I run the last update of COS (PAS3OH) with root and TWRP.
I usual apply Deep Darkness Overhauled and until version 2.0.2 (which isn't CM13 compatible) I haven't any issue with it. After the last update and so on, when I apply it (or update it) the system UI crashes and I've to recovery from Nandroid because the device become unusable. This weird issue happens even with Dark Material theme which is also CM13 compatible.
I've already mailed the theme's developer to report the issue.
Any other with this problem? Could you test it?
I had a tough time after using Deep Darkness that i can't see anything on the screen. Luckily i have TWRP then i boot into that to remove that apk to boot the OS.
If that happens you could boot into safe mode (holding volume down during boot) and change the theme to the standard one.

In which folder the apk was?
Thanks
I have this issue with Deep Darkness. I can't change settings until I plug the phone into the charger. Very frustrating when having to switch to guest mode to have access to phone.
Uninstalled Deep Darkness as soon as I could!
So is this a Deep Darkness issue or a CM13 compatible theme issue?

Try to apply last update of Deep Darkness Overhauled (v 2.2.1), now it works on my device.

I'm not rooted tho, so maybe I'm not in the right place
For now Deep Darkness seems to be working fine.
It is really the best theme.

Hi,
I am using Nexus 5(rooted). I was trying to customize a boot animate myself. However, it shows nothing after I modified it.
For now, it will show only black screen after the White Google logo with unlock.
I don't know how to fix phone now, screen show nothing. System should be fine. the screen lock is working because I hear the screen lock sound, and I can unlock it. I have the original bootanimation.zip. I can get in the MTP drive when I connect it to my computer . However, I remember the USB debugging mode is off. Is there any way to fix it through computer? Bootloader is working on phone
Thanks
If you have custom recovery, boot into it and adb push
Bootanimation black is common if image is incorrect bit depth. Never heard of it making the rom black too. How long have you left it on for to check?

10 mins already =(
I did the system back up after I root the nexus 5. is this the custom recovery?
Would you mind tell me more how to do it? Thanks a lot. I just start to use android =(.
I can get in recovery mode, but there is nothing in "restore" section.
I tried to use "wipe" --> "advanced wipe" -->"system" to fix it on fastboot boarder. And, now it stucks at White Google logo. Not even get in to system now.. Help :crying:

You have no OS now you wiped system, either push or sideload a custom rom or flash the stock image.
Ok. Fixed. Thank you for helping all =D
I downloaded the rom here and put it in USB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557523
and then mount it --> install--> install the rom =D done

Oke, glad you fixed it :good:
Bit depth is important when making your own boot images. I don't know if it's changed since donut 1.6 but back then you could not compress the zip either or you would end up with a solid black animation.
If you use 7zip you set compression level to store

I have flashed a rom yesterday, today I switched to ART and now it's in a loop.
It says app can't be started and it says a million time. After like five minutes its rebooting.
Can anyone help?
Ugh, I miss me replaceable battery, that was in my HTC sensation.
Thanks

Hold power and volume down for a minute let it reboot into bootloader, choose recovery and reflash your zip. ART isn't compatible with somethings (Xposed framework) or the ROM/Kernel don't like it (happens sometimes)

Does this also work for safe mode? it seems I am in safe mode :')
And a minute? It'st that too long?
Thanks
EDIT:
THANKS SOLVED. it wasn't working first.
Yup will work in safe mode also, a minute is the official time, it usually does it in about 20-30seconds.

Do you now I I can change back to Dalvik in Recovery mode or something?
EDIT:
Found something
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/to-dalvik-art-flashable-zip-t2673457
There is a zip file in the Xposed thread to revert, however it's just as easy to dirty flash your ROM again as it'll reset it back to Dalvik for you.
I installed a theme via playstore (a cyanogenmod theme), I accidentally clicked the boot animations option (usually seems like a bad idea, so I usually stay away), now it won't boot up.
It won't detect in adb
Any ideas? Without having to fully wipe the device
Thanks

Did you try to boot it in safe mode?
Accidentally installed a boot theme and it worked flawlessly for me. Didn't like it as much as the original one from Cyanogenmod so I removed it.

If you're on cm12 long press power button till the power off screen comes. Then long tap power off button. That will give you the option of booting into safemode.

Try the safe mode:
1. With the device powered on, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Phone options prompt appears then release.
2. Touch and hold Power off until the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt appears then release.
3. Tap RESTART.
-The restart process may take up to 45 seconds to complete.
- Upon restart, Safe mode appears in the lower-left of the unlock/home screen.
4. With Safe Mode enabled, test device and app functionality.

My firmware is the TPH (Portugal)
Systemui was a problem for me. I fixed. I just get in the configuration and change the stock theme for another one. Use the blink to get to the configuration ---> theme

You are talking about different thing.. This thread is about system UI not Touchwiz home...
Hello everyone!
I dont know if someone already posted this thread, but I'm a bit desperate now. Here is my problem.
A few days ago I was sliding through Facebook, when my phone screen just turned upside down and backwards.
1) Restarted the phone - NOTHING.
2) Rooted and tried to modify a line in system folder (rotation) that everyone said would solve the problem, but the line doesn't eve exist.
3) Factory reset and flashed stock firmware- NOTHING.
4) Tried updating screen firmware through MMI/USSD code, but phone refuses to execute codes.
Rtl layout is not on just so we're clear.
Screenshot is normal. The controls are the same, but the picture is upside down, so I would'nt say it's a hardware problem.
Any suggestions before I replace the damn screen?

That is kind of weird, unfortunately I have nothing to advice that you didn't perform previously , I think the best thing to do is to send it to customer service :/
In my opinion it is a software issue and changing the screen won't resolve it
Weird.
Is it revered in fastboot or recovery too?
This would highlight if it's a screen issue or ROM software...

Give it a try flashing another firmware via dload... May that could help..
Ok, we have a brealthrough! I flashed a few new firmwares, and when I flashed the last one the picture went to normal orientation, but now the screen is flickering and blinking and going bananas.

LOL.. those are really strange issues..
Downgrade your phone to marshmellow.. Try flashing marshmallow firmware.. If it went back to normal upgrade to nougat via OTA.
Holy crap it's back to normal. I went to developer options and disabled HW overlay. Apparently CPU and GPU were ''fighting'' over who's going to control the screen. So for anyone who has the same issue as me, and none of the solutions I mentioned in the first post help- flash stock firmaware/firmwares, and if the problem persists, disable HW overlay. Thanks a lot guys
EDIT - Oh and flashing firmware via dload worked like a charm. Thanks hassanjavaid8181
