Just A Rant

So, after receiving my Pebble Blue 16GB S3 on the 11th, I realized that I would much rather have the Marble White version. So I've been posting on Craigslist non-stop for a trade, so that I could avoid paying the $35 restocking fee. Well, yesterday was the last day that I could go to Verizon to switch the device with the restocking fee, and of course with my luck, all Verizon locations in the area are out of stock. They offered to order me one, but explained that they would have to send my device back, and I would be without a phone until the white one gets here.
Now, I know it's my own fault for waiting so damn long, but man. It sucks!

Return it and buy it from BestBuy. Just be sure to have Verizon put a note on your account to let you keep the unlimited data.
I personally hate BestBuy but they have the best return policy of any retail store.

I have a marble white and I've been lightly considering switching to Pebble Blue, but only under convenient circumstances. What area do you live in? I'm in SW Chicago suburbs.

I honestly would of traded with you! recently Ive been into the marble blue color but for some reason I want to cling onto the white..then again There are some nice cases out there that really go good with the blue which is why I would want to trade in the first place

It is a crazy popular phone. I suspect anything you do with it needs to be done with as much time padding as possible.
I read something about even the warranty places possibly not having enough stock to do replacements.

So I called Verizon and tried my hand at conning them into sending me a white refurb. They said that they would, but their redemption center has none in stock, and they were very limited on the blue. So I figure if I give it a month or two, I'll try back again and hopefully they'll have a few!

Digitizer dying, stopped working in certain spots, and hot pixel

Just got home from school and went to unlock my HTC One X and did my usual pattern, and found out that it didnt unlock. What happened was I would go down at an angel from 1 to 9 and the screen would stop recognizing my finger. I tried again, and again and again and nothing. So I loaded up sketch book and decided to just draw lines from the top of the screen to the bottom and I found out the exact spot where the digitizer is either failing or not recognizing my finger.

There is absolutly no physical damage to this phone, and I have had it since the day it launched.
Also noticed there is a hot pixel now, and what looks like another developing.
Anyone else ran into this?

Not rooted, stock rom, haven't dropped the phone, but the phone does get hot sometimes.

Do it in landscape and see if it lines up in the same spot

Yeah if you got the warranty for it at att. It was a few extra a month if you got it I think.

Sadly I didn't. Got it through amazon wireless and never go the att warranty. Sad face.

Same happened to my screen same spot too. I just got a replacement through att warranty. Just ruu to stock and exchanged just fine. Luckily it was on 1.85

Wait what? AT&Ts warranty is free with a new phone under a year?

It does not matter if u got your phone from, amazon , Wal-Mart or att , if u pass the 14 day buyer remorse , att covers the warranty for 1 year for new phone , 90 days for re furb , they will want you to do a master reset on it, so call att n get tech support on the line. And then they will transfer you to WSC for replacement . Hope it helps

I've got a similar problem but the dead area on my digitizer is at the bottom of the screen where the options bar normally sits. The digitizer area below the screen (back, home, switch buttons) is just fine. This is one of the worst places though, since I can't press space on the keyboard (in portrait) and I can't pull up the digit keypad when in-call.
I'm planning to upgrade to the HTC One in a couple weeks, so I really just need a temporary fix. (I don't have insurance, and my screen is already cracked in a different area so a warranty replacement is out).
To get around this, I wonder if I could change the height of the screen that's available to the OS? I'm happy to try building a ROM from source (if necessary), does anyone have any suggestions for where I would find and change those parameters?

That's awesome!!! I would never be so lucky. I bought 2 for the wife and myself. We both currently don't use them because they aren't consistent on charging. We wake up in the mornings crossing our fingers that our phones charged just to find they are completely dead.
Congrats on the awesome luck and hope yours work better than ours.

Damn I missed this promo.

No wonder they are on backorder again Lol. I get mine Thursday, wonder if I'll get more than one lol.

Mine was delivered this past Saturday, after getting a backorder email on Friday. And then another one got delivered yesterday. So now I've got one for the office and home.

Just got my first one yesterday, I'm hoping they send another lol.

That almost happened to me also. Got an email from FedEx that there was a delivery exception due to missing Apt or Suite number. Yet the very same driver delivered another package to me 2 days prior, address identical and correct. Can't have a suite number for a house.

Has anyone received a replacement from Sprint yet? I keep staring at mine waiting for it to self combust. Not sure if i should return mine and go back to the note 4 or not. if the consumer protection agency actually releases a statement saying that we should discontinue using our phone could sprint or samsung actually deny the exchange if we ignore it?

I think we have to wait until the Government approves the replacements. So who know when that will happen. I did go back to my note 4 but have not returned the Note 7 yet. Waiting to see how long it will take to get those replacements. If within a week or so, then will wait, if more than a month, then returning the Note 7 for now and getting my upgrade back and will decide whether to buy it again later or just wait for the Note 8.

Sprint guy today told me he expects mid next week before they start trickling in.

Just phoned Samsung and they said it has been approved by the feds. And to be expecting US replacements later this week or next week.

Just got a message from Samsung also said most retail locations will have them by the 21st.

CNN just reported the CPSC formerly recalls Note 7. The same report says Samsung will have replacement phone's to the US carriers by Sept 21st.

Sprint told me that I didnt have to replace mine when i went into the store. I called their headquarters and they said I do and to talk to their manager when I go back. No loaners available and thry said they have no idea when news one will be in. Whole thing is a mess.

According to Samsung all phones are being replaced. Don't listen to the Sprint store reps. The stores should be getting them on or around Sept. 21.

S5 is dying out

Well it seems a lot of devs are moving on from verizon s5 especially with a Cid 11 . Soon I will be ditching my s5 I have about 5 mnths left on my contract and will be moving on to a different carrier.
I would like to give thanks too all the devs who kept the S5 going this long !!

i just bought a 2nd s5 vzw from work with an unlockable bootloader. this things brand new feeling while my original is literally in the worst shape you can think of

I keep my S5 around as a backup/overseas phone. I'm on OLD firmware and using Safestrap to boot in to Eclipse 2.0 ROM. I wouldn't mind updating it to a newer ROM, but don't want to lose root, and since we're talking about a Verizon S5... I just haven't kept up on it. Can anyone point me to a thread that would break down my options?

Yeah the forums dying out as the phone ages is part of the life cycle of the phone. Same thing happened back in the Galaxy Nexus days as that phone aged. People move on to the next good phone. This is exactly why I went ahead and took my emc11 S5 back to stock. At least this way I can enjoy the full MM experience. I'll probably keep this phone until the S8 comes out. When that hits, the price will drop significantly on the S7 and that will be my next purchase. It is slated to go to Nougat, the S5 isn't.

That's good if you like running a stock phone unrooted because big red will have it locked down also bye bye big red for me

For those with cid 11 you might want to start thinking about moving on from verizon as it will be a matter of time before verizon locks down everything. Now there are a lot of carrier's out there where their phones can have the bootloader unlocked.

My s5 Cid was 15 I rooted it towel root method after unlocking bootloader just fine but Lineage rom won't flash stuck with stock rom BTW mines verizon
