy. Certain apps take forever to open, and when I close apps, the app schortcuts take forever to load. Apps lags, Snapchat is a nightmare. Sometimes the power button don't work when i try to open my phone, I have to wait a couple minutes before I can use it again. While using Spotify, the whole phone is a nightmare to operate.
I have used ca half of the storage capacity, and I'm runding the latest duality ROM (Could that be my problem?) I had the same problem with the Z2 and the Z5 compact. Is it a general Sony problem?
Ccleaner tells me almost all by RAM memory is being used.
Any help?

First of all, yes a ROM can cause that therefore I recommend going back to stock. 2nd: uninstall all "cleaner/antivirus" apps, Android is not Windows, it doesn't need it and they use a lot of RAM too as well as track activity on your phone, there is a built in smart cleaner in the Sony stock rom if you really want to use something (most recommend turning it off anyway).
As for the other issues, I know spotify has some issues with SD cards (if you're using one), and Snapchat app is just crap it will lag any Android phone nothing you can do about that.
Reg. the RAM usage, unused RAM is wasted RAM, its ok to be near full capacity, its normal as Sony intended since RAM itself is just used mostly for multitasking where you need the apps to be cached so you can get back to them fast instead of reloading them again, normally it doesn't use a lot of battery but sometimes apps get stuck and need to be force closed.
Another issue i noticed specific to this phone is heat; if you live in a hot country where the temperature is normally over 40 c then the phone will lag, nothing you can do about that unfortunately. I've stopped using my XZ due to this, for some reason Sony decided to heavily throttle when the temperature reaches 41, which in my country is the ambient air temp.

Weird changes in terms of speed

I've had my U11 (64/4 variant) for a month now. I'm satisfied with it in general, but I've noticed something really peculiar.
In the first days, my U11 was extremely snappy and fast (opening applications, opening the camera, unlocking the screen, and so forth). However, after using it for a week, I noticed a strange phenomenon: the general speed of my phone was changing all the time. I mean, sometimes, I had to wait approximately 2 seconds for Gmail to load & display my inbox, while sometimes I just tapped on Gmail and it loaded & displayed my inbox almost instantly. (No, Gmail wasn't in the RAM in the latter case...)
It's still happening and I'm not happy about it because I ditched my S7 due to Samsung's tacky and laggy TouchWiz (I heard that it had been renamed, but I don't really care). Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying that SenseUI is laggy and tacky because I love it and I haven't even experienced a slight lag since I had this phone, but the unpredictable speed of my phone is irritating a little bit. By the way, the same goes for the camera (stock application): sometimes, it takes quite long for the camera to load & be ready, while sometimes it doesn't even take a second.
More than 90% of the storage is free and more than 50% of the RAM is free most of the time.
What do I do? Shall I perform a factory reset? As I've mentioned, I'm using the stock ROM and I want to do so in the future, too as I've got used to it.
Htc Boost+ app. If you dont have it get it. If you do have it then check the foreground and background restrictions.
If you're using any apps from 3rd parties that control apps and ram, remove them. Android has it's own app killer and boost+ will do the rest according to how you use the phone.
Signal clarity is also a huge player in the speed of today's devices. If you have a weak wifi or cell signal then the phone has to wait for the data transfer so server connections will suffer, hence why you experience intermittent slow loading.
The camera may take a while because of not being in background or if other apps are consuming resources. Also the more you use an app the quicker it should open as android 'should' hold the app in ram, if theres enough room.
Hope this helps clarify.

Thanks for your reply. I had already used the Boost+ before I posted this thread. I deleted a few apps that I hadn't really used, and now I don't have any problems with my phone as far as speed is concerned.

OP 6 Battery Drainage and hang issue

I have following issues in my op6-
1. Excessive Battery Drainage, after full charge it's only last for 3 hours without using any heavy app or gaming, just normal browsing. Phone heated also.
2. Phone Too much hang now and then. For example if I open gallery, it's showing nothing content. Then takes atleast 1 min to load.
3. Camera app instantly not usable ,it's gets hanged first after opening then become usable(30 sec lag). After click photo if I go to check the photo, instantly it shows no photo at all, then after several tries it shows photo. I think everything hang, I don't know where 8GB ram used.
4. I have few apps which are not usable via wifi. In settings wifi usability not disabled. Still can't use wifi
I have tried after cleaning phone cache, it did not solve.
That's probably something like crippled oneplus'es update to force you to buy a new phone. Or you can easily backup your data, perform a factory reset and set up the phone which should help you.
