i've been trying to unbrick this thing for hours after failed root attempt....i'm trying to use rsd lite to flash back to stock.....i now have access to fastboot and recovery and whatnot.... i cant seem to find the firmware i need to unbrick it. the latest i can find is su6-7.2! if someone found su6-7.3 i feel like that would fix it and id be so happy!!!!!!!rsd fails with 7.2
Su6-7.3 is just the security update.
Just use fastboot to flash the partitions with su6-7.2, you will get the update notification after you're up and running.
I had issues with rsdlite and my ultra when I had it.
Look for Minimal adb and fastboot, you will also need mfastboot to flash the system partition, as its too big for fastboot to handle. If you need instructions on how to manually flash the device, a quick search will reveal easy to follow directions.

ok cool im going to try mfastboot now fyi my bootloader is locked still
You're flashing a stock firmware which is signed for the device, so the bootloader being locked isnt problem.
Also mfastboot is used for the system.img to the system partition, you can use fastboot for the other img's.

Unless you can find the individual files somewhere the firmware zip file that you have is all you got. I downloaded and extracted that same file no more than 2 weeks ago, and nev

No problem. Just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650 and read the section on how to flash the FXZ. make sure to look at the bottom part where it tells you to replace some files. you will need to do that. Instead of using the ATT FXZ file like they say use the one that matches your current version (SEARET I think you said) and follow the same directions, but use that file instead. Get if from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php

can i should replace some file in above zip? because my phone is 2.3.6
Code:
How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5, ONCE YOU UPDATE TO THE OTS 2.3.6 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FLASH THE 2.3.5 FXZ WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS BELOW!!
NOTE: Download this file HERE -
Unzip it and move all the the items in it to the stock fxz. You might get a warning about replacing files, just click OK. NOTE that Windows might not be able to handle the size of the fxz. I have 6 GB RAM but Windows still wasn't able to perform a drag-and-drop through the fxz's zip. I recommend that you just unzip the fxz and then put the files in. (You don't have to rezip it either, RSD Lite will still recognize it and will flash faster).
You should be able to use RSD Lite to flash the file.

Yeah, I was being stupid. Was the phone originally ATT when you bought it, or was it indian. that makes a big difference. you need to know what it said under settings > about phone.
anyways this should fix it, just use which ever fxz is right (from my post in the noob thread:
just thought of an easier way to get you restored. Most of the time you only really need to do system. download the moto-fastboot utility (it's similar to normal fastboot but you MUST use it instead or it will not work) and the fxz for your region. Extract the fxz and put the system.img from it and moto-fastboot in the same folder. open a command prompt in that folder (hold shift and right click) and type
Code:
moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img
moto-fastboot.exe erase userdata
obviously you need to have your phone in fastboot mode to do that. it does the exact same thing as rsd, just only the 2 important steps, flashing system and wiping data.)
Let me know how that works for you. It may not since you have had flash failures, but we'll see.
moto-fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=635584&d=1308928440 you should actually extract it and put all the things in it in the folder with system.img
Good luck!

Flashed my atrix 2 and fastboot fail
I bought my atrix 2 from US and unlocked it and am using this in india now. I tried to flashboot the phone with "5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET_cfc.xml". I added the new files thats available in the noob called replace.zip. I also tried the moto fast boot. Now am not able to flashboot and when i run flashboot i get this error "failed flashing process. 11/21 flash ebr "ebr"-> Phone returned fail; Phone connected" .
Please help me.
I just got my ATT Atrix 2 and I think I've already bricked it, soft at least. I used a script to go from 2.3.6 back to 2.3.5 stock, then OTA to 2.3.6, then I flashed the ICS leak and flashed SCV7, it was running horribly, kept crashing and was being extremely unstable so then I tried to use the FXZ script to go from ICS back to GB, and all my phone was doing was showing the Motorola dual core screen and boot looping or just staying on that screen I couldn't tell. I can get into fastboot, when I try to get into recovery there is an icon of a box with an arrow coming out of it and a little android and a yellow progress bar and when that finishes it goes to fastboot and it says "AP FastBoot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure) what can I do?
---------- Post added at 07:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 PM ----------
The battery is low going by my luck I'm going to assume the phone will not charge while in fast boot. I've been at this for way too many hours, if someone could tell me how to get this phone working I'd appreciate it.
Here it is for those who need it. I needed it to flash my phone back to stock. The update that was pushed out recently would not work on my rooted phone because I was using a UK rom when I rooted it so I need a stock ('merica) AT&T Status rom that no one seemed to have for any reason. I found the latest update on the HTC website and downloaded their installer, and that failed too. It wouldn't authorize... So into the trash InstallShield exe I went a digging and riped this out of the .cab
I used fastboot to flash the userdata.img, system.img, boot.img and recovery.img to my Status. Rebooted and did a factory reset. SUCCESS. :good:

Haven't seen anything new yet.
Just pulled this from HTC's website:
"HTC Status™ for AT&T ROM Update | 05.3.2012
Starting May 3rd 2012, HTC will be rolling out a system update for the HTC Status.
This update will only be available for AT&T HTC Status customers and will be sent to the device over the air. Once the release is ready, users will receive a notification on their device advising them of this update and provide instructions to receive and install it. Users can proactively check for this update by going to Home > Menu> Settings > AT&T Software Update > Check for updates.
As an alternative solution, the system update can be downloaded to a PC and manually applied to the device. See the section at the bottom of these instructions for more information.
This system update includes:
Memory allocation fixes to improve low memory issues
Data throttling fix"
So the device is unrooted again?
Did they really solve the low memory issue?
---------- Post added at 09:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ----------
Please tell me how to download and flash the rom, thanks.

First I used Universal Extractor to extract the files properly from htc_status_mr_update_2.14.502.2_us.exe, because of it being an Install Shield installer. Once it extracted the files in the correct structure I then had to use ZIP Scan on the data1.cab file because Install Shield uses its cab format and very few programs can export them correctly. Once you extract data1.cab you will have all that you need.

I have the same exact problem, however it also occurs when I try to install the zip directly from CWM...perusing the other threads it seems as though it's an issue with BusyBox overwriting some files in /system/bin. For the life of me I cannot find how to correct this issue even though the it is repeatedly mentioned in the threads that is has been covered already. Seeing as I'm nearing my wits' end, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.:crying:

Just to clarify this is what I get when I try to install 4.1.1:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check
('/system/bin/gzip", "afdda757b27b444f525a0f41726d2c1a83012869", "5ba3b3ecd509cf6dcee37b2f27110310a1f55045")
E:Error in /cache/9ZGgDXDi.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Even flashing 4.0.4 vias CWM doesn't overwrite the problematic /system/bin files. I got as far as trying to flash a factory image of 4.0.4 but got too frustrated with the fastboot commands in Terminal on OSX.
Again, while not a total neophyte, I could really use some hand holding regarding this mess. Thanks in advance.
Bumping in hope that some kind soul can walk me through replacing the /system/bin files that were overwritten by busybox. Tried factory reset and reflashing the 4.0.4 OTA to no avail. I think that flashing a factory image of 4.0.4 would work but I can't figure that out. I'm on OS X for what it's worth.
I appreciate your time.
Flashing through fastboot is rather simple. Can't remember the exact Mac commands of top of my head. But they are basically the same just fastboot-mac or whatnot.
Anyways if that is really a issue/ don't wanna bother with it. Look for the full stock ROM for your device and flash that with cwm. Make sure you wipe the old rom off first.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I dl'ed the factory image for my device (I9020T) from the developers/google site but couldn't get the ./flash-all.sh script to run. I then took the image.zip file from the factory tgz file and tried to flash it via CWM but got installation aborted/ Error 7 as well. Seems to be the only way to overwrite the system/bin filed that BusyBox replaced is to flash a factory image via fastboot.
Is there a way in which I can replace the problematic system/bin files that are preventing me from installing JB without flashing a stock factory image? And if there isn't, could I get some help with the Terminal commands for getting the /.flash-all.sh script to run on Mac?
Thanks again for your help and patience.
Those images are not mean to flashed through any recovery.
You can ignore that script. Extract what you have downloaded until you are left with ALL .img files. You should have system.img boot loader, radio, and userdata.img
Flash them one at a time with fastboot. Can't remember the exact Mac command but its fastboot flash system system.img etc for windows. Just look it for Mac. Think its fastboot-mac then the command but not sure. I hate Macs.
This has Mac fastboot info in it. I hate Macs also

Edit: this has some info to help you also, I just change to Mac fastboot

Those two links were extremely helpful, thanks for that. I got as far as having all the requisite factory image files ready to be flashed in the same folder, but when I issue the command to flash the bootloader.img I get
Code:
-bash: ./fastboot-mac: Permission denied
.
Think I may have gotten a little over my head with this whole rooting business
For the record I am rooted and have an unlocked bootloader.

I solved the problem flashing this stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784497
Finally sussed it out as well! Thanks to all for the help. Flashing the stock ICS image allowed me to install the JB OTA - will never install the BusyBox from the market again.
Cheers again to all.
Hello,
I've been trying to install the ota.zip lollipop update by sideloading.
But it is aborting it because there are changes in a specific audio file (system/vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf)
could somebody please post the stock audio_effects.conf file for me?
Thank you very much.
edit: What I forgot to mention is that the changes were made by Viper4android.
Just flash a ROM.zip. simple

You can extract it from a KK ROM.zip then.
Hi! i´m having a similar problem but with another file: gps.conf.
first i will help you getting audio_effects.conf:
1) download google image file, to your device and version from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
2) extract all package files (tgz, tar, zip) until you have system.img
3) follow this tutorial to open the image and get the file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294909
now the problem:
I cant apply the 5.0 ota because my gps.conf is messed up. My bootloader is locked since i managed to get root with towelroot and lived fine with xposed.
Now even placing the stock gps.conf file and removing root, for some reason there a mismatch in the file and the ota fails.
Any suggestions?

Thats is such a long way round. Click the "guides and info threads" link in my signature. Go to section 6 (resources) download stock rom.zip. Extract
Although I also wrote a thread about learning to not waste time with pointless endeavours and how to update properly if rooted. That too is in my signature

re-root with towel root.
flash recovery with flashify
flash rom.zip
or
re-root with towelroot
unlock bootloader with bootunlocker
fastboot flash stock system.img
receive OTA (why?)

Could you refer me to said rom.zip? I've been looking for a while but I think my searching skills are a little bit subpar.
edit: Also looking into solution from Flitzjoy.
edit 2: Decided to use Flitzjoy's solution, as I already had the img on my pc. My nexus 5 is now happily booting into Lollipop!
Thank you both very much.

My method just worked, i was missing to correct file permissions after copying to /system.
Anyway, thanks rootSU I dont knew bootunlocker or flashify.

Would you be so kind to upload the file to some place? I have encountered the same problem and would be really happy if I didn't have to download the complete system image.

Can you post the link to the thread directly? I don't find a link to a stock ROM in section 6. There is a link to a 5.0 ROM, but not to a 4.x ROM. That I can see. It is all very confusing for people who aren't experts in all of this.
I can't believe I went to all the trouble of installing Viper and all it did was screw up my phone for installing 5.0. It never really fixed my volume problems, which is all I wanted to change.
So I was able to get twrp and pixel experience installed and liked, but it wouldn't work on my carrier, so I need to go back to stock. I did the info here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-to-root-magisk-and-return-to-stock.3914228/ and got the stock image and recovery installed, but cannot get the device back locked. Can anyone help?
FWIW: I got the latest stock rom from here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ali/official/RETAIL/
and think my device is the 1925-6
I just tried the most recent from the RETUS channel here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ali/official/RETUS/
and still failed. Here is the output.

Wait so when you try to lock the bootloader are you getting a warning that looks like this: "your device has a different operating system" I have same problem too and I'm not able to figure out.
I got that previously, but that was because I wasn't using the most recent image. Looks like on that page, the most recent is the one from 2020-07-28

to get rid of that message*
Yeah, basically you flash, lock and reflash. If you run the bat file earlier in this thread it should do it all.

can you please in detail tell me all the steps, prereqs, so i can go back to ACTUAL stock? i still get the "your device has loaded a different operating ststem" warning
Make sure you have the correct version rom as well, RETUS is Retail US version. Not sure what the others are. I'll look up the flashing instructions and link them.

hey can you please help me? i need to get back to stock ASAP.
So get the latest image zip you want to use from the RETUS link and make sure you have the bat file from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stock-ali-firmware-moto-g6.3792292/post-84059131
put the bat file in your minimal adb/fastboot directory and extract the image zip you downloaded above there as well. Then put your phone into fastboot mode, connect to your computer, make sure you can see it in by running adb-devices and then run the bat file from that dir that you put there.

which bat and image file(s)? be more specific plz. btw im on an unlocked version of RETUS so it might be different? or is it the same? it might be the same for us because yes it has to flash 11 images now instead of 10 from previous versions. also when i used the bat file you added for locking the bootloader it didnt work bc it still said flashing_unlocked down in the bottom and when i clicked start from the bootloader mode it was showing a white screen with lots of blue text that disappeared very quickly so i could not tell. please tell me unambiguously how to do it though.

nvm you didnt delete it but when i flashed that it just didnt lock the bootloader.
Make sure you have the 1925-6 version and grab this image: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
then grab this bat file: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stock-ali-firmware-moto-g6.3792292/page-23#post-84059131
extract both to your fastboot directory.
Then launch cmd in admin mode and navigate to the fastboot directory. Then type adb devices to make sure your phone shows up, and then run the FLASH_OEM_LOCK.bat file. This is exactly what I did to my phone about a month ago. Same image and bat file.

so the bat file as in the oem flash lock zip or whatever and the image meaning the rom like the XT1925-6_ALI_RETUS_9.0_PPSS29.55-37-7-10?? btw thats the april 1 update rigjt? also im on:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
so should i flash the image that YOU provided or is what i am using fine? this is the april security patch level so idk.
No, that is why you are getting errors, just get the most recent one, 2020-05-27, is the most recent from here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/motorola/ali/official/RETUS/
I was getting the same operating system error you did. The bat file just processes and installs all the files from whatever image file you extract to the directory using adb.
