If you haven't seen it yet, Further Beyond Fighting is now officially Xperia PLAY Optimized.
I remember playing this on iOS... and it was kind of a wreck... kinda >_>.
Looking at the reviews on both the iOS and Android versions, it's clear that "touch-screen" and "fighting game" just don't belong in the same sentence... this game got rated a lot lower than it deserves just from that.
Swapping between touch and physical controls, it's a MASSIVE difference.
Now it's all smooth-as-butter performance, WITH controls that respond

Think I'll still to Tekken 3 on PSXperia
Looks almightily pants..that game.
there is street figter on IOS...gawdddd i want it so bad on ANDROmeda.
Graphics is great, but the gameplay is not that good.. There's no spectacular combo, I can't jump either.. there's also a random lag on my phone..

I had Street Fighter IV Volt on my 4th Gen iPod Touch... Capcom did alright with the limitations they had to work with, but compared to buttons it still sucked ass.
I'm hoping Capcom will release SFIV Volt on Xperia PLAY too so I can play it for real.
has very bad reviews.. bruce lee is even better despite its insane difficulty.. (just the memorize-all-combos part though)

Of course it does... people been playing it with horrible touch-controls.
Lol if I had to play a fighter with touch-controls, I'd give it a very bad rating too. It's not perfect, of course, but after playing with touch controls then getting a substantially more responsive experience on Xperia PLAY, this feels like a brand new game. This is why Xperia PLAY kicks every other smartphone's ass at gaming.
Bad reviews because of it being poorly polished, that is. Judging from the game's screenies and video, it looks mediocre. Half-cooked. That's why.
I'm kinda addicted now.. I just love fighting games.. Eventhough I can't jump, no touch pad support, no good combo, only few characters.. but i'm sure this will not take that long because of those issues..

I doubt anything will beat Tekken 3 to be honest.
This doesn't look good at all.
No, this game looks terrible. I mean if this game had better gameplay and graphics then it would be worth it. It seems like a bad game from a fly by night vaporware dev. No offense to anyone who enjoys this game.
Exactly. Nailed it.
Hey There!
Hi Guys, it's us from PJS-Coding - developers of Further Beyond Fighting!
First: Thank you TLRtheory for this thread. We're glad you're all discussing our game.
Regarding all your feedback: We plan to implement new combo moves shortly.
New moves are a top priority for one of the next updates. And if you have any feedback and features you want us to implement, just drop us a mail: support.android(AT)further-beyond-fighting(DOT)com
We're available 365 days a year and respect all the feedback we get. TLRtheory can confirm that; he was one of the persons who asked us to add Xperia PLAY support. And now it's here!
Stay in touch!
Now that's what I like to see from a dev.
I think its great that you are listening and participating through the Xda community. I wonder is or was there ever a demo release of the title? It seems that a round or two of the game would open the flood gates for areas of oppurtunites.

Thanks for dropping by here. We appreciate it.. We are expecting some great combos, characters are able to jump, new unlockable characters, etc. to your next update.. I dunno what are those preferred graphics of Eros but for me graphics is great, I love to see their wounds and bruises..
I'll just leave this here.

Currently, we have no demo release. But we had some discussions going around regarding a free-to-play version. We will keep you updated when there will be a release.

IMO a demo would be a better idea than a "free to play" version, I tend to stay away from free to play games or free games with in app purchases. As these tend to alway run in the background, and flood your notification bar with "special offers" Gun bros by glu is a prime example of this
I really loved playing Gun Bros but uninstalled for that very reason.
I'll admit... I've been waiting for this game for months even before it's English translation was announced. Having them suddenly announce that it'd be released today had me F5'ing the **** out of their page
I like old-school style RPGs; but playing games I've already played before via emulators is kinda depressing. I do like that KEMCO's mixing in just that right balance of old and new school so that their RPGs don't have those archaic old-school RPG issues, but also don't kill that ever-so-mysterious *charm* that era's RPGs had. Judging by the scores of their previous RPG releases (Symphony of Eternity, Eve of the Genesis, Alphadia and Grinsia) the known name behind games such as Dragon View and Shadowgate still got it!... and so far, this is even better than their last Xperia PLAY RPGs!
I hate to remove Galaxy Hero from my website's featured game spot, but Aeon Avenger's in town!

I can always count on you to find kickass JRPGs that just appeared on Google Play. Much thanks.

I have been keeping an eye out for this game since I saw the original and that it was being translated in to English. Thank you..... awesome find my friend.
Bought it.......
What makes this one special? I admit Kemco have stepped up their game considerably, even releasing a video opening for such an old relearn as Eve of the Genesis... The tune is catchy too. However, I feel they're a bit too conservative with their games, and I really hope they release a killer app because they really try hard.
No Logseman, this game is not conservative, this game looks OLD, and as I said in another Kemco game's thread, looks like it has been made with RPG maker.
Even 2D RPG games for PSX looked far more advanced than this.
We are in the year 2012, but seems that Kemco doesn't know it.
Yeah it looks a little old, but looks are not everything. I for one am glad the Kemco is making these RPGs and not only that makiung them compatible with our devices....so Kemco..... THANK YOU!!

I was actually asking about gameplay. 2D graphics ate not an issue for me if they're well bundled with a good story. That's where I don't want them to be conservative.

Ditto.
BTW, this is far above the league of anything made in RPGmaker... I don't even understand what form of dementia would make him bring that up again seeing as the entire notion got trampled over last time he tried that. KEMCO's RPGs are thricefold the depth of anything that could be created in RPGmaker, the resolution is much higher, and the graphical detail is much higher... meaning the only thing they really have in common is that they're 2D.
I'm starting to wonder if it's just a common troll trend to call all non-SQEnix 2D RPGs "RPGmaker lookin crap".

Myself and most ohers dont care for trolls, but still point being Kemco is awesome for making these games available to the masses, and I do hope they bring there other Japanese rpg games to the masses as well..... people can troll all they want, People will enjoy it or not. For me....I will be enjoying it.... and for those that enjoy it show your support by buying the game, because ultimately its about revenue and if people buy the game and Kemco sees there is profit and interest we will continue to see good things come from it.
Currently for Xperia PLAY from Kemco we have the awesome games:
Eve of the Genesis
Aeon Avenger
Symphony of Eternity.
All three are great, my favorites being Eve & Aeon. I wanted to let everyone know I have contacted Kemco and asked them about their other RPG games that are on the market but not available in English. Here is what I wrote to them, all games in question have the web page link, from there you can see the three games I have if you are interested.

Hello,
Currently I have Aeon Avenger, Symphony of Eternity, Eve of the Genesis on my Xperia PLAY and I love these games. They have provided me with a lot of entertainment. I have noticed there are several other games listed on the Google PLAY store that say they are for Japanese only. Can you tell me if any of the following games will be released in English and have Xperia PLAY support..
Machine Knight: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImtlbWNvLmhpdHBvaW50Lm1hY2hpbmUiXQ..

Solitude of Covenant: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kemco.magitec.solitude&feature=search_result
I would appreciate any feedback as myself and many others would love to see more of these RPG games come to English speaking Xperia PLAY users and to the android community as a whole. Thank you for your time. And thank you for releasing these to the market and for making them Xperia PLAY optimized.
Sincerely,
Jesse

Whatever response I get I will post here, if you are a fan of not only RPG's but RPG's for Xperia PLAY please email Kemco at the above email address and request that more RPG games come to not only the Android community but also Xperia PLAY. Seriously these RPG's are a lot of fun and I have really had a lot of fun and enjoyment playing these games.
I'm still buggin' them to Xperia Play Optimize Grinsia and Alphadia... I'll actually care about those games when they're optimized
...btw, have you seen the trailer for Symphony of the Origin? That looks better than a handful of RPGs on my PSP/DS!

Dear customer,
This is KEMCO_GAMES support representative.
Thank you very much for having played our games!
I'm afraid we cannot guarantee anything about future releases(in
English) or Xperia supports. However, our intention is to launch as much
games as possible for the people all over the world to give them the
chance to have fun with our JRPGs.
During that time, we can show you other RPGs which are already localized
in English and available on Google Play.

If you liked Aeon Avenger, Symphony of Eternity and Eve of the Genesis,
I'm sure you'll like them as well.

Yesm Kemco's JRPGs are great. I have played and beaten Symphony of Eternity (not my favorite of the 3 I have beaten but still good) Eve of the Genesis, Aeon Avenger. These games are serioulsy... a lot of fun. Cannot praise them enough. Some of the dialogue is a little cheesy but still good games.
mmm, maybe after Persona 2 and Thales of Phantasia i will try this games

Enjoy! I now I have certainly enjoyed many many Kemco JRPGs on my Xperia PLAY. I still thank them every so often for keeping these games optimized when they are updated.
This is a game that doesn't need an introduction for most of us gamers from the SNES era. But for those of you who have NEVER heard from Chrono Trigger, you need to check this out.
This game is not only one of the best RPGs of all time, but one of the best games overall. Featuring multiple endings, an amazing and dynamic battle system, and a great and charming cast of characters designed by Akira Toriyama (you may know this guy from Dragon Ball Z). It's a masterpiece from beginning to end.
I know the $10 price can drive most people away. But for 15+ hours of great storytelling and epic battles, it is worth every penny.
Well, enough introductions. Here's the link to the Play store, enjoy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...VfZW5peC5hbmRyb2lkX2dvb2dsZXBsYXkuY2hyb25vIl0.
Come on square enix where's secret of mana! ?!?

The game was ported from the Nintendo DS version, which was ported from SNES (they just improved graphics and music). Isn't it much better to play it with an emulator?

The DS port had extra dungeons and an extra ending as well. It wasn't a straight port.

First of all you missed two steps
1995 = SNES
1999 = playstation 1
2009 = Nintendo DS
2011 = Wii Console and iOS devices
2012 = Android
Second, no. There is no stable or dependable Nintendo DS emulator and while it's essentially the same game, when you've been playing it for nearly 20 years (like we real fans do), you kinda want the dimensional vortex and lost sanctum content to play with as well. There is only so much you can do to make the game experience unique and I long ago got tired of naming characters their actual real names (Nadia, Janus, R66-Y, Glenn, etc)
There's only so many times you can see the like dozen endings yknow
I bought mine yesterday. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that I don't get the 2x game speed option that I had on emulators. Level grinding takes forever now
Otherwise, well worth it. Best RPG ever, hands down. By the way, OP, you forgot to mention that while the characters were done by the Dragon Ball Z people, the game itself was designed by the Final Fantasy people. Dream Team ftw.
I did not remember the game being so ugly.
Are you sure they haven't made it worse than the console edition?

It does appear to have been filtered, I wish SE added the option to switch it on and off. And yes I forgot: the game was the love-child of the Final Fantasy team AND the creator of the Dragon Quest series. Yet still this is not a typical turn-based RPG...you gotta see it for yourself.
my life is complete.
Quick question for you guys. I actually want to buy the game to support square and hopefully get them to release more of their catalog for android, but I'd really like to be able to play the game when not connected to the internet. I've seen apk+data downloads - my question is, if I buy the game from the market, and just put the data in the folder the downloads suggest, can I then play it anywhere? Or will it not work that way? If not, I'll just buy it and play other games when I'm off the network (annoying) but if there's a way to both support the dev and be able to play it the way I want, that would be perfect.
one of the best games!
Love this game
I like secret of mana better.
Via PadFone on Tapatalk. Tablet/Laptop phone ftw!
I downloaded Final Fantasy 3/6 because it is suppose to rival this game but doubt it would.
In today's world of CoD and Halo with each game looking like a different regurgitation of the last, this game still stands proud today. Amazing character development, I remember at least 5 different endings. How many games change the plot from the choices you make in game today? Me and my two brothers would play this together (one would play the other two would watch) on the first snes emulator that came out. We would Name two of the characters after the two older brothers and the third character (frog) we were suppose to name after my little brother but we just nicknamed him after my little bro instead ''Farty" The dialog turned out to be amazing because of it.
What happened to good gaming? What happened to the sniper battles of MGS, or fighting a boss who made you unplug your controller (literally). The environment of FFX. Gaming today sucks! And don't say it has gone to platform, it's gotten better there but it sucks there too! I have an amazing PC rig but no games to enjoy it for.
We have all the money and power but no creativity to put to it.
Charge on my beloved XDA devlopers. Prove them wrong.

Never played it, but Chrono Cross is really good. I just want them to start releasing Kingdom Heart games.
I used to play this game on DS, it's nice to be able to play it again on android, thanx :good:
Hey guys!
I love playing games (on my PC, Xbox or Smartphone)!
I really hate how much "casual" game junk is in the playstore and I can't seem to find some good "story-driven" games...
Do you have some suggestions for me?
For your interest:
I love playing RPGs (gothic, risen, the witcher, dragon age, skyrim etc.)
Shooter are good, as long as they have a good story!!
I really dislike everything casual (like farmville etc.) so please don't suggest me stuff like that
Money is no problem so post everything you got as long as it's worth it
hope you guys can help me, because i'd really like to play some good games on my smartphone when I work abroad...

I suggest you to try the Sorcery! games. For now there are two parts (a third one in development) and they are completely story driven. Both of them look like a tabletop style game, with combat, nice hand drawn images which shows you how the game universe looks like, spells and many paths to choose (great replay value). Since money are no problem ,I fully recommend touy them. Also, after you finished the first game, you can sync your saves to the second one to continue the story with the skills, energy, items and gold from the first one (it also influence your game very much, both in gameplay and in relations with the NPCs).
I'd recommend you Aralon - Sword and Shadow. Also try Limbo.
Purchased it yesterday as it is on sale
Will look "avalorn" up later when I'm home
Thomas Was Alone. I'm not joking. I guess it's a puzzle platformer, but it has excellent narration and a charming story. I'd compare it to Portal but without the offensive parts. Not casual like FarmVille, but more casual than RPGs. So, your call, but I think it's a great game.
