[Completed] HTC M7 - Tried to root (Installed TWRP) but now phone won't boot - XDA Assist

I tried to use this guide to on htconeroot
Got to installing the zip for SuperSU v1.30
The phone rebooted but it said SuperSU failed
Tried to install Update Super SU v2.46
Phone no longer reboots. It shows the white HTC One loading screen but then just goes very dark grey forever.
I can still access the white menu that comes up when you hold volume down and power
Can also access the TWRP screen, however I tried factor reset there and it didn't change, it still won't boot.
Can't take out sd or battery as metal case
Anyway not sure if this is meant to be in the HTC M7 category, a TWRP category, Rooting one.
I'm not sure if it is because the guide was for 4.3 and on 5.02 or what.
I don't really care about it being rooted so much as having my phone back. The only reason I wanted it rooted was to install the camera change that is supposed to get rid of the green tint.
Anyway thank you for your time. And I appreciate any assistance that can be given. I have spent hours trying to figure it out, but I am still confused and figure I am likely to screw it up even more

Thanks, looked some up but i'm not sure how I would get a ROM on it. No SD card, and computer no longer recognizes it.

[Completed] Phone inoperable did nothing but followed steps.

Ok so I am unsure if someone is filtering out OLD topics but i keep coming across FORUM posts from people and it seems like they are getting no help or being referred to NON existent topics.
I just recently bought a HTC ONE M8 H/K from sprint. I have had android for a decade and am seriously tired of the ROOT it people. so I figured why not no down falls and everyone says it is easy. Well I am Murphy last name law and you people have not seen or know the things I am about to post
I recently spent over 32 hours watching video and preparing for ROOTING. I unlocked phone got Pilz touch recovery and everything worked fine. I even got CWM and SUPERSU and Busy box. all of which needed OTHER files to work properly. Again a few forced quits everything was fine.
I wanted to Switch to TWRP and the install didnt go through. however now I have BOOTloop. trust me this is the tip of the berg at this point.
Just short of finding NO help after another 24hrs binge session on the CPU and just shy of RUNNING MY PHONE OVER WITH A DAMN CAR>
I get oh so simple easy fix and the only posts I see are FIXED IT!!! so that helps me approximately as much as my phone helps me make phone calls currently.
After the boot loop SEVERAL friends versed in this so called ROOTING (which I still find to be a hoax and not actually possible by any means at this point and time.) and no one has any clue. Tried flashing ROMS RUU's everything comes back to NO will not work.
Then it brings me to the STOCK RUU config for the HK M8 which seemed like it was going to work through ADB flash but guess what. 2 hrs idle NOTHING. after that The recovery program dropped out and boot loader only stated RUU in the menu. (something never before logged in a forum or post as I can tell) after many attempts to do GOD KNOWS WHAT WITHOUT ANSWERS as i was about to smash my beautiful gold phone into a dozen tiny peices and claim accident the Recovery came back to...... You guessed it NOTHING. All directories are UNMOUNTED and cannot be mounted.
I am stuck. Seriously you all fix my phone or help i am willing to send gifts because I am out 700$ now on this nice paperweight but everything and everyone tells me. OH SO SIMPLE you have recovery it aint no thang.
Well guess what it is and I am tired of being so PISSED OFF for something that was so automated.
Again I am Murphy and what you attempt to get me to follow will come up with some REALLY weird repercussions I will post back.
Please oh mighty gods of ruining my life. Spare me this one thing I will never ask for another again.
How do I get my phone to just WORK, Simple. Right?
Hi there! I think I found a thread that can get you back on track. Please read every word carefully and follow every step. If you have further trouble or want to clarify anything, please ask in the thread. They know the device best and can help you I'm sure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646
I'm afraid that is the extent of what we do in the XDA Assist Section. We are guides...pointing people in the right direction when they can't find what they are looking for. Unfortunately we don't do hands on support in this section, so as I said....if you need a further hand, I am sure someone in the thread I linked can help.
And make sure anything you download and flash is for your model. And as always, do a Nandroid backup in recovery... before flashing anything new....it can be a lifesaver to help restore you when you hit trouble.
Good luck!
Details
Let me re iterate.
All guides are demanding S-Off (cannot as I cannot acess phone apps to do so)
All guides need HOME access for apps to modify certain things
I cannot:
Push packet through adb as they are unreadable
Get past boot screen
Recovery is only 40% operational with visibilty of phone only working sometime.
Cannot flash
Cannot push
Cannot fastboot
Cannot see device on CPU as it is stuck in recovery
ALL DIRECTORIES in /SDCARD have been removed
No Firmware
No RUU
No img
As far as I can tell.....Phone is empty and cannot be populated with anythin. I did manage to get SuperSu pushed through and installed. But how do I open it?
No ROOT access as well in the recovery.
I followed ALL STEPS of EASY guides even downloaded one button app that runs it all for me. Can't talk to phone does not see it in ADB.
The other guide I went to was helpful but I have already attempted all of those things.
With an empty phone NO DATA and no ability to get ADB to even run data over cable I am baffled.
I did exactly like the 500 guides i read said.
1) bootlock unlock
2)instal recovery (Philzmod)
3) get CWM (retrieved from playstore) Need a .zip to run in ADB
Phone worked fine until I changed from Philz mod to TWRP which never took place. Philz mod still runs but TWRP said it installed.
Now I have a completely worthless empty phone and I have cried about a tub worth of tears over the 700 i will be dropping over the next year for a piece of metal.
Oh and 99.9% of time if ADB DOES do something either no directory once pushed, cannot read or cannot FIND/Open directory stating BAD installation aborted I NEED a better recovery
I understand your frustration. Not a fun situation at all.
As I said, XDA Assist is here to help navigate the website. Not to troubleshoot I'm afraid.
The purpose of XDA Assist... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768
The very best place to ask for help in your situation is right here, in the Q&A section for your device... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768
The people there know your device best. Start a thread that's to the point, polite and accurate....what is exactly wrong, and the exact steps you took to get there. And hopefully help will follow.
Hope it can be solved for you!

[Completed] HTC Vivid won't boot, possibly after build.prop change

Hello,
Pretty new to rooting, tried to root my HTC Vivid to install some apps which are "incompatible" with my device. Unlocked bootloader and rooted successfully by installing TWRP recovery and installing the supersu zip. After copying the build.prop file to another folder I proceeded to make some minor changes to the build.prop file with ES File Explorer. Essentially changing the model ID of the phone to another device to try to prompt Google Play to show the incompoatible apps, didn't touch anything boot-related or anything else. Phone was working fine at that point, rebooting ok, but Google Play still showed the apps as incompatible, so I temporarily brought back the old build.prop file by copy/pasting it from the folder I made. The system indicated the copy was made successfully, and I tried to reboot once more. That is where the problem started.
When the power button is pressed for a second or so, the phone vibrates once and shows the starting splash screen (HTC) as it did when working, and then the screen goes blank, although the LED backlight is still on (so phone has power). Nothing comes after, no "HTC quietly brilliant" logo nor the chime that indicates it's booting up. At that point it stops responding to any stimulus except the removal of the battery, at which point the LED backlight finally goes off. Waiting for ~10min solved nothing, still blank black screen with backlight on. Upon reinserting the battery, the phone once again responds to the power button, with the same results.
I can boot to recovery by holding down Vol down and pressing power, and there I get the usual options including Fastboot, Recovery, etc. I tried doing a factory reset. It gives a bunch of error messages along the lines of "can't mount emmc", then says it's starting the reset, and gives a successful completion prompt after half a minute or so. However, that seems to do nothing at all to fix the problem (tried 4x times, with SD card in and out).
The only change that comes to mind is the last replacement of the build.prop file I did, which should have just restored the original. Assuming the factory reset doesn't actually reset that file (where would it get a copy to do so?) perhaps it being broken is preventing me from booting after the reset. Just my theory though, and could be something else.
From what I understand I could try putting a recovery image on the micro sd from a PC, then doing a recovery rather than a factory reset from the TWRP menu to replace all the files, including the potentially problematic build.prop. However, I didn't make a backup of the system before this happened (learning experience) and have no such image. Could anyone perhaps point me to a clean image for the Vivid that I could download and flash to my phone with recovery? Or otherwise shed some light on what could be causing the problem? I also realize there are various unbricking tutorials online, but after many hours of this I'm a bit too exhausted to follow all of those just to see if they work or not.
Edit: Upon further research I realize I can try to flash a new rom to the Vivid, but no matter how much I search I can't find a working link for a stock ICS .zip. There is a RUU .exe file from HTC but my phone can't get past fastboot, so I'd need to do this with a zip file. Anywhere I can get a working one? I could also try a custom rom, I just have 0 knowledge of those so don't know which would be a safe bet.
Would appreciate any help, and hope the post isn't overly long. Tried to give as much info as I could. I already spent a ton of time on both the root procedure and trying to fix this and would really like to hear professional opinions before breaking anything else. Thanks for reading.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to get help is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-vivid They are the experts on your device. You may have already seen this but it's a good place to start, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486024 If it were me I'd return the device to stock and start over. If you're messing with your phone you will want to be comfortable on how to return it to stock as you'll probably have to do that more than once as you learn more about your device.

Thanks for the advice, I basically got into rooting from scratch a day ago, so many resources I don't know about. Trying to return to stock, but I need a rom of the stock in .zip form since the phone can't get past recovery, and having trouble finding that. Perhaps due to age of phone, but most links to those seem to no longer be functional.

Actually u shouldnt have rooted with that zip file containing supersu u actually should have done it with kingo root. anyway, the best waty to revive it is to install cyanogenmod. download the version for ur device and google how to install cyanogenmod. this will give a new life to ur phone. hope it helps.

Right, I basically learned as I went along for this root, haven't even heard of kingo before. I was very careful, but apparently something still went wrong. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that mod and see if it works.
Edit: I'm only finding a nightly build for the Vivid on the CyanogenMod website, with no stable versions. Nightly build is dated two years ago, so clearly no stable versions coming. While I'm in no position to be picky, and I'll try it if needed, I'd rather not break what's still functioning in my phone. Any mods out there that are stable for the Vivid?
Edit2: the nightly cyanogen build seems to have brought the phone back online, but besides the different look and feel from what I'm used to, it doesn't seem to have Google Play... so I can't download anything. It also isn't seen by HTC Sync so I can't run the RUU from there, but I did successfully extract the rom.zip file using some instruction on this forum from the stock ICS RUU .exe. However, installing that from twrp recovery fails as it cannot open the zip, and an attempt to use the "fastboot flash zip rom.zip" command fails saying it's not allowed. Integrity of zip fail is tested to be ok with an archiver program. The zip file extracts properly, and I can flash things like boot.img and recovery_signed.img to the phone, yet system.img cannot be flashed (data length too large error). Not sure what to try next.

[Completed] Getting back to stock android

I bought a 2nd hand SM-G920F. It was rooted and I really prefer an unrooted device to get the OTA. Anyhow, I went to unroot the device and it didn't go so well. It bombed right at the very end of the odin step. So I ran it again with the same rom. No luck. Right now I have a fairly expensive paperweight. I can get it to boot into recovery and download modes. I have TWRP installed on the damn thing, but the touchscreen isn't working. I can move files around with adb and fastboot, but I can't really get it do anything. I keep getting the waiting for devices thingy. It appears as if there's no OS on the phone right now, just a file structure that I can manipilate thru an adb shell. Any help would be appreciated.

[Completed] Cant seem to find a way to boot recovery my ''Clone S7'' after reboot. :(

I will be as specific as I can in order to save time
So I was in need of a cheap phone and always liked the look of the S7 since release. It came today but there was very little internal memory so I decided to root the device via ''Kingo Root'' in order to install an app called FolderMount. The app was meant to merge my SD card memory with my Internal Memory allowing me to install apps without a problem. As far as I can tell the root stage went fine, it said successful, rebooted and SuperSU worked a treat.
When I installed FolderMount it claimed the patch it applied was successful and my phone just needed to reboot in order to apply. So I rebooted and then it was stuck on the boot logo :crying: I have tried every combination to boot it into recovery in order to do a hard reset but nothing seems to work. No matter what button combination I seem to use the device to reboots, I have searched the all over the web for a solution but because it is a clone phone and its origins are unclear finding a relevant solution has being a nightmare.
So I have decided to turn to you fine folks in a hope someone could point me in the right direction. I will post everything about the phone I know below and if anybody has some suggestions that would be great.
Thanks guys
