Hi folks,
I have been using Acer A510 for almost 1 year now, and upgraded 7 months ago to the latest JB OTA. I haven't ever rooted it.
Since 2 days, it can't boot suddenly, stuck with the following error message:
Booting failed
Bootloader vJB-d0ca683: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
Click to collapse
After a bit of Googling, I tried to unlock the bootloader, as a way to recover the tablet. But that keeps failing as well:
[ [email protected]: /tmp ]# fastboot oem unlock
...
Click to collapse
At this step, I can see the unlock icon and played with Vol+ and Vol- to quickly select the "Unlock" option, and this is what I get on the tablet:
Unlocking...
Bootloader vJB-d0ca683: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
Click to collapse
And on the computer (kind of error messages that are of no help):
...
FAILED (remote: (Unknown error code))
Click to collapse
So it appears the bootloader can not be unlocked, and I can not even enter the recovery.
I've read somewhere that it may be possible to recover in APX mode.
So is there any way to recover it (either through the bootloader or through APX mode)?
Thanks for your help!

I get exactly the same problem this WE :crying:
I never root/flash/play with recovery or anything else.
Tablet shutdown by itself, then after restart I get trouble to boot :
First the Android said it was unable to start due to encryption : "encryption unsuccessful > need factory reset". Even if I NEVER activate encryption !
I try couple of reboot without suceess, then now it stop on Acer logo and go to fastboot mode at each startup.
Then I have exactly same trouble : impossible to unlock bootloader using fastboot.
No way to flash something.
Need help !
If fastboot is available, you can try to boot CWM Recovery or TWRP recovery
fastboot -i 0x0502 boot C:\....\cwm-recovery.img
From there you can try a factory reset

It doesn't work as the bootloader is still locked !
Code:
FAILED (remote: bootloader is locked.)
And it's impossible to unlock bootloader as describe in the post.
Any other idea ?
You can try to download the full ROM from acer Web Site (GEN1 or CUS1 depending on what you had before)
rename it to update.zip and put it on your sdcard
Reboot your tablet in recovery if you can to flash it, or in bootloader (don't remember if the Acer bootloader can flash an update.zip)

Its 2015 now but i will post this anyway..
Try this
1st, Boot into recovery:
- Press [vol-] + [power]
- Once the tablet vibrated, let go [power] and keep [vol-].
- Now the tablet vibrates a second time, let go [vol-] and press [vol+] quick
- Once the text that appears on the screen ("loading recovery kernel image"), let go [vol+].
2nd, choose "Wipe data cache & factory reset" via volume rocker and power button to select it.
3rd, choose "reboot"
I solved mine using that steps, hopefully it will solve yours.
Thank you very much!!! It worked for me!

Hello everyone, it may be late for you but i found a solution for a bricked A510 :
for my part i only had access to bootloader unlock and fastboot, but it didn't communicate with my laptop
So i found a software called DriverHub and launched it with my A510 connected to my laptop
It found the right driver for it (was not the of from Acer or any universal ADB driver) and i could use the fastboot mode to unlock OEM and flash TWRP, and now i have Cyanogen running on my tab who came back from dead
Here's a link to the software : www drvhub net
Have a nice day
Hi,
my HTC desire S stuck on the htc splash screen
this is what it says on my boot screen when i hold my volume down button and press power button:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.002
RADIO-3305.06.02.03_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 30 2011,17:29,31
i tried to do a factory reset but when i select "FACTORY RESET" it freeze !!
when i get into recovery mode the screen went black and the phone vibrated 7 times and did not start
i installed all needed drivers, so the phone is recognized as "Android ADB interface"
then i tried to use some tools (in fastboot mode) and this is the result :
- adb tools
"adb devices" : List of attached devices is empty => the phone is not recognized by adb
"fastboot devices" : HT13STJ25285 fastboot => the phone is recognized
"fastboot getvar cid" : cid:VODAP120
when i use fastboot command to flash the phone it always says :
< waiting for device >
sending 'radio' (25856 KB)... OKAY
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
same error message for radio.img and boot.img
- Whenever I try revolutionary, it always gets stuck on waiting for device...

the RUU detect that the phone has the version 1.47.163.2 and says that it will be upgraded to 1.47.401.4 but it always get stuck on "rebooting to bootloader..."
- i downloaded the file PG88IMG.zip, put it on the sd card and rebooted into bootloader but nothing happened, it show me the bootloader menu and don't detect the file
I also tried to de all steps using HTC drivers witth HTC Sync installed, but always no solution !
Any help is appreciated!
thanks you
Radhouane
According to the internetZ you need a ROM branded by A1 (Vodafone France) (because the red number is the code for it ^^ 1.47.163.2)
Try this one (the blue button)
I recommend you to stay on that ROM afterwards and go S-OFF.

Hi I've unlocked the bootloader of my phone but I can't find any recoveries to push through ADB, therefore I can't flash SU. Does someone have a solution ?
Allright, for the newcomers, I've found a solution for this : (it is very important that you don't update your rom if you've rooted your phone, unless you want a 150$ brick I guess !)
Don't forget to install adb before anything
1. Enable USB debugging in developers option.
2. Connect your phone to a computer and then launch cmd. Type «adb reboot fasboot».
3. Once in fastboot mode we will flash TWRP by typing this : «fastboot flash recovery 1streco.img».
4. Unplug and reboot your device, on the nag screen keep pressing the up volume button to enter recovery. If it doesn't work then choose shutdown and hit all three buttons while it's booting.
5. Once you are in TWRP, backup everything to extsdcard.
6. Go to wipe and format /data and wipe it under advanced wipe. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER PARTITION !!! ONLY DATA.
7. Once it's done reboot the device. You should have a message telling you that the encryption failed, click reset phone.
8. It should launch TWRP choose reboot to bootloader.
9. Once in fastboot mode type this : «fastboot flash recovery 2ndreco.img» then type : «fastboot reboot».
10. Your phone should now display : «Factory reset low level» when you click reset phone. Once it's done it will automatically reboot but don't let it finish his boot sequence yet. On the nag screen keep pressing the up volume to enter recovery and then choose shutdown.
11. Boot in fastboot mode again and type : «fastboot flash recovery 1streco.img», then : «fastboot reboot».
Hold the vol.up button while on nag screen to enter TWRP.
If you don't enter TWRP after you typed fastboot reboot and hit the vol.up button but you enter erecovery that's ok, in this case what you need to do is to choose shutdown. Then hold vol.up, vol.down and power buttons to enter TWRP ! Go to install and flash magiskv13.3.zip and voilà your phone is now rooted !
I've not tried but I think you could restore the data partition with TWRP once you've done all those steps but I can't guarantee you anything so this is why I've told you to backup your data.

Si I've been able to install twrp but when I try to flash SuperSu.zip it doesn't work. It's crazy !
For those who wants to know, I've tried everything and the only way to go is to format and wipe data in order to disable dm-verity. But if you do that you won't be able to go further because the rom asks you to crypt your datas before continuing....

Hi guys ! Sorry for the wait but here it is, my tutorial to the graal, root on this device :

Can you tell us a little more about these two files? Where have you found them? (Not wanting to sound too paranoid but you know...)
I've found 1streco.img on a Chinese board. It's the work of a guy who managed to make TWRP available to us, users of honor 6c. The second one is the standard recovery image of Honor 6c. Those files are good, don't worry. Once your phone is rooted and everything works good, you can of course update magisk through TWRP to the lastest version.
OK, I have been trying around now for an hour or so... I have one real problem and one possible problem:
1. (the real one) Using Win7 64 bit, each time I send the the phone into fastboot mode, the system tries to install "MTP USB device" drivers... without any success so far. That's why the phone boots normally again. I haven't been able to solve that so far (installed HiSuite for example, didn't help).
2. (the possible one) Should the bootloader be unlocked? If yes, I have to admit I haven't found a way to do that so far. :-/
Of course the bootloader must be unlocked before doing anything, you can request a code here on Huawei website : http://en.ui.vmall.com/plugin.php?id=unlock
bravo there is machine back or full backup with recovery
Did you manage to root your phone ?
beautiful, can you install a module on magisk? if yes how because when installing the modules I get a failure when editing magisk.img thanks ?
No, you can't because of dm-verity, you.can manually install via recovery tho.
For the Russian version 6s failed to implant. ADB reboot fastboot this command does not put the phone in fastboot mode.
My Nexus 5 is stuck on the Google start-up screen. I can get into Recovery mode but any combination of buttons I press (holding power + pressing volume up button once) to access the recovery mode menu (on the android guy with "no command" screen) reboots the phone and it gets stuck on the start-up screen again !
Can anybody help me ?
I have no knowledge of rooting or anything of that sort. I am basically a novice. Just following instructions online and youtube which did not work on my phone. Please help.
~ Rohan.
So, it may be the infamous power button. If you gently whack the Nexus 5 onto your palm (not too hard, your digitiser is delicate) it can sometimes free it up. If it's not that you may need to factory reset the phone:
1. From the Recovery menu (the little green guy) hold down power then press the down arrow. That'll give you a command to factory reset.
2. If that fails, you can access the sideload menu and reimage the phone from the instructions posted here: https://developers.google.com/android/images
Post here if you get stuck.
Hi Zerbey,
Thank you for your response. I have actually replaced the power button very recently.
Method-1 suggested by you did not work. I shall try method-2 and keep you posted.
Thanks once again !
~ Rohan
Update:
Hi Zerbey,
I have tried method-2 as per the instructions:
downloaded the factory image 6.0.1 (M4B30X, Oct 2016). Used below command
fastboot oem unlock
flash-all
this is the message i get from the terminal:
<remote: not supported in locked device>
archive does not contain 'boot.sig'
archive does not contain 'recovery.sig'
archive does not contain 'system.sig'
archive does not contain 'vendor.sig'
Did you press enter after typing fastboot OEM unlock?
As a reminder, unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data.

When you see that no command screen, the phone is waiting for you to give a command. Just press and hold Power button, and at the same time press Volume Up once(for atleast 10 seconds). Release both buttons after the boot options appears. Wipe data, cache partion and reboot. If it doesnt work then a workaround would be to flash TWRP recovery(Checkout the TWRP thread on xda), boot into it and delete your corrupt /system, /data partitions and either
1. Flash your stock rom using fastboot or
2. Flash a custom rom (recommended).
Also i would recommend you to follow the instructions given on xda instead of checking out youtube because some users use different methods for flashing.
This should solve your problem. Hope it helps

Raheel

The phone stays there. Does not reboot.
Does the fastboot command return the device serial #? If not, adb is not properly set up.
The issue: When booting I get the "bad key" boot text which hangs for about 10 seconds before going to splash.
When doing power button + volume up, the bad key hangs for so long that holding down power button just SHUTS THE PHONE OFF.
I can do power button + volume down to enter bootloader, and then enter recovery mode from there, but when I do that I get NO COMMAND
Ive also tried with adb
adb reboot recovery
same thing NO COMMAND
Everything that I google about NO COMMAND comes back with "oh just do power button + volume up duh" and each time I read that as a solution it makes me a little bit more angry.

bad key and/or N/A is just the phone saying it has an unlocked bootloader.
NO COMMAND when entering Recovery, yes, google is right. When you see NO COMMAND, press and HOLD the power button and TAP the volume up key. You should see at the top, Android Recovery and a bunch of options below. If you don't see this, your recovery partition was probably modified/corrupt. Flash the original recovery.img from a stock rom. I don't think there's a working E6 TWRP recovery image yet.
If you still haven't figured this out I have a possible fix. I found that upon first installing the magisk_patched.img from the guide you linked, everything booted up fine and magisk and root were working. I however made the mistake of booting normally...somehow this affects the magisk boot function in the recovery and gives the no command screen. I just fastboot flash recovery magisk_patched.img again and booted straight into recovery and that fixed it again. Just make sure once you have root again to use a program that allows you to boot back into recovery again directly.

bad key and/or N/A is just the phone saying it has an unlocked bootloader.

When I get to the Android Recovery which option do I choose?
I tried "Reboot system now" and Magisk was still not installed
