Hi,
i am considering to buy the Mi4c, but i´m not sure regarding the display.
In almost every YouTube Video i saw, the Display was kind of pale/faint.
Currently i´m using a Nexus 4 + Kernel featuring gamma control, stock looks pale/faint to me.(preferred profiles KelGhu_Gamma22 or Obsanity_Amoled)
So my question for any previous Nexus 4 + gamma control user:
How are the Displays Side-by-Side? Which one looks better/has more saturated Colors?
Sorry for my bad english, non-native speaker here^^
A previous owner here! :highfive:
I must say I'm very impressed with the color calibration on the Mi 4C, it has nothing to do like the one in Nexus 4 (kinda of washed out).
mi 4c colors and contrast are way better than nexus 4 factory. No need for such heavy corrections. I like my mi 4c factory color settings. At the moment they can't be tuned with CM because of pre compiled kernel. Saturation seems to be a little too high compared to my nexus 4 using faux accurate profile.
Thanks for your replies. I think i'm going to order it.
Anyone notice the blueish colour when having reading mode on then disabling it after a while?
I am previous Nexu4 and Nexus5 owner. The screen is much better on my Mi4c.
The picture looks crisper. It feels like it is a higher resolution than on my Nexus5...

Hi guys, I'm kind of curious on this point...
So, what do you think of the screen compare to other phones ? Like viewing angles, contrast, color reproduction etc.
Thank you guy !

there are video on the net that clearly shows how N5 display is inferior to the G2 display.
Less contrast, no good black level on N5.

Yeah I saw that
The blacks are a bit grey and the viewing angles not that great, but its bright enough that its clearly readable in strong sunlight.
after coming from the S4 I'm pretty happy with it. Does just fine in my opinion

The N5 display is the only thing I'm not really happy with. Holding it next to my N7 with identical screens, the blacks on the N7 are VERY much blacker. Black widgets on a black background on the N5 look very gray (particularly the G-music widget). Screen is very "warm" color compared to N7 being very "cool". Looking at it without N7 next to it, it looks fine (happy enough with it). Higher resolution really isn't that noticeable to my eyes.
Other than that, the N5 does everything faster.
How is the display and its colors as compared to nexus 4 colors ?? Are the colors still lacking saturation and are washed out as they were in nexus 4 ??
Best screen ever! Never using an amoled again. And those that mention colors are washed out, probably are noobs. Colors are easy "fix" once franco and faux release that option in their kernels. But if you lile to whine just becauss you love whinning, then keep doing it!

A little better but you know this is ips screen not amoled. Don't expect that crazy over saturation.
The screen is washed out an is driving me crazy but lol..besides that I love the phone the speaker kinda sucks..I just wish it had better colors G2 screen looks so much better...the screen is almost a deal breaker for me...still deciding...

In very happy with the screen and yes, a step up from the N4.

So had my N5 a few days now and it's amazing - loving it (except the speakerphone but that's another story). Previously had the N4 and had all sorts of issues with uneven screen etc (went through 8 units to get a decent one) but the N5 seems to have very good backlight uniformity and colour uniformity and I'm really impressed overall. Keeping the first one which is unusual for me.
Thing is.... it's very noticeably "warmer" than my N4. This isn't necessarily a "problem" but I'm wondering how others are finding the colour temperature or whites on the N5 compared to your previous phones. Also - I used Franco's kernel on the N4 to tweak the colour settings on that and there's a test version for the N5 I flashed but the colour tweak stuff isn't there yet as it's a test version. Is there any other way to adjust the colour temp on the N5 yet - or is it too early for that?
Try screen adjuster on the play store.

If you're colorblind, please disregard this thread. Rate this thread to express how you deem the color saturation and accuracy of the Huawei Nexus 6P's display. A higher rating indicates that you think that color accuracy is very high and saturation is excellent.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
dislike the orange color though...too high
Damn. I'm colorblind. I guess I'll disregard
The contrast is so high (when not in rgb mode) that it's almost unbearable to look at (for fussy people like me).
Unfortunately the rgb mode seems to dull things a bit too much...would be nice to have something in between.
Similar to the Nexus 6 I felt the display was too warm so I was very happy to install a kernel to make adjustments.

With the display set to sRGB mode (developer settings), images compare very closely to my calibrated laptop.
sRGB looks very accurate.
White is a bit warm/yellowish in comparison to another 6P.

I did a re install of the factory image and sRGB got checked during setting things back up on accident and I thought the factory image messed it up lol. Then I read this and turned it off. Much better.
By default it's too saturated, like the older Samsung AMOLEDs. sRGB is a bit too bland and blue but better.
Once I rooted and installed a custom kernel, I specifically reduced only saturation and now the panel is great.
I have a Nexus 4 as well.
In Nexus 4, the white is really white. But in Nexus 6P, the white is yellowish/pinkish(and it is really bothering me). Is it just my display or is it the case with everyone?
P.S. The black is really black though and the other colours seem to be fine.

My Nexus 6p at the yellow screen... it's really bad!
I just got my 6p - what is the general consensus on using sRGB mode mode? thanks

I recently bought Nexus 6P. The color saturation was perfect initially. After I tried the color inversion once, the saturation has got high. I tried fixing it through SRGB but the saturation gets too low. Not able to find a middle ground. Please help. Thanks in advance.
the only downside
display is old amoled
bad screen
i had zte z11 max
it has better screen
Yeah the Amoled panel in this phone is not good at all. However it gets tolerable with a custom kernel and color adjustments. This isn't a color accurate screen in any way. My Honor 8 and XA Ultra has way better screens even though they are LCD.

With a custom kernel like ElementalX, and with the good adjustments you got one of the best screens.

I use ex kernel manager :
Red : 210
Green : 222
Blue : 256
Saturation : 42
Value : 136
Contrast : 134
Tint : 0
I have downloaded this on my Netflix App Stranger Things 3 Ep1. I was using Xs Max prior to this. So when watching this episode I realised its too dark even in daylight scene. So I compared it to iPhone 8 Plus & Xs Max at the same scene & there was Night & Day Difference
No Matter whichever mode I selected the scene looked crap on Op7 pro ,Video Enhancer seemed to have no effect whatsoever.
No my question is ,Is That due to Hdr or screen is very much inferior? Or is it just the calibration done wrong by Oneplus.
If I root & flash custom kernel Will I be able to make it better?
Images attached are in full brightness on all the phones without any edits.
Even Lcd is better than Op7 Pro
Vs 8 plus its Nature Mode & Vs Xs Max its Srgb
I think its only yours. My colors are extremly colorful and sharp.

In general screen is vibrant & sharp but In videos when compared its not as bright as others
This is the screenshot taken of Comparison between the both from Pocket Now .See the colours, It's dull in Op7 Pro
The One Plus looks for realistic to me. The other phones seem blown out.

Can we tweak this with custom kernel or custom rom like Havoc or Lineage OS
The 7 pro should get brighter then the 8 plus. Compare hdr videos on YouTube.
I noticed the note 9 gets brighter with more clarity in direct sunlight compared to the 7 pro. But the 7 pro istill gets plenty bright and overall I prefer its larger 90hz display. It's possible there could be some variation in displays between units. Only way to test yourself is compare it with another pro.
To me it simply looks like the 7 pro is dimmer, which is normal, and the calibration is different but that mostly depends on how you set it on both. If you're going from an XS Max to a 7 pro DO NOT expect a similar quality screen, apple has way stricter QC and have the best calibrated screens, probably cherry picked as well, it's just a phone that costs nearly twice as much as the other so no surprise. I don't mean the 7 pro is bad, I think it's better than the s10 plus if we leave brightness out of the equation, you just shouldn't expect it to be on par with the more expensive iphones, which are demonstrated to be the best on the market.
For Me Brightness is not an issue, It's just that the screen in the videos seem dull or less vibrant when compared at same brightness levels. It looks like its calibrated in such a way that it suppress colours.
Is it possible to change that with a custom kernel or roms like havoc have their own calibration?
I would have bought S10+ if they launched sd variant here,Exynos is just ridiculous
I have the OP 7 Pro and a friend with an iPhone XS Max and his gets brighter but he likes the looks (color) and sharpness better on the 7 Pro. The pro is more true color and you can punch up the saturation more if you like. I think I have my 7 Pro display set on advanced>Display P3 and the slider bar about 55-60% if you used the Cold at 0% and Warm at 100% so it's slightly toward the warm side from the half way mark of the slider. This gives the 7 Pro display a bit more of a richer color.
Forget about the 90hz, the 7 Pro is just full on ridiculously better then any other phone but the one that's 120hz (Asus or ROG phone I think) especially since you can just force 90hz all apps on the fly (JOnePlus Tool app in Play store) and really see very little battery drain differences.
There is a HBM (high brightness) app you can use. Not sure if you need to be rooted or not. No issues here. Screen is beautiful.

It's a netflix HDR problem, even in 4k TVs.
Try a non HDR movie or series.
I was disappointed as well, but seems like it's got nothing to do with OnePlus.

I was watching the same show on Netflix today and I thought it was bad to. It was daylight out, but was very hard to see. Way to dark. I'm rooted so I don't think that matters. Maybe it's just that recording or stream.

Can we tweak with a custom kernel that supports it? I'm not rooted but will root if this is possible
You've probably already tried this but try playing around with the different picture settings (Screen calibration).
Also maybe try toggling the video enhancer option as well.

No need to be snarky about it.
I read *the* OP a couple days ago and didn't get a chance to respond until recently. I forgot some details of *the* troubleshooting steps and posted my response.
Replies like yours are why users end up feeling less inclined to try and help.

Regardless, I'll admit it's my mistake but still no need to be snarky about it.
I think with the alternative kernel is possible only to active the bright mode that push the nits at the max. I think is not possible to modify the contrast ecc... Like the s10+ video mode
Hi all,
I really Like this phone.
I have it since 2 Werks now. And its also my first AMOLED Screen.
In comparison to my previous phones, it Looks Like the refresh rate is very low.
Scrolling in Browser really Hurts my eyes after some minute, it blurs a Lot.
I saw that its already possible to overclock the Displays of Other Smartphones Like on the Mi 9. What about the Pixel 3a?
