Hey guys and gals,
Two days ago I have changed ROM on my Note 4. Because of that, I needed to reset my Gear S2, because it was a new phone for it. At least I could restore my settings for smartwatch, so all apps began to download and after like an hour it finished.
But there is a problem - today I tried to download new apps form Store, but all the time I only see ' o,oo kB/ >total size< ' or 'connecting' if I open the app page. I have tried to restore default settings on the watch - even worse, because now I cannot download anything at all. Not a watchface nor app. Have You occurred problem like that before?
At first I thought it is a problem with WiFi (in the hotel there is a additional page to log in with some data). But I plugged the ethernet cable to the laptop and tether internet via WiFi, so no password nor additional data were needed for downloading (on both Note 4 and Gear S2) That didn't help. The connection to the internet was there thought.
Below You can see a movie with the problem (sorry for the poor quality, needed to record with my MacBook camera since the phone is the only thing that can record in good quality during my business trip abroad).

Hopefully someone here can answer this question. I am pretty sure I have a "Smart Watch Addiction". I love my Samsung Gear watch (original) as well as my new Gear 2 and I have a NEO as-well. WHY??? Well I keep the original because I like the build quality and the Android options on the original, I like the Orange Neo I just picked up for the color and the Gear 2 is just cool with the metal and new placement of the camera and speaker. And I don't know about the rest of you but after using a smart watch for awhile it is really hard to go back to a regular watch once you get used to the notifications. So now to my question: When I want to switch from one watch to the other I power off the first watch which is currently connected. Once it shuts down I power on the watch I want to currently connect with. Once it is powered up I open up gear manager and it shows no watch is currently connected. If I tap the top of the screen it has a "+" and it says the current gear will be disconnected. I am ok with that since I am wanting to connect to the other gear...I hit ok and then it shows currently paired devices in gear manger. I see all 3 watches listed. If I tap say the orange Neo it will show a message: Your Gear will be reset to the factory default settings. All the settings and downloaded applications data related to your gear will be deleted and the Gear will be reconnected to the mobile device. If I touch "OK" it proceeds to totally erase the watch I am trying to connect to and it does eventually connect but takes over 5 minutes. I tried unparing the device first and made it visible then searched for new devices and it finds the watch but once again want to reset it. Does anyone know a way to basically swap between multiple gear watches without resetting the watch each time? I have tried uninstalling gear manager and reinstalling I have rebooted both devices. I have a Note 3. Any help or suggestions is appreciated.
Wow. I just asked the same thing before seeing this post. I bought two Neos in different colors and have the same problem. If you let it reset the watch it will then offer to restore it from backup, which it does, but not everything gets restored and you have to find and redownload everything that is missing. Then more often than not, it hangs up at the end of the restore and you have to reboot the watch. Takes an hour to go from my black one to my orange one. Aarrgggh.

did you guys figure it out?
Ok, I have had the Sony SmartWatch 2 for about 6 months now and it has worked great for me until I got a new phone. I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S4 to a Galaxy S5. When I did this, I wiped the watch completely and reinstalled all the apps to the phone in which the apps pushed a new firmware to the phone, this was to allow for the 3 watch faces. Once I did that, the watch/phone connection works great, untill...I disconnect the bluetooth connection between the phone/watch for an extended period of time. I am not sure how long extended is but from the time I get home at night until I get ready to go to work the next morning is what I have been doing lately. Once I get up and get ready, I turn bluetooth back on and the phone will not connect to the watch and the Sony SmartConnect app starts to crash. The only way to get this to work again is to wipe the watch and reconnect all over again.
I went through yesterday and uninstalled all the apps, including the SmartConnect and the Smatwatch2 app needed to connect the watch, re-paired the two together and it worked until this morning when it failed again.
Any ideas? I really don't want to have to scrap the watch for something newer.
Thanks.
I went from S3 to S5. I notice that sometimes the watch is unable to reconnect to the phone until I restart Bluetooth on the phone. Also, I am using the previous watch firmware (hacked version allowing overdraw of watch widgets). Maybe you could try this version and see if that works?
Where can I download the firmware you are talking about? I have tried to restart bluetooth on the phone and that doesn't help. Seems like whatever has happened, the fact that Sony SmartConnect is crashing is causing the majority of the problem. Once that crashes, I can't get anything to work.
The most easy is to clear cache on the 2 android app -> SmartConnect and Smartwatch2.
After unpair and clear device on phone, on watch setup reinit watch. All this at one time.
Ok, cleared the cache on both the SmartWatch SW and the Sony SmartConnect apps then I unpaired the watch from the phone. I was able to repair it and get it to connect. I had to re setup my watch faces and my background but it looks like everything else is working.
Now, the big question is later today when I disconnect the watch from the phone and then come back a few hours later to reconnect it, will it reconnect or will it fail and if it fails, I can't see clearing the cache every time as the final solution to fix this.
Any ideas to consider if it fails again?
Thanks.
Use only one watchface perso with widget and 2 other as original in first time.
I noticied that have much problem with my SW2 when I load a lot of personalized face. All face fill the SW2 memory and there are some issue with memory. Before my SW2 rebooted often. Now I try to see with simple face and no more problem since this.
I just recently got an iPhone 8+ ( )after being an Android owner for years and initially had no problems with it and my watch. After the IOS 12 update, my phone was having a problem with the battery draining, so I did a complete wipe and reset of it last night. The watch worked fine on 12 before the reset. This morning I tried to install an app and a few watch faces and the Samsung app will not let me. When I hit "install", I get a message on the app saying to "check gear". On the watch, it is asking to connect to a wifi network. I have it set to auto, which is how it has always been. I tried setting it to on all the time, and verified it was connected, but I get the same message when trying to install apps. I tried removing and reinstalling the app, but that made no difference. I really do not want to reset the watch due to the fact that there is no apparent way to backup my watch faces, and I have about 20 of them!
Has anybody else ran into a problem like this?
Never mind! I figured it out. Was just a dumb error om my part!!
GM all. I had been having trouble with my GW4 LTE (non-classic) not recognizing my home WiFi password, when it had been for many months. I have a Note 20 5G and I'm on the Android 12 Beta. So I wrote to the Beta community and he said to delete the Gear Wear an on the watch, reinstall from the Play Store, and I mistook it for saying to remove it on the phone. Now, when I try to reconnect with the GW4, it says it will delete everything and pair as a new phone/watch. The auto backup unfortunately DID NOT save ANY backups. I have a ton of watch faces that I bought (I know I should be able tor reinstall from Play Store), some watch faces that I created (I may be able to get back), but other data that I know will be lost.
Anybody know of a way to re-connect but preserve the data. There are ways to do it with Wear OS 2, but NOT Wear OS 3. My Tizen watches were not affected and I was able to save all my Samsung Health data to my GW3. Any help, thoughts, would be greatly appreciated.
hello, yes that would be good. i reinstalled wear plugin and wear app due to latest bug on plugin app now cant connect same phone to watch. it stuck at 80-90% during setup. Dont wanna reset the watch before getting my data. No solution?
I finally gave up and reset the watch and paired it again. All is well now. This time did an immediate backup after I tweaked everything I wanted. I will try to now remember to back up at least once a week. Happy Holidays everyone!
It all has to do with the "Galaxy Watch4 Plugin". If you're having any issues syncing between phone and watch. If you end up having to reinstall it then you'll have to reset your watch too. Make sure you backup!
Hello, i've got a non Samsung phone. Recently there has been a bug with recently released gw4 plugin app. Bug is that wear app force prompt user to update the app although its already up to date so wear app doesnt open and watch cant connect to phone.
Reinstalled the wear app and plugin apps on watch. During pairing setup stage "Getting your watch ready" it always stuck at 80-90% and doesnt complete setup so watch cant connect to phone. Cleared cache on watch via recovery menu but didnt help. Tried connecting another phone but watch doesnt allow it without factory resetting. I dont want to reset watch as i have some health and watch settings data on it that hasnt been backed up yet. There is an adb trick to connect wearos watches to another phone without resetting but seems like it doesnt work with wearos 3. Cant manually pull the data from watch via wifi debugging either because it's not rooted. Any solution would be much appreciated. Cheers
