[Q] Loop on 4.4.3 upgrade - problems - HELP please - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a factory reload of a rooted phone with CWM.
Now for the CWM issue the Moto G loaded OK and then said there was an update for android to fix some bugs. This was 4.4.3. I loaded it and it gets half way and it then says
"Signature verification fail"
at the bottom of the screen and
" Install Untrusted Package"
The options are yes, no or go back
at the top....
whichever one I try it then tries to boot shows the Android / Motorola screen and starts up gets a txt message for 2-3 seconds... it then goes back to Android CWM recovery with the same options as above and repeats the process. again and again and again. No function keys will stop this cycle which just repeats again. This continues until the battery dies.
any ideas ? how can I override this action in CWM v6.0.4.6 and force it to do a factory reload ? any help or advice much appreciated.

The following thread had a similar problem and was fixed... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53404637

"If you can still power your phone, can you still access the boot loader? If so, I would suggest using adb from a computer to flash Phillz recovery. CWM always gave me a lot of random errors when flashing items. You could use PhillZ to flash the stock ROM for 4.4.2. After that, just follow the same process I did. Download the update zip via the OTA download when it prompts you. Once it's finished, DON'T boot back into Android. Boot into Phillz recovery from the boot loader, move the zip out of the cache and onto sdcard or your computer, and then flash it either straight from the phone or by sideloading it from your computer. Then you'll have a working version of vanilla 4.4.3, and you can flash over a custom ROM in the future if you so choose."
unfortunately I can't get into bootloader. I can connect usb and it makes no difference. therefore adb commands dont work. it just goes straight into screen described with those three options. I'm hoping that there is an override action in CWM which isn't power and volume down which do nothing.
If not how can I force it into bootloader instead please ? any suggestions appreciated.

recovery boot issues - red triangle, then reboot

I'm having issues getting recovery to work on a Verizon version xoom. I first flashed CWM version 4.0.0.4. The first time I tried to boot into it, it was stuck on the android with the red triangle for a long time before finally getting into it (coincidentally when I was hitting the volume key, don't know if that's related). Anyway, since then I haven't been able to get into it. It will be suck on the red triangle screen for a minute or two before rebooting into the stock rom (I'm running stock ICS). Since then, I've tried flashing the new TWRP 2.2.2 or whatever version it is and it has no effect. It's still doing the same thing. Any clue what's wrong?
So what I'm reading is suggesting that the android guy I'm seeing is the stock recovery. I'm not sure how that's happening. I'm installing the recovery using fastboot on my PC and being in the bootloader on my xoom. The prompts on both appear to confirm success.
I haven't tried this yet as I'm at work, but I think I've got the issue sorted. The following is what appears to be happening from what I've read.
1. I've still got the custom recovery stalled. When the Android guy pops up, one needs to press volume up to enter the options. Otherwise, it reboots.
2. The recovery flashes are taking because I'm booting back into the rom after a flash. The system's built in recovery protection is re-flashing the original recovery at that point.
3. To make my CWM/TWRP/whatever flash stick, I'll need to power down and then boot directly into the recovery.
I'll post again tonight to say if this works. Hopefully this thread can help out others who have the same issue.
If you don't get that to work fastboot img from link..

[Q] CWM Recovery not working

Hi,
I have been following XDA since two years and this is the first time i am having to post something due to lack of a relevant thread.
My fastboot nightmare started a month ago, when i had tried to back up my ROM using ROM manager. I tried but failed to use the KDZ update since my phone would not get detected. I flashed a stock firmware using LGMDP to regain functionality of the phone.
On rerooting my phone this time, i think the CWM recovery was not installed properly. My phone used to hard reset every time I tried to reboot into recovery. I used LGMDP again to flash another image of CWM, which got it into the recovery mode but i cant seem to go beyond the main menu. Whenever i select an option on the menu, the screen goes blank, showing only the CWM logo in the background and does not go any further. I cant restart my phone through the menu either, and have to remove my battery and replace it to be able to exit the recovery menu in the first place. Also, my recovery mode shows "E:Bad boot message "recovery" " at the bottom of the screen, which i think used to come before the nightmare too, but i'm not really sure.
Even on updating the recovery through ROM manager, it takes time to flash but is never completed. I get the message saying "An error while flashing your recovery" and that's all.
Please help me out here. After a year of ICS and subsequently JB, i'm having to use GB with no workably way around so you can imagine my frustration.
What do i do?
P.S.:- as i post here, it just clicked me if i should try flashing a different recovery img file through LGMDP. I will let you know if that works. Till then, any and all replies are appreciated.
Alright, my work is done. Flashed AmonRa this time manually using the terminal emulator. I found the solution at:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146566
Thx anyways, guyz...

help!

well iv'e got the 4.4.4 update for my moto g, the update stopped in the middle and then at text screen on the phone it's said the package as an error or something i guess and asked should it install untrusted zip so i did it and my phone was up again only to power off and on every half a minute.
so i want to to text screen((when you press POWER+volume down botton ) and chose the clock work recovery and the phone went back to work again as before with the kit kat 4.4.2 with no power off.
but yet again the device asked me to update to 4.4.4 and i'm an idiot so i did again, before end i cancelled the root on my phone(cause i thought the update stuck because the device is rooted) and let the update install itself again i got the text screen saying there is an error but now it would not let me install the untrusted zip cause i dont have root privileges, i tried to flash the phone with CWR and it said: "mismatched partition size (recovery)" i guess cause i flashed before end with CWR.
so i flashed my device with the TWRP recovery and did wipe (or installed the untrusted zip again, i don't remember) and the device once again was up again.
i again did the 4.4.4 update(yep i'm a idiot i know) and again it stuck, so i again tried to wipe via TWRP and reset the device, before i reset twrp said there is no asked me if it should install the supersu and pressed yes even though i used to towelroot.
now my phone when i turning it on, now its stuck on the screen in the image attached and wont start, if i press POWER+volume button for a few a seconds on the stuck screen i can access the text screen so i tried to flash it again with CWR and TWRP but it says "mismatched partition size (recovery)".
so the device stuck on the screen in the image and i cant flash it with TWRP or CWR, so i tried the recovery option in the text screen but it only shots down the phone.
is there any other recovery besides TWRP or CWR that i can flash my phone with? is there any other way besides flashing it there is not any other alternatives to those two flashes?

i cant attach image cause i'm a new member so -

No.
And please use search. 'Mismatched partition size' has enough results to get you on your way. Flashing the stock rom from fastboot will probably be your solution, but have a look at similar problems that can be found on the forum.

[Q] Stuck in bootloop, recover files

Hello.
Today my oneplus one was suddenly stuck in bootloop. This happened in the middle of the day when I rebooted my phone. My phone was running the latest update that came OTA (stock lollipop). Whenever I boot my phone it starts loading and suddenly a Chrome (browser) window appears for 1 second and tries to load a website. Afterwards my lock screen pop ups for 1 seconds and it starts to reboot. During the lockscreen I tried to unlock my phone as soon as possible, but it just reboots. (Any ideas about this weird problem?)
I CAN boot it in recovery mode by holding volume-down button and power button.
I CAN boot it in fastboot mode by holding volume-up button and power button.
Perhaps a factory reset will do the trick, but I don't have a backup of my files (because this happened so suddenly without me trying to flash/customize my phone). My first priority is recovering my files, because most solutions will end up in me losing every file. Unfortunately I've found little possibility to do this during the bootloop problem. I've tried to flash TWRP because it could make backups of my phone. I tried it through ADB/Fastboot, but it failed because my device is not unlocked (I can't go to settings and put my phone in developer mode and debugging mode). So I've read somewhere that unlocking my phone (bootloader?) through ADB will wipe my phone, which is exactly what I don't want.
Also I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061
But It also failed because my device was not unlocked.
Did I miss some steps somewhere or did I read something wrong?
Hopefully anybody has an idea to either fix the bootloop without losing my data, or finding a way to recover my files before wiping the phone.
Thank you.

Unfortunately you might be stuck in a catch-22 situation here. In order to access the files you'd need to unlock the bootloader, but in doing so you'd lose those files. Without usb debugging already enabled I can't see a way out of this.
Decided to unlock the bootloader through ADB. (bye bye data)
After I've unlocked it, I've tried installing TWRP.
Some minor problems occured but I can finally boot into TWRP through volume-down button + power button.
I've decided to download the stock ROM i've found on the OPO forums.
Couldn't acces my phone through normal methods, so I had to use ADB to push the files into my phone.
Installing the file through TWRP, wiped cache/dalvik and installed super user before rebooting.
After rebooting my phone is stuck on the boot screen now. (This also happened before I installed TWRP on my phone)
I've also tried this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
Also no succes. I'm stuck in the bootscreen where it says 'cyanogen'.
EDIT: Managed to fix it eventually through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061 (part 2) writing the command in TWRP.
Phone finally boots normally again.

Hopefully the stock cyanogen OS.
First I've tried to flash cyanogenmod 12 through TWRP (file is found here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm12s-yng1tas17l-installation-guide-review-change-log.304615/)
Afterwards I was still stuck in bootscreen, so I've looked for another solution.
Which made me find this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
After flashing this file (probably the same thing) the problem still remained.
Eventually after multiple wipes/factory resets (which did not solve the problem) I've entered the command in TWRP and after reboot it finally worked again.
So I basically flashed my phone twice, once through TWRPS and the other through the batch file (perhaps ADB?).
Also no errors occured which stopped the flashing and commands. Did have to reinstall TWRP and reboot instantly in it by holding the volume down button multiple times. This doesnt happen anymore though.
Only had to install google apps for CM12 (gapps), for which I used TWRP in recovery mode.
Currently reinstalling most apps on my phone and no problems yet.

Unless something has changed, version 6. requires that you flash a special kernel before you can root your phone otherwise you are as you are now, stuck in a boot loop. You should probably download the factory image from Google, and then flash the system image to get rid of what you have done.. Perhaps then your phone will start normally

Also, you mentioned a 'special kernel' what does that mean. All i want to do to my device is install cyanogenmod 12 and for that i believe it needs to be rooted, so i am really confused. What should I do know
I'm having this same problem, and unfortunately, when I start the phone on fastboot, I can not access the recovery mode in order to upload a factory image of nexus 5.
I used the new tool available her for quick flash, and now, I don't have a phone.
First, don't panic. Your phone is still very easy to recover. Unfortunately I can't get you a complete walkthrough here (for now at least), so I'll give you the main idea and you'll have to do your homework (as maybe you should have done before).
1. You need to get fastboot working on your computer. It's included in the Android sdk package, but there might be some easier way to get it. Google it. You might need drivers for your pc too. Google it as well.
2. Then you need to get into fastboot mode on your phone. To do it, hold down power button AND volume down button until it gets into fastboot mode. You will see an android on his back with the cover open. At this point, connect your phone to your pc, open a terminal on your pc and type "fastboot devices" without the quotes "". It should find your phone if fastboot is working. If it doesn't work go back to step 1.
3. Download TWRP recovery on your pc and place the img file in the same folder as your fastboot executable (not mandatory but easier). It can be found here https://dl.twrp.me/hammerhead/
4. Always in fastboot mode, type "fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.1-hammerhead.img" assuming you downloaded that file, which you should have by the way. It should install fine. If you haven't placed the file in the same directory as your fastboot executable, you will need to provide the path to your img file as well.
5. Then use the volume rocker to switch between modes and choose reboot recovery.
6. You should now be in TWRP recovery. At this point, download a custom kernel (anyone found on xda for hammerhead should do) and push it to your phone. It should be fairly simple with TWRP. Then flash your new kernel using install. It should help you get your phone booting normally. Alternatively, you can download a custom ROM like cm12.1 and flash it altogether. It will install everything needed for your phone to boot up too. Beware if flashing a ROM though, I strongly advice you to do a factory reset before flashing it. You will find that option in the wipe menu.
Hope it helps, let me know if you need further assistance.
Yesterday, I have tried everything to have my computer to recognize the "fastboot" command, and I installed like 2 or 3 different programs for that. With my old Windows 7, I have been able to push a flashed image to fix this issue, using the fastboot command, but with Windows 10, it's always telling me it's not a valid command. I'll keep trying it, otherwise, i'll have to "resurrect" my old Windows XP computer.
Also, I noticed now that, while trying to install the fastboot, as per some files that I could download, but no file has been copied into my computer, not even if I run it as admin.
fixed. but no RECOVERY mode options....
Hi Guys,
Thank you very much for the help, I have finally recovered the phone and running android 6.0 MRA58N but it is not rooted. Now if you don't mind could you teach me how to root because i have checked lots of videos and tuts but none worked for me...
IMPORTANT:
when i am in recovery mode why cannot I access options even when i press volume up + power button and release them at the same time...????
Thanks in advance.
Just flash a custom recovery via fastboot. Just make sure your bootloader is unlocked. Can't link though.
