When you are able to get a recovery on the device.. S4 was the same until about two weeks ago when they were able to get root again.

We have safestrap recovery for verizon gs5

[Q] sprint S4 root

I have a Sprint S4 SPL-L720 It's 7 months old.
Build: KOT 49H L720VPUFNG2
Security software Ver. MDF v1.0 release 2
Firmware 4 4 2
Iv'e tried all mod strings with towel root with no luck. Is there anything current to root this phone. Iv'e looked at some videos but they are from 2013. Anything new going on? Thanks for any help.

Towelroot is fairly simple.
Install the APK and click the make it ra1n button.

It won't work yet. The bootloader rejects it or twrp 3.0 doesn't support 6.0.1 s6 bootloader yet.

Nope. But You can flash chainfire's 2.8(or 2.7, don't remember) twrp that works if You reboot to recovery with Quick Boot app.

Flash it through odin like any other recovery. Unfortunately I'm also looking for the download link cause I updated to 3.0 . It's somewhere on xda.

If someone wothout out root will test this kernel and see if it roots your device it would be appreciated! As for those that already have root this will certainly work for you.

Odin TWRP 3.0.0-0 -> go into recovery and flash -> Boot into System. If it doesn't get stuck into boot loop then you should be rooted.

OK did all that. Twrp flashed fine. The kernel flashed fine too but no root. Bummer.

You will have to unroot and flash stock pb1 to flash this then. If you don't want to unroot, wait until I finish my KeepRoot upgrade package

No, the boot loader isn't locked. I don't understand this dm-verity yet. But, the 3.1 dm-verity flashable will let you boot after flashing a ROM.

I actually had to flash before and after flashing ROM. Again, still playing with stock firmware, I can boot it knox free, bloat free, but no root yet.
