Hi.
I have talked with friend of mine who has developed couple Android applications about making some games for android. We have worked together before on one game and we have working 3d engine that was successfully ported to Android.
My part in this will be to make up some cool game, and to do all graphics (2d and 3D).
So if you don't mind, I will love to hear from rest of android users, what types of games do you prefer or will like to play on your mobile device. That will help us a lot in this early stages to make some concept that will be interesting to more people.
Thank you all.
P.S. you can chose multiply types in poll.
Simple, addicting, and smooth.

Games that can be played with one hand. Of course good graphic is always good. Whenever I'm riding subway, I have to stand and have to play with one hand cause the other hand is holding a pole to hold my body. It sucks cause the only game i can play that's fun with one hand is Abduction!
city jump!
good one handed fun

yeah; it's a nice game; I was kind of suprised by it.
P.S. I don't wan't to sound inpatient or annoying, but I would like if more people had given their vote... Topic has over 170 views, and just 12 votes... It will be really helpful if i get more votes.
Thank you all once again.
I prefer single player RPGs like the Elder scrolls games, mmorpgs are always full of annoying kids and griefers.
I'm a big fan of simple games. What I would like to see the most is some kind on simcity like game. Something that I can play casully at work but has depth to it.

agreed but I still enjoy SLASH'EM on my N1
How do you select the poll using the xda app?
As for gaming, simple addictive and easy control, angry birds is obviously one of the best portable games, love pocket legends but it requires a good solid internet connection to play, not always available, wordsmith is probably my favourite a game played using minimal internet use online but at your leisure, basic scrabble really.

I vote for some good bluetooth/wifi adhoc multiplayer games, co-op would be cool, Golden Axe or BubbleBubble style, not internet multiplayer games as I have a PC for that.
I play quick games on my phone.
I go for a morning coffee and my mates are not there so a play a bit of angry birds, simple 5 min games. Nip to the loo to sit on the throne and the same there. more in-depth games i stick to the PC
But saying that I did enjoy playing The Scummvm games i.e. monkey island on my Palmtop, as long as I can end the game suddenly and pick up where I left off the next time.

Hey all
I'm thinking of buying this really nice tablet. But of course, it needs to be properly justified with the powers-that-be (The Wife).
Anyway I'd really like to use it with my almost 3-yo son but I'm not sure if there are *good* apps for kids. Entertaining apps but also some that could be educational. I don't want a simple doodling app, but something engaging and interactive.
The iPad has tons of these, I know. But want to know how large is the market for these apps on Android?
Thanks!
I've only played with Kid Mode and its pretty good but taking a quick look at the market there is a lot out there. Would need someone who actually has children and use them to give a verdit tho.
Oceanhouse Media have done a lot of Dr. Seuss learning apps but they are paid apps.
I don't mind payed, as long as they're good. Dr Seuss's stuff sounds interesting, though I'm from Latin America and his work (if he even is a person, I don't know) is really little known...
Like you said, I'd love to hear from people with little kids on their experiences. Mind you I'm looking for something more than "something to keep him off my back" if you know what I mean
I recommend to buy the stuffed animals and play together outside, because it develops more. If you like some things it does not necessarily been good for your child.
Good advice. Although stuffed animals dont do very well in the outdoors
But some interactivity for when indoors is always welcome.
... Iwas looking for some good apps for kids, but almost no luck.
My 2,5 yr old boy likes machines - cars, trains, wheels of all kind etc.
Unfortunatelly almost everything I found for kids for android is animal oriented - all sort of boring human like fluffy animals.
So my boy stick with watching tunes on youtube, drawing with Drawing Pad (paid) and coloring with Zebra Paint. Everything else - no interest.
Also love to watch someone playing Angry Birds...
Didn't tried Dr.Zeuss - he doesn't speak english (yet...
I'm really missing what I've seen on iPad
Anyway I will appreciate if someone finds something for kids of this age (2-4) and will report if I find something.
Monkey Preschool Lunchbox
I have a 1 1/2 year old and he loves this game. He doesn't get how to do all the games yet so I help him a lot or he uses my hand to complete the puzzles. It was offered on Amazon for free one day, so I grabbed it. I play it on my rooted NookColor with my little one. My TF is on the way and I'm sure it will do much better on there.

I only really play strategy games - but there doesnt seem to be anything truly deep and polished.
Please recommend me something that i can play over the holidays so i dont have to bring my laptop and play MEIOU!
Hi,
If you are a strategy fan here are some ideas:
Gameloft HD games where you will find games like: The Settlers HD and Star Front Collision HD (this game is like Starcraft) and Eternal Legacy HD and other great games
Or from the Android Market where you can find games like Catan, Tank Hero or if you like Tower Defense games you may want to try Fieldrunners HD or Myth Defense or you can even play Heroes 2 or Heroes 3 using VCMI- but you must have the original game.
You also have the option to play 3D MMORPG games like Pocket Legends or the new Star Legends.
Also keep in mind that you also have the Amazon Appstore for Android where you can find games like Plants vs. Zombies.
Have a great day!
No no no no! I want a STRATEGY GAME! Not a time waster or RTS.
Im talking Master of Orion or Civilization here...
I like the game Phage
Oh wow i really like phage! Thanks for the recommend!

hello all,
I first noticed the onslaught of acradey games over the true strategy ones when i moved from winmob.
There are a few risk like games, but nothing similar to age of wonders etc.
I too am looking tor polished turn based strategy like warlords/age of wonders.
There are a few hobbyist made games which you may like Xenowar ( a simplified version of UFO). There's also a new history channel game called great battles :medieval but it's 7 quid. too expensive for me without a demo.
But most do lack polish and or depth.
I hope someone can prove me wrong.
if i see another tower defence game i'll scream.

Hi everyone. Just want a bit of help really. I want a good Final Fantasy type RPG to sink my teeth into, and was wondering which you all think is the best. Every time I look on the Market I just keep getting MMO's, lol. It can be either 2D or 3D.
hey, i visit these forums everyday but i just forgot i had an account xD by the way, i know some titles.
Symphony of Eternity (JRPG)
Eve of the Genesis (JRPG)
Zenonia 1,2,3 (Action-JRPG much like 2d zeldas)
Eternal Legacy (JRPG, its the gameloft version of FF13, i think its quite boring)
these are also endless possibilities with emulators. even if you don't have an xplay, JRPGs are playable on touchscreen
i'd also like to expand the topic a little bit. I'm searching for western rpgs, as close as elder scrolls as possible. On android, there are some open world games like GTA3 or GOF2, but they are not rpgs, also there's no fantasy medieval setting. Earth and legend is kinda sucky and boring. Dungeon hunter 2 is a bad diablo/torchlight clone.
Then, there are emulators. On the psx theres diablo which is awesome and addictive, but its far from being a WRPG. There is also a jap-only version of ultima underworld but its, ya know... jap-only. On the snes there is ultima 6, might and magic 3, and eye of the beholder. The former has a strange system (can't really figure out what to do), the latter two are candidates even if they have parties and the action window is small. Haven't tried them yet. Exact same for Mazes of fate on the GBA. On the n64 there's gauntlet legends which is like diablo if i'm not mistaken. Then there's of course zelda OOT, MM and a bunch of horrible games like quest 64. The zelda titles are of course awesome but they're not what i'm looking for.
Someone has managed to get daggerfall running on andosbox. I tried and it went slow and laggy as in his video. However he pm'd me saying it can be made to run at full speed.
In the end, i'd really like suggestions, on android games and emulators alike. I hope i haven't gone off topic, just wanted to help bluescorpion and to not get clumsy with a redundant topic.

Thanks for the help man, I'll try them out. And I totally forgot about my emulators, lol. I'm gonna DL FFV and Secret of Mana.
I wish you could get the original Fallout on Android.
I've had a hell of a fun time playing Eve of Genesis. There are so many hidden items to obtain, extra bosses after the "final" boss and a lot of customization with the characters and skills.
Zenonia 3 was also a lot of fun. Very hack and slash but good for a playthrough. This game also has extra content after beating the game the first time. There is a "Hard" mode and a "Hell" mode as well.
SNES RPGs are plentiful. Don't think I need to go into the mainstream ones but if you haven't played Treasure Hunter G, find a translated ROM immediately and play it. Only released in Japan but it's an amazing game.
No problem man fallout is completely mouse driven, right? dunno if that could work for me. I also thought about GemRB for baldur's gate ecc., is it worth it? does it work on the gamepad? I think many of those games need mouse anyway.
as for JRPGs, if you take emulators into account there's a whole lot even of non-mainstream ones. On the SNES try Star Ocean, Terranigma and Illusion of Gaia, on the PSX try Persona, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve (the first one), Chrono Cross and Wild Arms. Of course if you don't know them already.
Huh, onlive has the witcher. Can it be played on the xplay? I can't try as i'm not in uk/us. Maybe there's a way around that
You can always emulate classic PsOne RPGs like FF7 8 9 on FPSE if you're feeling
android RPGs are bad..
On my case I'm still playing Spectral Souls and its a good one for me.. Id also want to try out Generation of Chaos but buying a second pricey RPG game is too much for me right now. But hyperdevbox games speaks for itself, their games are good compared to other games which looks like it was made from RPGmaker.
Ive tried Eternal Legacy since it has nice graphics but I quit playing after a few hours since I find less action and effort of Gameloft here to actually even clone Final Fantasy. I hate that you can only select commands for the main character and just select a command profile for the other party members.. *sigh*
that's my main thoughts on the turn-based RPGs.
If Im going to play a slash-and-destroy-your-way RPG I'd definitely pick Dungeon Hunter over cartoony Zenonia series but both are good games you should get.
But right now, aside from hyperdevbox RPGs, I'd say PSOne RPGS are still best.

Truthfully, I would have to agree with you on that. I'm not feeling the love for many of the mobile games. Maybe I'm just old, I dunno. Although I do like plenty of newer PC RPGs. **cough Skyrim** But that is a different animal all together. The Zenonia series deserves a good score though, it's a good action RPG. Also, Pocket Legends seems good enough to be a totally free MMO. Neither of those are really like Final Fantasy though. Run all the PSOne Final Fantasy games though PSXPeria and/or FPSE and you'll be in heaven. I'm playing through Final Fantasy Tactics right now. I'm also after the dozens of PSOne RPGs that I never got too, such as Xenogears, Grandia and Chrono Cross. Google something like Top PSX RPGs and you'll find tons of top 10 type lists with lots of RPGs.
Use GameBoid to emulate Golden Sun and its sequel.

You won't find a single mobile phone game at sixty dollars either. I'm afraid good story telling, scripting and so on has its price and it will never get cheaper, it's not like graphical power which has catch-up economies and gets cheaper to use with time.
I agree with logs, your comparing 2 diffrent genres, mobile games are cheap to make and cheap to buy, console games have massive budgets and hundreds maybe thousands of people involved in the development, where as mobile games would be lucky to have a team of 10 programmers.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
If you're looking for something that's actually console-quality, go for Spectral Souls and Generation of Chaos.
Kind of unfair listing those since they are actually full-on console ports, but hey... they're in unplayable condition on PSP, so Android's pretty much their only real releases. I'll let you know right now that, if you can leap over that psychological "Holy ****, that's $15 for a goddamn phone game!" barrier, you'll have found the games that don't 'feel' like mobile phone RPGs.
Honestly, I don't mind the mobile phone RPGs either. Symphony of the Eternity, Alphadia and Eve of the Genesis have brought me something I've been wanting for a while... some Final Fantasy-like games from their 2D prime that have a new, fresh feel.
yeah, i forgot about Spectral Souls, but i've never been into strategy RPGs, i thought he didn't want that stuff.
Hey TLR, i sent you a pm on youtube about open world WRPGs, could you give it a look when you have time? It can also add a bit to the discussion here

This is a game that doesn't need an introduction for most of us gamers from the SNES era. But for those of you who have NEVER heard from Chrono Trigger, you need to check this out.
This game is not only one of the best RPGs of all time, but one of the best games overall. Featuring multiple endings, an amazing and dynamic battle system, and a great and charming cast of characters designed by Akira Toriyama (you may know this guy from Dragon Ball Z). It's a masterpiece from beginning to end.
I know the $10 price can drive most people away. But for 15+ hours of great storytelling and epic battles, it is worth every penny.
Well, enough introductions. Here's the link to the Play store, enjoy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...VfZW5peC5hbmRyb2lkX2dvb2dsZXBsYXkuY2hyb25vIl0.

First of all you missed two steps
1995 = SNES
1999 = playstation 1
2009 = Nintendo DS
2011 = Wii Console and iOS devices
2012 = Android
Second, no. There is no stable or dependable Nintendo DS emulator and while it's essentially the same game, when you've been playing it for nearly 20 years (like we real fans do), you kinda want the dimensional vortex and lost sanctum content to play with as well. There is only so much you can do to make the game experience unique and I long ago got tired of naming characters their actual real names (Nadia, Janus, R66-Y, Glenn, etc)
There's only so many times you can see the like dozen endings yknow
I bought mine yesterday. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that I don't get the 2x game speed option that I had on emulators. Level grinding takes forever now
Otherwise, well worth it. Best RPG ever, hands down. By the way, OP, you forgot to mention that while the characters were done by the Dragon Ball Z people, the game itself was designed by the Final Fantasy people. Dream Team ftw.
I did not remember the game being so ugly.
Are you sure they haven't made it worse than the console edition?

It does appear to have been filtered, I wish SE added the option to switch it on and off. And yes I forgot: the game was the love-child of the Final Fantasy team AND the creator of the Dragon Quest series. Yet still this is not a typical turn-based RPG...you gotta see it for yourself.
my life is complete.
Quick question for you guys. I actually want to buy the game to support square and hopefully get them to release more of their catalog for android, but I'd really like to be able to play the game when not connected to the internet. I've seen apk+data downloads - my question is, if I buy the game from the market, and just put the data in the folder the downloads suggest, can I then play it anywhere? Or will it not work that way? If not, I'll just buy it and play other games when I'm off the network (annoying) but if there's a way to both support the dev and be able to play it the way I want, that would be perfect.
one of the best games!
Love this game
I like secret of mana better.
Via PadFone on Tapatalk. Tablet/Laptop phone ftw!
I downloaded Final Fantasy 3/6 because it is suppose to rival this game but doubt it would.
In today's world of CoD and Halo with each game looking like a different regurgitation of the last, this game still stands proud today. Amazing character development, I remember at least 5 different endings. How many games change the plot from the choices you make in game today? Me and my two brothers would play this together (one would play the other two would watch) on the first snes emulator that came out. We would Name two of the characters after the two older brothers and the third character (frog) we were suppose to name after my little brother but we just nicknamed him after my little bro instead ''Farty" The dialog turned out to be amazing because of it.
What happened to good gaming? What happened to the sniper battles of MGS, or fighting a boss who made you unplug your controller (literally). The environment of FFX. Gaming today sucks! And don't say it has gone to platform, it's gotten better there but it sucks there too! I have an amazing PC rig but no games to enjoy it for.
We have all the money and power but no creativity to put to it.
