I not long got a new samsung galaxy s 2. iv rooted and overclocked. it was all working well for a week but now none of my rooted apps can acces root and my superuser tells me...
AN ERROW OCCURED AND SU WAS NOT UPDATED - A ZIP FILE (SU-2.3.1-BIN-SIGNED ZIP) HAS BEEN PLACED ON YOUR SDCARD PLEASE REBOOT INTO RECOVERY MODE AND FLASH IT TO UPDATE YOUR SU.
Please someone tell me what i need to do.
If you are on a custom rom press and hold power and then press recovery. Or open rom manager and boot into recovery. If you do not have either, reboot the phone while holding both volume keys and power. Then, while in CWM recovery, use the volume rocker to navigate to "install .zip from sdcard" use power to select. Then scroll down to the zip file (SU-2.3.1-BIN-SIGNED ZIP) and select it. Then select yes to flash and watch.
Iv just finished doing that. this is what happened
E :FAILED TO SEEK IN /TMP/SIDELOAD/PACKAGE.ZIP

someone please post me an answer????????
Try doing a factory reset and then rooting again with a different root method. Use either superoneclick root or gingerbreak
Have any luck?

Rooting Micromax Funbook easiest way!!!!

This is the method to root Micromax Funbook & install CWM recovery.
1) Download the attachment funbook.rar
2) Extract it , it contains CWM recovery & CWM-SuperSU.zip two .rar files
3) Extract CWM recovery to desktop & connect your funbook via usb
4) If the device is not detected then install the ADB driver in the attachment
5) open CWM recovery run Recovery-Install.bat
it has 3 option select 1 to install CWM recovery
select 2 to reboot into recovery
select 3 to quit.
6) then move CWM-SuperSU.zip to internal sd of funbook
7) boot into CWM recovery by pressing menu button & power button simultaneously.
8) select install zip from internal sd card & select the CWM-SuperSU.zip & press power button, select yes to continue.
now you are Rooted
Before installing any custom rom perform a NANDROID backup.
This method is successfully tested by me however use this at your own risk!
How exactly is CWM recovery supposed to be installed on the tablet?
just run the Recovery-Install.bat with micromax funbook connected & ADB driver installed on your computer, it will autometically install CWM recovery on your funbook.
Funbook is Pre-Rooted. No Need to root it again.
Thank You

For all having problems in installing I found this on thinkk digit forums... Maybe this will help you:
INSTALLING CUSTOM RECOVERY
1. Download CWM Recovery 5 ICS.zip
2. Extract it.
These are the requirements fo Flash CWM...
- tablet must be running Android ICS version (4.0.x)
- tablet must have Superuser installed with SU binary loaded
- tablet must have Debugging enabled (ADB drivers included)
Your Funbook is Pre-Rooted, so we'll just proceed with installing Superuser App from Market
3. Go to Play Store and download Superuser.
4. Go to Superuser App > Settings > Su Binary > Install the Binary
5. Reboot.
Now we'll enable USB Debugging
6. Go to Settings > Developer Options > Turn On USB Debugging.
Now we'll increase the screen timeout to prevent screen from getting turned off in the middle of these procedures
7. Go to Settings > Display > Select Never at Sleep.
8. So now connect the USB Cable to your PC and Funbook and you should see USB Debugging Connected notification.
At this point, if this is your first time, you may see Windows trying to find Drivers which will fail ofcourse. Go to Device Management [Press Windows Key + R > Type devmgmt.msc] > Right Click on Unknown Devices > Update Driver Software > Browse My Computer for Driver Software > Both 64bit [Drivers-AllwinnerA10-64bits] and 32bit [Drivers-AllwinnerA10-32bits] Drivers are provided there within a folder named ADB_Drivers under the Recovery Package, so just browse them according to your OS Specification. A screen may appear up saying "The Publisher of this Driver could not be verified", just ignore that and "Continue Anyway".
9. DO NOT TURN ON USB STORAGE. LEAVE IT AS IT IS.
Time to install CWM. There are two methods. One is easy, by running a script and another is using ADB by typing commands. You'll get an _Instructions.txt there which lists both the methods in case you want to try out the 2nd method. Here I'll only cover the easy one i.e. using Script.
10. Run recovery-install.bat [Windows] / recovery-install.sh [Linux] and press any key and just wait and watch the show
11. Within few mins recovery will be installed.
To reboot in Recovery Mode -> Press Options Key and by keeping it pressed, Press Power Key. Release Power Key and then Release Options Key.
12. Reboot.

HAVING PROBLEM WHILE INSTALLING CWM?? GETTING PERMISSION DENIED ERROR??
Ok, for those who cannot install CWM from the normal steps(most probably new funbook users having Base 1.2 and ICS 4.0.3) follow these steps.
1. Install Superuser from playstore, update binary, you'll notice it will fail one part(red text), re do the update 2,3 times staright away until all the text become green, no need to reboot phone, but you might want to.
2. Install Android terminal from playstore, in terminal put su and press enter, if you get a warning allow it, if # comes you have root access. If not, re do step one. Don't continue till you get this step correct.
3. Download ES File manager from playstore, go to settings, allow all root access related options and also tick go upto root option.
4. Now start ES file manager, go to root, long press the dev folder, set properties, check all boxes, click ok. Do the same for the data folder, now open the dev folder, and repeat the steps for the block folder, and inside the block folder do the steaps for nandg file.
5. Allow USB debugging from dev options, connect the cable, install drvers.
6. Run the ICS recovery script, wait for it to finish, if it fails then you need to check and set permission again, if all goes well you have successfully installed CWM.
Warning: When setting permissions in ES File Manager make sure the USB cable is not attached, if so it might cause a hard crash and brick the device.
I had used this method to flash CWM on mine and on my friends device, both Base 1.2 and ICS 4.0.3(made in may 2012, the rom build no is: 97F1-D1-H2-H01-MMX.20120512) hence I think funbooks made after may 2012 must use this method, otherwise the script will fails due to permission denial.

Hey! there buddy..
For rooting have you tried the farmaroot app?? i've used it two times n that too with a success
Rooting:
Note:Rooting voids the warranty of the device...proceed at your own will!!
1.Download the farmaroot apk from the attachments. (present at the end of the post)
2.copy it to your device and install it. Note:Make sure u have unknown sources checked in your app settings in your device. If so proceed to step 3.
3.launch farmaroot and click install super SU.
4.Choose an exploit (for ex:Boromir)Note:if root fails, select another exploit from the dropdown and try again.
5.If It is successfull a message will popup saying "Success, installed superuser restart device".
6.Reboot the device..and woola!! ur phone is rooted.
100% success is not promised!!
Possible Cases --->
1."Success ... Superuser and su binary installed. You have to reboot your device"
2."Failed ... Exploit work but installation of Superuser and su binary have failed"
3."Half-Success :-/ ... system partition is read-only, use local.prop trick. Reboot your device and use adb to see if it run as root", happen when the filesystem in use on system partition is a read only filesystem (ex: squashfs)
4."Failed ... Try another exploit if available"
5.Framaroot crash or freeze, in this case relaunch Framaroot a second time and select the same action and exploit.
Unlocking Bootloader
And coming to unlocking bootloader...i'am making a pc soft...it wud be most probably ready by tomorrow!!...i'll post it tomorrow....install it and unlock the bootloader.. i hope you are using Windows??

HI,
I love the details in your guide.
I installed TWRP and then went into reboot > system. I then swiped to install the binary, which it did. Once it rebooted, a notification appeared for SuperSU. I click it and it said SuperSU's su binary is not present, this is a fatal error!
I would appreciate any further help

Did you update superSU app from playstore, and made it update it's root binary?
TWRP adds a basic root binary that enable the latest superSU app to install it's fully working root binary.
Hi, thanks for your quick reply.
I clicked notification which opened the supersu installer. It then said "SuperSU's su binary is not present, this is a fatal error!"
I then clicked OK and the application closed.
Reopening the app still gives the same message

Update superSU manually from playstore, it should tell you if superSU binary isn't installed and might offer you an option to install it uaing TWRP, you can go for this method, or you can try repeating the post method again, as TWRP will ask you agian to root if the root binary wasn't installed. However don't worry, rooting using TWRP sometimes mistakenly miss somethings which cause to fail, but repeating the process will solve it..

SuperSU updated automatically, I did try after it updated and I did try re-rooting from TWRP. It rebooted after I clicked system under reboot section. I saw a previous comment about mounting the system partition. I mounted it and reboot, but it was no longer mounted after rebooting (by clicking reboot then recovery in TWRP). I then tried mounting without rebooting, this produced the same outcome. The phone reboots normally into the os. I also tried using SuperSU to fully unroot. I then tried TWRP again (both without mounting system partition and with mounting system partition). The phone still reboot into the OS. I do believe that I could restart from the beginning if I was able to uninstall SuperSU, but I can't as it was installed as a system app by TWRP.
I appreciate your help and hope you can find a way to make this work.

Hey crackpot360,
Open settings, scroll to the bottom and tap "About device", then tap build number until you unlock developer options.
Now open "Developer options" (above "About device") and scroll down to "root access". Change it to the "apps" setting.
Now, when an app requests superuser permissions it will ask you just as any other superuser app would. You can also choose to allow permanently.
When an app uses superuser it will show a "#" symbol in the Status bar.
To revoke permissions in the future, open the privacy settings, tap "Privacy guard", then tap the menu button at the top and select "Advanced". Then scroll all the way to the right to control the superuser access of apps.
I hope this helps
A thanks would be great

OK thanks for the reply first of all,
secondly, Ive already solved the problem by flashing supersu through recovery and updating binaries for it, but now my question is, should i follow through with your steps or just let it be? because everything as of right now is working fine.
Thanks again.
Is there any way to remove "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing" on the top of the screen on boot splash? I have already installed TWRP and flashed Lineage on it. Phone boots and works just as expected, it is just that little detail that bugs me.

I have the same problem. Can you tell me how to mount my system partition?
I went to mount, then i checked system and clicked the internal storage. After that i went to system=>reboot but it just rebooted. It didn't asked me whether or not my phone is rooted!!
For those who want to root their Samsung Galaxy phone, I recommended to use the TWRP method. Hell man I tried the pre-rooted rom but it mess up my phone like it stop and stuck at samsung logo after rebooting for indefinite time. Luckily though I fix it just installing the Stock ROM. Then use the TWRP method to root my phone. Now it is rooted and updated and working fine. BTW, if the SuperSU asking for installation by Google Play Market or TWRP, use the TWRP because SuperSU is not available in store. It will download the binary of supersu and it will go to twrp recovery and just swipe it and it will install after that it will reboot. After that your phone will be rooted. Just download some root checker app in playstore to see if it is totally rooted. That's it, thanks.
