My friend just got a oneplus one and is using it on AT&T. He is receiving texts fine from everyone, but the only issue he has is texting me. I am also on AT&T. He is able to text other people on AT&T but for whatever reason I'm the only one that doesn't get his texts, the only way I get them is if they are an MMS. He switched his APN and I then got them but he lost LTE. Anyone have any ideas how he would be able to text me and keep his LTE? We are baffled.

he has tried hangouts, the stock one, and another one but I forget the name, and they have all failed. I've even tried changing my service center address on my iphone to see if it changed anything and it did not.

yea sounds like a bad one but if he can reach others and not you have you tried rebooting your phone as well just to troubleshoot. I would say download hangouts on your phone if you need to get in contact with him.
I remember when I had an iPhone 18months back trying to send messages to other iPhone users was a problem as there phone was still trying to send I messages and expecting I messages back. I put my sim back in iPhone and turned I messages off and it then worked

Seems to be a really odd issue that I have no idea how to fix. About 3 days ago, I realized that I didn't seem to be receiving texts. At first, I thought it was from everybody and an issue of my phone. Then I realized that the people I had all texted were Verizon customers, so now I don't quite know where the issue is.
So... I had everybody I knew text me and report what carrier they have. All SMS messages received my phone except the people who have Verizon (for the record, I received texts from Sprint, US Celluar, AT&T, and T-Mobile networks just fine). I can send to them and they receive it. But when they send to me, it seems to go through on their end just fine but I never receive it. And as I said, this is something that only started a few days ago. All their texts were reaching me just fine before that.
It's worth noting that if I have them send me an MMS message, that reaches me just fine. It's only Verizon SMS messages that don't actually make it to my phone.
The only thing I've done to my phone around that time is "fixed" the APN data so it had all the T-Mobile information instead of being mostly blank as it had come. As I thought that might be the issue, I changed everything back to the way it was before, but that hasn't helped at all.
So does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? I thought it must simply be Verizon, but those people who can't send me SMS messages can still text other people just fine apparently. I haven't had the opportunity to thoroughly test that with different carriers like I have with my phone, but for the moment I'll take their word for it.

First of all, APN settings have NOTHING to do with regular SMS messages. Secondly, if you only cannot receive from one carrier, it is a network issue. I work in tech care, and believe me, it's more common than you might think. Call tech care and they will file a ticket with engineering to get it fixed. Shouldn't take too long either!
Call T-Mobile that happened to me when I had a Nexus S. They fixed it

Thanks. I called T-Mobile today, and the guy did something (I don't know what) that required me turn off my phone, but that didn't work. He commented that they have a note in the system about T-Mobile phones not receiving texts from Verizon people who have signatures set, but that's obviously not the problem either.
So he was going to send me to advanced support, but then decided that because I had ported my number over, that might be the issue. No idea how he came to that conclusion since everything worked perfectly fine until a few days ago, and the issue is almost certainly not porting-related.
But regardless, he sent me to some hard-to-understand guy (unlike the first guy) that decided that they needed to rebroadcast some kind of programming/service signal to my phone, and he said "I guarantee that by tomorrow, your service will be completely working". Also mentioned it having to take up to a full day (which it never does for me), and I *thought* he said something about not having service for a while. Except that it's been about 8 hours now and I have yet to lose service, nor is it fixed though.
So basically, when I wake up tomorrow and see that it's still not working properly, I'll be calling them back and speaking with advanced support to hopefully find a better answer for why this is happening to me (and nobody else apparently?).

Yeah the people you spoke with did not know what the hell they were doing apparently. They have to file a trouble ticket in Tech Care so engineering can get it fixed for you.
Yeah, when I called them back yesterday, they ended up doing just that. So hopefully by tomorrow, they'll have some kind of idea and hopefully a fix.
Why are text messages that are shorter than 160 characters split up on the ATT One X? They come in as more than one message from ATT and non-ATT users.
screenshot?
Excuse the poor wording. For example I received the following message like this:
Part 1: "I dont know anywhere else to find tix. Maybe try ticketmase"
Part 2: "r or ebay but thats about it. I also talked to a friend who may b"
Part 3: "e interested in coming with us on the trip"
None of those segments are over 160 characters and each came in separately.
thats very odd, are you using the stock message app? try looking over your settings
Is the person sending those accidentally hitting enter prematurely? lol
Is that happening all the time?
No issue with the stock messaging app and stock ROM (rooted).
BTW, did you upgrade from the Tilt to the One X? If so, that is one helluva leap!
You know what, I was using a Lumia 800 before getting my HOX. The broken text messages haven't actually happened on my HOX yet but I was getting that on my Lumia 800 on AT&T service. Is it an AT&T thing? I hope not, I'm paying over $100/month, that's pretty crappy!
Same thing happening to me. Happened on the Note also when I had it.
I think it's caused by the sender. I've had it happen before, but only with specific people. They generally have had older dumbphones.

It depends entirely on how the carrier parses each message, and from what phone. Because older phones only had support for up to 160 characters per message, displaying more was impossible as dictated by the phone itself. At least with AT&T, 99% of the time for me messages are always split into parts, receiving and sending. This is to ensure compatibility with older phones, but mostly so if you're on a limited text plan the carrier can bill you for multiple separate texts rather than just one.
It's a GSM vs. CDMA thing. Most likely the person who is sending you those messages is on a CDMA carrier (ex: Verizon) and CDMA has a 160 character limit on SMS messages. GSM carriers can send much longer SMS messages so it's not a problem but both the sender and receiver must be using a GSM network.

Yeah, I don't think it is the HOX. Because most of my friends have iphones, hell i don't even know anyone with a feature phone anymore. When I get the broken up message it is coming from people with iphones! So my conclusion is that it is either AT&T and so it happens to everyone or it is the iphone but I doubt it is the HOX because I get broken up messages even on my Lumia.
This has been happening to me lately when my girlfriend sends me long text messages. They get broken up and all out of order. I am using a Galaxy S3 on at&t and she has a Galaxy S5 on verizon. We are both running Android 4.4.2-kitkat. My phone is rooted, hers is not.

Hey, my girlfriend got a LG optimus Hub phone, like 3 months ago. It was all working fine until like a week before. Once in a while there comes this problem that she can't receive any sms, but she can still send me an sms. When she takes out the sim card and puts it into another phone, all the sms i've sent she receives then. And then when puts the sim back in her phone, she can receive the sms. And then it works fine for like a day, and then the problem starts all over.. What could it be? How to fix it?
Oh, and btw, it's the stock ROM and the phone has only been rooted, nothing else.
Anyone? :S
Has noone really had this problem before? :/

You might just want to try and update your towers.
What carrier are you on?

She's on Tele 2, that's the most popular carrier in Latvia.
Btw, what's towers update? 0.o
In the states you are able to type in a code (usually the same number used for activation) and it will just reconfigure to the cell towers in your area.

Oh no, that's not the case here. We don't really need an activation code here, too. So that's something different.. :/ It happened today, like 2 hours ago, again. We had to put the sim card in another phone and after like 20 mins, we got all the SMS. Then when put the sim back in the LG, it works again. But this happens like everyday. :/ The incoming messages just get stuck, but she can still send them. :/
On some sms/mms stock apps there are settings that if checked can block all outgoing and or incoming sms and mms messages. Check the settings of the app itself and if all else fails there are some really good free 3rd party messaging apps available as a replacement.

Have you applied any updates recently? A buddy of mine installed a carrier update and it made his phone go all wonky. I would suggest backing up her data and doing a factory reset. Factory resets usually always fix software issues like what you're experiencing... Also if you do a backup, start from scratch don't restore any data from the backup as you don't know what is triggering the issue....
It's not the messaging apps fault, that's for sure. Checked that one like tons of times, and tried out other apps, the problem always shows up.
Well I guess that I'll just have to do a factory reset. :/ But could it maybe fix it, by installing another ROM? Like Optimus HUB has an official support for CM7.

Oh no, actually I haven't. I'll try it next time the problem occurs and see if it fixes it!
Anyone got some new ideas what could cause this? :/
The airplane mode toggling doesn't help. :/
I've heard somewhere about something that SIM cards can get old and then this thing happens when they sometimes get stuck and you can't receive sms.
So yeah, my girlfriends SIM is like 5 years old, could that really be the problem?
So, i told my GF to go and ask for a new SIMcard, and that fixed the problem. Basically it was just too old SIM. Im just saying if anyone gets the same problem.
I'm going to sell my phone and I restored it to the stock Nandroid LG-P999-V21y that I found on these forums.
The problem I'm having it seems is when I send a text message to someone on Verizon they get it but I never get there text. I've received text's back from people on Sprint and T-mobile.
What could be causing this?

This is probably an issue with your carrier and not the phone. Maybe you should call your company and see whats up. Stuff like this usually sorts itself out overnight though.
I've already confirmed its not an issue with the carrier.
Another thing, I cant get the device to unroot itself with superoneclick it freezes after awhile.
I am having a crazy issue with text messaging. Some people are receiving them, others aren't. I can receive from everyone though. I am not sure how many others are not getting them, but it doesn't matter the network. For example, my one buddy his wife are on the same AT&T account. She receives the messages, but he doesn't. My other buddy and our manager are on the same T-Mobile account. Manager gets them, but my buddy doesn't. I'm talking with Verizon about it, but I thought I would come here where someone may actually know something. Anyone else having this issue?

YES, I had this issue and through it was because of a SMS Backup and Restore that I did from my S5. I since removed ALL text messages and rebooted. After that I feel it resolved the issue. However if you did not use a restore text application I feel that you may need to contact verizon about this issue.
