[Q] Desire S wont boot up - HTC Desire S

Hi,
my HTC desire S stuck on the htc splash screen
this is what it says on my boot screen when i hold my volume down button and press power button:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.002
RADIO-3305.06.02.03_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 30 2011,17:29,31
i tried to do a factory reset but when i select "FACTORY RESET" it freeze !!
when i get into recovery mode the screen went black and the phone vibrated 7 times and did not start
i installed all needed drivers, so the phone is recognized as "Android ADB interface"
then i tried to use some tools (in fastboot mode) and this is the result :
- adb tools
"adb devices" : List of attached devices is empty => the phone is not recognized by adb
"fastboot devices" : HT13STJ25285 fastboot => the phone is recognized
"fastboot getvar cid" : cid:VODAP120
when i use fastboot command to flash the phone it always says :
< waiting for device >
sending 'radio' (25856 KB)... OKAY
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
same error message for radio.img and boot.img
- Whenever I try revolutionary, it always gets stuck on waiting for device...
- RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410 (the official ROM)
the RUU detect that the phone has the version 1.47.163.2 and says that it will be upgraded to 1.47.401.4 but it always get stuck on "rebooting to bootloader..."
- i downloaded the file PG88IMG.zip, put it on the sd card and rebooted into bootloader but nothing happened, it show me the bootloader menu and don't detect the file
I also tried to de all steps using HTC drivers witth HTC Sync installed, but always no solution !
Any help is appreciated!
thanks you
Radhouane

According to the internetZ you need a ROM branded by A1 (Vodafone France) (because the red number is the code for it ^^ 1.47.163.2)
Try this one (the blue button)
I recommend you to stay on that ROM afterwards and go S-OFF.

The phone only restarts when you press Vol down at that stage regardless of pressing power button at the same time, please check your volume buttons and ensure that you are pressing Vol up + power button.

Is this it?
Yup, that's it; you're S-Off so you're good. Ok, so you need to:
1. Go to the 4ext or the ClockworkMod website to download a recovery.img.
2. Make sure your adb and fastboot drivers are updated. Google for that; I'm not 100% sure how to do that anymore, but it should be simple. Basically, open up the Windows cmd and type in "adb" and hit enter, then type "fastboot" and hit enter; if the command are recognized you're good.
3. Reboot your phone into fastboot mode by booting into the bootloader (where you saw that menu you just copied here), then navigating to the "fastboot" option using the volume buttons, then selecting it with the power button.
4. On your computer, using the file manager, navigate to where the recovery.img is saved. Shift-rightclick on it and choose something like "open command prompt here."
5. In the command prompt type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
6. If it completes successfully, reboot into recovery, full wipe, and flash a ROM.

You need to do #3. So you need to run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img from the fastboot mode (navigate to "fastboot" from the menu with colored letters by using the volume keys, then select it with the power button), not the hboot mode (the screen with the colored letters).

[Q] Stuck on fastboot with broken pwr button

Hi I have the following problem: after I flash Cannibal open touch recovery I could not flash any .zip file so I decided that I go back to CWM touch so I restarted my phone. Phone booted into fastboot mode with the following message no boot or recovery IMG so I decided to flash recovery with fastboot. I opened the folder with fastboot command flash_recovery connect the phone to usb but the command line always showed waiting for device. I unplugged the phone and tried to press the volume keys but nothing happened as if it freezes. I pulled the battery and try it again but no response. I cant connect phone to odin because it has broken power button and after I insert the battery it always turn on itself. Please advise me what to do thank you.
Seems your drivers have gone corrupt. Try a different system and use Nexus Root Toolkit.
I tried this option but without success. Phone does not respond to anything. No volume up or volume down. It´s just stucked on bootloader.
This link says that if you get <waiting for device> , then fastboot is not configured properly. Check out the link over here.
You may also try this command "fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.3-crespo.img" to boot into recovery without installing it.
no hope
The reason you cannot navigate in fastboot/bootloader is that your powerswitch is probably stuck in the "on position"...does your device immediately power on when battery is inserted?
The way i solved this a few months ago was to completly remove my powerswitch from the board power my device on..use quickboot to enter fastboot menu and input commands...
Also completely removing your power button makes powering on your nexus alot more complicated.
what i did was go to download mode (holding vol+ and -) and pluging phone in..this takes you to download mode
then you need to get a copy of a boatloader file to flash via odin which will reset your phone and power it on...pm me if interested i can provide you with files necessary

Nexus 5 Update Marshmallow Boot stuck

Hi !
So I just followed this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701/
I used the second way, because the first one told me that 'system.img' was missing (not the only one), whatever; second method was good I did all it was asked but I didn't saw the one command out of the box "fastboot flash cache C:\androidimage\cache.img", I mean, I did all the command in the 'Code' box but the one 'fastboot flash cache C:\androidimage\cache.img' was out and I miss it.
So next I followed the step, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons, press Power Button + Volume UP when the android is dead with triangle, it's okay, but now the phone just rebooted and there were no 'Select "Wipe data/factory data reset' as tutorial said there will be.
And now I'm stuck in the boot animation since around 15 minutes I tried to update to 6.0.0 and it's just stuck in the animation.
What must I do ? Because I don't have USB DEBUG activated because it's wiped so ? I just wait ? What can I do ?
I really need help right now. Dunno what to do, just wait ? Don't think this is normal at all.
Thank,
Best regards.

You can do two things.
Type
fastboot format userdata
fastboot format cache
while your phone in fastboot mode
Or
Enter to recovery and there press and hold the power key while press and release the volume_up key, then the recovery menu will be visible. There you can select factory reset

Nexus 5 stuck on Google start-up screen

My Nexus 5 is stuck on the Google start-up screen. I can get into Recovery mode but any combination of buttons I press (holding power + pressing volume up button once) to access the recovery mode menu (on the android guy with "no command" screen) reboots the phone and it gets stuck on the start-up screen again !
Can anybody help me ?
I have no knowledge of rooting or anything of that sort. I am basically a novice. Just following instructions online and youtube which did not work on my phone. Please help.
~ Rohan.
So, it may be the infamous power button. If you gently whack the Nexus 5 onto your palm (not too hard, your digitiser is delicate) it can sometimes free it up. If it's not that you may need to factory reset the phone:
1. From the Recovery menu (the little green guy) hold down power then press the down arrow. That'll give you a command to factory reset.
2. If that fails, you can access the sideload menu and reimage the phone from the instructions posted here: https://developers.google.com/android/images
Post here if you get stuck.
Hi Zerbey,
Thank you for your response. I have actually replaced the power button very recently.
Method-1 suggested by you did not work. I shall try method-2 and keep you posted.
Thanks once again !
~ Rohan
Update:
Hi Zerbey,
I have tried method-2 as per the instructions:
downloaded the factory image 6.0.1 (M4B30X, Oct 2016). Used below command
fastboot oem unlock
flash-all
this is the message i get from the terminal:
<remote: not supported in locked device>
archive does not contain 'boot.sig'
archive does not contain 'recovery.sig'
archive does not contain 'system.sig'
archive does not contain 'vendor.sig'
Did you press enter after typing fastboot OEM unlock?
As a reminder, unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data.

When you see that no command screen, the phone is waiting for you to give a command. Just press and hold Power button, and at the same time press Volume Up once(for atleast 10 seconds). Release both buttons after the boot options appears. Wipe data, cache partion and reboot. If it doesnt work then a workaround would be to flash TWRP recovery(Checkout the TWRP thread on xda), boot into it and delete your corrupt /system, /data partitions and either
1. Flash your stock rom using fastboot or
2. Flash a custom rom (recommended).
Also i would recommend you to follow the instructions given on xda instead of checking out youtube because some users use different methods for flashing.
This should solve your problem. Hope it helps
Regards,
Raheel
When you type "fastboot devices" and press enter, the phone's serial # appears?
When you get into fastboot mode, does the phone stay there or does it reboot after a few seconds?

The phone stays there. Does not reboot.
Does the fastboot command return the device serial #? If not, adb is not properly set up.
