Can someone please make a screenshot of the storage on their Z5? I'd like to know how much is available to the user, just checked another thread about Z5 Compact's storage, and it was 19gb, which is terrible...
So how is Z5 here?

Sounds about right - no real reason to think the Z5C would be much different to the standard Z5. Not bothering with posting a screenshot but here's my rundown.
Total space: 32.00 GB
Available: 17.08 GB
Android System: 9.42 GB
Apps: 4.91 GB
Pictures, videos: 218 MB
I'm rocking:
32.00Gb Total,
15.59Gb Available,
9.42Gb Android sytem,
media 16.35Mb
Guest account is using 180Mb

i found that the internal storage for files was only about 10gb... 16gb internal storage is what all the specs say. i guess some 6gigs are allocated for apps and such? 10gigs really isn't much with the 8MP camera and ability to shoot HD vid.
am i missing something here? i'd like to have more storage capacity for music and still have room to shoot a few pics or even a video
any help would be appreciated. thx!
I have 10 GB, too. But there are 2 GB more for apps ("Internal memory") and the rest is for the OS and that stuff I think
4 GB reserved for the system??
I had the One X, which is supposed to have 32 GB, but 29,xx GB were usable. So the One X uses less system space?
I don't know, it's just what I think
10.5gb for user
2.5gb for apps
2.gb for ROM..
thats according to TB so i assume thats right
Its almost 16gb.. But hey a ford mustang 550bhp only has 543bhp

From hanging out in the HOX channel I think their partition setup is the same as the HOS. They have 32 GB and about 6 are claimed from the beginning for /app /data and other, smaller partitions. At least I recall people mentioning something about roughly 26 GB usable space.
Actually I find it ridiculous that HTC does not allow users to choose the partition size they need. And without S-OFF and full device access it is not possible to modify the partitions for devs... Aside from the fact that with ICS there is not even a NEED to define partitions as strictly as before, because of this new unified storage concept...
Hi Friends,
I want to buy a new phone but i am confused between xperia s and samsung galaxy s2. I feel that the only downside in xperia s is the 32 GB fixed memory.
Is 32 GB really enough? I have also heard that only 25 GB is available for the user, why is it so? What's occupying the rest of the storage space? Is it the pre installed bloatware? Is there an easy way to get rid of it, I mean without rooting?
Another big question is what is the size of full HD videos taken by xperia s?
Please help......

The question is, is 32Gb enough for YOU ? Do you store music / video or stream ? I hardly use any of my internal 16Gb, but I do like having an external SD to load my music on to - I don't have to worry about it competing for space with apps, and I can pretty much put anything I want on there without having to pick and choose (I only have ~25Gb of music, so I could conceivably put it ALL on an SD card, even). But some people don't need that.
The OS and pre-loaded apps occupy the space that's already taken. It's like that with any OS - it's going to take up space.
As for the HD video question... I'd look up the bit rate and do some math.

Depends on your usage , 25gb free space is enough for alot of songs and some games but I think that with movies in fhd you will use the memory very quickly, the space taken is for the system itself.
I can't understand the last question , the Xperia s has an HD 720p screen 16:9 and it will be perfect for movies as most of them have the same aspect ratio.

Thanks for the reply, i was actually asking about the size of video in MBs but i have already got the answer, its somewhere around 90 MB for i minute in 720p mode.
Anyways, i am now looking at the xperia ion HSPA as it price has gone down recently in india. Any ideas about it? Is the camera on ion just as good as xperia s? Also, i am a bit skeptical about its battery life as i have heard some bad things about it because even on ICS people are saying its still not quite nicely optimized.
Aaah! Trying to find if someone has posted a question like this using the title is difficult, it's too general!
I'm trying to ask J users if 4GB internal memory works well for people's needs?
I understand that it can vary, but in general?
My usage:
- Typically about 15 - 20 downloaded apps
- Very few games, only one or two usually
- I like to keep certain Google apps updated like Maps as I use that
Would I be considered a 'light' user or a normal user?
Does the OS on Jelly Bean use much of the internal space?
To be honest, I update my phone about once per year so I don't need to 'future proof' my phone too much but still I just don't want to download about 15-20 apps then find that I have to uninstall standard OS apps!
Thanks for any thoughts :victory:
Hey your phone don't lag!

Okay, if you find internal memory insufficient use apps like directory bind or something...I'm sure there are many applications for changing memories..
Hit the thanks button instead of telling it....
thank you

4gb? You can max out at 32gb via vold.fstab. Do it and keep downloading as much as you like. Even better with link2sd.

Yeah I use a 32GB for music and I'll likely upgrade to 64GB soon. My last two phones had 8GB internal (about 5GB user available) and I was wondering is the 4GB internal (2GB user available) a frequent problem for users. I have to admit I've never been fond of apps 2 SD etc. It seems like a fix for a problem.
Nah I personally too don't move apps.... in SD card but in JB it takes care of this itself

hi there!
just curious how much storage is left for the user on the 8GB Moto G.
this version ships earlier than the 16GB model, so was curious if the wait is worth.
currently, my apps on the SGS4 (with PAC-Man nightlies), occupy arund 2,5GB space.
btw, for photos and videos, I'm using a Sony QX10 module.
thanx in advance!
about 5.52GB left.
I have got to admit, that is still pretty good amount of space considering...

Can confirm that as well. But thanks to Google's "gift" (50GB extra on Drive) I don't bother . This phone is just fantastic compare to my last two devices...
