power button not working, RMA phone to alcatel - how to unroot, relock bootloader - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone's power button is not working, i.e., pressing it doesn't do anything. Anybody faced this issue or any suggested solutions. Thanks.
Before I rooted my phone, I booted (not flashed) the TWRP image and took a complete backup - which I think included the stock recovery and the stock unrooted rom.
If I boot up TWRP now, restore that backup, my phone should go back to stock, correct?
Then I should relock the bootloader from fastboot.
I believe after those steps the phone is ready for RMA.
Confirmation please. Thanks.

just find and download alcatel mobile upgrade Q 4.9.2 install it on PC and run..it will take time (about 2-3 hours) but you will end with latest stock device.

[Q] Factory Reset using TWRP now it asks for encypted password upon boot

I just got my new S5, so it was time to nuke my S3 to get it ready for sale. My S3 is running 4.1.2 rooted with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP 2.5.0.0. To ensure a better wipe I encrypted the device and then did a factory reset. Now upon booting back up, I get a screen that reads: Enter password to access encrypted device storage. So I entered my password and it won't accept it. I cancel out of it, nothing works - I'm stuck.
I'm trying to reset the phone back to 4.1.2 and have no idea what I need to do next. Any help appreciated.
If no one knows how to fix this is there a way using TWRP or something other method to flash my S3 back to stock 4.1.2?
I looked at your thread earlier and I was wondering how to do it myself. Since your on an unlocked bootloader you can flash it back to another version, however I'm not sure if because having encryption enable it will let you
From my CM11 S3
SOLVED!
This Wonderful Guide from droidstyle helped me out.
1. I already had the USB drivers installed so I skipped to Section 5: How to Odin back to Stock from any rom/recover from a soft brick/flash a stock radio.
2. Downloaded the appropriate stock firmware, in my case it was VRALG1 4.0 ICS since I was on 4.1.2 and was not unfortunate enough to use any OTAs (4.3 and up) which permanently locked the bootloader.
3. Power on phone to Download mode (Hold Power on, Volume down and Home key at the same time). Make sure Binary Flash Counter is set to NO. Press Volume Up to select download mode.
4. Connect phone to computer and follow the steps on using ODIN to flash the stock image.
Phone reboots, wait and then viola - it booted just fine and asked me to set up the phone. Just to play it safe I rebooted to stock recovery, wiped cache and did a hard reset.
Now I will unlock and root the phone and then it's ready for sale. :good:
BTW I tried to find a stock 4.1.2 rooted and unlocked image but couldn't. If I find it I will flash it.

Gen 1 4.4.4 errors when updating 5.0.1

Hi hope this makes sense to you. X1032 Rooted on 4.4.4 with stock rom. Downloaded update for lollipop however once installing it goes to about 30% in and errors. Phone then boots back into normal phone 4.4.4 saying unsuccessful. Then five times my phone randomly restarts itself into the custom recovery and tries to install the stock update and gives the message shown in the attachments photo. Any reason for this?
Thanks
Try updating with stock recovery and without root. It should work with an unlocked bootloader too.
Thanks for your reply, as this is my first time reverting back to stock recovery and also how to un root the phone what is the best guide for me to follow as i dont want to mess it up. As i do it once ill always remember for future issues. You can probs tell the version of custom recovery via the screenshots.
Many Thanks
To get back to stock, download your phone's stock ROM, extract the recovery.img file and flash it using the fastboot commands "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" without quotes.
There should be an option in the root app to remove itself and unroot the phone.
Thanks alot will do that and let you know how it went weather it works or not.
Thanks again
If you want to maximize the chance that you'll get the OTA update installed, flash all partitions in fastboot. Note that motoboot file may not flash if your phone has a newer bootloader installed.
Hi did what you said on previous post and still errors and boots back to normal phone. Custom recovery removed and unrooted. Unrooted using the supersu app and did full unroot, as for going back to stock recovery couldn't find a stock recovery for this build phone so used the new mototool v3.1 program to flash stock recovery back to kitkat.
Any suggestions?

It looks to me like either ROM would work as they are both for the xt1032 but I can't say for sure as I have no experience with f;ashing either ROM.
Im guessing that if i download the generic rom and their should be a guide on here for flashing it? Am iable to take a backup of the current rom installed incase things mess up?
You could use ADB commands to create a backup but it's not that easy to do in my opinion without a custom recovery.

It doesn't power on or it goes to a loop saying no command?
Try the following:
1. Plug it into the charger
2. Hold the VOL DOWN key
3. While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
4. Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
5. After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
6. The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
7. Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:
Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
Proceed to Step 2 above.

Warning: Current Pixi 4 (4) 4034N will softbrick if you unlock the flash

Hi all,
I thought it be good to warn all Alcatel Pixi 4 (4) owners. The current version of the stock rom of the 4034N, which is sold here in the NL has what I think is a terrible bug.
If you enable unlocking in the development options, go to the fastboot, all it takes is to unlock the flash and your phone will get stuck in the boot animation.
I tried to recover by formatting /data (/data is destroyed as could be expected to protect the userdata), but it does not solve the problem.
Flashing a custom ROM like CM13 solves this problem, but I bet this is the reason why I see so many calls on the Internet for Stock ROMs for the 4034N. Have not found a good stock ROM for it and also Alcatels Mobile Upgrade site does not seems to support the 4034N (probably still one software version for it, so no upgrade required yet?).
So better know what you are doing when messing with this phone.
Anybody got the same experience (I can confirm that this was tested by me and my friends with three different Pixi 4's)...
Best regards,
Peter
Good news!
I found out that there is a global site from Alcatel where you can find an update of Alcatels Mobile_Upgrade_S_4.5.9 which DOES support the 4043N.
The good news is not only that this software can bring your phone back to stock ROM, but also that if your Flash is unlocked before you recover, it is still unlocked after the recovery. So rooting is very simple then. Cost me 2 minutes to do it:
adb boot recovery.img (you can boot the twrp bootimage from ADB, no need to flash it) and then directly install the superuser.zip
Presto!
I think I'm seeing the same problem with a 4034X (UK variant, as sold by Tesco Mobile). Unfortunately, the mobile update software isn't working for me as it's detecting that I've already got the latest version of the ROM installed already and won't let me install it again. AIUI, the CM13 system has a few issues, so I'd rather not go that root, so would still like a stock ROM if at all possible. Anyone have any pointers?
Hmm. Have managed to get beyond the resetting user data boot loop with the following procedure:
* boot to recovery (power + vol up)
* from recovery menu, choose "boot to bootloader"
* at bootloader, connect via USB to PC
* run "fastboot -w"
* run "fastboot boot <filename for twrp recovery image>"
* at twrp recovery menu, run the standard "wipe" options
* reboot
Haven't yet finished booting, but it's gone to the standard boot animation, which I never succeeded in getting to before.
Update: 8 minutes and counting into the boot process. Doesn't look like it's going to work.
One question worth asking: does this mean that *all* operations that cause a factory reset on an affected 4034 cause a boot loop? Or is it only unlocking the boot loader?
I managed to soft brick my 4034X simply by allowing my email program to encrypt the device. The encryption apparently failed and now it's stuck on boot animation. As @jh3141 said, the Acatel upgrade tool doesn't work. I guess I need to find a stock ROM, but my Googling hasn't found one yet. Can anyone help?

Any luck with the UK version 4034X?
I'm stuck in the booting process just like you were.
me too - Pixi 4(4) chaos on unlocking.
Absolutely the same experience here.
I have nuked 2 of these trying to unlock. It is a brilliant phone, but this is a painful feature - as you describe.
My history is in one of the threads on this site. - I agree, I would love a stock ROM for it.

I also softbricked my 4034X after unlocking the bootloader and couldn't get the phone to boot into recovery or the bootloader. I eventually managed to flash a stock ROM with SP Flashtool as described here https://www.getdroidtips.com/install-official-stock-rom-on-alcatel-pixi-4-4/ - this restored the ability to boot into recovery or bootloader but the ROM wouldn't boot so I couldn't enable developer settings to allow OEM unlocking. I then tried flashing the ROM for the dual-SIM version of the 4034X (risky!) and this booted and I was able to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery. The next problem was when & flashed CM13 and got an error message saying that TWRP couldn't access /data. It then got stuck in a recovery bootloop. Next I used TWRP to format all the partitions but it still couldn't access /data and broke the ability of the Mobile Upgrade Tool to read the phone. My next step is to try flashing a different custom recovery but I'm rapidly losing the will to live and would be very interested in any suggestions.
UPDATE - got it sorted by re-flashing the dual-SIM 4034X ROM (even though I have the single SIM version!), flashing ctr-6.6-4034 recovery, doing a normal wipe then formatting the /data partition then flashed CM13. I guess the data partition must have got corrupted.
I have exactly the same problem with pixi 4 4043f. I unlocked bootloader and then flashed following your instructions on that link you shared. But I see is a white screen frozen no options shown just booting voice behind.... I have flashed it several times but same results I still cant entry fastboot or recovery... Volume down + power or volume up + power dn take me anywhere just that frozen white screen with booting ring tone in the back and thats it... Kindly guide me
i had a similar problem, but i always wanted to flash cm13, so i was fine.
There is an amazing thread here for our device.
For those of you with the 4034X, i have ported cm13 to it specifically, bu there are too many bugs, but if anyone wants it, just tell me!
also, can i just say, softbrick if you oem lock aswell :,(
i wanted to test something, but after fastboot oem lock, and then fastboot reboot, i get an android being repaired? key combo's not working, adb/fastboot not responding, can't remember how i fixed it when i oem unlocked ...
edit-
got into recovery with key combo, now it's just to fix it!

For reference: I tried this on a stock 4034X and it failed (couldn't persuade it to boot the custom recovery without going through the full unlock process). Fortunately, there are now copies of the stock ROM available for download (e.g. https://androidfrog.com/a3nr9) so with any luck I won't need to go back to the dodgy CM13 port that constantly runs out of memory and soft-reboots...
Update: I've installed the stock ROM I linked to above, and it seems to be working pretty well. Only issue was that the scatter file that came with it was apparently broken. Fortunately, one that I had hanging around from attempts to fix this problem last time seemed to work with it. I've attached that to this message in case anyone else needs it.

Thanks, I'll be sure to add a notice for 4034X users in the Magisk guide. I have yet to see a stable CM13 ROM for MT6580 with 3.18.19 kernel. There seems to be an issue with this device chip and ROMs.
Finally got root on the Pixi4-4034
Hi everyone,
yeah I finally managed to root the alcatel Pixi 4-4 (4034) (3G MODEL). It was really tricky and there are quite some issues you have to deal with.
Therefore please read carefully my instructions and remember I am not responsible for any inconvenience, do it at your own risk.
First of all you have to unlock the bootloader and here comes the first problem. On the Pixi4 this operation leads to a sotfbick because the unlocking process deletes completely the data-partition. The phone can't boot anymore and ends in a bootloop.
To resolve this problem you must reflash the phone with SP-Flash-Tool. After reflashing the bootloader remains unlocked so that you should be able to continue with the rooting process. The second problem is that I could find only one working ROM for flashing. It is for the 4034X, my phone was a 4034D (dual SIM), after flashing I had an 4034X what means that my Pixi became a single-SIM phone, I can live with that.
Here are the necessary steps to obtain root on the Pixi4
1. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
- Go to settings -> about phone -> hit many times on "build number" till developer message appears
- Enable "OEM unlocking" located in developer options.
- Switch also "USB debugging" on
- Open the command prompt window (cmd)
- Connect the phone to the PC
- Boot into fastboot-mode by typing "adb reboot bootloader"
- Confirm the debug authorization window on the phone, check "always allow from this computer" (afterwards phone should boot into fastboot, otherwise retype the command above)
- Unlock bootloader by typing "fastboot oem unlock"
WARNING: this deletes the data-partition leading in a softbrick and bootloop,
you have to reflash the phone afterwards to continue rooting!
- Confirm the unlocking with the volume-up key
2. REFLASHING THE PHONE
- I found only this working firmware for the 4034X on this page like described by jh3141:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/warning-current-pixi-4-4-4034n-t3463154/page2
- You have also to use the scatter file described by jh3141
- After loading the scatter-file in SP-Flash-Tool you have to link the missing img-files in the SP-Flash-Tool-Window
- If you flash the 4034X firmware over an 4034D you will end in a single-SIM phone instead of a dual-SIM.
- After flashing the phone will boot again so that you can continue with flashing the twrp-img.
3. ROOTING THE PHONE
- To root the phone you have to install the twrp-image, the one for the Pixi 4034 you find it here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68049551&postcount=97
- Download and untar the file at the bottom of the page: twrp-3.1.0-0-4034.tar
- Open the command prompt window (cmd)
- Connect the phone to the PC
- Boot into fastboot-mode by typing "adb reboot bootloader"
- Flash twrp by typing "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.0-0-4034.img"
- Download Super-SU "SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip" from
https://download.chainfire.eu/1003/SuperSU/
and put the zip-file on the phone (external or internal storage)
- With the phone switched off boot into twrp by holding power and volume-up keys togehter
- In twrp go to "Advanced" -> "Terminal" -> Type the following code:
echo "SYSTEMLESS=true" > /data/.supersu
- Go back and choose "Install" -> flash the Super-Su-file (SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip)
- Reboot and you’re done, you have root and super-su on the PIXI4
- If you want to uninstall system-apps proceed to the next step.
4. UNINSTALLING BLOADWARE APPS
- You can’t uninstall system-apps directly from the Android-OS,
if you delete the apps with some uninstall-tools it’s strange but the phone will reinstall them after a reboot.
- To succeed you must uninstall the apps in twrp
- Be careful, uninstalling the wrong apps will end in a bootloop or bootfreeze and you will have to reflash the phone starting at step 2.
- Boot into twrp -> go to "Mount" -> check "System" -> go back and choose "Advanced" -> "File Manager"
- In file-manager navigate to the appropriate app-folders and delete the .apk-files
- IMPORTANT: before rebooting you have to wipe the dalvik-cache
- Go to "Wipe" -> "Advanced Wipe" -> CHECK ONLY "Dalvik / ART Cache"
- Confirm wipe and reboot
I personally like the Pixi4-4034, it’s a very small one that is very useful as second phone especially on holidays .
Have fun.

MATE 7 not booting

Hi, need some urgent help here.
I was trying to install a custom rom, so I unlocked first the bootloader, then flashed twrp 3.0.2 for Android 5.1 and with it I flashed KangVip rom (porto from honor 6).
Problem was it didn't boot, just black screen.
So I supposed the problem was with the rom so I flashed via fastboot the aosp 6, obviously with same results.
I tried lot of stuff (twrp 2.8.x.x, reinstall stock firmware, restore twrp backup of stock full firmware and so on - I did almost everything I could do) and now I'm with a Huge problem: no huawei logo at start, just a white screen and nothing happen. I have twrp 3.0.2 for 5.1 installed right now but I can't install stock recovery.
Please help me, what do I gotta do?

the ported rom is based on Android 6.0 you have Android 5.1 youk should flash 5.1 based rom..
it's good to flash stock and update official to b560 or b571 depending on which region to have then flash twrp recovery and then flash desire rom..

Hope you can help me out here...I had just gotten my HAM7 for a couple of days. Was on 4.4.2 B120, was able to get it up to B326. Just yesterday I attempted to flash up to B331 and it succeeded according to the "local update" option. Then it went on boot loop. I tried doing the force 3-button option and that worked to the point of saying it succeeded and will reboot. Now I'm stuck on Ascend Mate logo. I can no longer get into factory option mode (V+Power), only fastboot mode. Also, I can't do force update no more so I can't try any other "update.app" unless I'm missing something here.
Any help in getting this unit at least back to working condition will be a BIG help. I just received this two days ago.
Thx!!!!

Yes, bootloader is unlocked. FYI, I can't do Vol+ Power or 3-button force. I have no idea what went wrong after the B331 update.app flash. It said successful then boot loop after. I have looked all over the forums and tried everything from flashing C900B300 rollback to try and get 4.4.2 that I started out with, but I really don't know which firmware to start with. The last update.app files I was using was the European variants. Phone was originally locked to Ecuador MoviStar network at B120SP04, then I flashed up to B324 5.1.1. Rooted and then wanted to upgrade to B331 so I unrooted and flashed. Now I'm stuck.

Thank you very much....hope that will solve the boot issue and bring this unit back to life
Alright, so I've given up complete hope that I can get my unit back up and running again. I've tried so many ways already with no success (fastboot/adb, force upgrade, etc.,), and even tried to copy my second HAM7 images (via sdk tools) and to no avail.
The thing I'm trying to understand is where exactly do I start with trying to revive? When I first got this device from eBay, it was apparently still on "MoviStar" Telefonica-Spain network so my network bars showed "R" for roaming. Somehow, I was able to flash it from being on V100R001C00B120SP04a and upgrade to B127>B145>B324 which made me able to use my own service normally. It worked fine and I was even able to root it. Decided to do a last upgrade to B331 and while the local update option showed it as successfully installed, it went into boot loop ever since. Hence, I used European firmwares for most of the flashing. My second mate was on B145 and I was able to get that to B331, which is running fine right now.
ATM, I am ONLY able to do Volume-/Power to get into fastboot.
Doesn't work:
- V+/Power (stock recovery)
- V-+/Power (3-button force)
What works:
- V-/Power with USB for fastboot
*Bootloader is unlocked, but I do believe that after flashing the last firmware of B331, I may have done a factory wipe, which probably reset the USB debugging option as well. So, I'm sure I'm stuck with a device that just might be flashed on the wrong firmware and is factory reset which prevents me from flashing a custom rom or even the stock rom???
Any last advice I would be so thankful for...still waiting on the link for KangVip rom from (fazi2015)
All the best...

Okay, so final result is I'm stuck on a frozen logo now. The twrp bat file again showed success in flashing and rebooted the device, but I'm hung on the "Huawei Ascend" logo. I have to pull the battery to shut it off, otherwise it stays on. So I'm now sure that it's a hard bricked device since I did the stupid thing of factory resetting which probably reset the usb debug...making it almost impossible to flash any firmware now.
Thanks for the help anyways...I really appreciate it. Gonna throw this up on eBay and see if anyone wants it for parts

I know it's annoying but last time I research more and guide you I was have same problem don't give up....
I send you recovery flash in fastboot no need of usb debugging usb debugging need for adb not for fastboot in fastboot flash recovery by your self download it
https://mega.co.nz/#!GRw0CZjQ!iZllDkA6yJeWk7iEA4vEVA94r2nM_YjAuiS8B9IZdm0
then extract the zip go to resource and hold shift and left click then select open command port here then power off device completely boot into fastboot (bootloader) connect the device to pc and in command port type
fastboot flash recovery twrp_2_7.img
after that type
fastboot reboot and hold the volume- button of device it'll boot into recovery if you success then reply..
I've noticed two things when flashing KK or LP. On KK, the phone does a constant boot loop with Huawei logo (on off on off), but on LP the Huawei logo hangs...it doesn't boot loop. Is this an indication or just a fault with both OS?

Press volume down while powering on. Does the bootloader appear? If it does, use
Code:
fastboot flash recovery NAMEOFTWRPIMAGE.img
Code:
fastboot boot NAMEOFTWRPIMAGE.img
Backup your data, reboot to bootloader and flash stock ROM before proceeding to flash a custom ROM (or try flashing the custom one directly).

I have a similar issue, as my phone also cannot turn on and I have TWRP recovery.
I had rooted my phone with SuperSU and unlocked the bootloader via motorola's tool. But then due to SafetyNet, apps such as Snapchat wouldn't work (cant log in), and I couldn't download Netflix (totally a huge issue).
So I decided to try switching to Magisk instead, as I heard that uses systemless root that doesnt trip Safety Net. While uninstalling SuperSU (using the built in feature for full removal), I was able to uninstall SuperSU and unroot my phone, but was not able to restore the stock boot image in the process. It was at this point I made a NANdroid backup in case I stuffed anything up.
Because of this, I was unable to flash Magisk via the TWRP recovery, so I downloaded a previous version of the firmware from January to flash back to from here. After flashing this and also wiping the user data, my phone booted up fine and worked, and appeared to be in normal condition.
However, then I elected to download and install the firmware update. This all went well, and was installing, until just at the end of the process, when the phone turned off. It had over 60% battery at the time.
At this point in time I'm still unable to get it to boot up, even into recovery or fastboot mode, so I cant really do anything, or restore my NANdroid backup.
If I plug it into my laptop, and hold the power + volume button down for a period of time, I can hear the USB connected tone (Windows 10), which then switches to a disconnected tone and a "USB device malfunctioned" error message pops up.
I tried leaving it unplugged all of last night just in case it was stuck in a boot loop or something so the screen couldn't display anything, in order to flatten the battery, but obviously I couldn't tell any difference. I'm currently now trying to have it plugged into power for an extended period of time just in case it is actually just flat. The current condition is just a black screen as if there was no power at all, with no lights or anything, regardless of a charger being connected, with the buttons not doing anything (I've attempted holding down the power and volume down buttons together for at least 2 minutes to no effect)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My specs: Moto G Turbo (2015), model XT1557, running Android 6.0.1. Can't remember exactly, but it previously had the latest firmware available before I tried flashing the January firmware.
