Camera. Is it a software bug???? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed, while comparing to my note 3 and a friends sony z ultra, that when I take a photo and go to see it in the gallery, the picture is not very clear..i would say a little blurry, while the other two phones shows the picture crystal clear(i tried in auto mode, outdoors and at sunlight). However, when I zoom in , it gets clear. Is it a software bug?? Has anyone noticed that??

Which ROM are you on?

And you have best quality pic in settings?

Are you using QuickPic? There's an option in settings that intentionally blurs the picture to save power.

I am on 33 stock rom. I am using stock camera app. And i have 100℅ picture quality. Havent you noticed it??

He means the gallery in the camera app and not the standalone gallery app. This issue doesn't happen on the gallery app. When you are looking at a picture fully zoomed out, it looks decent. But if you zoom in any amount with your fingers, the picture gets much sharper once you stop.

The zoomed out view is too big for your picture viewer to get a good preview.

Mediascape Picture Quality

Hi all,
Not sure if this happened just after the update to the 24 firmware, as I only just noticed it... but have you noticed that images do not zoom properly in mediascape...?? - it's like a crappy 'digital' zoom on a low resolution image (probably one reason why photos taken by the camera always look so crap - because Mediascape does not display them in their full beauty)
Let me give you an example:
The wallpapers here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6994126&postcount=1 look great as a wallpapers... nice HD image, stretched all the way to the edges of my screen... However, if I view the same image in Mediascape it shows up with an actual size of about 1x1 inch, and if I zoom in, instead of getting a nice HD image, I get exactly what you'd expect if I zoomed in on a thumbnail - a horribly compressed looking jpeg.
Is this a new issue? was Mediascape always awful like this? is there a fix...?
Bump.... anyone?
Yes I noticed the same thing on the 20 software as well. Pictures look great when set as background, but viewed in Mediascape they look all blurry, very annoying!

Is there any good image viewing SW out there... usually, if I take a photo, I'll zoom in close, just to make sure it's not too blurry, and nice and crisp - currently I can't do that.
nothing worse than taking a good photo, and finding it just looks awful when blown up.
Astro has a 'better' image viewer, and while you can't zoom in, at least it's not showing a horribly compressed image.

SE probably did this so you can fling between pictures very quickly (this was first introduced on 020). However in order to make it so 'quick' they had to compress the pictures a lot.. Bunch of amateurs really..
I suggest you download JustPictures from the market. It is as fast as Mediascape, you can do the 'one-finger-zoom' and the images remain sharp.
Thanks for that - Just Pictures works a treat.
Cheers

Custom picture settings

I'm a big picture guy and wanted to know if any of you guys have adjusted any of the settings and have noticed better picture quality. I must say taking off auto-focus does help with the blurryness a little as stated in a previous post but just wanted to know what differences have you made/seen...
I currently have most things set to default.

Set it to highest resolution.
You will probably have to go to another app to really get good pictures. The stock app compresses them down too much. Hopefully, they will improve it in later updates. There is no excuse for not having more features like Camera 360 - the camera can do much better.
Ditto for the "720p" video. Did some side-by-side with a still camera that has a 720p mode - night and day difference in quality. Again, hope/wonder if this can also be upgraded with only software.
Switch to standard photo size by switching off widescreen mode. All widescreen does is lop off pixels from the top and bottom of your photos. If you really wanted that, just do it yourself in a photo editor. You are not using the full resolution of your camera in widescreen mode, and 16:9 photos are non-standard when it comes to printing either 4x6 or 5x7 photos.

Camera setting

I noticed that the camera lens opening is different in still mode from the camcorder mode. Is there a reason for that? I don't like the setting of the still mode because is zoomed out.
P_
I think you are referring to the fact that in video mode you have a narrower field of view than in still photo mode. This is due to the fact that in order for the camera to record video at 1280 x 720 (0.921 mpx) rezolution, it is used only that particular portion of the entire 3.2 mpx sensor. That's why you have a narrower field of view when shooting videos, in contrast with the still picture mode.
Thanks for your answer. That's exactly what I was referring to. I wish the same portion would be used for still pic. Any suggestion for a good camera app with zoom ?
Have you tried Camera Zoom FX? It had zoom up to 6x digitally or optically.

Recording video is zoomed in compared to taking a photo?

When i switch to video in the camera app the view is zoomed in compared to taking a photo. This is the minimum zoom level in the video mode but would be zoomed in a few times in photo mode.
Anyone else experiencing this and know how to fix it? I've had this issue with all the roms i've tried - ICS & GB.
It's really annoying having to stand far away from the thing I want to record

yeah in video mode the image is little bit zoomed ( i would say 2x max) but that will not cause any trouble at all you can still take videos of near objects with ease...
BTW if you want your video quality to be quadrupled try this mod...the video quality is amazing im taking videos of my niece and they are absolutely godly when compared to crappy stock video
try the mod if you have custom rom installed

It is very annoying and I find I have to move quite far back to record a video of something right infront of me, unlike just taking a photo.
Yeah i know about that mod and love it, it increased video & photo quality by 1000%

Gallery bug in samsung galaxy s6

Whenever I try to share pictures clicked with my either of cameras, the photo is processed in the gallery automatically.
When we take a screencap of the photo and the actual photo when shared via any app, One can tell there is noticable difference between two of the photos.
There is some processing with the photos you can witness as soon as you touch the share button.
In my opinion it sort of works like HDR. You can notice the colors are more vibrant when the photo is shared but you cant have that with every picture. Face looks reddish in selfies..
This happens irrespective of the HDR is on or off.

go Settings>Display>Screen mode then switch to AMOLED Cinema. Samsung's adaptive display feature adapts screen sharpness and contrast based on app
