samsung p900 live demo unit - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have offered a live demo unit of p900 with very good price
what is a live demo unit means.. and what is different between demo and normal unit?
should I buy it?

How is it that you're unaware of what the seller means? Is this a retail store that you're physically shopping at or via online?
When I hear demo I think of a unit that's out on the floor of a store being used daily by dozens/hundreds of people.
The only way I'd buy a demo unit is if it were at a retail establishment, I was able to verify its physical condition myself, and was able to get full warranty out of it. I've done it before but never on a mobile device that cost hundreds of dollars. When it comes to expensive stuff I don't like to take chances on "too good to be true" kind of deals.

Sears outlet shipping... ?

Will they ship to a different store? I have been religiously checking the site but have not found any units within a 2 hour drive for me. Also, will a regular sears have returns if I just show up or call? Has anyone been that lucky? How much are the returned/ open box units at a regular sears? Thanks.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Regular Sears stores that get returns are what shows up on the outlet website, there isn't a special set of stores that are considered 'outlets'. The outlets are just regular stores that happen to have returned items.
There are actual sears outlet stores in addition to the regular store. Im located in southern california and they have a physical outlet store 10 minutes from me but they never have the gtablet in stock. There are about 2 other regular sears stores in the area too. That would be awesome if they were all the same.

I purchased online from the Sears Outlet web site and called the store directly, asked for package pickup, and requested shipping. They shipped from Texas to Ann Arbor, Mi 3 day service for $11.
The only problem was the shipping had to be paid with a Sears charge card. I did not have one, had to borrow a friends.
Wow. That is awesome. Did you actually buy it online and then call the store? Why did they need a sears card for the shipping? Even with the shipping that is still a pretty sweet deal.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I managed to find a great dept manager that shipped to me for free! I recommend you go through with the order then call the store once you get your pickup confirmation. The first store I tried told me they couldn't do it, out of laziness I guess.
That's pretty sweet. What did you do when the first place wouldn't ship? Was it a hassel to get your money back?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
With the first store I called them up before I placed the order. So when they told me they wouldn't ship, I tried to just order and schedule a UPS pick up, but in the meantime someone else must have ordered it. Lucky for me though as I found the second store!
It's definitely a challenge and takes patience, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I think this is a good device for $280, but $399 is too much.
I absolutely agree. Thank you for the advice. I'll have to give it a shot. I am hoping that viewsonic will start selling all the units that were returned to them too. That would be awesome.

There's one unit available in the NYC area right now and one new one in NJ . You can use mrrebate to get 4% back on the purchase .

The NJ one is gone, only NY and NC left, and I can get the NC one to take my order, and the NY store wont answer the phone.
I have $200 in gift cards I want to use, but cant use Gift cards on sears outlet :\
I have tried to buy one in the sears at oak terrance IL and had them shipped it to me. It was a painful process and i had spent at least 3 hours to call 3-4 numbers. No one really knew the process. Anyways, it was not much cheaper for me since 279 +taxes + shipping =325. I purchased mine for 349 with no tax for a new one locally. It was a very painful and you will need luck and a lot of patience. Good luck.

No tax, new, locally? That sounds kinda shady. I do know there are some internet retailers that sell them around that price shipped.

There is no sale tax in NH.
I purchased one online from Electronics Express. Free 2 Day shipping with coupon code and no tax. $365 delivered.
I got mine at Electronics Express also for $365 shipped. Great price.

Would you buy a used phone online without seeing actual pictures of the device?

Sometimes websites will sell used phones but there aren't pictures of the actual device. They have conditions listed and maybe sample pictures but it's not the same as seeing actual pictures.
Does this matter to you or am I just being picky?
No! never! I need to know where all of the scratches are and how bad they are.

Not a good ideea. You never know what is wrong with that phone.
No you should not buy..
No, it's not worth the risk
If they are reputable avenues like Amazon, then sure. If it's places like Ebay, Swappa where the only form of resolution is Paypal. Never.
I personally won't, because you can't see if the owner is lying about anything like the damage or something like that.
It all depends on the site. If it's a reputable site, especially if it has a really good return policy, then I might. If you don't trust the description of the phone, why would you trust an alleged photo of it? Either you trust the seller or you don't. Pictures vs. a text description doesn't really enter into the equation.
I always prefer to buy new.
i would never buy such a phone

Even with photos i wouldnt by it. You have to touch it, in order to buy it.
I would never buy a used phone online without pictures..... too much risk for a blacklisted phone or major damages that weren't specified by the owner
No i would not, i wouldn't even buy a phone online. If i were to buy an used phone i would pick it up personally to see if it works properly, if the screen is not too scratched etc.
A big NO as we can't get sure about the device. I bought once from that moment I'm regretting.
Hell no. I only buy used locally. Test out with sim before buying.

Nope, never.
I bought phones online but only from known stores, I'd buy a used phone only if I can touch/see it
If you are totally crazy you could give it a try. But dont complain afterwards!
I would not do this never!!!!

purchasing unseen phones
all these comments are very negative - sometimes i will take a punt on something which is poorly described or has no photo - if i know what i'm buying (and usually with some fault), then often the ones without pictures will be significantly underbid, so you could pick up a bargain. An example is my latest purchase, < £10 delivered, operable smartphone with cracked screen, touch still operates. Phones in similar condition with good descriptions hit £50. Previous, 2 broken tablets for £11, badly described and eventually ebay gave me a refund because the seller did not bother to include the promised chargers.
But, you have to be willing to take the loss if the item is not up to the level you hoped for... but then if you get one good one in three, you are on a winner!
It's not so hard to make a picture, I would never buy without without a picture. Usually I don't buy used electronics though, I prefer to spend some extra cash to make sure it won't break tomorrow.

Buying from Amazon/eBay

I'm planning to buy a laptop from Amazon or eBay. I've never bought something from the internet. Is it certain that what I order will be delivered? What should I do if the laptop does not come? Is there a chance that I will lose my money? I don't want to just throw 700$ out of the window.

Amazon is what I'd go with to have the "real store" experience, fulfilled by Amazon and brand-new. Ebay is not that risky. I've been buying on Ebay for many years. Once a seller went out of business when I ordered an air compressor. Another time someone sold me a counterfeit Kensington micro SD card. Ebay took care of it quickly both times. My favorite Ebay purchases are my Fender G-Dec amplifier (new) and an Ibanez RG350 guitar (used). You're not likely to lose your money, however I recommend buying new computers. Be sure to check your seller's feedback.

Where can I see a SW2 display model?

I'd like to see it in person before making the the purchase.
I don't know where you live, but every Sony store has a smartwatch at display in Turkey. They even let me try it on my wrist. So if you have any Sony store around you, that would be the best bet to find a display model.

I bought mine at my local Best Buy. They had three in stock, but for some reason had them locked in storage in their warehouse area and not on the store floor. Took the sales girl 15 minutes to find, then another ten minutes to find a key. They had Samsung Gears in the special Samsung section of the store, and Pebbles and Metas pushed into a display along a side wall, but the Sonys didn't even have a tag on a rack. Amazes how bad of a retailer best Buy has become. The only good things about Best Buy in my area: (1) the mall Best Buy Mobile has a guy working there that owns a Pebble and a Sony and was extremely helpful about showing his own watches and answering questions. (2) While I bought mine on Monday for $199, I was able to get the difference in price when Best Buy advertised it yesterday for $159 (sorry to say it now appears to be back up to $199).

Warning & Unexpected Loss Of Warranty For Many !

i just want to inform anyone who bought his phone via Amazon, even at normal price and on release day like myself, will not have warranty, even though EU law strictly says that there is a minimum 6 month manufacturer's warranty that is mandatory. today i received this quoted text from after sales after they already approved my case as production error:
QUOTE
Good day!
Jin here. Thank you for reaching back to us.
I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your OnePlus phone. We have already approved your service request. Our Service Center has sent you the shipping label, and DHL will come over to pick-up your parcel very soon.
About the warranty, although you bought your phone from the Amazon website, we would like to inform you that we only cover the warranty for the OnePlus products which are bought from our authorize/official resellers, or from our official OnePlus website.
After a thorouh review, the purchase you made from Amazon is not an official reseller of OnePlus. Thus, the next repair of your phone will require a payment.
Because the final price is depending on multiple factors:
1. Cost of spare parts
2. Tax
3. Shipping
4. Handling Fee
We are unable to provide an accurate number on the repair fee. The final repair fee will be given upon arrival and inspection at our service provider.
END QUOTE
for this i don't have to copy my data over hours to have a backup and be 10 days or more without my device, without knowing the price beforehand (vibration motor replacement should be possible to predict at least roughly)
i shall order and pay the motor with my local repair shop of my trust and have the device back within the hour and fully working for probably less money.
i just want everyone to know about this "questionable" business conduct and what to expect.
i shall copy paste this in various forums like XDA, REDDIT etc.
Here is some info: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/faq/index_en.htm
Under EU law you have to decide which warranty you want to invoke. In general your first contact should be the trader where you bought the phone, in your case Amazon.
Also, did you buy in a country where Amazon is the official partner of OnePlus or did you buy from a Amazon Marketplace trader?
Yeah, my first OnePlus device was the OP5 and I heard that last year. It's good to let people know from time to time but this is well known overall that OnePlus only warranties their phones purchased from their site (and don't know who is an authorized reseller). If you buy off Amazon then you need to get their protection plan if it's offered on the OnePlus.
Why didn't you just buy it from OnePlus directly to begin with? Save a few bucks? Lesson learned.
OnePlus doenst have to cover your warranty, but amazon has to.

My assumption would be he may not live in a country where you can buy OnePlus. There is no other reason to purchase from Amazon IMHO. Their prices on phones are usually a LOT higher for phones that cannot be attained by folks in some countries.
If you bought it through Amazon and it came through Prime/FBA (regardless of who the seller was), call Amazon and have them replace it. They will cover the warranty. I've had Amazon replace a Nokia E63, LG G5, and LG V20 for me over the years. They have great customer service.
Contact Amazon about warranty

I've bought items before from Amazon and have been reffered back to the original company rather than Amazon replace it. It depends on the item.

Recently, the Amazon support policy has changed. The article is replaced only if there is no authorized service center in the country of sale. Otherwise, Amazon will be responsible for following the entire repair process and the timing may be long.
good feedback all
that was the intention.
mine i repaired myself for 40 ®uros, no big issue.
policies are one thing, legal stuff is something else again and then there is business ethics and acting agains expectations.
no-one who buys a device from a reputed website on release day would ever assume there is no warranty and if i buy a volkswagen it's not mandatory to read the volkswage website. my grandpa does not have a computer for example LOL and still wants to be covered.
however, what i wanted is to refresh memories, get a various useful feedback concentrated in little space and express my opinion that
this is not proper business attitude. they produce a phone, sell it in masses to resellers and later refuse to replace a part which they
confirm that it's hardware failure due to production error..
not everything that one can get away with or is legal is correct and i'm sure that many youngsters with no or small incomes or on pocket money can get themselves into serious trouble this way.
after all in my case it was only the vibes, but what if it's a mother board? full damage moneywise i'd say and this is why it's not
ok what and how they do it.
thanks to everyone for all the great feedbacks, perhaps some more is incoming so that the page or 2 will provide useful information for
as many as possible
cheers and a nice weekend @all

Can you please share the link of the amazon page where you brought your phone from?
And as much as i am able to understand, Oneplus is not at fault here. I can buy a Oneplus phone, remove some parts from it and sell it to someone else. Should oneplus take the responsibility here?

That would depend on the fact that the phone was tampered with, if there are no signs of tampering, and it is infact a manufacturing problem from oneplus, then yes, oneplus should accept responsibility regardless of the fact that it was bought from a reseller, as in the end it was OnePlus who manufactured the phone and got paid for it. However, if there are clear signs that the phone has been opened and tampered with, then OnePlus is right to refuse warranty.

Indeed, a very stupid question. Should I buy my vacuum cleaner or washing machine directly from manufacturer's web site ? Have you heard of the word "store" or "online store" , where you buy stuff from ?
I bought my phone from Amazon DE on launch day because I trust Amazon way more than OnePlus as far as delivery times and the phone was sold directly by Amazon from their own stock. And now to find out I have no manufacturer warranty ? I don't think the EU laws allows OnePlus to treat their customers like idiots, I would immediately complain to the authorities. Hopefully this is all a huge misunderstanding.

Here in the UK (and I assume the rest of the EU) your purchase contract is with the supplier who supplied the goods to you and not the manufacturer. Thus the warranty is also with the supplier. If the goods are faulty then the supplier should repair/replace and then it's up to the supplier to sort it out with the manufacturer.

Yes, and I agree, I am in the UK as well BTW. But that is not always the case, for example I bought my old phone from carphone, and when it developed a fault, they sent me to HTC to sort it out, and HTC didn't kick up a fuss. It's just oneplus's response to this that's annoying me. If th supplier/reseller sends it to OnePlus anyway, why can the end user not do the same, saving a good deal of time in the process?
about tampering and similar topics:
in my case oneplus, after reviewing all the logs i sent to them on request and looking into it the ADMITTED a production error and
the only reason why they don't give warranty is that i bought from amazon.
why not buy from oneplus?
no specific reason, since when does one have to justify the store where he buys things as long as the store is reputable and not known to sell stolen stuff etc.?
i'd say that 90% of all goods are purchased from stores that are not owned by the manufacturers.
i bought from amazon because i buy anything i can from them hassle free for years and it's mostly about ease of use and that the courier knows me, my address and so on. it's simply a well established relationship with them.
even if i purchase a new phone on day 2 from a friend who bought it form oneplus they have to provide warranty, in fact oem warranty has really nothing to do with the place of purchase. just think about anything else you purchase wherever you find and like it.
these are simple tricks to reduce responsibilities and to make cash with faulty products.
after all the details should not matter. they deliver a new device to whoever and after one months want money to repair their own fault
after they approved/admitted the fault. all the rest is kind of blabla.... it's faulty, it's new, it has ben purchased at full price from serious
website.
if they think we should not buy from amazon then why do they sell thousands of devices to resellers even before the official release?
or does anyone think that all those thousands of devices on amazone were available on release day without oneplus knowing?
they must have shipped shiploads of devices to amazon resellers worldwide, hence it's all excuse talk and since the devices cost now between
520 and 650 euros that's not acceptable anyways. no cheap thing that has been purchased through dark channels.
What state do you live in? CA has protection for consumers. Ask them to point you to their written policy stating those purchases are not covered under warranty, if they produce a link read it carefully looking for holes. If they are covered contact Amazon and ask to show you where in their product placement it says .... The policy... If it does not Amazon should take it back as they sold it under a bait and switch scheme.
