Hi, my friends dad purchased a galaxy s5 (scl23 - sm900j, running 4.4.2 )from some website and its performance has been atrocious. Me and my friend have attempted to install a custom rom but have ran into issues. At first we tried to flash twrp through odin but that failed so then we tried to install twrp through twrp manager (we gained root through towel root). The main problem happened when he rebooted into the bootloader/recovery screen where he got the "could not do normal boot" message. Google says that to resolve this you flash the stock rom, so we tried googling for that but not even sammobile has the 900j stock rom. Does anyone any way to fix the problem/ what/where the 900j rom is?
edit: i think i might have found it, using SCL23 brings up results even though 900J doesnt.
follow up question: say we are able to boot back to stock rom, are there any tailored guides for the 900J on how to flash?

Firstly I really appreciate the work by Darkman and Harris_xx however yesterday I tried to install the ROM from [ROM][STOCK][4.1.2][CMH2] N8010 Stock Rooted Busybox Deodexed (CWM) [05/09/2013] which is Darkman's ROM that was updated by Harris_xx, on my N8010. After it successfully flashes I get an error on boot up stating I do not seem to be rooted / or that supersu is not installed (unfortunately did no capture the actual error) and then it sits at the galaxy note boot page indefinitely.
I'm pretty sure its an issue with the ROM as I am able to flash an earlier version or different ROM without any issues.
Has anyone tested this ROM or have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
Last few days i tried the brasilian CML1.
But in my opinion the CMK2 is much smoother and i flashed my version after fullwipe back.
I had no such problems. Even in the german forum noone reported about this.
I can't reproduce where the problem is.
You could try to flash the latest SuperSU.zip trough recovery.
http://download.chainfire.eu/372/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip
I downloaded the ROM again, and although it seemed to be the same size that seemed to have worked. Really appreciate your feedback and of course the ROM update!
I have a Samsung galaxy Tab2 p3100,
Few dayz back I tried to install a custom rom in it thru CWM, but it was unsuccessfull.
Then I installed back that stock rom that I had backup.
Then I formatted my tab few times.
Then it shows some errorr;!!.
Then I used my phone, but when I opened SuperSU,
It is showing "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it,This is a problem"
So I flashed again that rooting file thru odin 3 times,
but still itz showing the same error.
So Dev's I kindly request u guyz to provide any solution to this problem.
Its really freaking me out .
Plzzz help me Guyszz....
You may need to flash a stock firmware, something may be borked in system, by updating your firmware and updating your custom recovery it will probably fix issue . After wards root update binary again and flash roms.
Pp.
any other solutions Bro
If something is borked due to a bad flash or bad or wrong download the only way to fix it is to reflash original stock firmware in order to fix it. You then start all over again.
I keep a folder on my pc with all the stuff I need incase this happens.

Flash a custom recovery. Download latest SuperSU zip from SuperSu thread and flash in recovery

Hi all as title states my moto g is downloading the new 5.0 update but during install it says error and switches phone back on with no changes made. It was rooted and custom firmware was installed. Since then uts back to fully unrooted, stock recovery is reinstalled and bootloader is still unlocked. However still it errors a quarter into installing.
So i have come to the assumption that it is best for me to revert/ reinstall the stock 4.4.4 rom back on and try updating after that. However seen loads of complicated methods on how to reinstall the stock firmware onto my phone so want the easiest way if possible.
In attatchments is the info from the current stock rom that is on the phone (will state a custom rom has never been installed to the phone always been stock) and i have downloaded the following to put onto it:
XT1032_RETAIL-GB_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.40_36_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml.zip
Ive tried using the mototools v3.1 and does abserlitly nothing non of the commants work or do anything with my phone.
So which is the easiest method?
Many Thanks
major problems!!!!!
Stock recovery installed to phone. Started update it was installing and got to 3/4 of the way through, errored, restarted and not goes in a loop saying no command!
Phone will not switch on!!!
Why has this happened?
If fastboot is too convoluted - using a custom recovery, flash one of these zips:

What update were you installing when it errored?
Hi,
I wonder if anyone could offer me a little assistance please ? I have a UK Tesco Moto G 16GB (2013) that I have successfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted and CWM recovery installed. Currently, it's running 4.4.4 Kitkat. I gave up with the OTA update as I was getting the 'preflash validation failed' message. More recently, I have tried following the guide on here to flash the XT1032_GPE_5.1_Optimized_v1.1.zip file using CWM. However, this resulted in what I believe is termed a bootloop - i.e. the coloured dots animation just never stopped - I waited half an hour and it was still going.
I've managed to restore it back to my previous 4.4.4 for the moment, but I would like to move to Lollipop at some point - if I could !
Could someone suggest a method I could try please ?
Many thanks !
Kev.
Hi there.
Well, my device is a XT1032 Retail US but I may have been through the problems you're facing right now.
Here we go:
Go full stock (don't know if you revocer from a backup or already did this but in any case you'd know what to do: This guide helped me a lot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219.
Do not install any official update using a custom recovery
Make sure you got the actual latest recovery version. If you went stock from the latest firmware you should have already got it.
If you have your OTA, Install it manually from the stock recovery
This method should work. It is the one I followed.
I got two errors: 1st was because was using custom recovery.
2nd was because my rom was stock but had deleted system apps, so the install failed always at some point.
Once I flashed the latest stock firmware including the stock recovery, I was able to install my OTA update.
Let me know if this works.
I was able to gain root no problem at all but nothing works with getting TWRP to install. I found the right version flashed with Odin and it never boots. I've flashed the kernal as well for this device and nothing. I have the stock ROM so I'm good there but what do I need to do to get TWRP to install on this thing?
