Anyone not using a case notice the ring that houses the camera lens is really easily scratched? I never set my phone down on anything but my laminate desk at work, or wood surfaces and keep it in a pocket by itself, but the ring that the phone rests on is all scuffed and scratched and is losing its black paint. The lens is totally fine, and I honestly don't care because I'm jumping in a few months for an 820 phone but wanted to know if anyone noticed this happening to their phone.
Happens to my v10. Just a few white marks that look like dead skin, but aren't.

I thought that perhaps I left a plastic cover over it or something, it looked like something was peeling off but its just the lens cover getting scuffed.
Mines the same way the black ring is getting faded, my camera lens is also cracked waiting for mid frame part to com avaliable to fix it.

Order a cheap screen protector and cut out a ring using a hole punch and a exacto knife.

Feels like aluminum to me. I placed out on my stone bathroom countertops and it makes me cringe. I try to avoid it but sometimes I'm not thinking
skinomi skin has a piece that covers the lens quite nicely. just a though. about $8 on Amazon.

Not bad, but being just a ring skin on the bezel of the lens, how well does it stay on without peeling off?
I was thinking of getting a skin and cutting it to fit the lens and under the battery cover to help keep it down and attached to the phone.

Same thing happened to me have not dropped it what so ever. Have occasionally had it in a case and in my pocket with nothing but lynt. I just noticed a scratch on the ring around camera lens today after I left from work have not set phone on anything except kitchen countertops. Called my carrier and immediately requested a replacement should get it in a few days. Man I'm a little disappointed this is supposed to be the military built phone not even my Note 4 scratched this easily especially around the camera. This can cause some real problems in the long run for this one.
Applied clear nail polish to the ring. All is well...
All these threads make me paranoid.... No problems with my soon the be 3 week old V10. Usually it's in my front pocket or resting on it's back in a case which keeps the camera raised high enough that it never touches. Depending on the situation it will sometimes go into a proper sized neoprene pouch. Hoping that Seidio comes out with a case holster combo...

Awesome idea.
Stuff like this freakin drives me insane. Mine has alot of marks on it. It's really a poor and cheap design. TBH with this and the peeling/chipping Duraskin and apparently the not more than ordinary screen and phone durability reported in some of these other threads makes me kinda just wish I had waited and got the G5. :banghead:

I haven't done it myself. The ring around the camera lens is 16.5mm but you can trim the washer down.
For a lot less money you can buy a sheet of round gold foil stickers and make disposable lens caps.

After seeing a few posts (by ocdetails and desirez_pete) I wanted to try the mod myself. Thanks to their advice, I was able to do it pretty easily in one sitting. During the process I decided to take pictures just for the sake of having some kind of record, and since I didn't see any picture-filled guide on how to do this in our forum I thought I'd provide one to help those who might have been intimidated at the thought of this DIY. It's really quite easy!
I ordered a 1' x 6" sheet of "Black M500 3D Carbon Fiber Vinyl Stripe Wrap Sheet 6in" from an eBay seller named metrorestyling. It's basically a knock-off of 3M's DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl. This sheet is enough material to do this mod for 6 battery doors.
I started by putting one edge of the battery door along one edge of a piece of paper, then outlining the rest. Next I taped the paper on the vinyl such that the straight edge of the paper was aligned with the carbon fiber weave.
{

A razor will cut the vinyl very easily. I then took off the back side of the carbon fiber vinyl, laying it sticky side up. I aligned one edge of the battery door with one edge of the vinyl and applied it starting from that side (like applying a screen protector).
It was already on really smoothly but I used heat from a hair dryer set to medium to smoothen as much as possible. One quote I read online was, "If the heat is to [sic] hot for your hands, then it’s hot enough for the vinyl."
Now this is where I should have done something better. With the excess vinyl not stuck onto the back of the batter door I immediately started cutting. I first cut it while trying to stay parallel to the battery door plane, so I can cut off excess later if necessary. While cutting I noticed it was better to cut with inward strokes, e.g., in the picture below I would move the knife down and left to avoid pulling the vinyl away from the battery door edge.
What I should have done is wrap the excess around while applying heat, followed by immediate cooling to "set" the vinyl in place around the edges. This unset vinyl along the edges gave me a little trouble later
This is what it looked like after a very, very rough cut.
This is where I realized my mistake above. I had to constantly reheat the edges to get good adhesion to the battery door edge, followed by immediate cutting. And since the adhesive film was unset, it kept accumulating on my knife, making it dull every so often
Side view:
To cut more vinyl off along the edges, I cut at an angle.
Preliminary fit was too tight, and the battery door wasn't fully pressed down. Also, my cutting was VERY sloppy on the speakerphone hole
So, I cut more.
It fit much better along all edges
And that's all there is to it! I hope this helps those who want to do this mod.
Looks good! I suggest you re-apply it a few more times and you should be able to get it perfect.
And another thing I forgot to tell you was try to stretch the vinyl over the edges while heating it to get the best adhesion but don't stretch it so that it distorts the carbon pattern. My application is still fully stuck on after 2 months
very nice!
looks good man. I'm think about doing something like it!
Thanks for this. I just bought the same sheet you bought. Hopefully it will arrive this week.
looks good, I am going to give this a try!
I did this the other day using your guide. I screwed up a little bit on the flat side by cutting off too much, so some of the door is showing, but overall I'm happy with it.

From what I've been told, the stuff comes right off when heated and residue can be removed with typical residue removal solution. If you bought the same sheet as me, you know how much more there is to use in case you want to retry it

Really nice work you have there. Does that carbon fiber give it a better feel? Or not make it so slick in your palm?
Actually after using the phone with the vinyl for 3 months I found it makes grip worse. I'm thinking of adding a layer of plastidip over it for better grip.

I bought the ballistic BC case and I love it. Except for the screen protector. It got scratched and really blurry and it really ruined the amazing quality of the infuses screen. So I applied a regular screen protector (pack of three from Walmart for 10 bucks) and popped out the built in case protector easily by pushing on the edges and then put the case back on and now I must say that I am back to liking the case. And I am most likley going to dremel off the little Red bar behind the camera because it gives my pictures a red tint to it. I was skeptical at first but now its all good.
(Edit)Does anyone else get this when they take a picture with flash?

so why do you even want a screen protector? The glass is scratch resistant and off course the screen looks so much better without it.

Because scratch resistant doesn't mean it will never get scratched. Even with just light use there are ever so slight scratch marks near the top of my phone.
I have no scratches on my screen. Even after taking a key to it lol. Anyways what i came in here for was to say i had the ballistic case and the proximity sensor part was messing with my phone. Took it back and got a refund. Gonna go back to the otterbox just because of the quality and the ease of using the buttons

heres a link where u can buy it for like half the price
http://www.thecellguru.com/Products/32675
I have the same case and I removed the built in protector not long after getting it. It just takes away from the beauty of the screen.
Are there any good ones that don't take away from the luxury of the nice screen?
I have that same case.. I love the belt clip holder. And no. I don't have that problem. And I take a good amount of pictures. I hope that dremel fixes your problems.
And as you said.. those Walmart screen protectors worked fine? There's not any give on the front part that clips in? It seems like there would be more than usual because it is a lot thinner of a protector? (for everyone that doesn't have one it's a fairly sheet thick of pllastic)
And if you are coming here thinking of getting one, I will share my experiences with you. The case is made up of a hard plastic that is a .... well let's just say it's really hard to take off. Not impossible but especially that first time. This makes battery pulls harder. Sometimes you can get around it by killing the phone by holding the power for 6 or so seconds and then hitting the volume keys at the right time but it doesn't always work. The outer layer that comes on the case is nice and bulky. If you think that you will be sticking it in your pocket with this layer you got another thing coming. It's a very sticky plastic which makes it very hard to pull out of a pocket. It works very well with the case holder though. A rather obnoxious thing is there is slits around the base layer that the case slides into. The top two and the bottom two tend to come undone very easily. They always seem to slide out which is annoying. It's doesn't exactly make it feel like the case is going to come off but annoying. The only way that you can keep it in your pocket is if you don't have that layer on which decreases the protection. It feels VERY solid when you have the extra layer on and rather secure when you don't. It's also a little rough on the hands around the edges so if you have soft girly hands then you might want to looks else wards towards a pretty smooth case. But if you are a man and work in something tough or just aren't sure where you will drop it, this is the case for you. (Have never used otterbox..). But that is NOT to say that this case is by any means perfect. I had this problem where it felt like the vibration inside the case was going to rattle the phone to pieces.. that was kind of unnerving but I got used to it after a while. Then when on vacation I hopped onto a hotel bed, my right hip landing on the bed and the hip belt holder BROKE! I wasn't very happy because I was busy and couldn't go to ATT but it would no longer hold my phone. After all these problems I took it back to ATT where they quickly traded out the case for a new one.. I had my receipt of course.. I THINK they used it? Not positive. I have had this new case for 2 or so month have jumped onto my own bed and haven't broken it. It's also worth mentioning that at ATT they mentioned something about a one-time exchange policy. one coworker to another which means I can't break it again within my one year time frame. D: This is a bummer because I went through 3 ipod touches in one year. Let's say I realized just how much water was in my life... And finally if you are still reading this thanks, I didn't mean to make it so lengthy. In conclusion, it's a good case, pricy but protects it well. It's dropped a few times and I haven't really thought twice, because it's "designed to survive life".. just don't jump on a hotel bed.

From the FAQ from Photojojo
Will these lenses fit on my phone?
Sure! These lenses really work with most phones. If the area around your camera lens is relatively flat, and you can stick the little metal ring to it, our new camera phone lenses will work on your phone, no problem!

What about my iPhone 3G/S? The back is kind of curved - will the lenses still work?
The lenses will work with the iPhone 3G/S - but not perfectly. The curve of the phone will cause the edge of the fisheye and wide angle lens to be seen in your photos. The macro lens won't have this issue. You can easily crop the edge of the lens out of your photos with your favorite photo-editing program! Photoshop app, ftw.
quoted this because of the curve question

Can I use these lenses with a case on my phone?
You totally can! As long as the case is tight against the phone it should be fine. Thicker cases may cause slight light leaks but it'll still work!

What is the size of that little ring? How many of them do I get?
The diameters of the ring are 13.06mm (outer) and 9.38mm (inner). If your phone's lens has a smaller diameter, it'll work great! Each lens comes with two iPhone 4/4S rings and two all-other-phone-compatible rings

Thanks Alot!
I will order this, if it wont work, my sister will get a gift for her Iphone
It won't work
Seriously, it won't
It probably will fit. From what I can make out it comes with an adhesive metal ring which fits over the hole for your camera. The lenses are magnetic so attach to the ring. As long as the adhesive ring fits it should be fine. I'm going to buy my girlfriend one for her sgs2 next week and will report back on whether or not it also fits the Sensation.
"Top grade aluminium"... held on by a magnet? I smell a rat.
Also, reguardless of the fact that you won't actually be using the phone to make a call whilst the lens is attached, I am curious to know the effect sticking magnets and large lumps of metal to your phone has on your signal strength.
This arrived yesterday so I thought I'd update. The piece that attaches to the phone is a small metal ring with an adhesive back. Although it fits the sgs2 much better than the Sensation, it still certainly fits the Sensation really well and doesn't feel like it would easily come off. The package came with around 7 of the metal adhesive rings so it's not a problem if one does happen to fall off. The magnets on the lenses are very strong - I think they may even be rare earth magnets - so they attach to the ring really well and feel quite sturdy when they're on. I didn't have much time to check the quality of the lenses but the macro seemed fantastic and the fish eye quite good.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy a tempered glass protector for the lens of the S6. The camera lens sticks out quite a bit, and I have my phone in my pocket with keys and other objects.
On past phones such as the Note 2 and 3, the glass has always been scratched, to the point on my Note 3 where it hindered the sensor.
I bought the full body and it came with a full camera lens and hole cover. All the other full body kits leave the hole uncovered.

I am researching a protective cover for the lens glass cover. I just had to pay $65 for a new cover, and was told at the store that this cover is very prone to breakage in the Galaxy S6. They replace them all the time. Anyone know of a clear protective cover for this?

Not quite glass but a aluminum might be a solution.

Just bought one. We'll see how it turns out. $0.99 isn't too much to lose if it sucks.
Sorry i'd post pics of it on the phone but I don't own an S6 anymore. Mine was a tiny metal ring around the camera lens. I felt safe enough to use the phone without a case with it on. The only thing is you gotta align the protector properly or it might block the camera.

Let us know how it goes. The only issue I can see happening is it impacting picture quality / focus / etc, but I'm sure it has been at least slightly tested before they made it

I'm sure it'll only be a month or two until it arrives. Hopefully won't get lost in the shuffle, moving soon
Unless it's super thick and gaudy, I'm sure it'll be awesome.
I will let you know and try to post pics too. Might have to get fancy with the mirror...
Is there anything for the heartbeat sensor/flash?
that thing gets scratched AF, mines soooo full of scratches already

I doubt it. You could just get a cheap $1 screen protector for any old phone from ebay (not an anti-glare one) and cut it to fit, however you risk losing some functionality of the heart sensor if it is obstructed.
Alright. Finally got the thing in the mail. I use the Ringke slim case and the Nillkin glass screen protector, and I am very happy with the look and feel of the coverage and protection. Adding this thing on was a bit of a disappointment, Without the case, it is like wearing a ten gallon hat on your knee. Painfully obvious. It sticks out and leaves a gap between it and the phone. With the case on, it isn't so bad. It stays beneath the lens protecting "bump" of the case and it doesn't interfere with photos. I have ttached pics with and without the case to illustrate my thoughts on it.

As we all know, the camera lense is not the strongest one around and it needs a cover or protector of some kind. I'm wondering if there is such a thing available anywhere, or any other alternatives on how to protect the lens? Thanks!
right on time. http://www.4tified.com/devices-1/
mine didnt come with one though.. i ordered/received mine like 3 weeks ago? not a big deal since my camera bezel scratches arent too noticeable.
oh and that military green does look badass.

Looks great but I'm having trouble sorting out exactly what this "Camera lens bezel skin" does. This covers the lens bezel. Is the idea that it keep the round back circle around the lens (the bezel) from scratching or does it also offer some protection to the camera lens itself? Thanks.
Im guessing the area around the camera glass. A lot of people have been noticing how easy it is forbthat area to get scuffed up. But i would think this would also help a little with the actual camera lens from getting scratched since the skin would prob lift it off any flat surface a little.

That sounds right, thanks.
But this doesn't cover the lens (only the bezel), which is what the OP was asking about. Are there any products out there that protect the lens.

Yeah lol. I just re-read the op. I guess I had it in my mind the outter bezel is what he was referring to since I've seen more people complain about that area.
Only thing I've seen is this. The reason lens protection is so hard to come by is because it can obscure pictures. Especially anything with an adhesive back (like the one i linked). The residue can cause images to look "hazy" especially in low light situations.
My lens glass has cracked on both my G4 and my V10 and I blame the poor design of having it protrude from the rest of the back. It should have been the opposite. Unfortunately this causes very ugly light streaks in dim settings when taking a picture. The only thing I've found to remedy this by buying a replacement which was surprisingly cheap. $10. However, the auto-focus and macro capabilities never seem to be the same afterwards. Sigh.

I replaced my lens and don't have any issues with auto focus or macros. I did before the replacement but not after.
My glass lens protector and a few spares.

Hello,
I am just about to order an H961N from Ebay and since my main priority for it will be it's camera, I intend to protect it using a PDair leather Flip Case.
http://www.pdair.com/index.php/lg-v10-flip-wallet-case.html
As you will see this case fully protects the rear of the camera but still allows it to be used in a hurry when required.
Having used one of these on my Nokia N8 for the last 5 years (yes really!), I know it is both well made and effective. My N8 still looks like new and takes good photos
albeit not now up to V10 standards.

Someone mentioned the poor quality and the size of the protector(too small).

I can't find anything about the poor quality, being too small is not about quality, the buyer just got the protector from the wrong seller, I got 2 set from two different seller, one being too small, I think the seller just wanted to sell them and sold it as a V10, the second set is the correct size, fit's exactly within the size of the V10 lens.
have anyone tried this one? a little expensive i guess http://www.amazon.com/Martin-Fields-Overlay-Screen-Protector/dp/B0198T4AA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463978276&sr=8-1&keywords=lg+v10+camera+protector
Just get an Obliq case. It's very functional, looks super cool and is just high enough to protect the bezel without obstructing the camera function
eh, it looks like it would have no real protction. i dropped my gs5 and broke the glass that covered the lense. i would love to have some kind of extra glass screen to go over it.
