Good day..
I'm not sure that this question can be answered on XDA as it is not an android or phone related question. Perhaps bleepingcomputer.com etc?
Good luck!

I just got my sprint HTC Pro and I cannot find anywhere in the instructions how to make the darn thing default to saving files to the memory card. Second how in the heck do you delete those annoying music files that come pre-installed?!!
Also once the memory card is inserted i see no easy way to remove it?

Hey and welcome...reading not only the manual but here on XDA will help you alot. You need to install Diamond Tweak and or Advanced Config they will do alot for your device such as storing items to default locations... example pictures, videos, music etc.... If you read, you will educate yourself and get more responses. Typically questions like this go unanswered.
I dont think you can delete system files, but you can try using total commander...do a search for it and see if it will let you.
The music files are actually in the My Documents folder, and I believe there are others in a different folder, though I can't recall the name since it isn't in my device anymore..
The best thing to do and the best way to learn is to use the search button, explore the forum, and explore your device.
Btw when you say to change the default location to save files, what program are you referring to? and what do you mean by installing the memory card, and what would you consider an easy way to uninstall it?
Have fun with your new device! It's really the most amazing on the market
Hey ho,
My problem is the following: In my main Folder (mnt/sdcard) are aproximately 40 folders of which I need/acutally use 5. Everytime I want to go to one of those I feel like looking up something in my PCs Registry . The problem is i can't delete or hide them using hide-apps such as MediaHide, because they are App-related Systemfolders (storing data or photos for apps). If removed or replaced they get recreated as soon as I launch the specific apps. So my question is basically:
Is there a way to hide/not show specific folders without changing them?
If my problem is unclear, here's a pic [http: // tiny. cc / duncanwickpic] (the red dots on the right mark the folders i actually require)
Help would be highly appreciated
cheers
Anyone know of a simple way to stop the gallery from Showing all folders? I've got stuff on my SD card that I don't feel is appropriate for my young children to see (primarily "R" rated movies) & my 4 y/o daughter loves to "look @ pictures, daddy" when we're in the car.
Any way to keep the folder containing these files from being shown in the gallery? Can/should I uninstall the gallery app & use a substitute?
I heard a while back that you can I insert a text file like ".nomedia" but have no idea how to do that.
Any suggestions / ideas (that don't include "remove that crap" or "control your kids!" LÖL) are appreciated. If the suggestion is a .nomedia file or some such, detailed instructions would also be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

An easy way to add the .nomedia file is to download the free version of Super Manager from the Play Store. (or paid if you decide you like it) Once you have it open it and go to the file manager. Open up the folder you want hidden so that you can see its contents. At the bottom of the app there is a bar with different buttons. One of them looks like the Windows Media Player icon with a check mark and an X on it and says media below it. Tapping that icon will add/remove a .nomedia file in the open folder.
May not be the most simplistic way but I always had trouble finding something that would let me create just a standard file type I could turn in to the .nomedia file. All most file manager apps let you create is a folder which wont work.
Thanks for the advice! Embarrassing as this is, I "cheated" & looked for an answer on Google @ the same time I posted the question.
Turns out the easiest way for me was to change the name of the folder from "Interesting" to ".Interesting"
Folder disappeared and is no longer assessable through the gallery.
Sorry for the wasted time but I appreciate the answer. Next time, I'll be a little less lazy & a little more aware of the power of the Goog....

Thanks!

I use an app called Vaulty (free version) or Stocks (paid version of Vaulty). It works well for hiding media from prying eyes. Entering anything other than the correct password on the program's opening page just performs a stock market lookup, so as far as anyone else is concerned, it's just another stock market app.
I have run out of space on my phone. (Again. Why can't I add an sdcard to this nexus thing dammit?) I'm going through the Storage sections under Settings, picking and choosing what I want to keep and discard. There's a number of items appearing in Downloads that I want to move to my PC, but I can't find the files and the only commands available are Open, Delete and Share.
How do I locate the items so can copy them?
My phone is not rooted and is running Lollipop 5.1.1.
Downloads as shown in from Settings >> Storage:

Downloads as seen by ES File Explorer:

(sorry, no active links. I don't have the reputation to post links).
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the first image shows the list of things that you've downloaded (and then maybe moved to another folder?) while the second shows what is in your downloads folder now. In other words, one image shows an application, the other shows files.
The Downloads app seems to show items downloaded in the traditional sense (like from my browser, those are the items also seen in 2nd screen shot)
as well as items downloaded by apps, and these are saved somewhere else, not in /sdcard/download.
My question is how do I follow the items from the Download app to their actual location, so I can do something with them?
Double tap on the item opens it. Long press selects it. I need to copy it (or rename or move or...)

If my suggestion is correct, and nobody so far has contradicted it, then the download list needn't correspond in any way to what's actually on your phone at this moment. You may have moved the files, deleted them... there may not be anything to find. What you're seeing is just your file download history, not what actually exists now.
One tool that I find invaluable for this sort of thing is Search Everything - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marlon.searcheverything
It indexes all your files and displays them on the fly - as you type each letter the list of files shown diminishes until you're left with the one you're looking for. If you're looking for a downloaded file then it shouldn't be hidden in an unreachable system folder requiring root. If Search Everything doesn't find what you're looking for, it's a pretty safe bet that it's been deleted.
On your comment about the reason for your question, that your phone is getting full, have you tried Disk Usage to see where the heavy usage is? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
And finally consider Stickmount - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount
In combination with an OTG cable (a couple of dollars) and a USB stick, Stickmount allows you to store files on the USB stick, so you can have effectively unlimited storage.

How to Hide Files, Photos, and Videos on Android
One of the best way to hide files, photos, and videos on your Android phone is to create a private space on your smartphone. Or else, use third-party apps

You could zip the folder and unzip it when you need to use it
