Whenever I try to share pictures clicked with my either of cameras, the photo is processed in the gallery automatically.
When we take a screencap of the photo and the actual photo when shared via any app, One can tell there is noticable difference between two of the photos.
There is some processing with the photos you can witness as soon as you touch the share button.
In my opinion it sort of works like HDR. You can notice the colors are more vibrant when the photo is shared but you cant have that with every picture. Face looks reddish in selfies..
This happens irrespective of the HDR is on or off.

go Settings>Display>Screen mode then switch to AMOLED Cinema. Samsung's adaptive display feature adapts screen sharpness and contrast based on app

I'm a big picture guy and wanted to know if any of you guys have adjusted any of the settings and have noticed better picture quality. I must say taking off auto-focus does help with the blurryness a little as stated in a previous post but just wanted to know what differences have you made/seen...
I currently have most things set to default.

Set it to highest resolution.
You will probably have to go to another app to really get good pictures. The stock app compresses them down too much. Hopefully, they will improve it in later updates. There is no excuse for not having more features like Camera 360 - the camera can do much better.
Ditto for the "720p" video. Did some side-by-side with a still camera that has a 720p mode - night and day difference in quality. Again, hope/wonder if this can also be upgraded with only software.
Switch to standard photo size by switching off widescreen mode. All widescreen does is lop off pixels from the top and bottom of your photos. If you really wanted that, just do it yourself in a photo editor. You are not using the full resolution of your camera in widescreen mode, and 16:9 photos are non-standard when it comes to printing either 4x6 or 5x7 photos.
Since I bought a smartphone with widescreen display, I'd like to browse pictures in full widescreen mode.
Well, it sounds easy but I can't find a way to do it with the Nexus5 through stock apps.
When browsing pictures in portrait through the Gallery this is what i get: the picture is cropped with 4 fat useless black bars on each side.
No way to get fullscreen with stock apps?

i use the gallery app(aosp), not photos. depending on the size of the photo, it will display more or less black bars. if the size of the photo fits the whole screen, then the whole screen is used.
Keep in mind the phone is taking pictures in a 4:3 aspect ratio which will never fill a 16:9 aspect ratio screen fully.
I suspect you realize that however and are just looking for a photo viewer app that uses Immersive Mode or Transparent Mode to hide the navigation bar. Check out this thread which has been outlining which apps have taken advantage of this feature already.

Not really, the size of the picture is actually a perfect 1080p (same aspect ratio of the Nexus5 display), and i took the screenshot with stock gallery app.

Yes i realized that, in fact i'm taking pictures in 2mpx only for that reason.
Looks like with stock Android you can't take nor view pictures in real fullscreen mode........
Use this instead of the horrible AOSP gallery or G+ Photos https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder

I noticed, while comparing to my note 3 and a friends sony z ultra, that when I take a photo and go to see it in the gallery, the picture is not very clear..i would say a little blurry, while the other two phones shows the picture crystal clear(i tried in auto mode, outdoors and at sunlight). However, when I zoom in , it gets clear. Is it a software bug?? Has anyone noticed that??
Which ROM are you on?
And you have best quality pic in settings?

Are you using QuickPic? There's an option in settings that intentionally blurs the picture to save power.
I am on 33 stock rom. I am using stock camera app. And i have 100℅ picture quality. Havent you noticed it??
He means the gallery in the camera app and not the standalone gallery app. This issue doesn't happen on the gallery app. When you are looking at a picture fully zoomed out, it looks decent. But if you zoom in any amount with your fingers, the picture gets much sharper once you stop.
The zoomed out view is too big for your picture viewer to get a good preview.
So i use the camera to take photos of sports. this is generally several people moving past at similar times.
If like to use something like the old burst function to do this. I can then go back and select the photos i want that evening. However when using timeshift it just looks like a laggy video (screen lags behind the camera dramatically) and i have to select a photo (possibly not the one i want) before moving on. Is there any way to change this?
Unfortunately the camera app and its dedicated applications are abandoned by Sony, same comes for 4K and other modes

Can anyone recommend a camera app that name the photos with date and is equal or better in quality than stock app with auto settings?
I have tried some apps but I always go back to stock app because it seems like better photo quality
The stock HTC Camera app lacks filtered shots and a live photo option. The live photo option, Zoe Camera, was last available in the HTC 10, capable of taking 3 second live photos like iPhones.
So if you want those features, you can try Camera MX, as it has both live photo and filtered shot features. What I like about this app is how close it is in quality to the stock camera's auto mode, plus it adds all kinds of special effect filters and overlays to its feature set. Best of all, I have the option to do live photos.
