[Completed] Unable to Flash Recovoery Image on my Zenfone 5 - XDA Assist

Hello guys,
I did a remarkably stupid thing and can no longer boot my Zenfone 5.
I had rooted my phone earlier. But I applied an OTA update from Asus on top of it. It seems I have bricked the phone now as the phone seems to be in a boot loop.
I tried flashing the fastboot and recovery images by following the instructions at asus zentalk forum.
The messages say that flashing was successful. But when I try to go into recovery, it still goes in to the newest recovery version (which is from the OTA update) and not the one I flashed.
I still tried to flash the rom image but I get an assert error about a date not being in range. I then tried to edit the update script to remove the assert line, but then the signatures could not be verified. I think the problem is because recovery image is not the right version. I tried several different recovery images with no success.
Also, when i boot into recovery from droidboot right after flashing recovery, it goes to the dead android screen with the "No Command" text. I cannot go into recovery from here. But if I reboot the system from droidboot and then switch off the phone when it boot loops, I am able to go into recovery mode from the "No Command" screen by pressing power button + volume up once. May be it is because I attempt to boot that I am not able change my recovery?
Can someone help? Or point me in the right direction?
Thank you for taking the time to go through that lengthy post...
So I have been tinkering with the phone and decided to try Resurrection Remix v5.5.8 for Zenfones. It seems to be working pretty good. Anyone having my problem can follow that thread for a solution to the problem...

recovery boot issues - red triangle, then reboot

I'm having issues getting recovery to work on a Verizon version xoom. I first flashed CWM version 4.0.0.4. The first time I tried to boot into it, it was stuck on the android with the red triangle for a long time before finally getting into it (coincidentally when I was hitting the volume key, don't know if that's related). Anyway, since then I haven't been able to get into it. It will be suck on the red triangle screen for a minute or two before rebooting into the stock rom (I'm running stock ICS). Since then, I've tried flashing the new TWRP 2.2.2 or whatever version it is and it has no effect. It's still doing the same thing. Any clue what's wrong?
So what I'm reading is suggesting that the android guy I'm seeing is the stock recovery. I'm not sure how that's happening. I'm installing the recovery using fastboot on my PC and being in the bootloader on my xoom. The prompts on both appear to confirm success.
I haven't tried this yet as I'm at work, but I think I've got the issue sorted. The following is what appears to be happening from what I've read.
1. I've still got the custom recovery stalled. When the Android guy pops up, one needs to press volume up to enter the options. Otherwise, it reboots.
2. The recovery flashes are taking because I'm booting back into the rom after a flash. The system's built in recovery protection is re-flashing the original recovery at that point.
3. To make my CWM/TWRP/whatever flash stick, I'll need to power down and then boot directly into the recovery.
I'll post again tonight to say if this works. Hopefully this thread can help out others who have the same issue.
If you don't get that to work fastboot img from link..

[Q] HELP! lg g2 stuck in boot loop

I have an at&t LG G2 D800 the android version is 4.2.2. my phone is ROOTED and I do have PHILZ Recovery. I was trying to do a hard reset or factory reset not sure what the difference is. what seemed to happen in the process is my phone was almost completely formatted and now i have access to only download mode and I can get into Philz Recover still. other then that when i boot my phone up it just gets stuck on LG boot up screen and my LED notification light blinks. need help please. cant seem to find solution or I just haven't looked in the right place yet. if anyone knows how to help or at least point me in the right direction. I give huge thanks in advance.
So you have a custom recovery installed. Good! Head over to your phones forum section and look for a stock ROM if you can find it.
If not then find an aftermarket one. Once you have found one. Download the needed files. Some included Google apps and some don't. It'll state it. Download the two zips or one if everything's together. Boot into recovery mode on your phone, and select storage and mounts.
From there go to the bottom or look for mount internal SD card or external SD card. Mount it. Then transfer the files you had downloaded to the root of your phone. Once done. Un mount it and remove the cable. Go to the menu of the recovery, select factory reset option. Then install the .zips.
Your phone should then boot up. Something must have gone wrong when you had done a hard reset.
Reply back when you've done the above. And tell me how it went.

I have the same problem. I was running 4.2.2 rom under twrp recovery. Then I flasher Philz and flashed 4.4.2 rom. I was unsatisfied with it so I flashed back the old recovery so I could restore the backup. I booted twrp, recovered the backup and reeboted the system. After booting it was saying some crap like this and that procces stopped. Now Im flashing the .zip (just downloaded rom, no data), and after that its there just the boot loop (lg picture and blinking LED). Please help what to do :good:
you should flash via download mode with kdz file to go back to stock
I don't know if it's better etiquette to semi-hijack this thread or post a new thread, but I've created the same problem for myself today. I instaled TWRP recovery successfully and downloaded a CM11 nightly along with gapps for CM11. Today I installed the zips but when my phone rebooted it started the endless LG logo loop thing, which sounds the same as he describes.
I can't seem to boot into my recovery with any key combination. Volume up and power, volume down and power, they all lead to a "Hardware Key Control Mode" menu. At this point my goal is a factory reset. Maybe the same solution that helps him will help me? I need to get the phone into either download mode or to the TWRP menu.

[Q] Loop on 4.4.3 upgrade - problems - HELP please

I did a factory reload of a rooted phone with CWM.
Now for the CWM issue the Moto G loaded OK and then said there was an update for android to fix some bugs. This was 4.4.3. I loaded it and it gets half way and it then says
"Signature verification fail"
at the bottom of the screen and
" Install Untrusted Package"
The options are yes, no or go back
at the top....
whichever one I try it then tries to boot shows the Android / Motorola screen and starts up gets a txt message for 2-3 seconds... it then goes back to Android CWM recovery with the same options as above and repeats the process. again and again and again. No function keys will stop this cycle which just repeats again. This continues until the battery dies.
any ideas ? how can I override this action in CWM v6.0.4.6 and force it to do a factory reload ? any help or advice much appreciated.
The following thread had a similar problem and was fixed... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53404637

"If you can still power your phone, can you still access the boot loader? If so, I would suggest using adb from a computer to flash Phillz recovery. CWM always gave me a lot of random errors when flashing items. You could use PhillZ to flash the stock ROM for 4.4.2. After that, just follow the same process I did. Download the update zip via the OTA download when it prompts you. Once it's finished, DON'T boot back into Android. Boot into Phillz recovery from the boot loader, move the zip out of the cache and onto sdcard or your computer, and then flash it either straight from the phone or by sideloading it from your computer. Then you'll have a working version of vanilla 4.4.3, and you can flash over a custom ROM in the future if you so choose."
unfortunately I can't get into bootloader. I can connect usb and it makes no difference. therefore adb commands dont work. it just goes straight into screen described with those three options. I'm hoping that there is an override action in CWM which isn't power and volume down which do nothing.
If not how can I force it into bootloader instead please ? any suggestions appreciated.

Help with rooting of Moto G 4g xt1039

Hey guys so i was trying to root my Motorola Moto G 4G. I did the all bootloader unlocking thing, and it went well, but i am stuck with the rooting: i have tried superboot, but all it gives is the android welcome logo which becomes darker and darker until the phone eventually reboots, but when i turn it on nothing has changed. I tried other rooting apps, but my phone seems to ignore them. I have also tried a variety of custom recoveries (TWRP, Clockwork) but when i click on recovery on the the fastboot menu it says BOOT UP FAILED. If i then turn it off, enter the fastboot menu and click on the recovery button, it shows the warning logo from motorola you usually get when you turn it on, and then there is the Android laying down with "no command" written on it. What should i do?
Thank you!
Oh yeah, i have Android 5.1
I'm in the same situation as you. Got the bootloader unlocked and am able to install recovery but if I try to enter it I also get the Boot up failed message but before that I have a message saying Failed to load kernel!
Anyone knows what is going wrong?
I tried as the OP both recoveries and different versions of them always with the same result.
I found out what was wrong with my attempt to install TWRP on my phone. I was on the wrong section of it so was trying to install the wrong version of the recovery app. I found the correct TWRP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/help/qa-twrp-moto-g-2015-t3170957

Help with LineageOS installation problem (stuck at fallen android screen) [SOLVED]

Hi . Today I was able to unlock the bootloader on my phone (a motorola g6 plus with android 9) and decided to install the lineageOS. I got to this XDA post, and followed these installation instructions. I did everything till point 5 of the section: Booting a custom recovery using fastboot, which goes: Flash a recovery on your device by typing (replace <recovery_filename> with the actual filename!):
fastboot flash boot <recovery_filename>.img
So I did that with the img file I downloaded at the beginning of that guide, which is called boot.img. So I typed fastboot flash boot boot.img and the output was: fastboot flash boot boot.img
(bootloader) is-logical:boot_a: not found
Sending 'boot_a' (28357 KB) OKAY [ 0.642s]
Writing 'boot_a' OKAY [ 0.756s]
Finished. Total time: 1.454s
Then it was done. Then I went to the next point which says: Now reboot into recovery to verify the installation.
Use the menu to navigate to and to select the Recoveryoption.
info_outlineNOTE: If your recovery does not show the LineageOS logo , you accidentally booted into the wrong recovery. Please start at the top of this section!
So I went to the recovery mode and nothing really happened. The LineageOS logo isn't showing either. So i'm thinking I did something wrong but I tried it in different ways and I can't see the logo and continue with the process. If I press start the motorola logo appears and just stays there. So I can't use the android 9 I got previous to doing this atm. Now I can't power the device off. If i do that it goes directly to the screen with the android lying on it's back with it's chest open.
The fastboot version I got is 34.0.1.
If anyone can give me a hand with this it would be cool.

If you are stuck at the Android screen while trying to install LineageOS, there are a few things you can try:
Make sure you have the correct version of LineageOS for your device. Using an incorrect version can cause issues with installation.
Try wiping the data and cache partitions. This can be done by entering recovery mode and selecting the "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" options.
If wiping the data and cache partitions doesn't work, try flashing the LineageOS ROM again. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully and double-check that you have all the required files.
If the issue persists, try flashing a different custom ROM or restoring your device to the stock firmware.
You can also try searching online for specific solutions to the fallen Android screen issue for your device model. Many forums and communities may have guides or specific instructions to help you troubleshoot.
If none of these solutions work, it may be best to seek out professional help or bring your device to a repair shop.

Hey . Thanks for answering.
1. I have the correct version because I followed the guide from XDA for my device and here it's under the section that says moto g6 plus .
2. I can't enter recovery mode apparently. I haven't use that before but when I press the power button while on the recovery mode option the phone turns black for 1 second and comes back up at the same screen. I can't use the power off option either. So I can't choos those options about wipe data/factory reset/wipe cache partition.
3. I tried several times but I'll try again.
4. I'm gonna try this too. This sounds more promising.
5. I did search but found nothing specific to the problem I'm having. But I'll keep trying.

It seems like you are encountering some issues while attempting to install a custom ROM on your Moto G6 Plus device. Here are a few suggestions to help you troubleshoot the problems:
Make sure that you have downloaded the correct version of the custom ROM for your Moto G6 Plus device. If you followed the guide from XDA, it should be the right version. However, you may want to double-check to make sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware file.
If you are having difficulty entering recovery mode, try the following steps:
Turn off your device completely.
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously until the device boots into recovery mode.
If you are still having issues, try restarting your device and attempting to enter recovery mode again. Sometimes a simple restart can help resolve the issue.
If you are still unable to enter recovery mode, try using a third-party tool like TWRP to enter recovery mode. TWRP is a popular custom recovery tool that can help you install custom ROMs on your device. You can download TWRP for your Moto G6 Plus device from the official TWRP website.
If you have not already done so, try searching online for forums or guides specific to your device and the issues you are encountering. There may be others who have encountered similar issues and have found solutions that could be helpful to you.
Remember that installing a custom ROM can be risky, and you should proceed with caution. Always make sure to backup your data and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your device.

1. I did make sure. Now I tried an older version but I'm having the same result.
2.
I can't turn off the phone completely. Not by pressing the power off option or just long pressing the power button.
Doing that just throws me into the same fallen android screen. That's the only place I can go atm. It says AP Fastboot Flash Mode (secure). That's the screen I'm on.
Restart bootloader just throws me to the same screen.
I had TWRP installed when I begin doing this but I can't enter FACTORY MODE. Like I can't use my phone because it gets stuck at the motorola logo and doesn't start. From what Ik about TWRP it's an app that you use directly on your phone right?. But I can't use android to use my phone. Idk if im explaining myself correctly.
I'm gonna keep searching. I'm finding similar stuff but not the same as I'm experiencing.
Right I knew the consequences. But I'm still gonna try to solve this. I don't care about my data just using my phone.
