So basically what I have done is I simply flashed open gapps pico package around 40mb in size from TWRP on stock rom 5.1 of Moto g3.
The results are as you can guess all the google apps that came preinstalled in the device were removed now you can see only core apps needed for playstore functionality. It removed Google app and Google now launcher too so before flashing you should install any third party launcher and integrate it in system too(optional).
It improved performance and battery life a bit and let me get rid of unwanted Google apps and the needed apps I have downloaded them from playstore.
So try it take a backup before hand if you wanna revert back(why will you do that.)
Installation
The Google Applications packages should be installed via recovery. Exact steps vary, but the general process is the same as that used to install CyanogenMod, or any other flashable zip.

I've got a custom rom which includes some non-stock launchers I can not uninstall the normal way, they're buggy and I rather not flash the rom again.
Is there any way to get rid of the launchers together with some other preinstalled apps via the use of ie a file manager with root access?
Or do I have to boot into recovery and muck about with aroma and other things just to get the job done?
Also, is there a way to install stock JB launcher from a Gapps package, if so, which would be the proper one to pick?
I'm running 4.1.2, downloaded gapps 20121011 which seemingly did not include it.
Thanks a bunch to anyone willing to give a headsup on this question!
hello , is there anyway to install play store on cm10.1 without installing gapps ??
i used to install the apk and it always ran fine ( v 4.0.26 or 27 smth like that ) but since the lates few updates it always crashes
i tried to push the apk into the system but also it crashes
this happnes to me with cm10 , cm10.1 ( nearly all roms )

you can try flashing the gapps package and then individually uninstalling the parts you dont want from system apps by using a file explorer such as ES file explorer...
but as far as i know to run the play store you need to login to google account.
The component it needs is the Google services framework. You cannot use the play store without it.
However....you can disable the parts you don't like. It involves more than just deleting apps you don't want though. You have to disable stuff in the Google services framework to really shut the unwanted components off.
Check the thread in my signature. Go to the 2nd of 3rd post where I have a list of questions. Find the one about wake locks caused by the Google services framework and check out then link in that question. That will tell you how to edit the Google services framework and get you started on that process.
If you follow that guide exactly as I have written it you will end up with basically only the play store working and all other Google apps shut down. It nearly eliminates Google wake locks and might have a positive impact on battery use as a result. The only catch is that your WiFi and data icons will always be grey. They won't change color when connected .
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.
hi :highfive:,Running CM14.1 and thanks to Alberto
i want to Uninstall Some CM apps , because i like the way new Google apps are having LONG PRESS OPTIONS
so i have installed several Googleapps ( which are having LONG PRESS OPTIONS) now when i goto my APP DRAWER i see many apps DOBULED (cm apps and Google apps - both are sitting sidebyside in my app drawer)
i dont want CMapps, soooo...
can i remove them?? if i remove them does CM14.1 start behaving wierd??
and another thing is i want Stock Google apps to take CMapps place like system apps
( i can manually goto ES explorer and change to systemapps, but i got a doubt!! )
do these new system-apps get Playstore updates?? as normal apps??
Things i want to remove:
CM - calender, contacts, phone(dialer), Filemanager, messenger, camera, caluculator,Clock,Gallery
-----------------
i want to replace all of them will Google apps and Moto apps
so can anyone suggest me things to do/ not to do???
are those apps mentioned above safe to remove/replace??
Use a Gapps package that is more complete... like Stock or Full, or maybe even Super but I'm not sure there is room in the system partition. Stock and Full will replace embedded apps with Google apps (look at the detail here). Otherwise you can use TiBu or something to write over the stock apps, but they will just get replaced again on the next nightly you flash.
The only thing you need to do is reflash the rom but now this time use Gapps aroma installer from opengapps.org in that zip you can do everything you want like selecting and removing apps. you can select which googleapp you want to use and which stock cm app you wnat to remove.
Hi,
I am using LineaseOS 15.1 with OpenGApps full. I found it installed too many unnecessary packages. But I do not want to re-install the whole system again. I wonder if I can flash the same open-gapps package with a new .gapps-config that exclude packages I do not need. Would it automatically remove those apps from my system even if I have updated those apps?
Say, I don't need Chrome. But it is installed as a system app, so I cannot remove it, and I have updated it in the Play Store. If I flash the open-gapps package with a new configuration file to exclude Chrome, what will happen to the Chrome installed on my phone?
Re-install the whole system is too time-consuming, so I hope someone has experience could help me out.
Thanks,
D.
Flashing a different version of gapps will not remove any apps.
Can anybody here point out or rather I should say tell me appropriately list of SAFE2REMOVE SYSTEM apps from latest Stock Rom running MIUI 11 which is also latest Rom through some Root enabled app.
List of system apps which I can remove to free up both storage and Ram (Bloat-ware) sucker.
Thanks in Advance
Cheers ?
I will suggest you to rather flash a Custom ROM as after you uninstall the system apps, you will have to download the full 'OTA' package when there is and update and it will check if anything is modified in system and the uninstalled system apps will be back again. What's worse is you will first download the half package and than it will fail to install and after that you'll have to download the full package.
