Screen is easy to scratch - LG V10 General

Only had this phone a few weeks........got it the first day it was available, and have treated it like a baby. Screen is already full of micro-scratches. I thought a flagship device would have a better screen. Have never had issues like this with any of my HTC's.
Anyone else suffering from the same?
Is there a way to take micro-scratches out?

Screen protector helped hide mine.
My V10

It's Gorilla Glass 4. Same as on the Note 4. I had a ton of Micro Scratches on my Note 4, so I threw a screen protector on this thing right away. GG4 gets those micro scratches waaay to easily.

What do you guy's use to clean your screens?

have had gorilla glass 3 & 4 for some time, just turned in a note 4 in pristine condition!
No Screen Protection! trust me if your gorilla glass is getting scratches, it's you!

i had that kinda scratch on my G4, I thought V10 is better and i haven't put screen protector yet. but you guys scare me !! getting one soon.

Not a scratch on my note 2,3 or 4. Lg V10 one 1" long on the 4th day.

Yes the screen quality is ****ty and do not compare it with HTC at all it does not deserve to be in the same space... mine did not get scrathed anywhere still there are scratches .. If it gets scracthes from being in my pocket and rubbuing against my clothes this is a ****ty build .. i dont know what a fall would do ..

My screen is scratched noticeably. Combined with the back cover falling apart I'm rather frustrated.

Well this is unfortunate and here I was returning the blackberry Priv because of the build quality..

exactly
it stays in my front pocket by itself...no coins, no moneyclip, no keys....just fabric
and never gets set face down on anything
yet it has micro scratches after just a few weeks of ownership

did you get the scratch from doing anything, or just from having it in your pocket?

luckily it's only noticeable when the screen is off.... but I expected better. I really do like this phone, but looking forward to trading it in already.

I like what LG did with the v10 and I love the promo. But man They failed terribly with the build quality. I never use cases or screen protectors. I've had every phone you can name. Even my Note 5 was naked. I've never ever had a screen scratch from just being in my empty pocket. Even the Note 5 got thrown in my backpack with my chargers accidently and came out with a small scratch on the back but the screen was fine. Not sure what's going on with the v10.

You can never throw in this phone in your backpack with chargers .. I feel so bad about this phone now .. surely not worth .. I had big hopes LG disappoints ..there are so many ...really So many bugs that its unbelievable ..LG knows nothing about making softwares. I will buy a screen protector for the first time .. MY HTC HD2 years old so badly neglected and thrown around... doesnt have a single scratch .. Shame on LG i am going to publicly shame them on twitter..

Wow, this sounds terrible. I bought a tempered glass screen protector before the phone so I put it on right away right when I unboxed it and before turning it on. I'm sure I'd have scratches all over too if I didn't.

I hate screen protectors, and phone cases. I'm a very tactile person.........flagship phones like this are too beautiful to hold with cases and screen protectors.
It's like wearing a condom..... Who likes condoms?!

my screen is scratched too. I dont use screen protectors as I am super careful with my phone. I dont know what caused my scratches but there are 2 subtle ones.

I was told this phone has two layers of gorilla glass on it..... it's definitely not the same gorilla glass I've had on other phones.

micro scratches?

Is anyone else experiencing micro scratches?
I've baby'd my phone since I got it, never letting the screen touch anything, the pocket I put it in only ever has my phone it in, nothing else, ever.
Just recently after owning the phone for a little over a month now, im noticing micro scratches on the screen.
It's not normally seeable, but if your in a place with bright lighting or outside its pretty noticable and really annoying.
I figured with the gorilla glass on these things It'd wouldnt be an issue to not have a screen protector, especially for someone as careful as me.

on topic : get a a screen protector... a sand grain can successfully scratch u r screen but nails and knifes cannot
My commuter case came with a screen protector, but i've heard they're not the best and that an invisible shield would be better.

Lol this. It sounds freaking ridiculous that something that is sharp/dangerous to us, can't damage the phone, but something we don't even think about can.
Damn Mohs, and his scale.
These phones come with an oleo phobic coating, so some of the micro scratches could be in that as well.
and yeah, dust and sand can contain ground up quartz, sucks.. :/

Really? My Gnex did too, and that felt ALOT better than the straight glass on the HOX. I love this phone, but that's one of the few things I miss about the Nexus
I'm going to try to pickup an invisible shield for it.
I figure that even though the screen protector wont fill in the scratches, the light would reflect off the invisible shield instead of the screen making the scratches less noticeable. Does that make sense?
Yes. I had a few scratches on my sensation, and I put a skinomi screen protector on it, and now you can't see the scratches.

I've heard putting it on in a steamy bathroom makes it easier.

If you would like, ATT puts them on for free in store I'm pretty sure. But the shields are expensive. I've heard some great reviews on skinomi so you could give that a shot. As far as a steamy bathroom, I usually turn on the shower for a little it really does help. Might be a placebo but I've gotten all my screen protectors near perfect.. I'm having too much fun using the phone naked though. Still contemplating getting a screen protector cause it would help with the face grease after talking on the phone.
I should be able to get an invisbleshield for fairly cheap locally.
Or I could order the bodyguardz screens online and get a 2 pack for about the same price as the invisbleshield, but then I have to wait a week.
Has anyone tried toothpaste or something else to remove the scratches? I have been contemplating it but I haven't seen any conclusive answer on what does and does not work.
From what some said, toothpaste works by grinding down the glass to get even with the scratches. Didn't sound like a good idea to me but I am open to suggestions

the toothpaste trick is NOT FOR PHONES.
Don't do it, you'll most likely scratch the **** out of your screen and make it look really foggy.

Haha, thanks I didn't plan on trying it since it fell under the "doesn't sound like a good idea" category. I figured there had to be something phone safe other than a post-injury screen protector though

You could always replace it, lol.

XO, BSE, SGP or something else?

Which will be the best screen protector? Which is the best based off your past experiences?
I am in the UK and willing to order from the US but I'm not sure which is the best. I still need to sell my unused XO from my Galaxy Nexus
UK here too. I've tried Zagg, Skinomi and BSE in the past. BSE are undoubtedly the best of those 3
I'm having trouble deciding on a screen protector as well, but I've always gotten the InvisibleSHIELD. I mostly do so because I can buy the full body skin (or any of the kits they sell), then take it to the mall and they'll apply it all free of charge. If they screw up (they never do), then they'll give me a brand new one. If it gets all scratched up, gets a bubble, or ANYTHING, I just take it to the mall (without a receipt or box or anything) and they'll replace it all totally free. If I screw up applying other protectors, I don't want to have to ship it back and wait for a new one. While others do sometimes have kiosks (from what I've heard), I have yet to actually see one. I've never minded the whole orange peel thing personally, so it doesn't really affect my decision by much. I just love their warranty in combination with the kiosks. It makes it very easy.
Another thing I'm worried about is this: If I get the full body kit, can I still use a case, or will the friction of putting the case on be enough to screw it up? Has anyone had this issue? Should I just get a front and back kit instead? I plan on using case with the phone to protect from drops and what not, I usually just get a Speck Candy Shell or something, although I'm a huge fan of the LifeProof cases since they look good and offer great protection (either or not they'll make a Nexus 4 case is a different story, I suppose).
BSE all the way
...already on order.

How is the touch feeling of BSE ? Similar to glass or sticky like Zagg ?
They are all very similar. I usually go with Skinomi because of the price. I already pre-ordered it off Amazon.
I love XO skins. I just ordered one for the Nexus 4.

sgp steinheil is the best it feels smooth like its not there but is extremly hard my nexus s has deep scratches on the screen protector that havent even touched the glass
The best screen protector... is you! Don't slide your phone across the table, don't drop it, and don't put it in your pocket with potentially "dangerous" things (pens, keys, etc.), and all should be ok
I'm not a big fan of screen protectors; I like to have full touch control with my screen, and would rather not worry about what was the cause of my screen not registering that input (was it the screen protector, or just the phone itself?).
Well I don't know what kind of screen protectors you've been using but the ones I've used don't have any effect on the sensitivity of the touchscreen. I am careful with my stuff anyway but the small hairline scratches really annoy/bother me for some reason.

I personally love steinheil! ( SGP )
I'm going for Ghost Armor actually.
Your question is the best for the N4. But nobody has any of these screen protectors made for the N4, and only a couple really lucky people have the phone. None of the opinions in your poll are actually based on experience with this device and this protector. Wait until people start getting them and then look at reviews.

I'm going with BSE because I've heard a lot of good things about them. Plus I like the wet apply idea. I've ALWAYS had problems with the sticky dry screen protectors. One little piece of fuzz or dust and you have annoying bubbles every where. And over time bits of fuzz/lint get up around the corners and it slowly starts to peel off.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter what you do. Before you know it you'll be in direct sunlight and you'll see all sorts of small little scratches. Then later, you'll always know they're there. I'm OCD about it. I can't stand having the tiny little scratches because I want my phone to stay new. I think the first time you put a phone in your pocket, it gets some sort of tiny little scratch from something.. then over time they build up and make the screen look aweful. Plus its funny you say pens and keys because those things wont scratch gorilla glass. I've tired a key on my old Atrix and nothing comes from it. It's actually particles of dust that have maybe glass or something else hard, or sand.
I want a dry applied one and really wanna know if a dry one can cover the entire screen of Nexus 4.......
XO Skins are the ones I have been using for a few years now. From what I have read xo and sgp are the only ones without orange peel. I don't know how the sgp do on curves though I posted a review of xo in my signature when I had the samsung google nexus

Me too. I ordered some of these:

They were great on my G2 but it has a flat screen. I'll let people know after I get them. I will be disappointed if they don't properly stay on the screen.
What is this "Orange peel" that people are referring to?

Mate 7 Durability ?

There is still no drop test available for this device. Have any one of you dropped the phone to the ground yet ?
Important to know if you used screen protector or not.
I have removed the screen protector, to get a better image. I did drop my phone to the floor, it did glide from the chair straight down with the "screen" down From about half meter (chair level). Luckily.. not a single scratch on the phone.. I know half meter is not impressive.

Well.. the hardness of the material is of high importance.. Concrete floor..is the worst.
However I refuse to buy any flipcover for this device, since the thinness of the phone is important
if you are going to use a big phone like this...
Glass screen protectors seem not be a choice either, since it seem most people have problems to apply them properly due to the surface of the phone is not 100% straight.
Dropped mine 2 times. First time in the snow on the ground and second time on the road. Has some little scratches on aluminium case and one scratch on white part next to lcd screen. Has tempered glass on it.
All the times I have dropped my phones the root cause have been "sleep deprivation" , I know I should be extra careful those days at work when I have not sleeped enough hours, if I have slept only 4 hours in the night I am more likely to drop my phone.. My last G2 did surrive 3 months I hope my m7 will surrive longer. in the spring I hope there is some phones on the market that want me to upgrade, maybe the LG G4 ?
I am little bit worried about the second hand value of the M7. in Sweden there seem to be no explosion of "popularity" of the phone, it was more in the first month of the launch but now it seem less.
I am stubborn to not use any flipcover on this device. Since The big size of the phone makes the extra thickness the phone not enjoyable to handle and hold in hand... Using Glass screen protectors seem not work good with M7 since it is hard to apply because the screen is not 100% straight.
Made a huge drop on the floor today luckily not scratches and the glass did not crack either I was very worried.. So it looks durability is not bad so far.

Drop test
I have "drop tested" my phone by accident twice already haha ... so far 0 scratches on it! maybe i was really REALLY lucky or its super durable phone! I have dropped my phone the first time from 1 meter on a wooden floor, and the second time from half a meter on the same wooden floor and has nothing, screen is perfect, no scratches on the edges, just nothing! I was amazed that it has nothing but its a fact for me
Got the Nillkin glass on it...99% straight, just the bottow right corner as a 1% of not perfectly strightness (not visible if glass not applied)...so for me Nillkin glass = 100% good choice
After 6 months finally I did drop the phone on stone floor, it did result in a quite big crack, but not too vissible, but yet big.
I did quickly order a glass protector.. to make sure the crack does not grow bigger.. I also have hopes that the glass protector will make the crack on the glass even less visible..
I did not have time to look thru which is the best glass protector, since I was in a hurry to get one to prevent the crack from getting bigger .
I bought this one https://www.mytrendyphone.se/shop/huawei-ascend-mate7-142979p.html
I hope it is one of the better ones... The glass is from Japan.
With this say, I can tell you, that the Mate 7 have surrived many big drops, if your phone will surrive will depend on luck but also mostly of the surface material, wood floor is no problem at all for mate 7 you can drop it many many times on wood floor, I have done that.
But on stone floor the percentage of several of the glass is a lot less! Then you really need to have the luck on your side.
I still consider Mate 7 onne of the more durable phones, how it compares with Note 4 would be interesting..
I think Samsung Edge series though are in a class in its own, from what I understand they do not use glass but plastic ?
I never dropped it and I never use cases
For me this phone is excellent!
EXCELLENT BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!!!

How many of you with scratches on screen?

Hi people!
For those without screen protection, how many of you with scratches on screen of the S7 flat?
No scratches on my S7
No scratches on my S5 with not even a case for almost 2 years
its not bout scratches its bout how well you take care of your phone because it comes with gorilla glass 4 so it shgould last if you take care of it.
Gorilla Glass 4 my ass. I baby my phones and have never scratched a screen until this one. Super disappointed with GG4 or Samsung's implementation...
I also take care of my phones VERY much, and can see some scratches visible on sunlight after 3 months. I never put my phone with something that can scratch it. But then again, I saw those little scratches on every phone I had. Good thing about older phones is that it wasn't so freaking hard to find a screen protector

When U live in Serbia, ordering things is a pain in the.. Neck
I have a friend that works in a larger phone accessory shop here, and he said that none of the protectors they have are full screen or that they always have bubbles.
Have U tried any? Maybe a suggestion so I know which protectors are good for ordering online.
I have a galaxy alpha with gorilla glass 4, and also have the small scratches.
These small scratches come from sand, dirt, dust that is harder than the screen and rubs against your phone in your pocket, these small scratches are unavoidable without screenprotector.
But these are small so they don't bother me, what worries me more is the back glass which is not GG4 and scratches more easy.
Hi everyone.
I've owned a Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930W8 Exynos edition since release date. One day around month 3 I was removing the phone from my otter box case and with the littlest bit of flexing the back glass cracked horribly. I found this to be very annoying since this is supposed to be a "prime" quality phone with gorilla glass 4. I think it was more like gurly glass 4 as I bearly flexed the phone at all and am a very caring / gentle phone user and have owned many and never cracked a case/screen ever. My question is has anyone had broken glass, front or back replaced under samsungs warranty or am I crap outta luck? I called Samsung once and they said it's not covered. Since it was not outside of proper use I feel I was fed a line. Any help or suggestions? Very dissapointed in gorilla glass 4,and Samsung for placing it all over all sides of the gs7 in a very thin manner.
Makes me rethink if I'll ever purchase another Samsung again.
Discouraged and disappointed!

Hard or rigid protectors can't cover the whole screen because the edge has a bevel. I got an anti-glare matte screen protector and it works great

Thanks for the tip!
But I don't really want a rigid protector, I mean, i have been using plastic film protectors on all my phones, because I'm very gentle with them and just want to keep them from small pocket scratches. I just need a full screen one that will go over those 2.5d edges of the glass. I also don't like those matte protectors, they totally mess up the screen quality
I had 3 years SG S4 and only one little scratch. After 3 days having S7 I have already weird "graze" (is it correct word in English?) . Is not visible when screen is clean but dirt always stay in the same place. I'm VERY disappointed. Also afraid about home button made of plastic !
My first S7 edge had a super Deep scratch right on the screen curve, stay that for awhile before it turn in a crack going across the screen.

I bought a Fosmon screen protector for both mine and my wife's S7s and they fit really well. If you apply them correctly then you won't have any bubbles. I never use the guides or anything to put it on, I just go slowly and use a credit card to smooth out bumps. Cleaning your phone screen first with alcohol and a lint free wipe cuts down on anything left on the screen to cause bubbles.

That is not at all what I was asking. My question was has anybody had this issue and had it replaced under warranty? If so what did the process entail and what was said to get it done. I appreciate your comment as to boost your standings in the forums but if your info is not some of actual help you might wanna say nothing at all and let someone else answer the issue.

Since you went hostile... You might wanna to stop being a **** and start your own thread, for your own issue, instead of hijacking this thread. You broke your phone and that isn't a warranty issue, which Samsung already explained to you. He offered you info the help you quickly & easily fix your phone for very little $.
As for screen scratches on my S7, I don't have any so far. No screen protector either. I guess it's probably nerdy, but I carry my phone in a Nite-Ize holster, on my belt, and never in my pocket. So far, I've never scratched a screen on any of my phones since the OG Droid. I had a screen protector on my OG Droid, for a few months, but that's been the only one I've used.

Personally if your just using it day to day you wont see any scratches on your phone especially since the Galaxy S7 has gorilla glass 4. I would recommend a screen protector or even a glass screen protector if you are the type of person who chucks around their phone and doesn't really care about it.
You should be fine using it without a screen protector

Question Screen Protector

Can anyone recommend a third party screen protector that actually works ?
Samsung says you shouldn't remove the OEM screen protector... but is it okay to do so?
If you ask me... I would recommend not to remove the OEM screen protector at the same time don't use any 3rd party screen protector too...

I use the Skinomi screen protector on mine, been using them since my Pixel 2 XL. The Samsung one is a flimsy piece of hard plastic that loves finger prints. So glad I took the "risk"
You can find a number of videos where people apply their own. Definitely recommend, but it is scary while you're doing it
My tip after applying it: Keep the phone unfolded overnight!

Hi!
How long have you had the Skinomi protector on? Any problems? Does it feel as smooth as the stock protector? Does it cover the whole screen? Stock protector has small gaps all around the screen.
Some questions...

It feels so much better. I've had it on for about 3 months now. Keep in mind I never liked glass screen protectors. The 'rubbery' ones that require water feels better, and makes sense for a phone where you're not likely to drop it on the screen
No problems, just remember not to fold the phone for at least the day afterwards (I have a very small bubble there due to my impatience). Plus, the rubbery ones self heal so it always looks great. The fact that it never shows fingerprints too. No more constantly wiping the phone after every use
Yes I know exactly the issue with crap getting along the sides. So infuriating, but this one reaches the corners well. I also put the protector touching the very top of the phone as well to eliminate the top gaps so the only real gap is the very bottom, and that isn't touched as often as every other part of the phone. I also don't remember the last time I needed to clean it
In the picture, ignore the bottom gap gunk. It looks way worse on camera for some reason
Let me know if you want any more pictures/angles

When installing the Skinomi, what's the best way to deal with the hinge dip when "squeegeeing" the protector to the screen?
Just ordered the Skinomi.
I almost got T-Mobile to exchange the whole phone. They finally asked me when I bought it and determined it was still under Samsung warranty and directed me to Samsung.
Once again, Samsung sent me on a wild goose chase to Best Buy and the Samsung Experience section which, no longer exists at the 2 Best Buy's I tried.
Dismal support from Samsung!

Nice, that's the one I'm using
I think I first tried squeezing from middle outwards, but the phone did fine doing it normally (from top to bottom or vice versa). I was only worried about water getting into the hinges, but apparently these phones do well with water according to YouTube durability tests
I hear a lot of people with the same experience for the lack of Samsung support. It's a shame
Have you all read this yet:
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 durability tested — read this before you buy
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is more durable, but the foldable display itself is still fragile

After reading that and watching the YouTube to replace the screen protector, seems pretty scary to replace the screen protector.
The best screen protector secured at last!
After many months of scouring the internet and more money spent than I'd like to admit, I have finally found what I would consider a better screen protector than even the OEM installed one from Samsung. I have tried close to 10 different...

I just made a thread about this and I'm absolutely positive I found the best screen protector by a longshot. It's also a very straightforward install, I got a perfect install my first try.
