Hi guys,
i would like to transfer all my media (fotos etc.) from my nexus 5 to my nexus 5x.
Unfortunately a simple copy&paste isn't working for me since the change date of the file will be updated to the current timestamp.
But i would like every file to keep it's modification date in order to be sorted properly (in galery app etc.)
Is there any way to do so?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I've just rooted the Nexus 5 and, before doing it, I saved all my photos and videos on my desktop.
Once the process was finished I copied back all the files but now all my videos are on top of the gallery, while the photos are aligned correctly. The date of the photos are correct, the video's ones are not, the copy overwrited the creation date with the actual date.
I tried to modify that in Windows but once I copy them back the date is updated immediately.
Is there a way to fix this?
I tried to edit the info directly on the Nexus but in debug mode I cannot modify anything, I have to copy them on my pc (and if I disable the debug mode I cannot browse the Nexus on Windows)
Help me
Hi everyone, new to the XDA forums as a registered user. So anyway, I was recently browsing through my files through es file explorer file manager and noticed that the tones/sounds/ringtones that came with my nexus 5 have all disappeared from the folder including the sub folders for ringtones, alarms, ui.
From what I remember this folder does not simply allow the end user to move or add files to this folder. I did root my device and I did download a library of extra sounds as I didn't care for some of the stock nexus 5 sounds. Since I couldn't place these downloaded sounds into the media folder, I just placed these new sounds into the Ringtones folder which happily accepted these files. The downloaded library of the 1500 ringtones, alarms, ui sounds was subdivided similarly into the same 4 subfiles found in the media folder.
My question is: does the nexus 5 device automatically search for new directories to place similar files existing in a different directory and just dump it's files into the new newly created directory for ringtones? All of the original sounds are all there, but somehow relocated to the ringtones folder from media. It could also be that the nexus 5 sound library was part of the 1500 sound library, by then why would the media folder be affected? Does the media folder point to the ringtones folder if there are existing sound files?
I am running the latest 4.4.4 with stock android and stock launcher. I don't like heavily modifying my ui add that usually compromises device performance.
Thanks in advance for any input. I'm usually good at resolving problems with my device, but this issue is driving me insane. It's not affecting the way my phone functions or anything but since stuff is out of place, I just have to find out why that's so.
All built-in sounds are in/system/media/audio
Android on any device will look for any folder called ringtones, notifications, alarms and add the contents to the around picker menus. It does not relocate anything

Oh poop, how embarrassing, I was looking in the sdcard folder. Thanks for pointing that out! They are indeed in the system/media still. Thank you. Problem resolved.
Hi everybody,
I've a question: I receveid my new phone and i copy/paste my data from old phone to new phone.
All work fine... but, date of picture is lost and be replace by date of copy past.
So when i watch on my gallery all picture is on the same date :crying:
Do you know if a apps existing to restore the good date ?
Thx for your answer !
Hi,
The one solution I know of might not be what you are looking for but it still can help.
Transfer desired pic on the pc
Right-click on it and go to properties
In the general tab check the modified info, it should be the original date...
Hope it helped a bit.
I have just transferred all files from an SGS4 to a brand new S6 using the samsung smart switch - brilliant software.
The problem I found after the transfer was completed is related to the image gallery - the videos / whatapp images/screenshots/other images where nicely grouped with today's date instead of using their original created by date. Photos were then correctly tagged by time under this initial rather long section.
I checked the files via usb and noticed that the created / modified dates where incorrect so I copied all files again using windows explorer - this time I retained the created on and modified on however the last modified files are finding themselves on top - which doesn't make sense. I did some further testing and and confirm that every time I was copying a file from the S4 to the S6, it was being tagged as NEW and immediately placed at the top of the list.
Has anyone experienced this or can recommend a workaround for images / videos pls.
Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
I'll try to explain - I updated my phone last year and I used one of these apps to send all my files to my new phone etc etc.
And I noticed within the photo gallery I had two whatsapp image, and video folders. I didnt really think too much about it at the time.
But within the last few days I have now lost the old folder and within the gallery and everything that was in it.
I have tried to use es file explorer to find the other photos/videos but it would appear they have gone.
Something has obviously tidied/deleted them somehow, but I dont know what.
Any ideas how I might be able to get them back?
Thanks in advance
