Root for MRA58N 6.0? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If this is continuously asked I'm sorry, new to XDA and I cannot find any guides on rooting marshmallow. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Step 1: Unlock bootloader. (CAUTION: WIPES EVERYTHING!!!)
Step 2: Flash TWRP through fastboot.
Step 3: Flash a custom kernel, for example Hells Core.
Step 4: Flash SuperSU.zip.
Step 5: be happy

Full stock, no but you can use a modified stock version (not a real custom kernel like Hells, ElementalX...) in Chainfire's SuperSU thread.

There are some modified stock kernels that only add the root ability, I have one, but I don't remember its name.

Ah, yes, StephanMC has a kernel. It is stock, only with root capabilities.

[Q] No way to root XT1028?

Hello, I want to unlock bootloader XT1028.
I searched and found unlocking bootloader way with SunShine. but It needs to be rooted.
But current version of my device is 4.4.4, but pie root is not working on 4.4.4.
Is there any way to root this device?
thanks.
Hi. Try to unlock bootloader here and install CWM here, after, enter in recovery mode and flash SuperSu here.
You need to rollback to 4.4.2 first.

it doesnt matter what you are running. when you flash a factory img, you are erasing everything thats on your phone(your phone will be empty) and putting a new img on. you dont need to do anything else but follow the instructions.

Oh okay. In that case, download a custom rom of choice, Arter or SkyHIGH kernel, flash the latest twrp 3.0 for the GSM note 5 via odin, full wipe, flash rom and kernel.
Also if you're interested. Follow the steps above but flash this rom instead. It's the latest COKC but deodexed and rooted already, you just need a kernel.

I edited my post.
Basically if you want to stay stock rooted, download a supported kernel like the ones I suggested, find supersu latest beta (google), get twrp 3.0 for GSM note 5, get odin.
Now would be a good time to get an OTG usb drive to keep roms and kernels on as well as backups.
Follow these steps:
Put kernel and supersu on phone or otg
Put phone in download mode and use odin to flash twrp 3.0
Your phone will reboot into twrp.
Make a backup of your entire device in twrp
Flash kernel
Flash supersu
Reboot
You're now stock rooted.
If you just want to flash a custom rom.
Move rom and kernel to phone or otg
Put phone into download mode and flash twrp 3.0
Phone will reboot to twrp
Make a backup of your entire device in twrp
Wipe all but internal
Flash kernel and rom.
How now on custom rom

The kernel will not install root, it just allows root. That's where supersu comes in when you just want to be stock rooted.
To skip all those just flash twrp wroth odin and flash that rom I posted in the link above you quoted of me.

OL1 root

Hey all,
New to the S6 Edge. What root methods are currently available for this thing? I'm on OL1 and am not too concerned about tripping Knox, but if it could be avoided that's fine by me.
You can root using modified stock kernels with built in SuperSu. This one is most updated:

Also in that forum I just noticed A thread about Chain fire Auto Root working probably easier.
