Hi all, previous LG E900 owner and current Omnia W owner.
Since there is no dedicated thread for this phone (why?!) I think this is the appropriate thread to post this.
As the title suggests, my phone has blurry lines on screen. Like a burn in or something. Imagine you have a dirty window after a rain but with vertical grainy lines. I cant actually express it better and I do not have a good camera to take a photo of this.
The lines do not move as the images and colors move. They are static. The problem is heavily apparent on gray background. Worst exhibits are on the keyboard and on the numeric pad of the phone app, right there where you press numbers to make a call. Also, it is clearly visible on lower brightness, not so much on higher but still there. It is also visible on other colors too, even bright ones like red and lime.
After googling it I found out that many Samsung Galaxy S and S2 users have experienced this problem, even on newly bought phones. Many exchanged them, others learnt to live with it. So as far as I understand its some kind of defect on these screens and it really is a matter of luck what you get.
Any ideas on the matter? Any owner of this phone that experiences the same problem?
Let me state that I dont have a screen protector on the screen, yes I have cleaned it like a hundred times in the two days that I have it in my hands.
Please, try to avoid answers like its banding of colors or dust under screen and such. I have used LCD and AMOLED screens alot these past 2 years and this is the first time I see this.
Regards,
cybernouris
I have this problem too. It's a pain in the ass, I don't know why and how to fix it. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S Advance, I've decided to open a thread today, like you, because no one reported the same problem. It's like a minor issue for anyone but it's clear that something is wrong with these Super Amoled screens, for me it's a real problem because it takes value from the phone and of course I think it's a piece of junk. I wouldn't be able to sell it on the price that I want it, imagine the deal...
Ok, if anyone knows what a heck is going on I'm gonna be more than thankful.
This problem has occurred with both my hubby's and my MT4GS, out of the blue, and with two different software versions. Hubby's phone is the original 1.28.531.9 software, stock/rooted/s-off via Revolutionary method. Mine is software 1.63.531.2 710RD, unlocked via HTC's unlocker and stock/rooted/s-on. Hubby's phone hasn't required any repair, while the mainboard was replaced on mine at the beginning of February (this was HTC's solution to a sudden display failure, and they decreed it off-warranty, so I essentially had to pay for my phone again to get it repaired). The only other difference between our phones is I started using a Mugen 1800 mAh battery at the start of this week; Hubby's is still on a stock battery.
The pink spot in the middle of the camera's viewfinder suddenly appeared on both our phones, and it outright ruins any photos. Lighting is not an issue with either phone: the spot or "wash" of pink appears even in bright indoor light and with the flash. Below is an example of a of a white wall in our townhouse in bright light. And yes, that is a white wall.
I haven't tried a factory reset with either phone, and wanted to find out if that even had a possibility of affecting this problem before I committed to the work involved (restoring data afterward, redebloating). Warranty repair, even if the only option, would be a huge PITA, as we rely on our phones for communication when I'm out in the field for work purposes. I'm also leery of HTC declaring this an off-warranty repair, simply because our phones have been rooted and I've used their unlocker--which makes no sense in this situation, but they've done it to me with my previous repair.
I guess what I'm looking for here is the cause of this camera error, and if a warranty repair (we have till October on these phones) is the only real option for addressing the problem. Very disillusioned by the performance of our phones, given their relative age, what we paid for them initially, and the care we've both taken to keep them in good condition. Any info/replies appreciated, as a Web-wide search did not yield any truly useful assistance.

Did you try other camera apps? I would assume a hardware problem, but I always assume a hardware problem. Best to try and install a different rom before buying a camera though.

Trying another camera app implies that HTC's camera software has failed, and I believe this to be highly unlikely, as HTC's software provides the best results for the hardware. I have yet to encounter camera software capable of delivering the same caliber of results as what was written by HTC for the MT4GS, however, I haven't reviewed everything that's available. I'd be hesitant to try this if I could be making the problem worse or muddying the waters.
As to a different ROM, wouldn't performing a factory reset accomplish the same thing? Both hubby and I are content with stock on our phones and not interested in a different format. And, to my knowledge, most ROMs not based on MT4GS stock either have problems with the camera or don't deliver the same results with image quality. An HTC Sensation owner, when experiencing this same camera problem, tried a number of different ROMs to no effect (apologies, I don't have the web link to that forum handy).
Hardware problem is the most logical conclusion, but two separate phones? At the same time? I'm searching for a concrete method of troubleshooting this problem without introducing more variables into the equation.
Thanks for the suggestions, though --

Im 99.98% sure this is hardware failure...
try to send it back to HTC and ask for a repair
i get weird issue with camera also... but it's is a bit different. Camera gets very grainy and colors get funky.
possible cause; installing some app that uses camera.
to fix; i copy the htc camera app, delete it from system/app reboot and reinstall.
In case you need new a new camera, Repairs Universe has replacement camera's for ~$17 plus shipping...

Yeah, that's why I was unsure of it being a hardware problem, especially since most HTC users just get a green or pink line going across the screen when using the camera. There was a fix for that somewhere, but I'm on my phone so I can't find the link lol. Perhaps it's related to your problem though.
As for best way to address, normally I go with easiest/cheapest possibilities first. Just makes sense to me that way. Look up the HTC camera fix if you get the chance.
Camera behavior of note that I didn't notice before: if I take a shot of that same white wall with the flash, the pink spot is not evident in the resulting photo. Sort of a moot point, since after doing some more searching and making a few inquiries, it seems that this pink wash camera error is the same as that experienced by Samsung Galaxy S II owners, and that has been defined as a hardware problem--specifically a poor alignment/manufacturing flaw with the camera lenses. Software updates did attenuate the problem for some GSII owners, but it never completely resolved it.
So, I'm resigned to the fact that the MT4GS camera has a similar design flaw, not as prevalent as the GSII's, but obviously there, and I'll just use it for utilitarian purposes. For photos that I want to keep, I'll look into a quality compact digital camera. I don't have the time at this point in my work schedule to try and repair our phones, nor can we afford the downtime of trying to get HTC to address it. Searching for "HTC camera fix" didn't yield anything constructive for the MT4GS, by the way.
Still really bummed about this --

HTC has had a camera defect for years with the pink spot. I spent over $1000 trying to get one without it. First the Nexus - you can read about it on their forums since 2010. Then the G2. Both were replaced twice. I spoke with HTC extensively because I need the camera for my business and NOTHING was resolved. I got the story it was a big mystery they knew nothing about. Then I googled and found previous cameras with the same complaints.
Every now and then you run across someone who got one without the defect with their replacement. But my FOUR phones all had it, regardless of any alleged software fixes. I am never buying another HTC phone and my next one or any brand, I will test in a store and hand it right back to the clerk if I get a pink spot.
3rd party apps did not resolve it. The only thing they do is allow you to cover it up with a layer of something like text or a sticker /sarc
Hello All,
I've searched the forums and found other instances of people reporting this, but no clear solution.
Pictures taken in 'normal' lighting seem to come out fine, however pictures taken with the camera's flash, tend to come out with a blue tint to them. See attached sample.
Tweaking the settings doesn't seem to resolve it, and others tend to think its hardware related (and to replace the phone).
Does anybody here have first hand experience with this? Is this a common problem with the skyrocket and similar model phones, or do I possibly have an issue with the phone itself?
Thanks in advance for any information and/or suggestions anybody can provide.
Best Regards,
G
Hello XDA,
Tryin to keep it short & sweet, bare with me please. I’m having this weird contrast dissimilarity across the display of my Galaxy S7. Some regions of the display are having dark contrast level and some being relatively high (making it bit white-ish), especially noticeable in dark colors or any grey shades.
Of course I did research around a bit before posting this and found lot of people having the exact issue and I don’t mean to create a duplicate thread.
Just want a little help from you guys, fellow Galaxy S7 users. I’ve linked to some images below which can easily show this issue if you have. This was used by someone else and was able to easily spot it without displaying a plain mono color image. So those who are even confident about not having this issue at all also can go ahead download & display the images on your display.
Please post the results here preferably pictures. Because I really doubt whether this issue is normal with AMOLED considering this is already my 3rd replacement but it disturbs me a lot seeing this with a 700$ phone.
**I have also linked my condition with an illustration since it’s hard to capture mine in camera.
Thanks a lot <3

Hi,
I'm new to this forum so apologies if this issue has been discussed before (I did a search but couldn't find anything.)
I've just bought a Huawei Watch 2 Classic and so far I've been very pleased with it, except for one thing. A day or two since I started using it, I noticed that on a grey background i.e. the one used for both the notification cards and the app menu, there's a sort of 'smudge' or unevenness to the screen at around the 10 O'Clock mark that's distracting. It's quite subtle and hard to describe (a cloud? bright patch? light bleed?) but once you've noticed it it's hard not to see it:
(I tried to post pictures of the problem here but I can't yet as I'm a new member)
It's always going to be difficult to take a picture of such an issue as the camera will correct for white balance, exposure etc but trust me it's more noticeable in person. In bright light it's also harder to see and is most noticeable at night or in dim light. To be completely honest, I can't see the issue on any other background or situation except when viewing notification cards or the app menu but I try not to go looking for it either.
All I want to know is am I being pedantic or should I be requesting a replacement?
Can you try and post pictures, I know .ay not be easy.
I haven't seen this issue but I've noticed the screen goes grey when on standby

I tried in every way possible to upload pictures or at least links to them but I can't as I'm a new member and therefore I have to make around 10 posts before I can publish any external links or pictures. I never got a response back from the forum owner requesting that I be able to do so either.
Perhaps when I've made a few more posts I'll upload the pictures for you to see, if only for future reference.
For information, I ended up sending it back for a full refund anyway - not necessarily because of the screen issue but because I couldn't see how it fit into my life. Also the supplier was out of stock for a replacement anyway so the choice was sort of made for me. I found it was actually more annoying having constant notifications on my wrist than on my phone, not to mention being socially unacceptable to have to keep looking down at my watch on a frequent basis. Unless these notifications were read or actioned as soon as they arrived, I found the interface to be too clunky to deal with them later which meant a lot of swiping and prodding, not an ideal experience.
Never mind, perhaps the smart watch market will mature in the not too distant future. I may well re-visit the idea at some point but for now I'll stick to a traditional timepiece.

actually when you get used to it you'll know that it's way better than traditional watches, you can see the weather and track your activities on your watch and listen to music without even taking your phone with you! and its getting way more normal in social life to have a smart watch specially when there are many people using apple watch right now that has a lot less features than android wear! (maybe not a lot but hey, its android!)
