Okay this is driving me nuts. I cannot locate the Voice Recorder app shortcut on my home screen, and I am unable to locate it in the app drawer as well.
However, if I go to settings -> apps -> all, I can see that it is installed on my phone. Does anyone know what's going on? Is there any way for me to launch the Voice Recorder app?
BTW I am using the AT&T version.

For some reason starting with lollipop, AT&T removed the stock voice recorder shortcut. It was there on my g3 when it had kit kat, but disappeared on the 5.0 update. I checked this twice because I bricked my G3 a couple times. I was hoping that it was just a missed bug or something on the AT&T lollipop update, but since I got the V10 and the shortcut is still missing, I'm thinking that this is no mistake. I use anycut to make a shortcut to it, but the "+" button crashes the app when you are on the screen where you select which recording to listen to. So I have to press the back key in order to make another recording. No other carrier has this problem with the g3 and V10 as far as I know.

I too have the AT&T version however mine came with no voice recorder at all. had to install one from the market. Running Lollipop out of the box. I wonder why all this is...
Yeah I just found this out today and was looking everywhere I could online. The only way I found out is that I have Nova Launcher on my phone. I was in the middle of making a shortcut when I noticed this.

Its installed, but not directly accessible. Its like an add on for any attatchments option for like your memo pad, messages, ect. Go to quick memo, make a new memo click the 3 dot menu and click Insert, and then youll see it.
Hey I just figured it out! I posted on the forum before this one. Its a short YouTube video I made. Hope it helps.

I've searched here, google, etc... and the solution still escapes me
How in the world do I launch Google voice search (rather than S Voice) via bluetooth when the phone is locked? This is for bluetooth dialing and navigating (push and hold BT headset call button, say "CALL ......" or "NAVIGATE TO ......."
I don't want to flash a new ROM for this, but I'm willing to consider it IF:
- Above function works
- GPS locks are just as fast as stock
- Stability is top notch
- Battery life is as good or better than stock
- UI must be smooth
Stock ROM is great!!! I'd hate to deviate, but I hate even more not being able to use the BT dialing (S Voice SUCKS and rarely works!!!)
I have to have my phone locked (exchange server rules for my employer email)... it's a good policy anyway.
I am currently Stock Rooted, bootloader locked (I can unlock if necessary)
I've seen suggestions to use the Bluetotth launcher app, which works, but not when phone is locked.
The stock ICS has this feature. I hate the Samsung forced S Voice without giving us the alternative to go back to the google apps (which is MUCH better).
I have no clue. How about random ideas?
Try clearing defaults for S Voice and Google Search in the App Manager
Check the settings in both apps (I'm fairly sure I saw an option regarding launching S Voice from the Home button in it's settings)
Try disabling/uninstalling S Voice

I've frozen S Voice with Titanium Backup. All that did was completely remove any ability for voice dialing through bluetooth.
The settings you refered to is a good suggestion, but only disables the home button (pressing it twice) from launching S Voice
Google Voice Search has no usable settings and I'm unable to use it as a default rather than S Voice
Have you tried to disable S voice from the applications settings menu? Certain launchers will allow to to assign actions to buttons. Not sure if BT is included.
And don't call me Shirley.

Freezing in titanium is the same as disabling in the applications menu.
I feel like i read somewhere that synergyROM had this feature of google now replacing s-voice when you froze it. Ill try to find what im talking about for you. Thats the only solution i can think of.

I have the strangest problem. I just changed from Honeycomb to ICS on my GT P6800. Using Odin, the flash went smoothly. However, now I hear voice prompts (a nice lady) whenever I edit my Homescreen, open or close a folder. I can nowhere find where to stop these voice prompts. As far as I can hear, they only sound when editing the (one of the) homescreens or opening a folder from a home screen. How do I silence this woman?

Thanks. Talkback is switched off, but the voice prompts remain to sound when opening or closing a folder from one of the homescreens.

SOLVED!!!
In accessibility (settings menu) I switched off an application called NoLed. Probably a bug. Since then the woman silenced! Thanks all!
Thanks for following up with your solution!
So, I got the Verizon JB update and it used to be that double-tapping the home button by default opened S-Voice, but you could change it to open any voice actions app you wanted. I use AVX which runs circles around Siri and all the others (including, dare I say it - Google Now - not for getting info by voice but for controlling your phone by voice).
Anyway, since the update it appears double tapping on the home button does nothing and I don't see any way to change this. Am I missing something? Or is this a bug that was never meant to happen? Or did they just decide to take it away for no reason?
If anyone's wondering, I haven't found a native solution for this, but the app Home2shortcut will do the trick...

Is there a way to get ok google to work on the edge?
Sent from my Samsung Note Edge using Tapatalk
It works just fine on my t-mobile edge. Just scroll to whatever home screen your Google search bar is on and say, Okay Google.
I was playing with the settings the other day to try to save battery power. I must have shut something off, because it doesn't work on mine.
Sent from my Samsung Note Edge using Tapatalk
Ok ran google setup and now it works. But it just made the search bar useless. Didn't like the looks of it anyway.
Sent from my Samsung Note Edge using Tapatalk
Have you tried this?
Settings -->language and input --> turn on voice search --> turn on, "ok Google" detection --> record your own, "ok Google "
When done, try it and works even when screens off....
That is a different way of getting there, but that is how I got it to work again. (You can also get there by using google setup in the app drawer) of course the OK Google is gone from the widget, but I guess it's better this way.

If you are using Nova launcher, it has the capability to work from any screen of the launcher. (homescreen/alt screens/dashboard)
Been using Nova for a few years and they've done a great job integrating things like this, while adding a little extra capabilities.
If you follow the directions in google setup, you can access OK Google from any screen and also if the lock screen is on if you choose to do so.

I know this but tons of other dont.
No one ever cares to read the manual.
Plus alot of stuff is disable by the carrier if they let them setup the phone.
That's why I always setup my own phone and then later go through all the settings.
I had my Note 3 able to send text messages by voice while the screen was off. And it's nice to be able to tell it to play a song while it's in your pocket.
Voice controls are cool to me. Just suck that's it's always listening so if you say something similar it will wake up.
Someone please help me out here. S voice is giving me some serious pain in the ass right now.
I want to disable S voice completely and only use Google Now but that seems to be impossible.
The Issue:
I can only OK Google from my home page where the Google search widget is. On my G3 I could OK Google from any app any screen and even lockscreen without a hiccup.
S Voice is causing issues pretty much everywhere I want OK Google
What I've tried:
Tried freezing S Voice in which case I lost the ability to OK Google from Anywhere and the lockscreen.
So tried using the S switcher app which was very buggy and had to simply uninstall it...
What I want:
Just plain OK Google and nothing else. All I want to be able to do is OK google from any screen and any app like I did so many times before on all other devices I've owned.
Ideally I would want to be able to activate it from lock screen too but that's not a priority.
Can anyone help me out here.
My friends S4 can do this all seamlessly too but the Edge seems to bug out everywhere because of S Voice
If you go to your Google settings in the app drawer, you'll find the options for ok Google to activate from any screen. I have a t-mobile Edge.
Google Settings->Search and Now
If you're rooted you can install xposed and install the ok Google module which works for any launcher

I can use OK Google from any screen and it's still available from the widget. I am using the stock launcher & have an AT&T Edge. My friend has a T-Mobile Edge and he couldn't get OK Google to work from any screen other than the home screen, even though his OK Google detection settings are the same as mine. He gave up and started using Nova launcher lol.. could be that some devices have an issue with this.

This pretty much sums it up. Like I have said I'm no noob when it comes to using Google Now and know every detail of it's settings. Yes, all my settings are set to activate from any screen yet it fails to activate.
The issue is if I freeze or uninstall S Voice I am no longer able to check mark the Activate from any screen box and if I have S Voice activated it just seems to cause issues with ok google and just a clumsy software overall.
I was just wondering if anyone had a workaround.
You have to freeze S-Voice, then clear data for the Google Search app and then set Google up again. Trust me.

You do have to freeze S voice. Then while in application manager go to Google search and clear data. Then get out of settings because you are correct the option to activate from any screen is gone. Now go to your app drawer and choose Google settings. Click on Search & Now. Click on Voice and set it up from there. The option is available in these settings.

YES! you da best. Now for the sake of it could I do the exact reverse to only use S Voice if I ever feel like using it exclusively?

Well I'm no expert but I don't see why it wouldn't work the same for S voice.
The issue I'm having is Google now won't work when connected to bluetooth. I have mine connected to my Gear S and when I say ok Google the bar stays frozen instead of jumping around showing you it's listening. Soon as I disconnect my watch it works fine. It's annoying!

Hi...
I finally got the phone 3 days ago, but noticed that when i get incoming calls i can't use the phone untill the call ends or untill i answer it, what stopping me from playing / writing messages of even use Facebook app untill: 1. I answer the call. 2. I ignore the call, and wait for the other person to hang up.
I had other phones that i could just press the "Home" button and continue with my things.
Is there any solution for that?

I can't find the dialer in playstore, i downloaded from apkmirror and i can't install to my phone. Maybe can y help me?
Ahh yeah you need a specific one. This works well

grab version 17 or newer
Great thanks
But the problem is that i think i have to root the phone, because even after installing the latest version and allowing permissions to the Dialer app i still get the calls from the default HTC original dialer.. Im using the last version (17)

you need to go into app settings and make google dialer the default phone app
Iv'e put the dialer as default everywhere also in the app category, it still only shows the calling icon on top of the screen, also won't show any contacts names when incoming calls..
Did you got this to work in your phone perfectly?
Aren't there any other apps that can be used instead?

Yes it works perfectly.
Set as default, enable all permissions for it and it will work fine. Plenty of us are using it without any issue. What do you mean by "only shows calling icon on top of the screen". That sounds like the google dialer which is what it is supposed to do and not take up the entire screen.
I don't know, it just wont work properly on my device, i did all what you said above and restarted the device and still.. i only get the icon on the notification bar at the top of the screen when call enters.
I gave up and downloaded "Drupe" - wonderfull app really does the job well and also looks great (cost me about 4$ - worth it), better than the default HTC's app.
Thanks for the help!
You have to go into setting>application>Phone>application>Phone application, select the app you installed, then you may see the different calling screen when you call someone / receive a call. (not a football fan so installed normal v17)
