Nexus 5 problems after updating to 6.0 Marshmallow. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I've updated my Nexus 5 about a month ago when I got the OTA. After the update I made a Factory Reset, and installed all the apps from scratch as I usually do. My phone has never been rooted, or had the bootloader unlocked, or anything... I'm just a regular user. I've been experiencing the most frustrating problems ever since the update. I've never had this many problems through Lollipop or even KitKat. I'll make a list of the things I've noticed:
- Battery Life got worse. I just don't see any improvement at all. With 5.1.1 I got to work with 100%, and when I got back home, about 85%. Now I get home with 75% - 70%.
- Problems with WiFi. The first 2 weeks using Marshmallow, I've noticed on the Battery Settings that WiFi was using between 25% - 45% of the battery. Usually on 5.1.1 it used between 1% and 5%. I solved this making a Factory Reset and a Wipe Cache Data from the Recovery Mode. Also I disabled both WiFi and Bluetooth Scanning from the Location settings.
- Settings app crashing when trying to access to "Data Usage" settings. I had this problem on Lollipop too. It solved itself after updating to 5.1.1 but it came back on 6.0. I solved it making another Wipe Cache Data from the Recovery Mode.
- After fixing this other two, I've started noticing problems with the Proximity Sensor on calls and Whatsapp while listening to audio messages. I haven't solved this one yet, but I don't care much about it.
- Apps crashing, particularly Google Photos and sometimes Instagram (when trying to take a photo or a video from the app, I didn't have any problem when uploading from the gallery.).
- Slow charging or even discharging. I usually plug my phone at night to the wall adapter. Every once in a while it charges really slow or even discharges. I have no idea if it's the battery itself, or the microusb connector. I even bought a new wall adapter, and the problem persisted. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON 5.1.1!
I'll try to upload screen captures and more details later. I know many reported some of this problems before so please, comment and help!

Hello !
You can solve all of your problems very easily !
- Download the Android 6.0 ROM from Google Developer and flash it. That should fix all of your softwares problems. [https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-mra58n-factory-aeca4139.tgz]
- To fix the charging issue, which I faced it too ! Use another charger which has the following details - 2.0A/5V (I use Samsung Tab Charger, charges real quick !! )
That's all !!

Bluetooth (BlueZ) issues on Samsung Tab7.7 CarbonRom (latest by Daniel_hk)
Hi!
Having flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723126 pretty one, I've experiencing unstable bluetooth connection with almost everything. Philips bluetooth music station connects after 10 seconds only for half a minute then drops (i can see a slight screen flash-redraw on the phablet), car multimedia does not discover the phablet as a 'phone' device (only audio), which means no convenient hands-free for me. And I'm not alone to these problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55861531&postcount=103, 'alnon' describes same issue.
Can someone check out this ROM and/or confirm this bug? Also, if anyone knows of a solution/fix, please advise!
A Big Thank-You to Daniel
I've used some of Daniel's roms before, but I have to say that the Carbon rom is by far the best -- fast, with low battery usage, and a chance to use KitKat.
Thanks.
Samsung Tab 6800 CarbonRom
Hi,
I just installed the unofficial CarbonRom(4.4.4) release on my Samsung Galaxy Tab P6800. I upgraded from official rooted ICS using TWRP. The tab boots up fine but hangs within a minute of operation. Please help and let me know if you guys have any ideas on what is causing this.

Here I installed last build (december one) and bluetooth cant receive files from another android, neither can turned off. I have a p6800.

Bluetooth problem
Hi there,
I was reading for years until I yesterday decidet to flash (from stock) to this rom.
All went fine (besides a corrupt backup, sh. happens)
All seems to work besides: bluetooth.
I thougt there should be no Bluetooth issue with this rom?
I can turn BT on or off, but the Tab doesn't find any bluetooth device.
I canNOT turn on its visibility for other devices. Its not found by eg. my pc.
Anyone who had the same problem?
With stockrom it worked all fine, no hardware change.
THANK YOU - to anybody who finds some minutes to care about a newbie

This Build work well except Bt
I installed the 12 december version with opengapps nano GAPPS package. But I get a horrible wakelock on google play services, no matter what I try. I can't seem to track it down or solve it.. (tracked it down with Wakelock Detector, GSAM Battery Monitor). It's preventing deep sleep. Any tips?
Tab 7.7 CarbonRom KitKat starts automatically when charging
Hi,
I've installed [ROM][4.4.4r2]p6800/p6810/i815(12Dec2014)CarbonROM Kitkat Unofficial on my tab 7.7. with TWRP recovery project 3.0.2-0. Although everything seems to be working fine, except known issues, I have one issue. When I turn off my tablet and start charging, my tablet automatically starts/reboots after a minute or so. Is there a way from preventing this automatically reboot when charging, while I my tab is shut down? I want to charge my tab turned off because it will charge much faster. I've been looking around for same issues of different devices and possible solutions but nothing seems to work for me:
- Disabeling Stay a Wake while charging.
- Turn off while charging cable is already connected.
- Switch to original cables, chargers or not using data cable
- Can't edit LPM, PLayLPM, IPod, etc., because I can't find such battery animation file
#!/system/bin/sh
sleep 40 (Maybe I can change the amount of time to boot while charging, e.g. to 100.000)
/system/bin/reboot
- Delete Cache and Data-storage.
- Maximize CPU Frequency to max. 1400 Mhz.
Can somebody please help me and find me a solution!?

The automatic reboot when charging was a bug in the old Kitkat Rom's that Daniel fixed with Android Lollipop rom's, its a feature of those builds.

[Q] Constant reboots amongst other things..

I've got a D6633 version of the Z3 and every now and then it will reboot. The funny thing is it does so either in idle or in deep sleep 100% of the time. I've never had it reboot when i'm playing a game or anything.
Also recently with all the material updates in apps, I'm getting a lot of app crashes. Facebook was the main one, but the Gmail app was doing it quite a bit recently. I couldn't reply any emails as it would just crash.
Has anyone, preferably with a D6633 been having these issues as well?
I'm stock unrooted.

I also have the same issue with my phone auto reboot after I connected my phone to my car by bluetooth. the first day I owed it, it rebooted 5 times within 10 minutes, very bad. then today is my second day of owing the phone, it reboot once under the same situation. I think it has to do with bluetooth or something, just annoying.

My experience with KK and bluetooth has been crummy to put it mildly, and this is on a few different devices. Reboots I've not seen. Have you by chance tried performing a reset of the device? In Lollipop, I've read that can clear some issues with Wifi/BT up.
I'll be getting my Z3 tomorrow, and BT is one of the first things I test. Between work calls and music, it's about 1/2 of my total phone use. Hopefully my experience is better than yours.
I have D6603 and just like yours my phone restarts every now and then and this happens only when phone is in deep sleep...
I know this because when I return home from work and grab my phone there are notifications about restore files available on sd card and mobile data disabled...

Note 3 > Lollipop 5.0 Update Problems .....

I've listed nine issues I've had with the Lollipop 5.0 Update on my Note 3:
1) Screenshot not working as before (before I could simply press the button on my S-Pen, then touch the screen, and get a Screen Shot. Doesn't work anymore. Swipe also does not work. Have to hold Power and Home Buttons to get a Screen Shot now)
2) Increased Battery Drain
3) WiFi issues (new WiFi issue that I never had before Lollipop 5.0 Update)
3a) Did have other WiFi issues before Lollipop 5.0 Update. Also have always had serious problems with connecting via T-Mobile Data service. Our Charter Internet service is much better, rock solid, stable connection between 65-67mbps!!!
4) Bluetooth issues (Random disconnect, but I did have this issue before, and after, Lollipop 5.0 Update)
5) Multi-window (doesn't work!)
6) RAM usage increase by 500MB !!!
7) Multi-Task doesn't work
8) Air Command
9) Random Reboot (had this issue before Lollipop 5.0 Update too)
I've called Tech Support many times. They have NOT been able to help me with ANY of these issues ... !!! I just discovered a few minutes ago all by myself how to get Air Command to work. After messing around for several hours ...... I accidentally >>> Double-clicked on my S-Pen, and guess what happened ..... Air Command popped up !!! It works. Strange that numerous Samsung Tech Support people would not know this solution. They all went through the usual >>> Reboot > Clear Cache > Safe Mode Boot > Wipe Cache Partition .....
Then the Tech Support all told me the only solution is to take my Note 3 to Best Buy and have them do a Reflash, or send my Note 3 in for repairs or replacement, or do a Factory Reset.
Now if I can just figure out how to get Multi-Window working again ...... (stopped working after Lollipop 5.0 Update several days ago).
I agree. My only real complaint is the wifi problem. It doesn't disconnect/turn off, it just stops responding/sending and receiving data. I have to toggle the wifi on and off to get it to work again. Now, if this was only a once and a while thing, then fine I could live with it. But this is happening within 10 minutes of being on wifi. Everytime! I usually have phones with custom roms on them, but since KNOX came around it makes me hesitate to pull the trigger on rooting. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to them. Or, if anyone can ASSURE that there is a way to root a t-mobile note 3 running lollipop 5.0 WITHOUT tripping KNOX (and not just a cosmetic cover up to display KNOX as not tripped) I'm definitely open to that option as well. Just tired of no wifi. I've done the obvious of a factory reset and it didn't fix anything.
Also, to address some of your issues. I had a battery drain problem, but the factory reset fixed that. And as for the ram usage...you want android to use your ram. You want ANY OS to use as much ram as possible. Thats what gives you your best performance. i may be stating the obvious there, but I felt compelled to.... If you didn't try a factory reset, I'd recommend that

WiFi disconnect when screen turn off

Hi guys, I have a little issues with my nexus. When I lock the device, the wifi turn off and reconnect as soon as unlock the device. I've started to have this issue 3 weeks ago, I've updated from stock android 6 to 6.0.1 and the problem are still there (I've tried using cm and 2 or 3 others roms too). I don't have any energy save app or samething like that, and the option in "advance wifi" is set in always on.
I'm trying to read the log but I don't understand where is the wifi problem.

Hi,
Have you tried restoring to the latest factory image https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images with a full wipe?
(make sure to backup any data that you wish to keep before hand)

Yep, twice
This is a known issue that started with 6.0/Marshmallow.
It’s discussed in this thread.
Please to go the official Android Issue Tracker entry and star the item to vote for it. It’s already a high priority and been acknowledged by Google, but wasn’t fixed in 6.0.1. More exposure might help get it fixed sooner rather than later.

I'm having this issue since I first used this phone (upgraded to Lollipop right away). It has been around before MM, but back then it felt I was the only one. I had given up.
Please turn off any battery saving applications or battery saver feature and then check again if the issue still occurs....

Bluetooth suddenly stopped working

Hey guys,
yesterday I noticed that Bluetooth is switched off on my S7. I tried to switch it on again, but the slider/button in the bluetooth menu just stays gray, even though it moved to the right. It looks like the phone is not able to start blutooth for whatever reason. WiFi works without a flaw. My phone is completely stock, no root, no knox, no custom rom. I'm on stock rom G935FXXU1DQJ1
Any ideas how to fix this?
Try to perform a hard reset. Maybe there is a bug in your phone.

Well I was hoping to find a solution without having to wipe everything. Without knowing if it will fix the issue, it would take me several hours of lifetime to setup the phone from scratch.
Ok - this is very strange. I'm still using the phone currently as it is and I'm wearing my Gear S2 smartwatch to at least know what time it is, but throughout the day bluetooth actually turned a few times on, synchronized with the watch and suddenly switch off again.
I was trying to stream music to a bluetooth speaker during one of the phases in which bluetooth was working, but the music stops after several seconds and bluetooth switches off again.
What the ....?
Ok I think I fixed it. Resetting all connectivity settings did the trick for me. Although I now need to reconnect to all the devices and WiFis. Still better then doing a factory reset
