No problem. Just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650 and read the section on how to flash the FXZ. make sure to look at the bottom part where it tells you to replace some files. you will need to do that. Instead of using the ATT FXZ file like they say use the one that matches your current version (SEARET I think you said) and follow the same directions, but use that file instead. Get if from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php

can i should replace some file in above zip? because my phone is 2.3.6
Code:
How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5, ONCE YOU UPDATE TO THE OTS 2.3.6 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FLASH THE 2.3.5 FXZ WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS BELOW!!
NOTE: Download this file HERE -
Unzip it and move all the the items in it to the stock fxz. You might get a warning about replacing files, just click OK. NOTE that Windows might not be able to handle the size of the fxz. I have 6 GB RAM but Windows still wasn't able to perform a drag-and-drop through the fxz's zip. I recommend that you just unzip the fxz and then put the files in. in replace file is InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285, and in india FZX is 5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET_cfc
and a question, my phone use code unlock AT&T, so if I flash to india FXZ, any problem happen with my atrix 2?

Yeah, I was being stupid. Was the phone originally ATT when you bought it, or was it indian. that makes a big difference. you need to know what it said under settings > about phone.
anyways this should fix it, just use which ever fxz is right (from my post in the noob thread:
just thought of an easier way to get you restored. Most of the time you only really need to do system. download the moto-fastboot utility (it's similar to normal fastboot but you MUST use it instead or it will not work) and the fxz for your region. Extract the fxz and put the system.img from it and moto-fastboot in the same folder. open a command prompt in that folder (hold shift and right click) and type
Code:
moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img
moto-fastboot.exe erase userdata
obviously you need to have your phone in fastboot mode to do that. it does the exact same thing as rsd, just only the 2 important steps, flashing system and wiping data.)
Let me know how that works for you. It may not since you have had flash failures, but we'll see.
moto-fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=635584&d=1308928440 you should actually extract it and put all the things in it in the folder with system.img
Good luck!

Flashed my atrix 2 and fastboot fail
I bought my atrix 2 from US and unlocked it and am using this in india now. I tried to flashboot the phone with "5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET_cfc.xml". I added the new files thats available in the noob called replace.zip. I also tried the moto fast boot. Now am not able to flashboot and when i run flashboot i get this error "failed flashing process. 11/21 flash ebr "ebr"-> Phone returned fail; Phone connected" .
Please help me.

I just got my ATT Atrix 2 and I think I've already bricked it, soft at least. I used a script to go from 2.3.6 back to 2.3.5 stock, then OTA to 2.3.6, then I flashed the ICS leak and flashed SCV7, it was running horribly, kept crashing and was being extremely unstable so then I tried to use the FXZ script to go from ICS back to GB, and all my phone was doing was showing the Motorola dual core screen and boot looping or just staying on that screen I couldn't tell. I can get into fastboot, when I try to get into recovery there is an icon of a box with an arrow coming out of it and a little android and a yellow progress bar and when that finishes it goes to fastboot and it says "AP FastBoot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure) what can I do?
---------- Post added at 07:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 PM ----------
The battery is low going by my luck I'm going to assume the phone will not charge while in fast boot. I've been at this for way too many hours, if someone could tell me how to get this phone working I'd appreciate it.

The FXZ is actually several files that are basically disk images of the different partitions on the phone.
Fastboot is state and a protocol that the phone is in that allows you to flash it. the moto-fatboot untility "could" be used to flash the partitions instead of RSDlite, if you want to, and that is basically how I developed my return to gb script that we have to get back from ICS.

I don't think so, because bpear's script does not flash all the partitions that RSDlite does.
You really need to use RSDlite.
It is very simple just open rsdlite, and click on the ... button and select the xml file from the fxz and tell it to start. Just make sure your phone is in fastboot mode first.

you still need to get the patch files for the fxz from the noob thread, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
look for this:
How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5, ONCE YOU UPDATE TO THE OTS 2.3.6 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FLASH THE 2.3.5 FXZ WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS BELOW!!
NOTE: Download this file HERE -

Ok, super noob question. But which of those files in that first link do I want? I was stock US AT&T 2.3.6 (my phone shipped with 2.3.6, but I understand I'll still need the patch files) .
EDIT: I missed that one column. Think I'm good

OK,so finally I recovered my phone from flashing an unsigned system.img on the 67.21.125 ICS (The second version). And also today I'm going to show you how to recover from a soft-brick from the second leak. And also IF YOU TRY TO DOWNGRADE TO 2.3.6 THE REGULAR WAY OR WITH THE MODDED FXZ, YOU WILL BE BRICKED!!! So make sure to read every bit of this guide twice !
NOTE: I'm not responsible if you brick your device, so DON'T BLAME ME!!!
Requirements are:
1. Minimal ICS FXZ
2. Moto-fastboot
3. 2.3.6 FXZ.
4. ICS Leak
If the link is on xda, then hit the THANKS button.
The steps in summary are:
Code:
1. Download the minimal FXZ that I made plus moto-fastboot for your computer and flash everything.
2. Download the 2.3.6 fastboot files and flash the grfs.img (webtop), system.img, boot.img, radio.img, and preinstall.img and NOTHING ELSE!!!
3. download the ics leak, reboot into recovery and re-apply the ICS leak.
4. After you enter fastboot again with a brick (cdt/recovery), reflash the recovery.img and cdt.bin from the minimal fxz.
5. Then reboot into recovery and re-apply the ICS leak once again.
6. Reboot and OTA to the second leak.
7. Enjoy your unbricked device:laugh:!!!
The step-by-step instructions are:
1. Reflashing the foundation
Ok, so once you downloaded everything, by using moto-fastboot(asuming its in your PATH variable), execute these commands in the ics fxz folder:
Code:
moto-fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
moto-fastboot flash mbmloader mbmloader.bin
moto-fastboot flash mbm mbm.bin
moto-fastboot flash cdt.bin cdt.bin
moto-fastboot flash lbl lbl
moto-fastboot flash logo.bin logo.bin
moto-fastboot flash ebr ebr
moto-fastboot flash mbr mbr
moto-fastboot flash devtree device_tree.bin
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
moto-fastboot erase userdata
moto-fastboot erase cache
2. Reflashing the gb files needed to upgrade.
Ok then extract the 2.3.6 fxz and ONLY flash these in the command:
Code:
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot reboot
3. ICS time again Part 1.
Ok so make sure the ICS leak is in your sdcard / (or root).
Then reboot into recovery(Volume down and Power button while rebooting from the last command. Then apply the leak back again. You should reboot back into fastboot again with cdt error.
4. ICS time again Part 2.
Ok so then execute the moto-fastboot commands from the ics fxz, (NOT the 2.3.6 like people have been saying) and then re-enter recovery...
Code:
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
moto-fastboot flash cdt.bin cdt.bin
moto-fastboot reboot
5. ICS time again Part 3.
Ok so then reapply the ICS leak and reboot using the first menu option. Then you should be back on .123 ICS leak :good::laugh:!!! NOTE: You still cannot use the original fxz method without bricking. And in order to make ICS stable again go to Settings -> About Phone -> System updates. If it says setup a motorola account, do so and try again. You should get an update notification and make sure to download it and install it and Your... Are... Done :cyclops:!!!
Well then there you go, it is all fixed. If you have any questions or comments please post below.
Also if this helped you, please it the THANKS button!!!.
Thanks for reading and good luck!!!

Do I flash it from cmd (command) I'm on a Windows 7 64 bit and the cmd is not recognizing my device...I'm confused. Or did you use RSD? Download moto-fastboot-win32.zip and flash it from there. Just copy the dll's and moto-fastboot.exe to C:\Windows\System32 and then goto where I instructed in the tutorial(2.3.6 GB/My minimal ics fxz) and run the commands. If you get to a part where I say recovery and then reboot into recovery and flash the zip. You also need to do it from cmd.

Just a little criticism here, from someone who has done these type of things before.
Think about your audience, and that they may not know everything you do.
It might help to lay it all out step by step command syntax for both windows and *nix/Mac users. I am afraid that you will keep getting posts like this from users who do not know how to do all of these things.
Use this as an example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19957710
I hope this is helpful, as I am just trying to help out.
I modified jim's script a bit and made these two batch files for windows users who want to attempt this but are not too comfortable using command prompts...
For part#1 above - This goes with the minimal fxz files (just put it in the folder with the minimal fxz files and the moto-fastboot files - note that you will be prompted to hit enter a couple of times during the flash because of the pauses): https://dl.dropbox.com/u/61960599/minimalFXZA2.bat
For part#2 above - This goes with the GB 2.3.6 img files (again, put it in a folder with those 5 .img files and the moto-fastoot files): https://dl.dropbox.com/u/61960599/236IMGsA2.bat
For part#4, just use the command line, or edit the minimalFXZA2.bat file and remove all of the lines for flashing except the ones for cdt.bin and recovery.img.
@tcf38012 - i hope this is ok i put these together... please check them out, I did change the flashing order of part#2 and added a reboot bootloader before the cdt.bin in part#1 - this is the order the official fxz flashed those files.. so, again I'm not sure if there was some magic in the way you originally flashed these, but..
@jim - i hope this is okay that i used stuff from your script.. please provide your input as well.. i think a few people are really counting on this working for them
i tried the above steps till reboot into recovery i tried rebooting power+vol down it took me to a andrioid with belly open and then there was a bar down like it was installing something when completed i tried from recovery to flash ics but it rebooted in between and then now it comes up with invalid cg version help me.do i start the process again?what do i do?any one?
idk why but it keeps saying ' moto-fastboot' is not recognized? any suggestions?

Sounds like you made it through step 3.. I think you need to flash only the cdt.bin and recovery.img again from the minimal fxz package.. then install the ota again..
But, I have never done this so I'm not certain exactly.

are you sure coz the time it took from me starting the flash of ics to the device rebooting and giving and invalid cg version was like one minute or so.and you think just flashing cdt.bin will let me boot normally into ics leak 1?

Are you sure everything is in the same folder? Try this moto-fastboot package: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/61960599/motofastboot.zip
So, make sure the files are in the same folder of the files you are flashing, and make sure you have no spaces in the path to the folder (best if you just throw it in or close to C:\) - also make sure you have the moto drivers installed on your comp.

[Q] Possible to manually apply official 4.0.4?

Hi everyone,
I've tried looking around for answer to this, but could not find anything, or at least could not find anything that said it explicitly.
So the OTA update is now live in the USA, but here in New Zealand no OTA update is available.
Im on stock 2.3.6, and unrooted, and when searching for updates nothing is found.
Is there any way to manually apply the US 4.0.4 official update? Such as flashing an official fxz file?
Would be really appreciated if someone could help me out in lamens terms!
Thanks!
If you have an at&t phone follow the instructions here to get on the leak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
After that you can OTA to the official, but we can't FXZ back from the official yet, so staying on the leak is still recommended.

Hi, thanks for the answer.
It does not have stock AT&T, so is it still okay to follow the linked process?
Currently:
System version = 55.1.28.MB865.TNZ.en.NZ
Android version = 2.3.6
Kernal version = [email protected]#1
Baseband version = 2012-02-03 07:56 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_24_120203_0746 ... (just in case this would create an issue doing OTA update?)

EDIT: finished
Heya fellow NZ'er, I got my motorola atrix 2 on ICS , and im here to help!
So follow these steps to get it working, First off, get moto-fastboot, extract it, and get the all the files inside into C:/Users/*Your name*/HERE.
Once that is done, get this file WARNING: its around 350MBs. Extract that file into C:/Users/*Your name*/HERE So that you have a whole bunch of .img files and a few otheres in there.
Ok now the tricky part, flashing the files.
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS FULL!!!!
Put the Atrix 2 in fastboot mode by turning it on while holding power, vol up and vol down all at the same time. (I prefer holding vol up and down together first, and pressing the power button.) then press vol down to get to a selection called "AP fastboot" and then press volume up.
Once there, make sure it has installed the right drivers (Should be like Mot single somethingarather device) and then go to start and type cmd in the search bar. go to the program and then once in command prompt, type in:
Code:
moto-fastboot devices
Then your phone should show up. Next just copy this and right click and paste into Command Prompt
Code:
moto-fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
Wait for it to come back again from reboot
Code:
moto-fastboot flash mbmloader mbmloader.bin
moto-fastboot flash mbm mbm.bin
moto-fastboot flash cdt.bin cdt.bin
moto-fastboot flash lbl lbl
moto-fastboot flash logo.bin logo.bin
moto-fastboot flash ebr ebr
moto-fastboot flash mbr mbr
moto-fastboot flash devtree device_tree.bin
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
moto-fastboot erase userdata
moto-fastboot erase cache
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot reboot
Now hold the phone.(Literally) Now it may seem bricked. Well thats what happened to me.
Anyway take the battery out, and wait a Full 5-10 mins (And i mean actually get a stopwatch if you have to), then put it back in then leave it to charge for about 5-10 mins (Even though it was full when you started RIGHT??).
Now it should boot up normally and on its way to ICSdom!
Hey, cheers for the reply!
Is that the firmware from the "Atrix 2 MB865 Firmwares SuperThread (Ice Cream Sandwich)" thread?
Just wondering if I will be able to get back to current/an NZ version after flashing that? My atrix 2 still has over 2 and a half years of warranty remaining so, kind of want to keep it under warranty if possible. I'm sure if its sent in with firmware that doesnt match the IMEI, it will be coming straight back :S

[Q] Upgrade to Jellybean

I'm rooted with the stock ROM, and my bootloader is unlocked using the Motorola website.
What's the easiest and effective way to upgrade to the newest (Jellybean) OTA update?
Also, I forgot I had rooted because I installed the OTA and tried to apply it but of course it failed.
Now when I start my phone up...it will load then a couple seconds later, it shuts down and boots into CWM.
What can I do?
Easiest way at this point is probably to use RSD Lite and wipe the phone with one of the FXZ's.
Then wait for the OTA and flash it.
You can't flash OTA's on aftermarket recoveries. You have to be on stock recovery to take the OTA......
Edit - link for reference.

It's pretty straightforward IMHO. The only "wrinkle" is having to edit the .XML files - which is noted int he first post.

Hopefully the Sprint FXZ for JB will land, and people can just flash straight to it

Yea, RSD should reboot your phone into fastboot mode and start flashing.
If it doesn't, you might have to enable adb... I can't remember as I always have adb setup/enabled

don't start adb from a command prompt. RDS will take care of that. USB debugging must be enabled on your phone in developer options.

RSD l ite is really easy. You need to have fastboot installed on the PC/phone and you need to enable debugging. Then its as easy as 3 steps. Find the file, choose flash. Forget the 3rd step.... Its really easy.

Other than editing that XML file and getting fastboot working, RSD is quite simple to use

Sounds like you don't have the drivers. Go to motorola.com and make sure you have the latest / correct drivers. RSD is a moto program so with Moto drivers and RSD lite you should have no problem. You also need to have fastboot on both your phone and the computer.
Then you may need an xml editor to remove those files (I have to every time) and after that its really easy.
Open RSD Lite
Connect Phone
Select File
Decompress and Flash

[Q] Orange France Version of XT925 and no LTE/4G

I bought a Motorola XT925 on ebay branded Orange France and loaded with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 firmware.
The phone was sold to me as a 4G/LTE capable device. Not seeing an option for 4G/LTE in the phones menu, I then dug around the Orange France web portal. There it says the phone is not 4G/LTE compatible. This was confirmed by Motorola France.
So my big question: is the radio hardware in this Orange France phone the same as an XT925 that I would by from Rogers Canada, but just not initialized for 4G/LTE? Or is the actual Radio hardware different? Even Motorola France was not able to tell me over the phone about the exact hardware.
Do I have a hope to get 4G/LTE working on this phone?
I want to try a Rogers firmware on this phone, but don't want a 200,00$ paperweight.
Thanks for reading.
is the bootloader unlocked? check by booting into apfast mode. Moto website can unlock your BL if needed, after that you can test any firmware and flah any radio of course with caution .There is hope.

I have a custom recovery utility installed after rooting and unlocking the bootloader and just completed a backup on the phone. I figure since the phone is wearing jelly bean 4.1.1 I ought to be able to take the Rogers firmware jellybean 4.1.2 and flash that onto the phone. Just not sure how to make sure that the modem gets flashed when I do fastboot flash system system.img. So I am looking around to piece together the instructions on how to flash the modem or does the system image contain all I need for the modem and all else?
I kinda like the lock screen on the Orange.fr firmware -- has a sliding mute feature that might not stick around after a system flash. minor detail though as all I really want is a working LTE device.
Thanks

RSD Lite is a windows utility and at the present time I do not have a windows computer. I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed the recovery successfully with mfastboot for linux. So that;s where I am at. ( I find it ironic that a phone OS based oin linux should be largely dependent on a non-linux OS. Strange but true.
@hbenz2008 tell me about flashing the modem so that I can have LTE/4G access. What do I need to do?

I have downloaded the 4.1.2 Rogers firmware but to be honest I don't know exactly what or how to do with the zip file. I've opened the archive -- I even flashed the modem and all the rest of the blobs onto the phone, one by one based on a batch file from another archive. What happened was I lost my patience waiting for the phone to reboot as it appeared to be stuck on the Motorola boot logo. (Maybe it was rebuilding the cache??) I used the recovery to get the phone back. So if you can give me a clue as to what to do exactly with the firmware zip -- much appreciate your council.
i dont have a mac but i will try to get you some instructions. Under windows, we just rsd the xml file after extracting the firmware. This may help

I dug up an old netbook with xp on it and managed to use RDSlite it to flash the Rogers firmware and voila! Full service phone. except for one tiny snag. Earlier I had installed a custom recovery utility cwm6.2.2.8-XT925(epinter) and it worked. Now though the cwm recovery util got wiped and my subsequent attempts to re-install fail. I speak: "linux-fastboot flash recovery cwm.img. response: Max 30M sending recovery.
Weird it never progresses or finishes. Beginning to think I have the syntax wrong.
Try mfasboot

Thats what I have as a linux version (mfastboot). Got it from a link posted by @ATTACK and it worked properly before I flashed 4.1.2 today. I'll work on it at least now I have a phone that works and shows the options I was sold. Just wondering if RSDLite does something crippling when it writes the flash to the phone.
Rsd is clean. You can always try other recoveries. Cmw6.0.4.4 if I remember correctly works

And twrp 6.0.

So something does seem to have changed. I no longer have permission to erase with the mfastboot utility. And I am refering to permission on the device not in my local shell. I sudo to the shell locally then run fastboot which returns the following:
gryphon platform-tools # fastboot erase recovery
(bootloader) Variable not supported!
erasing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) Permission denied
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.034s
gryphon platform-tools
the device status code is 3 and unlocked so I am baffled.
i have fought that error before but dont recall what solved it. Either another recovery or flashing with fastboot, or mfastboot.

If you think of another possible solution let me know. As of now no fastboot utility works on my phone now.
At one point I also downloaded android sdk from Google and used fastboot tools/platform to flash things up.

I have the android-sdk installed and the fastboot included is known to cause problems with image files that are large. Thats where mfastboot comes in handy.
Now everytime I powercycle the phone fastboot appears on the screen and shows a failed flash notice. I'd like to clear up this issue pronto. what a pain . An adventurous pain
Maybe flash a different recovery with it hopefully overwrite what's in the phone. If not, flashing 4.1.2 with rsd and a fresh recover maybe an easier way. Even European 4.1.2 rtfr modified to get kk update. There is a thread:make your xt 925 updatable. Check it out, you may kill two birds with 5 stones
while you at it man, can you please grab "gps.conf " from system/etc and post here .It is about 2kb size. Merci

Good news! I got the fastboot flash failure flag cleared away and cwm recovery reinstalled. Still can't flash anything with fastboot of any stripe and I am betting this is because the image files in the sbf archive are signed. My phone is now vritualy identical to any Fido branded phone, complete with a Fido boot logo. Cute.
There ought to be a way to overwrite signed images, besides waiting for a new firmware release. The bootloader is unlocked and phone rooted yet fastboot flashing is not currently possible.
How can I unlock the signed images on my phone?
BTW heres my gps.conf. Whats your interest in this file?
