According to WhatsApp FAQ - How do I save my chat history?
Here is some technical information about your backup
1. Backup files are saved in the ‘ wa’ folder and are called MsgStore.bak .
2. Backup files are saved to both your phone’s internal memory and SD card, but only given that there’s
enough space .
Since you referred to Google Drive, I assume you have an Android phone. The FAQ for Android is at
WhatsApp FAQ - How do I save my chat history? and it states:
Your WhatsApp chats are automatically backed up and saved daily on your phone's memory. Depending on your settings, you can also periodically backup your WhatsApp chats to your Google Drive .
The iPhone app saves the backups to iCloud, of course, but I could not find the file for my backup. Perhaps it is a hidden file. The file is only readable by WhatsApp. If you want to export your chats to a text file, you can email them to yourself. In that case, use the Email chat feature

The Whatsapp folder is hidden, so don't expect to actually see it on Google Drive. But it's there. The thing, at least for me, is that the version of WA i get from Google Play doesn't have the Drive feature, so I have to download it directly from their website AND disable automatic updates (as of now, version number is higher on Play than on the website).
If you install a Drive-enabled version of WA, it will restore your Drive backup. Unfortunately, I don't know whether this feature disparity is universal or not.

So how to do it please tell me

try in whatsapp choosing Settings and then tapping on Chats and calls . Choose Chat backup to access the Google Drive options, and edit the various options...... have u tried this??? if u dont see these options try to update whatsapp over aptoid app store (search aptoid apk on google if u dont hv it) there is always never version than play store... try this

This will definatly work..
you need to use the same phone number and Google account used to create the back up. Then, follow these steps to restore your backup:
1. Make sure the same Google account that was used to perform the backup has been added to your phone.
2. Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.
3. After verifying your number, you will be prompted to restore your messages and media from Google Drive.
4. After the restoration process is complete, tap on Next and your chats will be displayed once initialization is complete.
5. After restoring your chats, WhatsApp will begin restoring your media files.

[Q] Apps Backup

Hello folks !
Would anyone please help me out. I have two Questions.
1. I usually keep on switching from one rom to another. This is my only phone and hence would like to have my data in one place. I was using Titanium backup until recently but then I've read multiple times that restoring apps Using TI backup causes problems. Is it true ? and if yes then what other alternative is there so that I can backup my Apps with data ?
2. The contacts on my google account are not synced and during initial phone setup, the google contacts are restored. Hence the contacts are few and if I restore the vcf file which I made just before switching to another rom, the contacts get doubled, even if the names match perfectly. So i have two contacts with same picture, same name, same number which is frustrating :\ How can I delete all my contacts and then just restore the vcf file?
Thanks in advance
i don think there will be any problem using Titanium Backup. it will jst restores the app with data.. so no problem watsoever.. bt since batch restore option is not available in free version of TB, i m usng super backup.. which works similar to TB n supports batch restore.. in addition u can also back up contacts, msgs etc..
:thumbup::thumbup:
Use titanium ... it save all data
& regarding 2nd problem first delete all ur contacts..aftr tht go to contacts > display options > then uncheck all the other accounts except Phone.. that's it
:thumbup::thumbup:
if u dont mind the data going Apps backup and restore is pretty good ..and its free in the market .have all my google stuff backed up so no probs for me ..dont really care about other apps ..
Until now I have always used Titanium backup to restore the data, etc... and without problems and I have load several ROMS in the last months ( I hope Alpha 6 will be one of the last ones )
Now I'm only using Titatium backup to restore the settings/data for some applications as 4.2 roms automatically download from the play store the applications installed previously in the device.
Cheers
Thanks everyone
And yeah, how do I delete multiple contacts? :-\ there's no multi select option...

Error while restoring whatsapp messages.

I am usingSamsung Galaxy Y pro Duos. GT 5512.
To install Whatsapp+ I had to uninstall whatsapp. I am not able to install Whatsapp+ (and Yes I am installing GB variant of Whatsapp+). It shows "Application not installed".
Now when I have installed original Whatsapp. I am asked to restore from the backup. When I tap on restore, it Crashes at 84% and shows a error. I don't want to lose the backup.
PS1: I have managed to solve the crashing problem' see the solution in the posts down.
PS2: I am still unable to get Whatsapp+ installed. It says "Application not Installed. Can anybody help in this regard?
It's advised to restore to the same backed-up version of Whatsapp

Try to uninstall Whatsapp & install once again, or if you prefer to check older versions: http://whatsapp-messenger.en.uptodown.com/android/old
It it doesn't help- leave only the latest backup file + 'msgstire.db.crypt' in the 'Database' folder of whatsapp. Other option is to check if you got
several whatsapp folders stored in device's external/internal storage, and leaving the newest one

Hi,
This issue is interesting and I have been looking for options, so you can solve your problem. If the problem is the version, as sasan_blue says, you can go to the Aptoide web, and search the old versions of whatsapp there. I was able of download different versions of whatsapp on my PC from that web.
I can't paste urls...
EDITED: Sorry, I was writing this thread while amirTor gives his answer. The English is not my language mother and take long to write. I think is best the amirTor solution.

Thanks Guys. I got it solved by completely uninstalling whatsapp using Titanium backup app, and installing it again. It was a problem of incomplete uninstallation. (I had rebooted the device before the uninstall process finished). The problem persisted because I have been uninstalling using regular method. Also it was not a problem of a corrupted backup in my case( as I had thought).
PS. I had installed an older version too. It asked me to check my date settings. it didn't peroceed any further. I guess it was becoz of the outdated version.
HI, i have installed and rstored whatsapp a million times or so, when flashing and switching between roms. last night i tried something funny, and it cost me tooo much.
I tried to install whatsapp for another number(my phone is dual sim), while sms verification was happening, it got registered via my previously registered whatsapp no. Now even after i deleted the new no. account,i am still not able to get my old account back. when i give my old number, it doesn ask for sms verification, and goes to local backup directly, but fails there and throws error. on the other hand, i can verify the account, but cannot restore all my messages.
Please help, as my msgs are quite important..!
il hit the thanks button..!

You can solve this problem by registering your new number again and restoring your old number's chats.
Once you are able to restore your old number's chat by registering on the new number. You can now change the number officially by using the 'change number' feature in the WA settings.
See if this trick works for you.
Good luck.

Hey thanks for the response,
Things arent way the its supposed to...even if im trying to sign up using another account, still the verification is not being done and whern restoring is trying to happen, it force closes or shows a message that it cannot restore msgs in the server
if u know any solution please let me know, its pretty annoying without whatsapp for a week and i need those old messages..its pretty important.
I have done flashing roms a 100 times and never faced this issues, and now it aint going at all..
Ok. copy the backup database some where safe.
Delete your new number account ( from within the WA account settings)
Remove the WA using titanium backup. (you need to be rooted for TB to work)
Reinstall the WA.
See if you are able to register your new number.
Use WhatsApp recovery app to restore you account information, the tool is available free of cost.
If no chats are being restored while reinstalling Whatsapp and you want to restore from a local backup... Try to uninstall and reinstall Whatapp and simply take a local backup of the empty chats and copy the entire filename (Ex: msgstore.db.crypt12) and delete this backup file.. Now paste the backup file from where you want to restore the chats in the Whatsapp databases folder and rename it with the name that was copied from latest backup file (msgstore.db.crypt12).
Clear WhatsApp data (from Settings -> Apps-> WhatsApp-> Clear Data). When you launch Whatsapp now, it will prompt again for the verification details etc. Skip the google drive step and Whatsapp will restore all your chats from your desired local backup. But please make sure you have lot of free space on your device. I cleared about 3gb of data from device memory in order to get this working.
It worked for me when I finally was about to give up after trying for 3 days..

app_download_internal
app_minidumps
app_textures
app_webview
cache
code_cache
databases

lib

shaders
shared_prefs
is there any log to check the error messages?
thank you.

PS1. Erasing some directories, now i can get the 97%
unable to restore whatsapp messages
i switched to a new phone. I copied whatsapp folders- Databasse and media to the laptop. The database file has correct name as suggested by whatsapp faq- msgstore.db.crypt and it is version 12 only. But when i install whatsapp it does not take that local backup and asks to check google drive. I don't have backu on google drive. Later i tried new idea- I disconnected internet after verifification of mobile number and yes so it prompted - >backup found- Restore> i tapped restore, but still my chats didn't backedup, the restore processing also did not took lace, i turned on internet after tapping restore. what's the matter? please help. I have some really important stuff. You all are tech enthusiast here. i hope you can help me in this minor problem. I have local Backup, i have mobile, i have aplication. What else is needed??

[Guide] Noobs guide to use Titanium Backup for backup and restore of apps.

This is a noobs Guide to how to use Titanium Backup .
Many of the users might have heard of a app named Titanium Backup. Its the most used app in the Android Market who frequently flash ROMS and for those who doesnt want to download all apps again and again from Store after flashing new ROMS.
What is Titanium Backup?
Titanium Backup is an app which can backup all your app+data in just one click(Even system apps but not recommened). Can delete system apps, convert system apps to user apps.
So how to use.
Note: Your phone must be rooted and USB debugging should be on which is present in developer options while installing.
Lets start with first thing you see after installation.
If you face a root acces failure then tap on option button of your phone scroll down tap on reload application.
You will see 3 tabs:
1.Overview
2.Backup/Restore
3.Schedule
Overview will give you the short details of your root device and memory.
Like Root access. Data profile(Used to set any filters for a app). Memory details of your partitions and usage.
Backup/Restore will show the details of the apps installed in you phone.
You will see different type of apps highlighted in different colors
White: The apps you installed
Red: System apps which can be converted to system apps.
Yellow: Most important system apps which can not be moved(Dont uninstall or else you need to reflash your rom again).
Schedules sets a time for backup.
You can set the type of backup you want at a particular time.
Those who frequently change roms check the 4th post for restore and backup.
Backup specific app
Here comes the real use of Titanium Backup. The backup/Restore Part.
Here you will see the list of apps installed in your phone.
First lets see how to backup a single app.
Now tap on the app.
You will see two tabs
1.Backup Properties
2.Special Properties
1.Backup Properties
a. Backup : This will backup your selected app as app+data.
b. Freeze : This will disable the app.
Rest of the things you know from the name
When backup is complete again tap on the app you took backup. You will see a tab Restore and delete of the app.
Select restore you will see 3 options App+Data, App Only , Data Only
App+Data will restore apk as well as data(Data consists of settings, login info in short user defined settings and all you made for that app)
App will restore app only. Data will restore data only.
2.Special Properties
It is made of 4 sections:
1. General
2. Play store/ Market
3. Storage
4. System ROM.
1General Section is easily understandable.(I hope You can)
In general section there is a option named " Send latest backup" you can send to other phone or store it locally and restore(Check 4th post). The backup is stored in .TiBkp
2. Playstore/Market shows the links of the app in playstore.
3. Storage Section is also understanable. In explore it shows the files it uses and the location of files where it is installed with DB)
4. System ROM section can be used to convert a user application app to system app.
In some app you will see "Force remove app" I would suggest dont click on it.
User app is shown in white after you convert it in system app it will become red.
Schedule
Backup all user apps at one click.
There are two ways to backup data.
1st through schedule.
2nd through advanced option(Check the 4th post)
In schedule tab you will see two schedule as default
1. Redo backups for modified data
2. Backup new user apps & newer versions
1.Redo backups for modified data.
What it does is takes the backup of new data of all user apps(Like whatsapp chats, new user settings etc).
2. Backup new user apps & newer versions
This schedule automatically backups the newer versions(Updated version) at a given schedule time.
If you want you can manually run the schedules by just clicking on run. Titanium backup will be minimized. The progress can be seen in notification drawer. After completion it will vibrate.
So now you have taken the backup of all your apps through just one click.
You can add new schedule as you want.
Restore and backup all apps at once and restore your apps from previous roms \.
This is the most advanced part of Titanium Backup.
After installing new rom you will see a warning showing change in android device ID. Details are given in warning messsage.
Now click the option button of you phone.
You will see 7 sections:
1.General
2.Play store/Market
3.Storage
4.Import/Export
5.Special Backup/Restore
6.Your Device
7.Special Features
1.General section there 4 options:
1 Filters: This section filters the apps you want to see. If you want to see only user apps select only User. The change can be seen in backup/Restore Tab. As you have selected user apps you will see all the apps in white.
2. Batch Restore: This section should be used properly. This section restores app+data in just one click.
This is distributed in 10 sections:
1. Verify Backup: Verifys backup.
2. Backup: Select the type of backup: Use the 1st one "Backup all user apps" Dont backup system data as it will create conflict in new rom when you restore it.
When you select this option all your user apps will be displayed.
3.Restore: This option will restore all backups.
When you select the 2nd option "Restore all apps with data". In top you will see three options App+Data, App only, Data Only.
If you dont want to restore a particular just untick that app and it will not be installed.
If you find that some apps are not restore just select the 1st option " Restore missing apps with data". It will show the list of unrestored apps.
4. Move/ Integrate: This section moves apps to sd card or from sd card to internel. Dont RUN the 3rd option "Integrate updates" As it will create a conflict.
5. Freeze/ Defrost: This section disables the apps.
6. Android Market: Links for the user apps.
7. Manipulate data: This section clears data of all user apps at once. Rest i didnt use so cant tell(Last 3 option).
8. Recovery mode: In this section you can create a update.zip of all your apps which can be flashed through recovery.
9. Uninstall: Will uninstall all your apps at once.
10. Delete Backups : This section will delete all the backup at once.
2. Play store /Market: This section consists of links of apps to the playstore.
3. Storage: In this 1st option shows the usage of the apps. Rest leave untouched.
4. Import: This will import the backups done by Titanium backup of a particular app (Check 2nd Post how to export a app)
5.Special Backup / Restore:
5.1 Backup data to xml : This section backup your msgs, call logs , wifi password.
5.2 Restore data from xml : This section will restore msgs, call logs , wifi password.
5.3 Extract from Nandroid backup : This section will restore app from the backup of your ROM made through recovery.
5.4 Extract from ADB Backup: Haven't used this feature so cant tell
6. Your Device: Reboot and Manage Android ID.
7. Special Feature:
It creates a update.zip of itself(Titanium Backup) which can be flashed through recovery.(Install Zipsigner from store to create update.zip)
Reload Application: Will Reload the app.
So finally you have restored all your apps. If you have missed an app to restore but dont want to take long process to restore just go to backup/restore tab. Scroll Down. You will see that particular app in strike through. Tap on that app. Select restore.
The backups are stored in sdcard in a folder named "Titanium Backup". Dont delete this folder or else you will lose all your backed up apps.
Future
For future use.
Thank you. I've heard of Titanium Backup but never used it. Does backing up use a lot of data?

It is safe but make a backup first then remove it. As this are system apps I won't recommend to remove it cz this apps could be associated with other apps which may not work properly if you remove them..

Unable to Restore APKs
Hi all. Hopefully someone can tell me how dense I am for not being able to solve this problem (or whether it's a problem at all). I have an Asus TF700 and recently changed from a stock-based jb custom rom to a cyanogenmod-based kk custom rom. On the old rom I ran the batch bakup all user apps filter, wiped tab from recovery, then installed new rom. TB was already installed on new rom so I just opened it, granted su, enabled USB debugging, and went to batch restore option. All of my app data is available for restore but none of the downloaded user apks themselves are backed up. When I open up the backup properties display for each app it shows Has App: No, Has Data: Yes. I was hoping to batch restore all user apps + data but the only way I can do it now is to install each app individually from the Play Store and then batch restore the data. This has the potential to be a very long process. I don't know if I made a mistake during TB backup or if my new rom/wipe is the problem. I'm hoping someone can point out to me where I went wrong. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi, @a-t0m as you are describing your problem.. I think you are not selecting the proper option..
When you open TB you will see a tab called schedule..

Hi, wondering if anyone may have a suggestion. I'm not getting any action restoring a backed up User Dictionary with TB. It seems to create the backup but not restore it. Tried both data and app+data and reboots but still no action. HTC One rooted ARHD 71.1 (4.4.2)

Well you can try is manually take backup..
How? tap on your dictionary app take a backup..
Now restore that only.. See if that helps..
Data not restored?? Tap on the app again.. tap on wipe data.. Now restore data only not app+data or app only..

Yes, it is. These are bloatware, not required by the system to run.
Cloud sync
I have the full version of TIBackup and used the sync feature to have a copy of my backups in my Google Drive account (manual sync, I lauch it every now and then or just when I want to backup a particular app), what does it happen if I want to cancel them from my phone memory (a nexus 5, if it matters)? next time I make a backup and I give the sync command, will it delete those backup files from my cloud too?
I want to keep them only in my google Drive account.
I have been having issues with Titanium for long time across multiple roms. I have pro version. I have it set to keep 3 latest backups and to restore titanium settings automatically. However, when I do a clean install of a rom and I try to restore apps manually the restore button is missing. It shows the date the backup was created and the delete button is on the right but there is no restore button on the left. I can restore backups from Nandroid using Titanium but this takes forever and the backups are not as fresh.
Any help would be a lifesaver!

How to recover lost conversation for WhatsApp?

Hello experts, I need a help to recover lost chat for WhatsApp.
Recently, I have backup the chat using the settings in the application(WhatsApp) but not in the Google Drive.
And I clear the data from the device settings to use the application with another number.
By mistake, I pressed the "RESTORE" option while I am creating the account with another number. But the application didn't restore any single chats from the previous number.
After this, I have cleared the data and creating the account with the previous number that has used in the backup. And it didn't restore any messages.
After all I have reset my device.
I can't find single chat.
And I am still using WhatsApp to connect with the people.
I am using "Galaxy Grand Duos 1" (GTI9082) uprooted,
with Android 4.2.2
I will appreciate anyone who could help me to recover the previous chats with the valid methods.
Thank you.
Hello, In file manager go to >whatsapp folder > database folder, what can you see there ?
In this folder I find some files with the names
"msgstore-YEAR-MONTH-DATE.1"

yes, that one can be used to restore your messages
Your phone will store up to the last 7 days worth of local backup files (Google Drive will only have the most recent one). If you wish to restore a local backup which is not the most recent one, you will need to do the following:
In the file manager app, navigate to sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If your data is not stored on the SD card, you may see "internal storage" or "main storage" instead of sdcard.
Rename the backup file you wish to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. It is possible that an earlier backup may be on an earlier protocol, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Do not change the number of the crypt extension.
Uninstall WhatsApp
Disconnect your phone from your Gmail so whatsapp wont restore online
Install WhatsApp.
Tap Restore when asked.
This will get you back the messages since that date
Relogin to your gmail when done.
Thanks for the methods. Sorry, the files are of the new chats. Not of the things I would like to recover. What I want to recover is older than a week and my device has gone reset.
Please check my post again.

restoring any backup from these will restore also the previous chats in it
lets say you restored Nov 19 2017 backup
every chat before that date will be restored
I mean my device has "hard reset" without making backup i.e. format

Sir, thank you for your help. It doesn't restore my chats of before the reset. And some of today's messages are also gone. If I could find a valid way, I would be happy.

You can go into system files for WhatsApp on the previous device and find the stored chat data & phone clone/Bluetooth the file across and then on the HMS device you can move the file to the exact same place you found it on the old device, That then allows the back up to be restored.
