Hello guys I work at Sprint and I'm a good friend with a Technician and he showed me a way to get unlimited hotspot without root. Im not sure if this is something everybody already knows about but I am not taking any credit just sharing it.
"The steps:
Go to Dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Press "Edit" then enter your MSL.
Click on APN Settings
For both "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" changeAPN Type from "default, mms" to "default, mms, dun"
After you enter the change, hit Menu -> Save before going to the next APN.
And that's it. That easy. It works for both Hotspot and USB tethering. Seems too easy, but that's all I had to do.
Back out of everything then reboot. And quit updating your profile. "
The only trick is getting the MSL code. All you really have to do is go to a Sprint Store and ask for it.

Hi,
I think i may have found a solution to the LTE options disappearing after a new ROM installation... but i need some developers to help out.
Download this app (i am not associated with this app in any way, but it helps to solve this problem)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Toggle&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Run the app > place the 4G toggle on > bring down the notification bar > push the 4G button and it will bring up a menu hidden deep within the phones system settings somewhere. You want to scroll down the page of text to get to the menu where it says "SET PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE" and select LTE/GSM/CDMA
Basically, this app allows you to access the full settings for your phones. Basically, this IS the solution to the LTE disappearing problem
Thing is, i am not a developer. I have no idea how to access this menu without using this application. Maybe someone else with more skill might be able to extract the method that is used and turn this into a simplier method which would mean we no longer have to re-install stock ROMS to get LTE back....
Cheers

I believe the normal TW Samsung ROMs should have some kind of "Phone Info" menu - similar but not exactly the same as that one...

There is a fix for lte option thats already out. As long as your phone is rooted with cwm recovery.
I am assuming that your talking about the network Mode and selecting lte.

There is an issue. On stock sammy roms where people have flashed a custom rom. But the option to select lte mode was not available to them.
The fix just enabled the option so they could select lte. But this was on a stock Sammy rom. Not on a aosp rom.
So are you saying on the google version you dont have access to the mobile network menu?

This happens if you toggle '2G networks' on mobile networks.
Did using this app fix it? I guess when you toggle it, the ROM incorrectly sets the mobile network state to GSM/WCDMA only, instead of LTE/WCDMA.

That explains a lot. Yea, the only way to fix it was using that app. I hope it's fixed when they release 4.3 for the Google Editions.

Glad i could help.
It was becoming an annoying problem for me, since i like to try new ROMs and stuff regularly. I was losing LTE connectivity all the time. The best solutions people had come up with was to reflash a "Stock" ROM then the corresponding ROM that i wanted afterwards. But that was just becoming tiring and took far more time than it should have.

I already added it the way I mentioned and have been using it successfully to force LTE. This is only for GE ROMs, since we're the ones that have problems with LTE "disappearing".
TW may need your method instead.

Because unfortunately most carriers block Google wallet from allowing you to use the tap to pay feature because they are backing Isis.

You don't need to be rooted to get it to work now. The new sim that came with the GN3 has the required secure element for Isis to work. They have even added a new prepaid card that you use to link your checking account or debit card. They are even giving you a free $20 credit.

6. close XPrivacy
7. Open ISIS and setup.
All these steps are assuming you are rooted and have given access to all the apps from above steps. Otherwise ISIS works if you are not rooted anyway. Hope I helped.

I dont know about tw acting crazy unless u enabled XPrivacy on tw launcher which i dont know if you can even do that. If you have been trying some of these other mods you could have partially messed up your root. Do you get any messages at the bottom of the screen when u enable XPrivacy module in xposed launcher? If so what is the message it should always read something but if it worked properly it will say something like access will be granted after reboot. I use very lil tweaks there are only a few things i cant do without.

For those who are rooted while on the 20c AT&T KitKat update and are missing the ability to tether, this is for you!
Using the app SQLite Editor by Speed Software you can use these quick steps to enable tethering.
1) Under SQLite Editor find the app "Settings Storage (com.android.prodivers.settings)"
2) Hit "settings.db"
3) Hit "system"
4) Search for the term "tether" in all fields
5) Set the vale of "tether_entitlement_check_state" to 0
6) Enjoy your ability to set up a mobile hotspot!

You need to have already attempted to activate the Tether process under Settings/Networks/Tethering & Networks or else "tether_entitlement_check_state" won't show up in the settings.db. I struggled a while before I figure it out and finally got "tether_entitlement_check_state" to show up this way..
If its not show, you can add it to settings.db and set to "0" works fine

Does anyone know what HTC setting number powersave is? I would like to enable it by using Sq editor and changing the values for quick_settings_items. So that powersave can be a toggle in quick settings. Any help in finding the number would also be appreciated.

I saved this from my evolte days.
I also used same method on my m7
If this helped you please hit the thanks button.

. In 4 years I never have had it not work. You put the capital letters where I said to? Did it not work for anyone else?
I never just had root before without system rewrite able. But it should still work. It definitely is the way to get rid of the icon.

Didn't work for me the first time I tried it, and I haven't gotten around to trying it again.

I wish this worked, but it unfortunately does not. This does go to show that the feature is there, yet deliberately disabled by Verizon, Sprint, an ATT.

It appears to work but there are 1 or 2 other threads about this that have confirmed it to be borked

Correct, though this was not my find, here's a couple screen shots showing the perceived reason for it's failing. The entry that is believed to enable the actual functionality, in the \system\csc\feature.xml is set to "false", and being that the the feature.xml file is "read only", we kinda need root access to modify it.

I'd say you were lucky to find the one person within Verizon that would bring you even that close to setting it up. That person is clearly over-qualified to be working at Verizon.

I can confirm it works on my Sprint Model Rooted Galaxy S5.
I followed the OP's instructions:
1. I Downloaded and installed any cut apk
2. I Opened app and clicked new shortcut
3. I Clicked activity
4. I Scrolled down to "download booster" and created a shortcut.
I now have a shortcut to toggle download booster on/off.
I toggled it on and got the 4G/WIFI symbol next to the WIFI. I downloaded a movie and my speed was significantly faster.
Remember You have to have a 4G/LTE connection and be downloading a file larger than 30mb. It will not work with 3G.
