Lighter yes last longer I'd say no. I've had the same glass on my Note 4 for some time now and doubt I'll ever use the extra one I bought. Plus you can't beat the feel of the glass, the plastic doesn't feel right and snags your finger now and then. I would say plastic is better only if your looking at price alone.

What's the weight difference between a 7" plastic screen protector and a tempered glass one?

I have bought tempered glass screen protectors for all my past devices, but I decided to get a matte protector. It's nice not having to see fingerprints.

I also purchased the ArmorSuit plastic screen protector solely for the price, should be delivered today. I usually buy the glass but didn't want to spend close to the amount of the tablet on a screen protector.

Well I bought the SPARIN for $10.99. Thought it's not too expensive considering the tab was $50 when i bought it. I haven't got it yet, will update after installing.

I got the amFilm one from Amazon.
It was only around $8 and came with two protectors. I don't see fingerprints anymore which is nice.

Not to stoke any flames, but my opinion is that the glass ones I have tried all broke. Zagg, Ebay cheapies, whatever, i have broken perhaps five on various devices.
I went back to Zagg original rubber. I prefer teh orange peel for tactile reference. I don't want the input to be friction free. I want to know where the input is centered. I just want to prevent chips and scratches. Zagg and similar knockoffs work well for me.

I'm considering buying one because it seems like I am constantly cleaning my display. Which is the most smudge resistant, if there is such a thing?

An oleophobic one. But you will pay for it & the oleophobic coating can wear off in time. They also sell a liquid oleophobic coating you can apply but I understand it's not as good.

Why spend all this money to protect a 35.00 disposable tablet?
I went to $ tree and bought a large tablet scrreen protector for a dollar. I cut in half and put half on the front and half on the back.. does the job for me

Glass Screen Protector or No...?

Hey guys, so I have never used a glass screen protector before, I have always used Ghost Armor's screen protector which is almost like a rubberized material. Anyways...I was looking at the Spigen nano glass screen protector but I am having a difficult time justifying spending $35, but not sure if I trust the knock-off ones either. Keep in mind my phone is ALWAYS in either my Otterbox Defender case, Otterbox Commuter Case, or UAG Maverick case. I guess my question is...is it worth getting one of these glass screen protectors if I am always using the above cases??
Yes it is worth it. I myself had zagg invisible shields for years. Similiar to ghost armour. I'm pretty happy with tempered glass screen protector. Here is a link that will help on where to buy. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457815

No it's not. Im the same way. Always having cases with great proection. The glass screen protector is ideal for someone not using a case. Or a very thin case. I have a body glove balastic wich has great protection and now my temperedglass screen protector. And I love it.

I can share my experience with glass protectors.
Two months ago, I dropped my phone during a phone conversation at the height of 1.7-1.8 meters. It fell on rough cement ground, and I had no case on, so I naturally feared what I might see when I went to pick up my new galaxy s4.
All four corners of my bezel/frame were severely dented and scratched.
The glass protector was shattered to pieces. But to my surprise, my screen was in perfect condition. Upon inspection, found that adhesive between protector and galaxy s4 screen helped the protector to absorb and redistribute force of the drop, rather than the screen taking the hit.
My investment in glass protector was well justified on this account. Besides, it feels much better than rubbery ghost armor.
Mind you, I have GA on my ipad3, ipad mini, iphone 4 and 5, and galaxy tab.
And the smoothness of glass screen protector is incomparable.
Hope this helps make yours decision.

I don't understand why people want to ruin premium latest Gorilla glass generation with screen protector. Even tempered glass ones will never have same features like original Gorilla glass, especially I am talking about clearness, smooth gliding and oleo-phobic covering for easy cleaning. I would recommend quality leather pouch or S-view cover case to protect your screen, also handling phone with care would prolong its lifetime significantly.
Well my point is I use very protective cases...not slim cases...but maybe I will take the plunge on the spigen screen protector. Any of you have any experience with the cheap knock off ones?

I like glass screen protectors.
Gorilla glass can scratch and break.
I have this protector:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171172132327?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Apparently out of stock. When they have them, they are about $8.00.
There is also, this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321245033521?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I didn't buy it because I like the home button closed in.
I would skip the Spigen glass. Too expensive and crappy customer support.
I had one and since I didn't buy it from an "authorized dealer" they won't offer the 50% discount on replacement.
It was authentic and passed their web check but nothing.
So I'll buy the cheap ones.

No,
I got sucked into these cheapies for the price and if I were to mess it up i wouldn't be wasting 30 bucks. They are good to practice with and i honed my skill with them. Once i put on a high quality screen protector the difference was near night and day from touch feel and feedback to how clear and cleaner everything looks
I'm still waiting for my glass protectors so i can test them out. Like i said those cheap ones from E-bay are only good for practice and quick protection until you can get better.
As for those asking why have it?
Gorilla Glass 3 is better then others but still not indestructible. Having a little more protection never hurts. As one person pointed out their $6-$30 investment may have saved their $500+ product. Well worth it imo.

Spigen's tempered glass is oleo-phobic treated glass. I cannot tell the difference, in smoothness of glide, etc. And it holds up pretty damn well to wear and tear. I had it for 13 months on my Note II and it didn't scratch much.
For the OP, if you even have to worry about it, get it. I have this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPIGEN-SGP-...l_Phone_Screen_Protectors&hash=item3a83e3d3ef
I had it on my Note 2, my wife's Iphone 5S, my (sold) nexus 5), and my S4. On my Note 2, I have it COMPLETELY encased in shock absorbing rubber and plastic. But if the phone falls and it's JUST RIGHT, the shock will still travel through the phone. Also, you can drop your phone nad have it hit the edge of a table and the case isn't gonna do a damn thing for it. I am a runner so I run a hell of a lot. and I use my phone once in a while when I need to change songs, answer a call, etc. When it's 3 degrees and your hands are cold, you can drop a phone. I did, and the glass protector cracked. no mark on my Note. I was able to recently sell my Note for $325, I wouldn't be able to do that if the screen was cracked!
IMO, totally worth the $20 I spent on it.
Buy it on ebay, it's still directly from Spigen, and it's $10 cheaper.

Actually, you don't need to apply any protector to your phone, if you can stand for very minor scratch to your screen.
The corning glass is excellent scratch proof, I have been using no screen protector since my first iPhone 4 and coming with samsung s3, s4, iphone 5 and etc.... What you get is a better screen, color and contrast if you just don't mind the minor scratches.

I bought a cheap glass screen protector off of amazon. It was some generic one from China. With Amazon prime free shipping I couldn't pass it up.
pros: super clear, finger print resistant, protects screen well
cons: breaks after some abuse (though better this than the screen)
When my first one broke after considerable abuse I ordered two more to replace it. at $10 it wasn't bad. When the one I have on now breaks, I'll just pop my backup on and order another spare.
This cheap and the feel of real glass vs the Ghost Armor I had before, it's great.

I got mine on eBay and have the same philosophy. The glass fells like the screen and under abuse the tempered glass will crack.
It happened to me recently and I installed my spare and bought two more.
Can't beat the way the glass ones look and feel.
I also bought an aluminum button to extend the factory button. So now the home button is not recessed.
I have had my iloome screenmate for a good while and it hasn't cracked or anything and it has been used.

$20 is cheap insurance to protect your screen. A plastic one isn't going to protect your screen from damage. It may protect it from scratches but not from being busted if your phone is dropped.

You can't go wrong with the SPIGEN SGP Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector, once you install it correctly it really holds and protects the screen from pocket scruffs.
My cousin got into a motorcycle accident last year and the screen protector w/ the Spigen slim armor case protected his phone.
Tempered glass is the only thing for me from now on. $5 on eBay. Feels excellent, optically clear to me. Same screen sensitivity to me.
No need to blow 20+$ on big names. I break it, buy 5 more. No big deal.
Buy plastic sheets and the scratch and peel off in a week.
Even no name temp glass is better.
For me is the anti-glare screen protectors, for read is the best choice.

Zagg HDX and all other non-glass screen protectors

This thread seems more appropriate as the tempered glass thread discussing various plastic screen protectors is taking away from the focus of the thread itself. Cheers. [emoji106]

has anyone switched from the zagg glass to the zagg hdx? Does it have the same clarity and smooth feeling?
It seems like there are mixed reviews on the texture of it. Some say it's rubbery and others say it's glasslike. Either way if the oleophobic coating is decent, it should be a nice alternative to glass. I have one on order. Gonna try it before I put the iloome on my wife's phone. I'll put up some pics and thoughts when it gets here.

I put one on yesterday. It fits very well and almost disappears once on the device. It doesn't feel as smooth as the glass. It is a liitle more grippy, but nothing like the old rubber ones. On a scale of 1 (rubber) to 10 (glass), I would rate it a seven. Very nice and entirely acceptable to me.

Agreed, im using the Spidgen protector nd its pretty good. I have to say that the Spen's low-spectrum sensitivity is almost useless now, but overall the Spen experience is good (so long as you have greased the screen with your finger oils). Is the HDX just a thicker piece of PET film?
I posted this in another board but thought I would share here also:
I wanted to update if anyone bought the Zagg tempered glass. I did some research online(including here) about the halo effect and called Zagg today. Talked to the customer service rep and she was aware of the issue and told me that they did correct it but had issues so not sending them out yet. She said they are sending a HDX out temporarily until they can send out the corrected tempered glass. So they are not charging me for the HDX (which I will get in 5-7 days) and she said to wait as long as I can and then call back and they will send me a corrected tempered glass when they are ready. Wanted to let people know to call them.

Best OnePlus 6 Screen Protectors

I have ordered OnePlus 6 today.. And waiting that would come tomorrow.. This time it's almost 95 percent glass so protector would be must need to keep the device mint, especially for the BACK!!
So Let me start of the thread for the OnePlus 6 Screen Protector.
I have ordered OnePlus 6 Full body screen protector from the Gadgetshieldz.
And I hope this time it's merely impossible to get the best TGP soon. Please let know your suggestions.
Finally got my Gadgetshieldz protectors and applied it. The protector is fitting well and all the holes are perfect. Important part is, its providing lot of grip to the OP6 which is very slippery without the protector. Might go for a Tempered Glass for the screen if I find a decent one but the back protector is a keeper. Take a look at the images of the protectors applied on my OP6. Can't go wrong with these for a low price.

I bought the original bumper carbon case but forgot to buy the combo (case + screen protector).
Now I don't know if I should buy the original oneplus screen protector (tempered glass) or buy something from a 3rd party.
Any ideas?
Hi,
I thought we cannot use bumper with tempered glass ?

Hmm, you may be right.
This is the one I bought:
https://www.oneplus.com/uk/oneplus-6-protective-case
And this was the bundle:
https://www.oneplus.com/uk/oneplus-6-total-protection-bundle
What is the difference between the protective case and the bumper?
I think bumper protects the screen better. But if you use a tempered glass you cannot use bumper as the covered lips of the bumper will damage the tempered glass.

Gotcha.
I will wait to get it and see how it goes.
Anyone had any experience with those nano liquid protections (ie: https://www.spigen.com/collections/oneplus/products/screen-protector-glas-tr-nano-liquid )?
I ordered the phone with the Nylon bumper case. I almost pulled the trigger on the tempered glass protector as well but I was worried it wouldn't fit with the bumper case and it appears I was right.
The great news is that this phone comes with a pre-applied plastic screen protector. So the screen will be protected right from the beginning. This will buy us time for the release of more tempered glass protectors that may fit with bulkier cases like the nylon bumper case.

That's good info, sn0warmy, appreciate the input! It's definitely good that it will buy us time for that.

According to OnePlus support chat, the tempered glass protector will work with the bumper case. I'm not saying they are right, but I'm saying there is a chance

With the ultimate bundle, you get the choice of bumper case and tempered glass. It wouldn't make sense to bundle them if they didn't work together, but who knows. The strange this is that the bundle that includes only a case and glass, doesn't offer a bumper case.
I have the bundled case and the sandstone. Both fit with the OnePlus tempered glass. I would guess the bumper does too having looked at it in the shop but not 100% as I didn't put it on.
Since they sell the bumper and the tempered glass together and there are no notes in the tempered glass that it does not work with the bumper case, i am really hoping that you can use the 2 together since that is what i bought. if they don't work together, i will have to send the bumper back.

I did not have experience with this particular brand but ordered from AliExpress for $3.50 each about six months ago for my Samsung Galaxy S8+. It's been six months w/o a screen protector and not a single scratch insight. I don't have the rough use of my phone but don't baby it either. Long and short of it is: This type of product MAY work and just to try it out, I would not spend $24. $4 and wait of 2 weeks should get you the same product at a much cheaper price to try. Here is the link to the product I used:

P.S. No relation or financial interest with this company.

Thanks. Ordered one as well. Mostly for the back protector since the phone is glass. Hopefully OnePlus releases an official TGP that includes a back protector.

One question. Are you sure the official TGP includes a back protector?. In Spanish online store don`t say anything about this.
Greetings from Spain.
When you uncheck the body-protector, you pay 9.95$ instead of 11.95$ so pretty sure it does.

Are you talking about this? :
OnePlus 6 3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector Black
$19.95
x 1
This is the official TGP from OnePlus.com online shop. In the description says :
In the Box:
OnePlus 6 3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector
Don't say it has a back protector.
Greetings from Spain.
I am sorry mate, I got you wrong.
I was talking about gadgetshieldz, there a back protector is included.
Oneplus official tgp doesn't include a back protector (and @brangalm says "hopefully" so he isn't sure either), but I ordered it as well.
