Sometimes when replying to a text message, as soon as I hit the send button, I will receive a message from myself, it shows up as "Me" the message is still bring received by the other person, but just seems odd that it's sending it to myself as well. Any ideas? Btw I'm stock on latest update.
I had similar problem but i dont have it anymore as of now but they said at tmo that samsung will send a OTA with a fix but idk if thats true thats what i got from tmo at puerto rico

Hey everyone. For some reason, I'm not receiving text messages. People are able to see the messages I send, but I can't get any from them. This is really starting to bug me.
I used NoGPRS To disable MediaNet and AT&T ISP GPRS. Does this have something to do with it?
hey i got the same sorta problem. started happening last night. i would recieve texts way late. im not sure. im running romeos
I'm not recieving texts at all.
The only time I get texts or send them, is when I take the battery out, put it back in, and fire it up again woked once or twice,

I have the problem of texts coming in really late or when I open the messages program. I am on Vodafone UK. Wonder if its a software problem? What software are you using?

I was using the stock at&t rom, but I flashed elite rc3 on my phone and now its instant again... it has to be software related.
Do you still get charged for texts that are blocked by a blacklist?
My number was somehow obtained by a spambot and I need a way to block the texts. I know Cyanogen has a blacklist option and I believe messaging apps like Handscent have it too.
My question is, will using these blacklists prevent the text from going through and thus me not getting charged for it?
Thanks!
I think you won't be charged

If you mean the texts are from a service that charges for you receiving messages, then i would imagine that you will still be charged as even though the texts are blocked they are still being sent to your number. Replying with the word STOP to one of the messages should stop anymore being sent. Are you in the UK? If so, i would get in touch with Ofcom in the first instance!

Yeah that's what I figured. Hopefully someone can confirm whether or not you still get charged for a blocked text
Regarding replying with the word STOP...
that's actually really bad advice. IF anything, all this does is confirm to the spambots that your number is legit and they will spam you even more.
I am from the US btw
I have attempted to call T-mobile but they weren't able to provide an answer. The reps weren't even aware that a phone was capable of a blacklist
Its been like a month since i got my Nexus S, and I9023 is the only model in Singapore. I found out that the phone messaging does not display messages i didnt send through the thread itself, so heres the problem, my friends have been saying that im sending them messages, that they already received. Say for example i send Hi to my friend 2 days ago, 2 days later, they might receive the same Hi message which i did not send, on top of that, since messaging does not display those messages, i wont have any idea who i sent it to.
Why are text messages that are shorter than 160 characters split up on the ATT One X? They come in as more than one message from ATT and non-ATT users.
screenshot?
Excuse the poor wording. For example I received the following message like this:
Part 1: "I dont know anywhere else to find tix. Maybe try ticketmase"
Part 2: "r or ebay but thats about it. I also talked to a friend who may b"
Part 3: "e interested in coming with us on the trip"
None of those segments are over 160 characters and each came in separately.
thats very odd, are you using the stock message app? try looking over your settings
Is the person sending those accidentally hitting enter prematurely? lol
Is that happening all the time?
No issue with the stock messaging app and stock ROM (rooted).
BTW, did you upgrade from the Tilt to the One X? If so, that is one helluva leap!
You know what, I was using a Lumia 800 before getting my HOX. The broken text messages haven't actually happened on my HOX yet but I was getting that on my Lumia 800 on AT&T service. Is it an AT&T thing? I hope not, I'm paying over $100/month, that's pretty crappy!
Same thing happening to me. Happened on the Note also when I had it.
I think it's caused by the sender. I've had it happen before, but only with specific people. They generally have had older dumbphones.

It depends entirely on how the carrier parses each message, and from what phone. Because older phones only had support for up to 160 characters per message, displaying more was impossible as dictated by the phone itself. At least with AT&T, 99% of the time for me messages are always split into parts, receiving and sending. This is to ensure compatibility with older phones, but mostly so if you're on a limited text plan the carrier can bill you for multiple separate texts rather than just one.
It's a GSM vs. CDMA thing. Most likely the person who is sending you those messages is on a CDMA carrier (ex: Verizon) and CDMA has a 160 character limit on SMS messages. GSM carriers can send much longer SMS messages so it's not a problem but both the sender and receiver must be using a GSM network.

yes but he's saying it's happening with messages that are less than 160 characters in length.

Yeah, I don't think it is the HOX. Because most of my friends have iphones, hell i don't even know anyone with a feature phone anymore. When I get the broken up message it is coming from people with iphones! So my conclusion is that it is either AT&T and so it happens to everyone or it is the iphone but I doubt it is the HOX because I get broken up messages even on my Lumia.
This has been happening to me lately when my girlfriend sends me long text messages. They get broken up and all out of order. I am using a Galaxy S3 on at&t and she has a Galaxy S5 on verizon. We are both running Android 4.4.2-kitkat. My phone is rooted, hers is not.

Did you really need to dig up a 29 month old thread to say that?

Maybe check how old a thread is before replying next time.

My friend just got a oneplus one and is using it on AT&T. He is receiving texts fine from everyone, but the only issue he has is texting me. I am also on AT&T. He is able to text other people on AT&T but for whatever reason I'm the only one that doesn't get his texts, the only way I get them is if they are an MMS. He switched his APN and I then got them but he lost LTE. Anyone have any ideas how he would be able to text me and keep his LTE? We are baffled.

he has tried hangouts, the stock one, and another one but I forget the name, and they have all failed. I've even tried changing my service center address on my iphone to see if it changed anything and it did not.

yea sounds like a bad one but if he can reach others and not you have you tried rebooting your phone as well just to troubleshoot. I would say download hangouts on your phone if you need to get in contact with him.
I remember when I had an iPhone 18months back trying to send messages to other iPhone users was a problem as there phone was still trying to send I messages and expecting I messages back. I put my sim back in iPhone and turned I messages off and it then worked
