This is the method to root Micromax Funbook & install CWM recovery.
1) Download the attachment funbook.rar
2) Extract it , it contains CWM recovery & CWM-SuperSU.zip two .rar files
3) Extract CWM recovery to desktop & connect your funbook via usb
4) If the device is not detected then install the ADB driver in the attachment
5) open CWM recovery run Recovery-Install.bat
it has 3 option select 1 to install CWM recovery
select 2 to reboot into recovery
select 3 to quit.
6) then move CWM-SuperSU.zip to internal sd of funbook
7) boot into CWM recovery by pressing menu button & power button simultaneously.
8) select install zip from internal sd card & select the CWM-SuperSU.zip & press power button, select yes to continue.
now you are Rooted
Before installing any custom rom perform a NANDROID backup.
This method is successfully tested by me however use this at your own risk!
How exactly is CWM recovery supposed to be installed on the tablet?
just run the Recovery-Install.bat with micromax funbook connected & ADB driver installed on your computer, it will autometically install CWM recovery on your funbook.
Funbook is Pre-Rooted. No Need to root it again.
Thank You

For all having problems in installing I found this on thinkk digit forums... Maybe this will help you:
INSTALLING CUSTOM RECOVERY
1. Download CWM Recovery 5 ICS.zip
2. Extract it.
These are the requirements fo Flash CWM...
- tablet must be running Android ICS version (4.0.x)
- tablet must have Superuser installed with SU binary loaded
- tablet must have Debugging enabled (ADB drivers included)
Your Funbook is Pre-Rooted, so we'll just proceed with installing Superuser App from Market
3. Go to Play Store and download Superuser.
4. Go to Superuser App > Settings > Su Binary > Install the Binary
5. Reboot.
Now we'll enable USB Debugging
6. Go to Settings > Developer Options > Turn On USB Debugging.
Now we'll increase the screen timeout to prevent screen from getting turned off in the middle of these procedures
7. Go to Settings > Display > Select Never at Sleep.
8. So now connect the USB Cable to your PC and Funbook and you should see USB Debugging Connected notification.
At this point, if this is your first time, you may see Windows trying to find Drivers which will fail ofcourse. Go to Device Management [Press Windows Key + R > Type devmgmt.msc] > Right Click on Unknown Devices > Update Driver Software > Browse My Computer for Driver Software > Both 64bit [Drivers-AllwinnerA10-64bits] and 32bit [Drivers-AllwinnerA10-32bits] Drivers are provided there within a folder named ADB_Drivers under the Recovery Package, so just browse them according to your OS Specification. A screen may appear up saying "The Publisher of this Driver could not be verified", just ignore that and "Continue Anyway".
9. DO NOT TURN ON USB STORAGE. LEAVE IT AS IT IS.
Time to install CWM. There are two methods. One is easy, by running a script and another is using ADB by typing commands. You'll get an _Instructions.txt there which lists both the methods in case you want to try out the 2nd method. Here I'll only cover the easy one i.e. using Script.
10. Run recovery-install.bat [Windows] / recovery-install.sh [Linux] and press any key and just wait and watch the show
11. Within few mins recovery will be installed.
To reboot in Recovery Mode -> Press Options Key and by keeping it pressed, Press Power Key. Release Power Key and then Release Options Key.
12. Reboot.

HAVING PROBLEM WHILE INSTALLING CWM?? GETTING PERMISSION DENIED ERROR??
Ok, for those who cannot install CWM from the normal steps(most probably new funbook users having Base 1.2 and ICS 4.0.3) follow these steps.
1. Install Superuser from playstore, update binary, you'll notice it will fail one part(red text), re do the update 2,3 times staright away until all the text become green, no need to reboot phone, but you might want to.
2. Install Android terminal from playstore, in terminal put su and press enter, if you get a warning allow it, if # comes you have root access. If not, re do step one. Don't continue till you get this step correct.
3. Download ES File manager from playstore, go to settings, allow all root access related options and also tick go upto root option.
4. Now start ES file manager, go to root, long press the dev folder, set properties, check all boxes, click ok. Do the same for the data folder, now open the dev folder, and repeat the steps for the block folder, and inside the block folder do the steaps for nandg file.
5. Allow USB debugging from dev options, connect the cable, install drvers.
6. Run the ICS recovery script, wait for it to finish, if it fails then you need to check and set permission again, if all goes well you have successfully installed CWM.
Warning: When setting permissions in ES File Manager make sure the USB cable is not attached, if so it might cause a hard crash and brick the device.
I had used this method to flash CWM on mine and on my friends device, both Base 1.2 and ICS 4.0.3(made in may 2012, the rom build no is: 97F1-D1-H2-H01-MMX.20120512) hence I think funbooks made after may 2012 must use this method, otherwise the script will fails due to permission denial.

You are on a custom ROM. Custom roms usually are rooted. So you shouldn't need to root.
Some custom roms have root access disabled by default and you can enable it by going into developer options.
Settings -> Developer options -> Root access. Select Apps and ADB.
If you do not see Developer options, enable it first.
Go to Settings -> About phone -> and tap on build number until you see the message that you are now a developer. (7-8 times)
You also clearly have a custom recovery if you are using a custom rom, so you can also flash SuperSu from recovery for example.

Are you sure it isn't rooted? I assume you have tried RootChecker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en) app.
If it says you are not rooted, you could try one more thing.
Go into custom recovery and flash the latest SuperSU.zip. This will definitely work,

Last week I rooted my J7 2016 without problem. I installed TRRP 3.1.1-0 (j7xelte) with ODIN 3.12.3 and flashed the latest SuperSU v2.82 Zip. I then reflashed a stock ROM because I needed an official system for my banking app. After I installed the app on my old Xperia E1 I tried to root my J7 again but it doesn't work anymore. Stock rom used: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ssp/SM-J710FN/XEF/download/J710FXXU3AQF8/187083/ (updated to Android 7.0 with system update)
The problem is that I'm getting a black screen after the boot logo with the message "Verification Failed. Unable to restart your device. The Integrity verification has failed. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all your data." on it with a "Reset" option below it. In TWRP I also often get the errors "Unable to mount '/data' " or "Unable to mount '/storage' ", but I've seen YouTube videos where peoples phones restart no problem with the same mount errors appearing.
USB Debugging and OEM Unlock were enabled and FRP Protection disabled.
I tried the following but it doesn't work no matter what I do, and this is annoying me big time because last week it worked no problem:
- Rooting on Android 6.0.1 and 7.0
- Wipe complete system (TWRP with the "type: Yes" confirmation), TWRP factory reset wipe and individual folder wipes to remove possible Samsung encryptions.
- Reformat "data" to ext3, exFat, ext4 ... but the unable to mount option reappears.
ROOT METHODS:
1. Root guide by jcadduono (this worked last week, now it shows the "Verification Failed" error on startup)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ecovery-official-twrp-j7xelte-galaxy-t3437659
2. Root package from: https://desktop.firmware.mobi
Flashing the image only results in a red one-line "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing" message on startup and the phone boots to unrooted OS
3. Root with Magisk-v14.0 (results in TWRP error that zip flash failed)
4. Package and tutorial by The Phone Skipping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkT8kZ8hb28
5. Flashing no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip and samsung-sm-j710f-6.0.1-nodmv.tar after the "Verification Failed" error appears
6. KingRoot app rooting (Xperia E1 no problem, J7 not supported)
I'm running out of solutions and I've already spent at least 10 hours on this including an all-nighter.
Nevermind, I followed the YouTube tutorial "How To Install TWRP & Root Galaxy S7|S7 Edge" by Shark Jungle for installing everything without my external SD card and it works now.
Hello Ollion9,
I have recently bought a j710-fn (I want a removable battery). I first installed a stock rom 6.0.1 from SamMobile https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ssp/SM-J710FN/XEF/download/J710FXXU3AQF8/187083/
and I did not root it yet. A few days later I have the 7.0 system update which of course I install.
And now I want to root my phone.
Which of the "root methods" you propose is the simplest ?
I want to root my phone with my stock Samsung rom for installing AdAway & Xposed Framework.
On my previous phones I used CF Auto Root, which was great and easy to install but is not available for the j710fn.
So which method can I use knowing that my technical knowledge is very limited ?
I think I should not be using the following method because the 710fn is not in the list : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/how-to/how-to-root-twrp-install-xposed-t3328580
Thanking you in advance for your kind answer

The video I mentioned in my second post works perfectly, however the video doesn't include how to install TWRP though so here is a step by step tutorial that I've written down for myself in case I ever forget and I have to root again in the future:
1. Install ODIN and Samsung USB Drivers on PC
ODIN: https://www.odindownload.com
Drivers: http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
2. On phone, enable developer options (Settings -> About device -> Software Info -> Tap 7 times on Build number)
3. Settings -> Developer options -> OEM unlock (enable) + USB debugging (enable)
[Without OEM unlock Factory Reset Protection (FRP) will be active and the device will not (re-)boot when rooted and prevents installation of recovery software]
4. Turn off device
5. Boot into Download Mode (Volume Down + Home + Power)
6. Press Volume Up to confirm
7. Plug USB cable into phone
8. Open ODIN on PC and disable "Auto Reboot" in Options tab
[When phone is recognized the Log window should say "Added!"
9. Add "twrp-3.1.1-0-j7xelte.img.tar" to AP section of ODIN
Download here: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/j7xelte/
10. Click "Start" and wait until ODIN has finished
11. Turn off phone (remove and reinsert battery) and unplug USB cable
12. Boot into Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home + Power)
13. In TWRP swipe "Swipe to Allow Modification" to the right
14. Tap "Wipe" and then "Format Data" (confirm by typing "yes")
15. Click TWRP Home button (house)
16. Plug USB cable into phone
17. On PC copy and paste the "No Verify" and "SuperSU" zip files onto the "Internal Storage" of the phone
Downloads:
SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip
No Verify: https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
18. In TWRP tap "Install" and find the previously copied zip files
19. Tap "SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip" and swipe to flash the file (wait until the process is done)
20. Click TWRP Home button (house)
21. Tap "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip" and swipe to flash the file (wait until the process is done)
22. Tap "Reboot System" (if the phone doesn't reboot with the button swipe the "Install TWRP App" button to the right to reboot)
23. Wait for the phone to boot and go through the first installation process
24. The device is now rooted
Thank you very much for posting your step by step tutorial.
I will try it this week.
Hello Ollion9.
This method works on a Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J710FN) right?

DON'T 100% TRUST THIS YET, BECAUSE THERE IS NO CUSTOM ROM OR ANY WAY I KNOW TO ALLOW YOU TO INSTALL STOCK OS AND KEEP BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED AT THE SAME TIME. APOLOGIES. YOU CAN TRY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IF YOU WANT. I DON'T HAVE THE DEVICE TO WORK ON THIS.
--start--
Now, before you start. I feel that you need at least a VALID reason to root.
like, why do you want to root? is it for some app that requires root privileges? cause it'd be pretty useless to go
through all this without a proper reason .---. , I'm going to divide the steps into 4 Chapters (hehehe)
also the entire reason why this post exist is because I was helping a friend gain ROOT privileges cause they have an Blu grand M haha..
I don't see that many posts regarding this.. this is just to help people , if you already knew how to root your phone from the beginning then good for you.
Chapter 01: Getting prepared!
Just, WHAT are the things you need to begin rooting exactly???
well(downloads in here aswell):
a computer
a cord for your Blu Grand M
SD card

Chapter 04: Flashing SUPERSU and reboot ;D
make sure you put your supersu zip in your sd card or phone storage by now, if not then put it in there first , ok so tap on install and locate SUPERSU zip, flash then reboot ;D

Will this work with the Blu Grand 5.5 HD as it has the same chipset, processor and GPU? It has a different screen size and resolution
Hi all, I just want to let you know that
* yes, it does work, my friend was able to install it and boot into twrp but so far I have not seen a proper custom ROM for the device I was helping my friend with. so we quit (he eventually got a new google pixel phone anyway)
note: yes, we have installed TWRP and booted into it. but someone has to: make custom rom for device or try to find a way to install STOCK OS and keep bootloader unlocked at the same time. will update OP to warn everyone. sorry.
P.S: sorry for the really late reply, was busy with life.
Hi bro! I tell you that the terminal that I have now, I CANNOT flash anything, it has the BootLoader closed and I can't penetrate or delete it. Any suggestions? Scripts commands do not work, they issue an error message.
